“Let’s get this done” – Gabby Giffords comes out with new ad for gun control

It’s amazing that Gabby Giffords has been able to survive such a horrible ordeal in her life and because of that I am a bit more sympathetic to her point of view and am certainly not going to denigrate her. And I’m not going to lie, the ad is powerful.

But it is just wrong. We all know gun control isn’t the answer and the reason this is so vital to understand is because if gun control advocates win this argument about banning certain guns that they call assault weapons, they have a better chance of winning the next argument about banning more guns and the next argument about confiscating guns. It’s the camel’s nose in the tent problem. Pretty soon the whole camel is going to be in the tent if we don’t bop it on the nose.

Here’s the ad:

  • I appreciate Gabby Gifford’s opinion too after what she and others went through, but I agree- Gun Control IS NOT the answer. I hate saying this, because I don’t want to dishonor the families or the victims, but I can’t help but think if someone had have been carrying- so many people wouldn’t have died that day.

    • What I don’t appreciate is her exploiting her tragedy for personal gain at the expense of the rest of us.

      • Same here Laurel. I can’t imagine what survivors and families go through, but I could never imagine trying to take rights away from people because of the acts of some evil creep.

        • James1754

Ever hear of Representative Carolyn McCarthy? She turned a personal tragedy into a political career based on her hatred of firearms.

      • Sober_Thinking

        Spot on.

      • BetsyYoung

    • OneThinDime

      Someone was carrying!

    • Joe

You said it way better than I would have

Thank You for being so diplomatic

It appears in all these cases – mentally ill people are pulling the trigger

Guns are NOT pulling their own trigger

      • warpmine

“Smartguns” and Skynet aren’t here as yet though the slow witted designers are trying.

      • mark1955

“Mentally ill people”, who also not coincidentally have strong connection’s to the dem party as Loughner’s parent’s did. Also kind of strange how the dems immediately had a coordinated strategy to blame Sarah Palin for Tucson, within one half hour of the shooting. Even stranger was the entire repub party’s deafening silence, as Sarah Palin was being savaged over this.

    • sDee

Zero respect from me. I know Liberty’s enemy, and here it has the face of the Giffords.

Make no mistake with these people. Cede no ground. Their designs are clear.

      • Make no mistake sDee. I might respect their right to their 1st Amendment right, but I will NEVER cede our 2nd Amendment right to her or anyone else.

      • StrangernFiction

Nor from me. I’m not too concerned about the welfare of those who want to enslave me.

      • publius1969

ageed. We already have plenty of controls. This woman and her spouse are either useful idiots or dedicated progressive idealogues. Regardless they are enemies of our Republic. Who the $%# are they to take away our God given rights. To hell with them

    • M_J_S

No, sorry, I don’t appreciate it. Being a Democrat I guess that shooter knocked the rest of the IQ points she had left in her head. She has the intelligence of a liberal now.

I don’t give a damn! There is no negotiation with our God-given rights!! I don’t care what happened to her!

      • I understand that M_J_S. You know I do.

      • clockwindingdown

Reminds me of an article about Stockholm Sweden. They had a high number of incidents involving car pedestrian collisions due to pedestrians jaywalking. The way they dealt with it was to lower the speed limit form and equivalent of 25mph to 12mph.

This did nothing to address the actual problem of jaywalking, only possibly lessen the severity of an incident and possibly the number of incidents.

I agree Gabby is allowing herself to be a tool, and as such deserves to be treated as she chose to be, that of a tool. It is unfortunate she had this life altering situation happen to her, however she is deciding that others pay the cost for someone else’s crime. Gabby is setting up others to the real possibility of facing what she has faced, that is being shot.

She is also advocating against our Constitution, which is something all citizens should question, no where in the 2nd Amendment is regulation of weapons discussed.

We have seen violent gun crimes increase since gun regulations have been put in place, this clearly shows that regulations are the wrong direction. It telegraphs to would be criminals that fewer are prepared to defend themselves due to regulation hurdles, and therefore there are more potential victims.

    • warpmine

Why? They’ve dishonored themselves by making it political therefore I can no longer feel empathy for them. That said empathy stopped immediately after they made themselves props.

I believe the Founders were just a bit more civilized and intelligent than the current crop of leftist scum. They knew what personal protection from government and others that sought to harm them meant thereby installing the second amendment in the constitution.

