“Innocent people are being killed”, Scott Brown becomes first Republican to back fed assault weapons ban

The same Republican who crossed the aisle to help Democrats pass the Financial Regulatory bill is now crossing the aisle once again to voice his support for the assault weapons ban because he says “innocent people are being killed”:

YAHOO NEWS – Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown on Wednesday became the first sitting Republican senator to voice support for a federal assault weapons ban following the Newtown, Conn., shooting.

Brown failed to win reelection in November, however, and won’t be in Congress to vote on gun legislation.

“As a state legislator in Massachusetts I supported an assault weapons ban thinking other states would follow suit. But unfortunately they have not and innocent people are being killed,” Brown told Massachusetts paper The Republican on Wednesday. “As a result, I support a federal assault weapons ban, perhaps like the legislation we have in Massachusetts.”

Scott Brown can go eat a turd.

If these scumbags come for the people’s guns, it isn’t a threat, its a fact, to say that there will be civil war.

      “Go eat a turd” (401…)

      That would be cannibalism.

RINO Brown is from the most left of the states in existence in the union. Of course, he is going to reflect the mindset of his constituency.

  • NYGino

Turns out Brown is a double agent.

    • Sober_Thinking

      As in double cross.

  • Wonder if he’ll call for a ban on spoons because they cause obesity?

A ban on cars because of the number of “innocent people” killed and injured by them every day?

(Sigh) Another day in MA for me. Bye Scotty!

    • Orangeone

Maybe it’s time to relocate Wolfie! I’m praying TX secedes so I can move to a free country.

    • Orangeone

Wolfie, wasn’t silverware removed at one of Barky Boy’s campaign speeches? Was it forks?

    • toongoon

I believe a ban on cars for private individuals is in the making, they are stepping up public transportation even though nobody uses it.

      • Rshill7

That’s part of Agenda 21. Single family dwellings are verboten too.

    • “Wonder if he’ll call for a ban on spoons because they cause obesity?”

Good Lord, don’t let Mooochelle hear you say that!

  • mikeinidaho

Who’s surprised? Once a Massachusetts RINO, always a Massachusetts RINO!
Might as well let Fauxcahontas represent those idiots in the Bay State!

Scott Brown has barely voted in the Republican corner. Not to mention that it looks like he might run for Kerry’s seat, so he has to pander for some lib votes. No surprise here.

    • mark1955

No he doesn’t “have to pander to the liberal vote”. Scott Brown ran here on the heels of the Tea Party movement and won in a landslide. While Brown did not ever say he was a Tea Party Conservative,he did everything But say that. The only thing he said later on to cover his liberal turncoat backside later was ” I’m a Scott Brown republican. When i agree with the republican’s i’ll vote with them and when i agree with the democrats i’ll vote with them”. That statement seemed at the time harmless enough or so we thought. Later on he drove a truck through that to cover his backside saying he didn’t lie and used that statement as evidence when he started voting liberal. A Conservative can win in Massachusetts and we thought he was one when we voted for Brown. He’s not popular here at all anymore because of his subterfuge. By the way he wasn’t just any vote on Dodd/Frank,he was the final vote who put it on the floor, when he could have held it up in committee and buried it with a fillibuster. Dodd/Frank is an unconstitutional disaster that will give total control over the financial sector to Obama.

      • Garym

No he doesn’t “have to pander to the liberal vote”.

You say this, and then you prove my point with the rest of your paragraph. Mark you are arguing against yourself.

        • He’s saying he doesn’t have to pander, because he IS a liberal. Liberal dems are not going to vote for a RINO, no matter how liberal he is. Won’t be surprised if he now switches parties, but that will end up like Arlen Specter–no one likes a turncoat.

        • mark1955

No,i’m saying he won election in a landslide by pretending to be a Tea Party Conservative, proving a Conservative can win in Massachusetts. Also he is out of office by pandering to the liberals and Teeing off the very people who put him in office.

