House announces NEW changes in ‘manager’s amendment’

It looks like Rand Paul was right earlier today, that the changes the House made to the Obamacare replacement were only minor:

FOX NEWS – House Republican leaders announced proposed changes to their health care overhaul late Monday in an effort to shore up support from the GOP’s rank-and-file ahead of an expected floor vote later this week.

The bill’s so-called “manager’s amendment” would let people deduct more medical costs from taxes and repeal many tax increases boosted by President Barack Obama’s 2010 statute this year instead of in 2018.

Older and disabled Medicaid recipients would get more generous benefits. But states could impose work requirements on the program.
The bill would also let the Senate approve tax credits more generous to people age 50 to 64. Congressional analysts say the current GOP legislation would hit many with big cost increases.

House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said the amendment was the result of an “inclusive approach” involving the White House and congressional Republicans.

If Paul is right, the Freedom Caucus has the 21 votes needed to kill the bill and thus the House won’t be able to pass this bill unless they get a few votes from the other side of the aisle.

The bright side is if the Freedom Caucus does kill the bill they will have a seat at the table – or they will be tarred and feathered and put on display for all to mock and blamed for Obamacare’s failure. Yeah I’m guessing the latter seems more likely.
