HORRIBLE: Three officers targeted and shot in their police cars since yesterday, one dead…

Yesterday we told you about the officer in San Antonio, Texas who was executed while sitting in his car during a traffic stop. A man walked up to his car and shot him twice in the head through his window. A manhunt his still underway for the suspect.

Unfortunately this officer wasn’t the only one targeted. Two more officers around the country were ambushed and shot, one during a traffic stop in Sanibel, Florida, and the other who was just sitting in traffic in St, Louis, Missouri.

A fourth officer in Gladstone, Missouri, was also shot during a traffic stop while trying to arrest a suspect after a foot chase.

Watch a report by Fox News below:

ABC News also reported on the officers being targeted:

The St. Louis Mayor says the officer was targeted because he was a cop:

Here’s the report on the officer in Sanibel Florida who was also targeted:

NEWS-PRESS – City officials said a suspect was in custody after a Sanibel city police officer was shot following a routine traffic stop Sunday night.

The officer’s shooting was a first for the island police department, according to police officials.

The shooting took place shortly before 8 p.m. when the Sanibel city police officer was wounded by a drive-by shooter as he sat in his patrol car after completing a routine traffic stop near Bailey and Sandcastle roads.

Other officers later exchanged shots with a suspect.

The injured officer was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital where he was treated and later released.

And lastly here’s more information on the officer who was shot by a suspect in Gladstone. Obviously this officer wasn’t targeted like the others. But since it was mentioned in the news reports you should know the details:

FOX 4 KC – A Gladstone police officer shot during a traffic stop Sunday night is out of surgery and expected to make a full recovery, police say.

According to Kari Thompson with the Kansas City Police Department, which is conducting the investigation, a Gladstone officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at Vivion Road and U.S. 169. Police say the passenger ran from the vehicle and Gladstone officers pursued the suspect on foot.

As officers attempted to take the suspect into custody a struggle ensued. During the struggle, the suspect displayed a handgun, shots were fired and the suspect, who is described as a man in his late teens, was fatally wounded.

A Gladstone officer was also shot, but sustained non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

It can’t be a coincidence that three officers in Texas, Missouri, and Florida were all targeted while sitting in their cars during traffic stops or just sitting in traffic. This feels like a coordinated attack, especially considering it happened in one day.

Let’s hope law enforicement can figure this out soon before more get hurt or killed.