Scott Brown is entirely about Scott Brown. He’s not going to be a U.S. Senator again. The liberals will vote for the real unabashed liberal who’s pretending to be a moderate. While the people who could have kept Scott Brown in office, aren’t going to pull the lever for someone who is just going to advance Obama’s agenda.

  • notebene

When are politicians going to get a clue? Anything in the hands of a mentally ill criminal can cause great damage. The worst and most ill written laws on the books are the ones that are written in haste and with the wrong agenda in mind. All I want for Christmas is a smaller government with smarter and most importantly, wiser people running it!

    • warpmine

The “mentally ill” here meaning Congress!

  • Betsey_Ross

There are Republicans and then there are real Republicans. Some of these types even call themselves Conservatives. None of them are what they say they are. Seems that Scott Brown has principles, it’s just that no one knew exactly what they were back then. He even said that some of his votes would dissappoint us. What an understatement that was! Well, it’s time that we all really understand what these politicians principles are before we vote for them. This is why he lost. He’s too wishy washy about what he believes. A known liar was elected in his place because she stood up for her lie. (I can’t believe I just wrote that, but it seems that is what people want.)

    • aposematic

People irrationally do want to believe the lies. Apparently, the feel good lie trumps the real safety of truth most every time.

  • Benedict Arnold of the repub party. This shall be remembered.

  • I wish he’d think of all the innocent people who’s lives would have been SAVED if MORE law abiding citizens were allowed to carry in more places?

To start with all those innocent children that were murdered by that monster. If there had been ONE, just ONE person in that school with a gun the entire outcome and tragedy might have been averted! But NOOOO… It’s a “Brain Free Zone… Sorry… Gun Free Zone.”

Guns don’t kill people… Killers use guns to kill innocent people… Good guys like soldiers and cops use guns to kill the bad people and save innocent people’s lives.

Bottom line, it’s not the tool of a gun that’s used but the tool using the gun that should be addressed!

  • Yeah but he is not really a Republican and he isn’t a great thinker either. I can take little of what he says seriously.

  • WordsFailMe

Snott Brown, the first Republican to openly cast a vote for slavery on behalf of the new National Socialist Republican party.

Hiel you little twit liberal, knee banging. Boston Blow hard, toothless, inbred, Massachusetts scum sucker. I’m sure Boehner will invite you in for a snack before you return to the toilet from which you leaked.

Slopp Brown is definitely one of the Ted Kennedy Chappaquiddick bastards.

    • Orangeone

Speaking of the Kennedy, when are cars going to be banned, Kennedy committed murder with his and left a woman to drown. Looks like Barky Boy took copious notes when he left Sandy victims to drown.

Cars and water should both be heavily regulated as they are VERY dangerous.

I have never considered Scott Brown a “Republican” but a RINO along the same lines as his pal Mitt Romney.

Have you seen Scott Brown’s birth certificate? Father is Joe Lieberman, mother is Charlie Crist.

He is genetically incapable of consistent thought, principle or fealty.

  • Sandra123456

I really wish these people would define their terms. Assault weapon. Was does he mean by that? All firearms are assault weapons. Does he mean military style assault weapons?

If he is talking about fully automatic weapons that the military uses they are already illegal for private ownership.

It is obvious that most of these politicians don’t know what they’re talking about when it relates to guns. Some of them keep talking about weapons and relating them to deer hunters. The deer hunters don’t need this. Or deer hunters don’t need that.

I wish someone would inform these politicians that the deer hunters of America don’t go shoot little deer with little guns with little bullets. The rifles that deer hunters use are extremely powerful, much more powerful than anything that idiot last week used in the school shootings.

They don’t understand that a plain looking firearm can be far more powerful, and deadly, then a so-called evil looking firearm.