Screw them and any who can’t get by the horrible reality that evil exists in our society.

  • plus_tips

Naive Gun Control Advocates always stomp on the rights allotted by the 2nd Amendment to Law abiding Citizens while ignoring felons with even more dangerous guns like a sawed off shotgun!

    • BlueGood

They also have no qualms whatsoever to USING any and all victims of crazy people like Gabby to further their CONTROLLING agenda!

Another reason Liebrals turn my stomach….

    • sDee

I do not believe there are any naive Gun Control Advocates – they know they must disarm free men. They may find useful idiots to support them but my experience is that liberals, progressives, and largely any politicians, are far more knowledgeable of the true intent of the 2nd Amendment that gun owners. Because they know its intent, they know they must nullify it.

  • I agree that’s a big reason why I don’t want to ban on assault weapons, we give an inch, they’ll take a mile eventually.. Is that 9/10 figure right on universal background checks? I didn’t see any source for that fact… I heard they are going to play ad during SOTU.

  • Hey Gabby let’s stop exploiting people and punishing law abiding citizens.

    Enough already!

    • marketcomp

And what credibility she have anyway. I mean everyone knows that she is been compromised, coached, and pushed by the democrat party and her husband. Her husband gets on FOX news with Chris Wallace and uses old data to make a point which we later found that the data was not appropriate and it certainly did not address gun control. Besides he is not an expert so who cares what he says. Nancy Pelosi also using the students from Sandy Hook, and Obama using children to sign these executive orders. This is shameful! And I hope that next year all of them are voted out!

      • Well look at Democrats…they exploit their useful idiots and tragedies one by one for personal gain. I have read “Dante’s Inferno” for many years but I’m pretty sure their is a ring in hell dedicated for this type of evil.

        • marketcomp

I hear that Ted Nugent has been invited by for the SOU but why don’t they invite women who have used guns to save their lives and their young children. Or other Americans who have used guns in the defense of thier lives. I bet that would fill-up the chamber.

    • She is not the one calling the shots…she wouldn’t even understand the point you’re making. It’s despicable how they use her.

      • I’m not totally convinced of that. I have seen her interviewed without anyone else in the interview.

    • 1217Chic

I wish this puppet and her space cadet husband would just go away…..Would she be doing this if she wasn’t shot?????

      • tinlizzieowner

Actually yes, she would. She was an uber-liberal Congresswoman.

        • She ran as a moderate including gun control

          • tinlizzieowner

So did Obama, the first time. 😉 😉

      • No. She had a semi conservative district in Az.

  • Not going to watch the propaganda ad.

I can be sympathetic to her condition, but not to the fact that her lefty husband is actually using an impaired individual to promote the commie agenda. Anyone can see she is not 100% and words are being fed to her, at least in the Congressional hearings where she recently made a statement, a very carefully scripted and controlled statement. It’s wrong to use someone who has brain damage to parrot words, and that’s what the left is doing.

It’s like using a 3 year old in a commercial who has no idea of the meaning of the words. But they can be trained to say them.

I don’t believe that Gabby Giffords has full cognition. Period.

    • OneThinDime

I don’t believe that Gabby Giffords has full cognition. Period.

Agreed. And she and her husband and bending down to anything Obama wants. Personally I’d like to know how much taxpayer funding has been used to pay for her medical treatment.

      • sDee

        Remember Brady and his wife?

        • tinlizzieowner

          Remember ‘the Brady Bill’? 😉

        • tinlizzieowner

          Remember ‘the Brady Bill’? 😉

        • OneThinDime

You are correct and yes I do. And didn’t Obama pull out Brady with this latest round too?

      • tinlizzieowner

She was a Congresswoman at the time. In other words, 100% taxpayer money.

        • OneThinDime

Exactly. And as a taxpayer I’d like to know the size of that medical bill.

          • tinlizzieowner

I’d speculate, probably close to a million by now. After all, she’s a member of the government and not subject to the likes of ‘Obamacare’. She will always be able to keep the doctor she wants.

    • bongobear

I believe there is plenty of evidence that the left will exploit anyone or anything to achieve their agenda. Liberals seem to have a deep-seated need to screw with other people’s lives.

