UPDATE: DEATH TOLL RISES TO 28 – Islamists MASSACRE 26 Christians on a bus in Cairo, 25 more wounded…

Just a little over a month after the horrible church bombings, more christians are being massacred by Islamists in Egypt. This time they were just taking a bus ride in Cairo when Muslim gunmen stormed the bus and massacred them, leaving 25 wounded and some very critically.

Here’s more:

Twenty-six people have been killed in Egypt after unidentified gunmen opened fire on a bus carrying Coptic Christians in what officials are calling a terror attack.

Ten assailants wearing fatigues and face masks fired on the passengers from three four-wheel drive vehicles, Egypt’s Interior Ministry told CNN.

The Christians were traveling Friday to a monastery, St. Samuel the Confessor, around 100 km (62 miles) northwest of the city of Minya when they came under fire, the ministry said.

Twenty-five others were also injured, some of whom are now in critical condition, Health Ministry spokesman Khaled Mugahed told state-run TV al-Masriya. Men, women and children are among the dead and injured, and 50 ambulances are now at the scene, he said.

The attack comes as the country is still under a three-month state of emergency period following twin attacks on Coptic churches on Palm Sunday last month that killed dozens of people, in attacks claimed by ISIS.

It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the shooting, but Coptic Christians have been targeted by ISIS militants several times in recent years and ongoing violence has triggered a mass exodus of Coptic Christians from some towns.

UPDATE: Death toll now at 28

Remember this from a few months ago? This is more than likely why it happened:

The Islamic State in Egypt is vowing more attacks on Egyptian Christians.

A new video released by ISIS shows the suicide bomber who attacked a Cairo church last December, killing 29, with the narrator vowing the attack was “only the beginning.”

Christians are their “favorite prey,” he declares, promising they will liberate Cairo.

Egypt’s Coptic Christians make up around 10 percent of the population.

“Finally, to my brothers in captivity: rejoice, you believers, do not falter or grieve. I swear to God we will very soon liberate Cairo and free you from captivity. We will come bearing explosives, I swear we will, so rejoice you believers,” he said in the video.

You know it’s interesting to me that some Christians believe that God will keep his church from the tribulation by rapturing them. But there are so many Christians like these in Egypt that are already suffering immense tribulation. Every month more and more of them are being massacred by these evil Muslims that want to eradicate them and it just breaks my heart. While I slept comfy in my bed, 26 Christians were being murdered on a bus!

Let this be our prayer today for the Christians in Egypt – from Psalm 59:

Deliver me from my enemies, O my God;
Defend me from those who rise up against me.
Deliver me from the workers of iniquity,
And save me from bloodthirsty men.

For look, they lie in wait for my life;
The mighty gather against me,
Not for my transgression nor for my sin, O Lord.
They run and prepare themselves through no fault of mine.

Awake to help me, and behold!
You therefore, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel,
Awake to punish all the nations;
Do not be merciful to any wicked transgressors.

Amen.

Today I am a Coptic Christian.