The problems that led to that shooting last week were caused by two reasons. Reason number one was his gun free school zone. Gun free zones kill. The second reason was the person who did this was mentally ill. If the shooter did not have an access to weapons he could drove a truck up to it with fertilizer and set that off, or use dynamite, or try to burn the place down. Knives work too or a sword as recently happened in one Florida school. Probably didn’t hear about that because it didn’t fit the anti-gun agenda. http://www.clickorlando.com/news/Sword-wielding-woman-arrested-at-Orlando-mosque/-/1637132/17831556/-/y0o2mxz/-/index.html

These politicians grandstanding on the bodies of dead children is really disgusting.

(If gun free zones truly work, perhaps we should have declared Benghazi a gun free zone.)

He owned a 5 & 10, and when he would catch little kids stealing, (in the 60’s and 70’s) he would put them in his office, say he was calling the police…and then go out into the store, and blow a police whistle. Sooo funny. )

              • poljunkie

If you have a few weeks I can tell you a bunch of stories from behind the counter…..

The stories from the store are amazing, and decades long.

When he retired people I knew from high school stopped by and “confessed” to swiping penny candy when they were 6. It was sooo funny, and we all laughed.
One guy who I was friends with in grammar school- wrote an incredible poem about how much the store meant to the neighborhood. But he was too embarrassed to give it to my parents in person-so he framed it and put it next to the door with flowers and champagne. Other people had been regular customers for 40 years brought cakes and candy and calendars and other stuff. For a couple weeks, it was a constant stream of neighbors coming in and saying good bye. What a tear fest!

Oh —were you talking about the hair brush? 🙂

                • Orangeone

I was thanking you for sharing about your pops!  And thank you again for sharing more!  I hope you write a book, it tells the true story of an entrepreneur and how he positively impacted the lives of many that he didn’t even realize.

… death to anyone who is promoting the EVIL of TYRANNY.”(period)

  • colliemum

It is utterly despicable that this man is trying to start his election campaign on the deaths of 20 children.

He knows full well that his much-vaunted ‘assault weapons ban’ is utter hogwash, and that people are getting killed in his towns and cities by guns. But a couple deaths here or there don’t count, do they – not when they happen amongst the clientele of the lefties – and Scott Brown is rapidly morphing into one of them.

  • Scott Brown is clueless……

  • Sober_Thinking

Okay, first of all, he’s from the liberal state of Massivetwoshtz. Not everyone there is bad or liberal… but they did produce Ted Kennedy. I point this out because there’s something in the water or something. No insult to my conservative friends on this site – they’ve woken up.

If you were to look up the word: RINO in Websters, Scott Brown’s picture would be there. He is a moron and I’m ashamed, ASHAMED, that I donated to his campaign. What a waste on money and what a waste of a Republican Senate seat.

Scott Brown… you’re an epic disgrace. Expect your pink slip.

There you go Scotty Hasbeen. Follow the recipe for even more innocent killings. There’s only one dictatorial version of it. Don’t let established facts, rational thought, or even that pesky amendment interfere with your own personal assault on our freedom, or our culture. Keep crushing and killing both, while exacerbating the problem you purport to quell.

Here, you may as well take this fire-extinguisher. It’s also fully charged…with petrol. You’ll love it next time your bean curd burger bursts into flames, you bilious bungee jumper.

    And another thing!

I’m sick of all those politicians and meejah ghouls going on and on about “innocent people”, but only when there’s a mass murder by a madman.
Are the people killed in drive-by shootings in Chicago guilty? they must be – because not one of those professional hand-wringers ever talks about them.

As for the Mexicans killed by the Fast & Furious guns provided by Holder and the POS – yeah, they’re all guilty, right? Guilty of what? Being a pretty woman? Being teenagers?

    They’re despicable.

  • JennyNoles

Sadly Mr. Brown is not finished poking Teaparty folks in the eyeballs who helped him get over the finish line in his Senate win. He thinks he has to move further left to ever get reelected after his loss to loon head Warren this go round. Hope he takes that ole’ truck and rides it off into the Masschuesetts sunset and out of politics.

