This is like some form of madness. The loony left is never loonier than they are on Twitter, and never leftier than they are about guns. So you can imagine the Twitter reaction to a posed prom photo featuring a firearm from former NFL star and CBS sports analyst Jay Feely is the apotheosis of that terrible mixture.
There is no humor so innocent as that style of joking around where the dad intimidates the date, protective of his daughter and coping with her growing up and leaving childhood and home behind. It’s bittersweet, and the various tropes (like cleaning a gun when the date arrives) are time-honored and innocent.
Even more innocent is a silly photo meant as a take on that theme, arranged as a joke, to create a cute memory of a memorable night.
Well we can’t have that, says the nutbar left.
Here’s the picture from former kicker Jay Feely that set the internet on fire Sunday morning.

OH HEAVENS TO BETSY, THE VAPORS.
Check out some of the reactions:
https://twitter.com/ourdailyquest/status/987895488241422336NO, it really isn’t Siege. You claim to get the reference, which negates the second half your stupid tweet.
https://twitter.com/itamer/status/987927501539131392Right, it’s anti-woman because he obviously wants to take away his daughter’s free will.
Let's see...Daddy poses for a photo by standing between daughter and her date, while holding a hand gun!? The clear message is what? That you own a gun? You make a strong case that MANY GUN OWNERS SHOULD NOT OWN A GUN!! Totally irresponsible.

Photos are irresponsible!!
He is also apparently sending a message that he owns his daughter, and this kid better not trespass on his "property".

Stupid.
It’s a joke and yet women who experience domestic violence are 500 times more likely to die if the man has a gun. So. Yeah. It’s cool to make jokes out of guns and not treat them as the actual weapons they are. It is a very twisted culture to find this comical.

Stupid.
Is threatening to injure or out-and-out murder a teenager what you consider responsible gun ownership?
— (An)T(h)ony (@anthonytx42) April 22, 2018
I can’t even…
Can you imagine seeing these pix of your son for the first time? Omg I would call the cops on that guy!
— Lorianne Cyanide (@SipsOfCyanide) April 22, 2018
Call the cops. Seriously?
It goes on and on. There are more examples at Twitchy, or you can see for yourself by clicking on his tweet to read the replies.
Feely is trying to explain things to the idiots, bless him.
The prom picture I posted was obviously intended to be a joke. My Daughter has dated her boyfriend for over a year and they knew I was joking.

I take gun safety seriously (the gun was not loaded and had no clip in) and I did not intend to be insensitive to that important issue
but, yeah, good luck with that.
Humor is dead. It was probably shot. Because guns are the worst thing that ever existed.