    • …and Bingo was his Namo!

  • I was not moved by the ad…..but she kind of creeps me out a little bit. It’s tragic what happened to her but these pathetic attempts to pull on my heart strings have the opposite effect.

……OK Gabby I’m going to write something down with this orange crayon and you’re going to read it…Okay?…..That was very good. Thank you

    • williamm

I am moved by her ad. She is one of the liberals trying to destroy our constitution and take away our right to protect ourselves against people that will ignore any gun laws. There will be many innocent people killed because the criminals will know it’s safe to break into any home without fear the people will have a weapon.

Like criminals, the liberals have no problem breaking laws.

Yes, her ad moved me, to send in a donation to the NRA

  • aPLWBinAK

While I am sympathetic to the injuries she incurred at the hands of a madman, I do not appreciate Gifford’s opinion on this, but do appreciate her right to have that opinion…..there’s a difference.

  • OneThinDime

Gabby Giffords was aware of the threats against her. She made the decision to hold her event. She made the decision not to hire armed security. She made the decision not to warn attendees at her event of the threats and for that she is partly responsible for what happened to them. She is using what happened to her, years later and is exploiting the murders in Newtown to advance “guns for me but not for thee”. It’s sick, just sick.

  • Rshill7

If a camel sticks it’s nose into your tent, stick a stick of TNT into his nose.

The answer to gun control is simply this: No! Followed by a hearty FU.

I don’t care who you are. Guess what? I didn’t do it. I refuse to be punished for it too.

Just put up some more Gun Free Zone signs and take down more copies of the Ten Commandments. That’ll do it.

    Stupid Fools.

  • CO2isGood

A Leftist maniac shoots people so let’s punish all the law-abiding citizens….makes sense if you are a Liberal.

  • It is the Lefties themselves who force sociopaths and psychopaths onto society – with their liberal bleeding hearts. They emptied the institutions and now these people wander the streets, vulnerable and helpless against the criminal elements of society. Then there are individuals like Loughner who are mentally ill and we can’t get them off the street. Loughner was protected by the local sheriff’s department because his mother who worked for someone in the gov. bureaucracy pleaded for a favor. He had been identified as a threat… Same for the guy doing the Newtown shooting, he was mentally ill and his mother tried to get him off the street, and couldn’t.

Part of the plan for implementing Communism is to USE all these groups to advance their agenda, then once they’re in complete power and control, even these poor stupes will become as someone said, “they’ll no longer be useful idiots, just idiots.”

  • LdyDesign

This reminds me of Micheal J. Fox letting the Democrats use his Parkinson’s disease to elect Claire McCaskill. All under the use of embryonic stem cells. Shame on Gabby’s husband for allowing her to be expoited.

    • OneThinDime

The are the elite. Why isn’t he out chatting with muslims?

    • poljunkie

I remember that. He looked horrible in a series of interviews. Couldn’t control his reactions, balance, tremors and coordination.
Later he said, he didn’t take his medication for a number of weeks prior, so his symptoms would look worse, and his points would be better served.

      • OneThinDime

Well he is an actor after all. Must have Emmy or Oscar-worthy performance.

  • Philo Beddoe

Since she is a former Congresswoman, she should be advocating high quality healthcare.
There is no way the average person would receive the same care that she did.

    • sDee

As a Congresswoman she did advocate high quality healthcare for herself and her colleagues in Congress, and obamacare for the rest of us.

  • deeme

I’ll stand with her and help make sure guns stay out of the hands of ,liberal mental cases, with an axe to grind, going off their medicines..

    • sDee

Remember though, it is those liberal mental cases who dominate the mental health profession and will be given the full discretion to declare us fit to own a gun.

      • deeme

Well you knew I meant it mostly as sarc…because they are in charge and nothing they will come up with will make sense..they are actually justifying the cop killer in LA…they justify everything if their side does it..just like we have to pay for crimes we never would and never have committed…

    • tinlizzieowner

You mean like the guy who shot her? 😉 😉

      • deeme

The guy who shot her was one of them..my sarc is ..how do you punish people who don’t follow the laws in the first place..write some more laws for them to not follow..This email describes it best.

Brilliant way to put it. But because of the common sense aspect of it, no one in Washington will pay attention.