  • The “trojan” candidate (and I’m not talking about condums) — rolled into the Senate as a Tea Party conservative, revealed as just another bobble-headed, beltway, statist.

Brown is really a moderate Democrat, but to get elected statewide in Massachusetts as anything other than a moonbat you have to run as a Republican. I voted for Brown because the alternative was a far left nut job.

  • bongobear

Pure BS. I defy Brown to explain to me what exactly is an ‘assault weapon’?! He can’t do it because there’s no real definition of an assault weapon-just vague generalities. Flintlocks were considered assault weapons in the 1700’s…they wouldn’t be today. You can buy flintlocks and cap and ball weapons through the mail and they’ll kill you just as dead as an AK-47. These people are all full of crap.

  • “Innocent people are being killed” in so-called “gun free” zones. Guns don’t kill people. Gun bans kill people.

    • marketcomp

You are right. Why would anyone ever see Scott Brown as a deep thinker? He’s not! I mean this man posed for Play girl magazine so that should tell us all we need to know about being a thinker. Period! He is just not that deep. Moreover, he represents one of the bluest of the blue States so why are we concerned about this phony.

      • I am concerned about him because he is polluting the potentially conservative GOP. More importantly, his #guncontrol stance is contributing to the death toll.

        • marketcomp

Hey, On The Mark, the Conservative GOP is already polluted with people like John McCain and Lisa Murkowski and others! John McCain would not even commit to forcing Hilary Clinton to testify about Benghazi and I think it’s because they are friends. Hilary Clinton also tried to destroy the republican party when she was first lady by blaming republicans for her husband’s infidelity. Brown just adds to that segment of the GOP. These people are hurting the messaging and they need to be eliminated.

  • physicsnut

amazing grasp of the obvious, but no comprehension of reality. Remember that innocent people were killed in the riots in the sixties, oh, and the seventies, and the eighties too.
Innocent kids were killed in Waco too, but it would not be convenient to bring that up.

    • WordsFailMe

I used to work with a PhD, a fellow manager in the Marketing Division of the federal agency where I worked. I used to call him the “Master of the Obvious,” because he never took a risk in life or in work. When he played the lottery, he would buy the same 5 numbers, on 5 tickets so that if he won, we would get the biggest share over others who’d also played the same 5 numbers. What a calculation!

Speaking of great minds- what do think of Michio Kaku, the only physicist I know who can add particles to politics and always arrive at a liberal solution to everything, which would be heartily endorsed by any member of the Communist Party,

Recently I heard him say that Einsteins Theory was fundamentally flawed because at the center of a black hole, as the narrowing size approaches 0, that is, the “singularity.” the mathematics break down and produce a “series of “infinities..” Michio says, “Mother nature cannot produce a “infinity.” He added that a man cannot even conceive of infinity and therefore Einstein’s theory is flawed.

My response to him was that he does not know what he is talking about. He is using 0 (Zero) and nothing interchangeably when the two concepts are literally opposites.

Michio will not dispute, though I will, that the universe began when a pure energy particle of zero width, length, height and weight “exploded/expanded.” He will not dispute it because when he is able to assign a number to some quantity, zero, he can “conceive” of it. But when he is asked to understand “infinity” or a series of infinities, because he cannot put a number on it, for Michio it cannot exist.

Zero, that last contribution to humanity from the “Arabian” people, before they descended into their own black hole of religion and repression, was an outstanding achievement because it added a logical concept to the physical universe which filled the hole in mathematics. But ZERO only exists in mathematics, only in measurement. Zero is not nothing, Computing zero apples or zero dollars is not the same thing as computing nothing.

Here’s my point: Zero is the measure of things–zero apples, zero miles per hour, zero degrees. “Nothing,” on the other hand, not a measurement but can be conceived as the “singularity,” the black hole center or the “origin” point of this universe is, for mathematical purposes, as useless as infinity.

