Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman has some strong words for the Gaza Strip, telling them that if Hamas starts another war with Israel, it will be their last war because Israel will completely destroy them:
DAILY MAIL – Israel’s Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman has warned Hamas the next war with them would be their last ‘because we will completely destroy them’.
He said he remained committed to a two-state solution and told the Palestinian al-Quds newspaper: ‘I would like to clarify that we have no intention of starting a new war against our neighbours in the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, Lebanon or Syria.’
But Mr Lieberman, one of the most hawkish ministers in the Israeli government, urged Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to tell Hamas to ‘stop your crazy policies’.
He said: ‘In Gaza, like the Iranians, they intend to eliminate the state of Israel…If they impose the next war on Israel, it will be their last. I would like to emphasise again, it will be their last confrontation because we will completely destroy them.’
Strong words indeed, but I’m not sure I believe him. After all, Netanyahu could have destroyed Hamas in 2014. But due to very much attention and pressure from the world, Netanyahu stopped short of this goal and pulled out of Gaza, much to the chagrin of many Israelis.
So while I love the intentions, I’m not sure Israel has the matzah balls to do what needs to be done when it comes to Hamas.