LET ME SEE IF I HAVE THIS RIGHT! A person steals guns, (WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW), shoots and kills his own mother (WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW), transports these guns loaded (WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW), brings guns onto school property (WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW), breaks into the school (WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW), discharges the weapons within city limits (WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW), murders 26 people (WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW), and commits suicide (WHICH IS AGAINST THE LAW).

Yet, there are people in this country that somehow think passing ANOTHER LAW banning guns would protect us from someone like this. If you haven’t noticed, criminals are not concerned about breaking laws – they only care about fulfilling their own twisted agenda.

The only people that more gun ban laws will impact are LAW ABIDING CITIZENS, which will only serve to cripple their ability to protect themselves.

        • tinlizzieowner

          Spot on! 🙂
To use a phrase that’s been around (and ignored) forever. “When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns’.
Oh well, I guess when the time comes, even though I have absolutely NO criminal record, I guess I’ll be ‘an outlaw’. 🙁

          • deeme

I may live in the South and may only be able to speak to that ,but I’m pretty sure that times not going to come without one hell of a fight..

            • tinlizzieowner

I live in Florida and I carry a gun to work (no, I’m a cop).

              • deeme

May God Bless you…you picked some awful times to be a person that upholds the law in..The girl flipping out the judge so perfectly speaks to what kind of people you are dealing with..irrational…disrespectful…drugged out…lacking love.

                • tinlizzieowner

You missed the last words, it says “NO, I’m not a cop”. I wouldn’t last a week, it takes a special disposition to spend all your time having to deal with criminals and idiots. I don’t have it. If I was a cop or a Judge in that incident, I would have slapped the snot out of the little disrespectful bi*ch and then, I would have been out of a job.
However, I am a (civilian) member of the Florida Sheriff’s Association and I know a lot more cops than the average civilian does, in the ‘correct’ sort of way.
I’m retired, not a retired cop either, I’ve never worked in law enforcememt. I work part time, overnight in a C-Store/Gas station for some extra spending cash to spend on my Hot Rod cars, that’s why I carry a gun and the cops all know I do. Being a Viet Nam Vet, I can hit what I aim at too. 😉

                • deeme

Too funny I miss alot..WELL God Bless you anyways…my husband said the same thing..he said she should of been tasered..You served this country..that means alot..you went to Nam and came out a Conservative..is that the norm…??? Because I know some who didn’t turn out too well.. Lord knows you need your gun if that’s what you do..they are getting hit daily in my border town State..Tx…Hot Rods tinlizzie..I get it..There’s alot of old truck enthusiasts in my family..They all love Barret Jackson..You said no I’m a cop instead of No I’m not a cop …that’s why I missed it…That makes me feel a little better because during the day I’m in such a hurry I can’t proof read …

                • tinlizzieowner

I just noticed that! I’m the one who needs to proof read. I just fixed it.
I didn’t come back ‘a conservative’ so to speak. I spent a total of 21 months in Southeast Asia, a year of that in Viet Nam (C-130’s fly around a bit). I had an opportunity to see what a krap hole the rest of this world is and how it gets this way. When I got back and out of the Air Force, I put myself through college on the GI Bill. That’s where I became a conservative. I witnessed what was happening to our educational system and where this country was heading. That was 38+ years ago and the downward spiral has just continued. 🙁

                • deeme

You know what I don’t get is they interviewed…Asians and Hispanics and asked them whether they would rather have less taxes and small government or more taxes and bigger government and they all said bigger government..How come they don’t recognize the “crap holes” they left…??? You are right about the education system..if they can dumb U.S. down they can win everytime…

      • OneThinDime

Yes, the man she knew was making the threats she ignored. She put innocent people in that man’s line of fire because she did not cancel the event, did not have armed security and did not warn the attendees of the threats. She has blood on her hands, including the blood of a child.

        • tinlizzieowner

    • OneThinDime

I would like her, her family and her security disarmed.

  • I may sound like the most callus man on planet Earth, but I’m so done with Gabby Giffords and her husband. The tragedy that took her mental capacity is now used as a propaganda tool. She is incapable of speaking for herself. Her husband is constantly whispering in her ear telling her what to say. Personally, I think it would be more meaningful if he spoke and she was not rolled out in the public eye at all. It is despicable that he keeps rolling her out in front of the public to be used by the Progressives.

