ISIS destroys Biblical city where Tower of Babel was built

ISIS has reportedly bulldozed the Biblical city of Nimrod (now called Nimrud) which pretty much was a city of ruins already:

AFP – The Islamic State jihadist group began bulldozing the ancient Assyrian city of Nimrud in northern Iraq on Thursday, the tourism and antiquities ministry said.

IS “assaulted the historic city of Nimrud and bulldozed it with heavy vehicles,” the ministry said on an official Facebook page, the group’s latest attack on the country’s historical heritage.

This ancient Biblical city is where many believe the Tower of Babel was built:

Nimrod isn’t just an ancient city that ISIS is destroying. It is also prophetically mentioned in the Bible in Micah 5, where it talks about Christ raising up an army that will defeat the Antichrist (the Assyrian):

When the Assyrian comes into our land
and treads in our palaces,
then we will raise against him seven shepherds
and eight princes of men;
they shall shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword,
and the land of Nimrod at its entrances;
and he shall deliver us from the Assyrian
when he comes into our land
and treads within our border.

So it looks like we’re going back to Iraq at some point in the future (yes I believe we will be one of the seven Shepherds to defeat the Antichrist).

Here is what Walid Shoebat writes:

In Micah 5 we are told that this Messiah would deliver Israel from the invading Antichrist, whom the passage links to “Nimrod” the founder of Babel, and refers to him as, “the Assyrian.” “And this man [the Messiah] shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, we will raise against him seven shepherds, even eight principled men. They will rule the land of Assyria with the sword, the land of Nimrod with drawn sword. He [Messiah] will deliver us from the Assyrian when he invades our land and marches into our borders” (Micah 5:2-6).

The Assyrian (Antichrist) will attack Israel. Messiah will be the one to defeat him and establish true peace. It also says that in the midst of this, “seven shepherds, even eight principled men” will be raised up by God to participate in the defeat of the Antichrist.

Remember what the verse says, “we will raise against him seven shepherds, even eight principled men. They will rule the land of Assyria with the sword, the land of Nimrod with drawn sword.”

They, the seven shepherds will destroy Assyria and Nimrod.

God will raise seven allies to help Israel in fighting against the Antichrist. These seven shepherds are rarely if ever discussed. The Bible describes in many cases that He will raise nations from the ends of the earth, far from the Middle East, to destroy Antichrist. Is it possible that seven righteous nations will stand on the side of Christ and Israel in the end? Could America be on this list of righteous defenders?
