Jonathan Hoenig on Cashin’ In: ‘Secure the border nonsense’ is GOP power grab to control our lives

I rather like Jonathan Hoenig, but I think we have to part ways on immigration because he says that the attempt to control the border is another extension of government power, even at the hands of the GOP.

It seems to me that protecting the border is one of the few functions of the federal government that the constitution actually demands as part of security. Further, just because someone thinks a country might do one thing better doesn’t mean they want to emulate every aspect of that country. That’s a weak argument by Hoenig, when many countries we’d otherwise despise actually might have certain aspects of their society surpassing ours.