    • sDee

Far from callous to recognize those who who intend to steal you liberty.

    • DebbyX

Not callus, just truthful! Saying what most of us are feeling. Notice how when we feel like we’re saying something “mean”, we always apologize right away? That’s exactly what the Leftists love. Our Conservative guilt boiling up to the surface right away. We have nothing to feel guilty about, yet we always preface a harsh remark with a disclaimer first. I do it constantly.

  • OneThinDime

Miss Giffords, why don’t you tell this father your thoughts. Please put the conversation on You Tube for all to watch. http://www.therightscoop.com/powerful-father-of-6-yr-old-sandy-hook-victim-says-gun-laws-arent-the-problem/

  • poljunkie

I am very sorry she was shot, and for the long term recovery she is experiencing. I always get a terrible feeling in my stomach and in my heart when any shooting occurs.

We live in Arizona, and it did have a profound impact on our state- at least temporarily. From the onset, we had a nagging feeling her husband was going to make this a cause. We were surprised he didn’t run for her seat.

As Rs pointed out, why punish everyone for crimes a little commit? Most of us are law abiding.

  • Conniption Fitz

Since 95% of the mass murderers/shooters are leftist Democrats and leftist Democrats are the ones who want gun control – then – leftist Democrats should turn in their weapons or sell them at a discount to right-wing responsible self-controlled people who need to defend themselves against gangsta home invaders and that sort.

  • poljunkie

    I didnt watch the ad.

I saw the husband on some news show going round and round about how both he and Gabby are gun owners and users, go shooting frequenting.

That will be the next ad. At the range.

I’m sorry, am I being cynical?

    • “I’m sorry, am I being cynical?”

    • DebbyX

      I didn’t watch it either.

      Signed: Cynical.

      • poljunkie

    • OneThinDime

They need to surrender their guns. As gun owners, why didn’t she choose armed protection in light of the threats? She knew about them.

  • You know, I’m sorry some crazy guy shot her, but what right does she really have of telling the rest of the country to simply abandon the Second Amendment? This is a big country and a lot of people, especially ranchers on the border with Mexico, need all the firepower they can get to protect themselves from all the drug smugglers that invade their property. Since Giffords is FROM Arizona, she should already KNOW that. This is a cheap way to disarm the American public and it should be rejected, regardless of who is pandering for the cameras.

  • Joe

TED NUGENT is GOING to THE sad State of the UNION ADDRESS

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha !!!!!!

  • JRD1

Let all the Democrats turn in their guns since the majority of these wack jobs who murder are leftists.

Conservatives have shown that they are responsible and can be trusted with guns. Conservatives have earned the privilege to keep their guns.

    Just sayin’

  • Just because you are a victim of a madman does not give you the right or moral authority to strip me of my second amendment rights. That is just the bottom line. The victim routine used to strip me of my liberty is disgusting.

  • magi52

What burns me up, is that she was a member of Congress for 11 years and she should know that it is VERY dangerous to pass Legislation and written law very quickly. It even states in the Constitution that Legislation should be throughly OPENLY ARGUED until a bill is perfect before it is passed.

What she is suggesting is quick Legislation, which is very very dangerous. She also took an oath to support, defend our US Constitution against enemies domestic and foreign.

Listen to Dr. Suzanna Hupp on the 2nd Amendment:

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

…People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

    …shall not be infringed.

    • sDee

We should not underestimate politicians like Giffords. She knows full well the power of ramrodding legislation.

She, like all 99% of Congress and the President, does not recognize the Constitution as the law of the land. Their oath is as hollow as their moral fiber.

    • OneThinDime

Well said. If she wants the 2nd Amendment limited, than I say her 1st Amendment should be limited first, she should stay home and watch her dems on C-SPAN all day.

  • TickedWhiteDude

I think guns is bad because ….potato. I can’t believe her husband lets them use her like this.

    • Rocco11

It’s called money, sadly many folks can be bought, look at Colin Powell, and Wes Clark.

    • OneThinDime

Her husband is a user. Did you see the video of the Congressional hearing and watch him run out of the room? He didn’t want to hear the truth.

  • deeme

Someone has probably already pointed this out but I found someone who actually cares about the Constitution…

    • Patriot077

Someone should give him tickets to the big show tomorrow night.

