Krauthammer: The edge goes to Trump….sorta

After watching the first debate between Trump and Hillary, Charles Krauthammer said it was not exactly the knock-out fight that everyone thought it would be.

Krauthammer noted that it was a spirited fight, but in the end he said it was really “something like a draw” that would have hardly any impact on the race.

‘But,’ he added ‘I do believe the draw goes to the challenger in the sense that Trump did not go over the line.’

Krauthammer pointed out that Trump did get very defensive on a few issues which Hillary exploited, and he missed a few opportunities. But he contained himself and didn’t commit any gaffes.

Clinton, he said, presented herself as she always does, very stolid, not terribly exciting, but reliable — noting that she came out slightly ahead on demeanor.

Because Trump has been touted as someone who is out of control, however, the fact that he appeared reasonable was to his advantage. This is why Krauthammer says Trump will get a more benefit, if any, from the draw than Hillary.

So essentially Krauthammer is saying that because Trump didn’t look like the disaster he’s been in the past, he comes out slightly ahead. LOL!

What a low bar for a presidential election.
