No good deed goes unpunished these days and that couldn’t be more true for Jim Kinney, a 70-year-old veteran who was just trying to do the right thing for his employer Home Depot:
I get that the store has these policies for a reason and even Kinney admits he broke policy in throwing the paint roller at the shoplifters who ended up getting away.
But he was simply trying to protect the store and one would think that would have been a compelling reason to keep him on insteading of firing him like they did. Just as Kinney said, they could have just written him up and reprimanded him.
I’m not outraged at Home Depot for this because I understand they want to protect their employees, but I am sad for Kinney and I hope he ends up getting an even better job with better pay after this story has gone viral.