      • deeme

Will those tickets come with a puke bag..because I doubt after Dr. Carson giving them “The Truth” at the prayer meeting , they will be giving anyone a voice anymore..Besides I’m sure he knows what to expect, they will double down on all their failed policies for four more years..More stimulus that stimulates their special interests, more jobs for teachers no one can fire even if they suck, more green energy money to hand out to their friends, more roads to nowhere..

  • 57thunderbird

I will not demean her either, but she could not be more wrong! This issue is a slippery slope.IMO the founders never intended for the people to be out gunned by the government.Quite the contrary!

    • sDee

I will not demean her but I will call her what she is – a totalitarian who designs and schemes against individual liberty and a free Republic.

I called her that before the shooting with her deceptions and support for socialist healthcare. I call her that now as she seeks to remove our means to defend against that totalitarian government.

      • DebbyX

Hey, she’s put herself out there. So I say, call it as you see it. If she wants to be in the public eye, then she will pay the consequences for that.

  • 57thunderbird

Ownership of the means to defend ones self or his/her family is a God given right, and I shall never surrender that right! The right to be bear arms shall not be infringed! What part of that is hard to understand?

  • magi52

Here is the GUN PROBLEM in NEWTOWN, as this mother reveals, it is across our WHOLE NATION:

  • Sober_Thinking

    This was inevitable.

While I condemn what happened to her, I had no doubt she would be exploited and become the Democratic face for gun control.

Frankly, I find this rather evil… yes, she has every right to speak out… but when you couple that with the fact that she’s a Democrat and we know how they like to surround themselves with children and victims, I find this unsettling.

And no doubt… the dumbmasses will swallow this whole… drawn to this lie like moths to a flame.

Gabby could do so much more with her life…

    • Patriot077

Just think if she used her experience to champion mental health programs and research instead of exploiting her condition to strip everyone in the country of our God given (or natural for those who don’t believe in God) rights to defend ourselves.

I feel terrible about the shooting and her terrible injury. I also recall the parents of the little girl who was Killed that day did not want the tragedy to be exploited for the purpose of gun control. Too bad Gabby isn’t honoring their wishes.

      • Sober_Thinking

        Spot on.

        • Patriot077

          I schpoke too soon, Sober.

Christina’s folks are now on the other side. Not to take away ALL our guns, just the bad ones donchaknow. Nothing about the mental illness of the operators. I have empathy for their little girl being murdered but we can’t forget that these people are madmen. The guns don’t go off on their own.

Dear Republicans in Congress. Now is a time for choosing.. Will you stand by the People and the Constitution against a clear and blatant usurpation of our government by the Executive Branch and your complicit colleagues in Congress? Or, will you chose to join this usurpation?

No matter how well you think that you and your State Media have misinformed and deceived the citizenry, there are millions of us who understand exactly the juncture at which we stand. We know that any legislation to further restrict our inalienable rights to bear arms, is a clear and intentional violation to the 2nd Amendment which prohibits you from taking such actions.

Should you make the wrong choice, you leave us none, and will find yourselves on the wrong side of history.

    • Sober_Thinking

      Spot on.

It would be nice if millions of us sent that same message to all of our senators. It would be even better if they would “hear” us loud and clear and stop this illegal nonsense.

  • 57thunderbird

Her husband should be ashamed of himself for allowing the left to exploit his wife!Oh,I forgot. The left has no shame!

    • sDee

He is a typical liberal beta male. (I phrased that as politely as I could)

      • 57thunderbird

And a fine job you did too.:-)

    • TxGold

I’ve been thinking the same thing.

Universal background checks by feds (stopping transfer of personal weapons at their will), mental health checks linked to private healthcare records, and, magazine capacity limits, will give them all they need to threaten, intimidate, conduct random searches, persecute, prosecute and restrict gun sales over time.

All these tools of the tyrants may sound innocuous but are the camel’s nose under the tent. They will be cranked up. Their goal is gun control. Compromise is slavery.

If the House does not stand united, as a complete and absolute firewall, against the totalitarian gun grabbers, our last line of defense is gone and we are on our own.

