It’s really a weak defense to say ‘why do you care’. He’s President-Elect. Of course the media cares and it’s not their fault he tweeted.
Buy really, Trump shouldn’t be tweeting about Hamilton in the first place. He should have let Mike Pence and others take this on and not lower himself this way. He’s the most powerful man in the country now and he should act like it. Every word he says will analyzed over and over in the media, so why not make those words about substance.
If Trump had just let Pence handle it, he would have seemed magnanimous because that’s exactly how Pence sounded when he basically shrugged it off as democracy.
Also, he should consider the consequences of such tweets as well. It wouldn’t surprise me if we soon hear that the cast of Hamilton is getting death threats.
I’m all about the president defending himself from unfair media attacks. Even the occasional jab at SNL is fine with me. But the election just happened and Democrats are still very sore about it. Just let things like this go. It’s going to be a long four years if he responds to every slight he and his administration gets from Democrats around the country.
Besides, doesn’t he have much bigger things to worry about?
