El Trumpo isn’t backing down on his claim that “thousands and thousands” of Muslims were dancing and celebrating as the second tower fell during the 9/11 attack, and at a rally today he yelled out the less controversial claim that Muslims were celebrating around the world. While there’s little evidence of the first claim, the second one is just true. There were a lot of Muslims who cheered the attack.
But that didn’t stop Joe Scarborough, the host of “Morning Joe,” from tweeting out a frenzied defense of Muslims around the world:
Jordan: King Abdullah II condemned the 9/11 attacks. Jordanians signed letters of sympathy. https://t.co/bYUcotJitE
— Joe Scarborough (@JoeNBC) November 28, 2015
In all these tweets, he’s referring to this quote of Trump:
Trump: "Btw, everybody admits that worldwide, muslims were absolutely going wild" over 911
— Adam Smith (@adamsmithtimes) November 28, 2015
Lebanese president Émile Lahoud and prime minister Rafic Hariri both condemned the 9/11 attacks. https://t.co/bYUcotJitE

Turkish president and prime minister condemned the attacks. Turkey then ordered all of its flags at half mast https://t.co/bYUcotJitE

Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak vehemently denounced the attacks. https://t.co/bYUcotJitE

Libya: Muammar Gaddafi condemned the attacks.

Er… isn’t that the guy that committed his own terror attacks against the West?
Kuwait condemned & denounced the 9/11 attacks. Kuwaitis lined up at Red Crescent hospitals to donate blood. https://t.co/bYUcotJitE

No way, you mean the people that we saved from Saddam Hussein actually defended their interests? Weird.
Huge crowds attended candlelit vigils in Iran. 60,000 spectators observed a minute's silence at Tehran's stadium.

Meanwhile, their government is one of the greatest worldwide sponsors of terror.
A 2008 Gallup poll found only 7% of Muslims polled believing the 9/11 attacks were completely justified. https://t.co/bYUcotJitE

Now, put that last tweet together with this next one:
Palestinians were the most notable exception regarding the 9/11 attacks. But a billion plus Muslims did not "go wild" or celebrate.
— Joe Scarborough (@JoeNBC) November 28, 2015
And toss in some math… let’s see, 7% of a billion people is… 70 million people who were happy about 9/11. I don’t see a problem here, do you?
But that’s besides the point – just because some heads of state publicly gave statements of sorrow and support, it doesn’t mean that there were NO Muslims that celebrated. Surely there were, and it’s ridiculous for Joe to attempt to deny it. Undoubtedly many don’t want to see the U.S. taken down, but enough do where terrorism is a persistent problem in the world.