  • tinlizzieowner

Keep a couple things in mind.
The guy who shot her was a liberal, not the ‘right winger’ he was first implied to be.
Her best friend is Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
The part of her brain that was shot out, was what little was left of the common sense part she had, in the first place.
Am I being callous? Maybe so but if she wasn’t being used as the ‘poster lib’ for draconian gun measures and just retired, I might not be.

  • MominNV

    *sniff* poor wittle progressive marxist.

  • 911Infidel

Brady and Giffords. Wrong, wrong, wrong. You want an insurrection, keep fooking around Dhimratz and you’ll get one.

    • notsofastthere

Gabby is alive, the others are dead and no one remembers their names.
Her medical bills are forever on the taxpayer. When a construction collapses and many injured or die- do we ban construction of buildings? Be happy you are still alive Gabby -do not punish all good people for your unfortunate incident by a nut job leftist. Taking guns away will only fuel violence Gabby

      • 911Infidel

I find it ironic that leftists are after decent law-abiding people instead of their fellow leftist looney tunes criminals who keep commiting these crimes. Instead of listening to the ACL_FU) on mental heath issues, they should get a second opinion from someone with a working brain. These appeals to emotion are the mark of anarchists, cause that’s all they got. Its just like the founders said: true Democracy is nothing but mob rule. That’s why they chose republican govt.

        • toongoon

First, their only interest is to eliminate political opponents, then they will go after the infirm, undesirables, then they will go true criminals.

They need the criminals to help them with the extermination.

          • 911Infidel

Yep. They give criminals tenure and traitors cabinet posts. These sorry a$4 people are the lowest form of life.

      • OneThinDime

And fuel the populace to ignore everything coming out of your mouth. She could have been a positive voice for investigation of threats, but nope, go after law abiding citizens instead. Nothing more than a progressive who’s 15 minutes of fame is long past.

  • notsofastthere

Someone uses a gun to kill – they want to take everyone’s gun away
Drunk driver kills people – they just want to punish the driver, NOT TAKE EVERYONE’S CAR AWAY!

  • toongoon

We can be pretty sure that Gabby Giffords doesn’t have the brain capacity any more to come up with these bills. The progressives wrote it and put it in her name for the sympathy effect.

I’m also pretty sure she exceeds Pelosi and several others in brain capacity though.

  • I learned many years ago about the democrat party, they are the party of death. What ever’ area they control is a complete failure of trust and production, honestly by the numbers a failure, and for them as a party to bring this lady out as a example as to why America needs deeper anti constitutional gun control is a travesty to reality. Respectively the shooter is the problem and Not finding a gun to commit the crime. When you have a maniac running loose you don’t need less guns, you need more guns to stop the shooter, for protection, especially when they have murdered, you know the cost up front, isn’t it called self perservation 101? of course.
G-D bless this lady, she has been through enough already.

    • jleinf

The party of death rings true for democrats, statists and Islam. Christianity, common sense and conservatism is the party of LIFE and no way in hell will good people be disarmed because the party of death says so.

  • DebbyX

I am sorry for her plight, nobody should have to go through all she has. And here comes the “but”, I am so tired of “victim” stories. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and do something constructive with your experience. Trying to curtail one of basic rights is not noble. We all have a story to tell, we just don’t feel the need to bore others with it.

  • cenalott

Is it just me or does her husband give you the creeps??? I was just at a construction convention in Texas and he was the guest speaker. This guy has done more to trade on his wife’s tragedy than Piers Morgan…

Liberals are shameless…How many of you know that former Attorney General John Ashcroft’s wife was a rape victim??? Ever see him hitting the talk show tour or asking for recognition as an expert on rape victims???

I bet Mark Kelly runs for Congress as a “tribute” to his wife…

    • 57thunderbird

      I agree.He has no shame.But then,most liberals don’t.

      • martha chandler

I guess she has never understood she’s being used. I guess liberals think that’s noble.

        • 57thunderbird

Being used by her own husband no less.Shameful and pathetic.Liberals have no morals. They think right is wrong and wrong is right.

  • jleinf

Was that a gun free zone that Gabby was shot in? If it was shouldn’t she be promoting ccw in public/mass murder places in stead of gun control?

