Jeb: Working with Democrats to get things done is NOT a sign of weakness

Jeb says that Democrats aren’t bad people and he wants to work with them to get things done. But don’t mistake that for mushy RINO weakness!

THE HILL – “It’s not a sign of weakness to actually get things done,” Bush told host Steve Cochran on WGN 720 in Chicago on Monday.

“This has got to be the first priority of the next president,” he continued. “If you start with the premise that people who disagree with you aren’t bad people, you forge consensus.”
Bush said bipartisan bickering is paralyzing Congress.

“We’ve now reached this gridlock that is quite dangerous for our democracy,” he said.

“There’s no trust at all between our two parties in Washington,” Bush added. “Even when they agree, they can’t figure out a way to agree.”

At some point there does have to be a level a cooperation in Congress in order to pass certain bills and get certain things done. But what is at issue here is how much of a person’s principles they are willing to compromise to do this. And when it comes to Jeb, I’m not sure I trust him enough to stick to his principles in the face of outspoken leftist demagogues and a badgering leftist media.

Now, Ted Cruz on the other hand, is one I trust the most not to compromise his principles. Does that mean he will never disappoint me? No. But it means that disappointment will probably be far, far less than that of a candidate like Jeb Bush, who loves to extol the virtues of ‘compromise’.