Take a really small theoretical particle- the Higgs Boson. Let’s say one million Higgs particles can fit within a quark and never bump into each other. That’s really tiny. Now, in your mind dived the Higgs into one million pieces and then divide one of those pieces into a million pieces. You are still with me, right? As long as we are dealing with finite numbers, the mind has no problem keeping and holding the “picture.”

But then-let me ask the ultimate question: How many more times must you divide one millionth of one-millionth of a Higgs particle until you reach nothing? It doesn’t work, right? it is “infinite” right?

So for Michio, I ask, how can you say that Einstein’s theory is flawed when you divide or operate on infinity by nothing? Michio: what did you expect that you would get, you bonehead liberal university welfare recepient?

If mother nature cannot provide an “infinity,” then that same Mother nature will be unable to provide for that “singularity, that point where there are no dimensions, no measurements. The Zero that Michio says defeats Einstein is as impossible as the series of infinities Michio’s calculations produce.

Am I onto something here or should I just stick with trying to prove that Obama is a moronic, thumb-sucking idiot for the next 4 years?

      Thanks for listening physicsnut.

More than 10,000 people are killed every year by drunk drivers. Through our laws, we “ban” drunk driving, but that doesn’t seem to stop the slaughter on our highways, does it? According to Brown’s logic, we should get to the heart of the problem and ban alcohol. That should solve the problem.

  • This is what passes for a “Republican” in Massachusetts. Remember, Romney was also the governor there, so is this such a big surprise? Laugh if you will, but I fear that the Scott Browns of the country are going to take over the Republican party. The RINOs are here to stay and the eletists in the Republican party are for some strange reason convinced that only liberal Republicans that can win independents can win in a presidential election. Well, Romney GOT most of the independents in three of the five crucial “swing states” and he still lost. Hey, here’s a thought. Why don’t they try to nominate REAL conservatives for a change, like Rand Paul or Allen West? After Dole, McCain, and now Romney, RINO Republicans just will not win, no matter how “Democratic Light” they want to be. Let’s try real conservatism for a change and see what happens. After all, it worked for Ronald Reagan, why can’t it work again?

“As a state legislator in Massachusetts I supported an assault weapons ban thinking other states would follow suit. But unfortunately they have not and innocent people are being killed,”

Apparently, intelligence won out in those other states.

Question: If one uses an AR 15 type without ammunition to club someone with they ban all clubs and anything that could be used as such?

Stop & think, Scott. You weren’t re-elected. Do you ever wonder why?

I doubt most of us are surprised by this. It’s only a matter of time before he switches parties.

With all due respect to those that praised the victory by Scott Brown as some kind of a great achievement for conservatives, I just shook my head. Massachusetts is one of the states that breed liberalism. Even republicans from that state are not conservatives. I was quite leery of Scott Brown and he proved me correct. He’s not a conservative, at best he’s a RINO, at worst he’s a statist.

The only way conservatives and libertarians are going to get the credibility for support of their positions is to let the “blue states” like Massachusetts, California, Illinois, etc. fail while “red states” gain. If I had my way as President, I’d immediately begin to reduce and eventually eliminate all federal aid to the states (along with ALL foreign aid but that’s a subject for a different post) and tell them “get your fiscal house in order, now!”

As far as the gun issue goes, I’m willing to make the following deal (if I had the power to do so):

I would allow all those that want to repeal the 2nd amendment to do so providing they give me the power to repeal the 24th amendment.

Of course we all know that gun violence will most likely go up and the blame can then be placed on liberals, democrats, statists.

I would then immediately pass a law that says anyone who doesn’t pay at least ___ % of their income to the federal government in NET income taxes as per the 1040 tax form, will not be allowed to vote in a federal election. I think that percentage should be somewhere between 10% and 15%.
