Not surprisingly, Jerry Falwell Jr. blessed Trump’s comments on Charlottesville, despite nearly everyone saying how dumb they were.

I get what Falwell is getting at – it’s better to have someone be honest than someone lie or spin. But the problem is that Trump does ALL of that! And it’s absolutely shameful and disgusting for a supposed faith leader like Falwell to excuse it and pretend that Trump’s lies bear the approval of the stamp of Christianity.
Oddly enough, trusting in the heart is a left-wing value, not a traditionally Christian value: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9)
Just to make one thing clear – I’m not saying Trump is racist. But I am saying that Falwell’s defense is absolutely irrational and nonsensical and springs from his worship of Trump and not from anything wise or faithful.
Yes, the left and the media have absolutely NO credibility when it comes to political violence. But that doesn’t mean we can follow them down the gutter as long as we’re a millimeter better. I naively believed we had higher standards than that. I’m rather shocked to find I wasn’t pessimistic enough about politics!