  • notebene

Tell ya what, Gabby. You find a way to get back the high power weapons that Odumbo gave to the drug cartels in Mexico. While you are at it, guarantee that you will have criminally insane people executed on the spot instead of allowed back out into society. Then find a way to create the Utopia you and the liberal ilk, who are exploiting you to push a failed agenda, by making all the criminals give up their high powered weapons. You can’t and even in your brain damaged state, you know you cannot. I’m sorry for your tragedy, but I will not give up my God given right and Constitutionally protected right to protect my family! Shame on your political party for exploiting you and shame on your husband for allowing it!

  • I’ll denigrate her. when the shit hit the fan she caved.
she found out that freedom isn’t free and is unwilling to pay the price.

  • po-ke-yo

ha ha! fools your toy guns won’t save you! you underestimate HIS power! the beast, 666, satan, the devil, the dark lord, the prince of darkness! he’s so powerful that you will join him in time! this world will end in fire ,all of tea party toy soilders with it! you all are nothing to him ,easily wiped out! only at the end times shall you humans finally understand ,or maybe not. that it was all for nothing! you humans shall submit and die ,or wait till HE does it! for all your sins you shall make HIM as POWERFUL as GOD if not MORE! ALL THIS SHALL BE ON AMERICA’S HEAD SATAN WILL THANK YOU FOR IT!

    • Fred Phelps says the meeting is next week, at his place. So you can worship your dark lord there, safe among among fellow Democrats.

To make sure you are on time, I’ll stop you from wasting more of our time here.

So long. And thanks for the the demonstration of how insane the left can be.

  • Sadly, Giffords has been turned into a tool. Her husband is a puppet master.

  • James1754

This is what it is all about, no facts, no proof and no way any of this will keep a single person safe. It is all about feelings.
I was a cop for thirty years and I can tell you that universal gun background checks will effect no a single criminal.

  • daeghrefn

“It’s amazing that Gabby Giffords has been able to survive such a horrible ordeal in her life and because of that I am a bit more sympathetic to her point of view and am certainly not going to denigrate her.”

I will. She and her husband should first of all apologize to Sarah Palin and the Tea Party members who were shamelessly smeared only for political maneuvering. It was one of the most vile spectacles I’ve ever seen.

  • aZjimbo

No Gabby WE do not have a problem as most gun owning people are simple everyday people minding there own business. The people with the problem are the crackpots of the world which you are trying to group us into. You know the percentage of killings with the AR-15 “assualt rifle”? Less than 1 percent. And if you are so against guns empty out your house of all guns and ammo and take the lead. Good thing the liberals are not exploiting your plight.

  • drphibes

We saw this first with Jim Brady, of course. One could say Gifford and Brady speak with authority, but they speak from an extreme experience which has BIASED them. How can they be objective about the issue? The can’t. And that’s not altogether a bad thing, because experience is a powerful voice. However, it is not objective, and we need to realize this.

  • Godisright

I wish Mrs. Gifford’s would look at the whole picture and see that she is putting the public in danger of the exact same experience she went through. Gun control is a facilitator of these horrible acts.

  • I realize this woman was shot and that’s really horrible. Other people were killed, that’s horrible too. But I’m sick of this emotional BS. She’s being trotted out for a reason, so that our side will not criticize her. I’m not here to criticize her, but gun control is not the answer. The empirical evidence shows that gun control doesn’t stop violent crime. The question we should be asking of Ms. Giffords is, it’s well known during the investigation of Loughner that he had stalked her for years. He had said things to school mates that were not right. He was sending her weird correspondence, possibly hidden threats. Why didn’t she notify the authorities? Why didn’t the school notify them that Lougher was a cracker short of cheese? Same in Newtown. Lanza appeared at the school days before and caused problems, was possibly violent and threatening. Why wasn’t the authorities told?

  • chatterbox365

I have a lot of sympathy for Gabby Giffords, but if she continues to use her personal tragedy to push a political agenda, then she is fair game for criticism.

What would be the reaction of the Left if Giffords were a republican pushing a pro-gun agenda???

I agree, Ms, Gifford…Congress does need to act. There is a long list of things, such as passing a balanced budget and fixing our economy, that are far more important than the liberal propaganda you and your husband are peddling.

  • Quote- “Of the 140,000 Jews who had lived in the Netherlands prior to 1940, only 30,000 survived the war. This high death toll had a number of reasons. One was the excellent state of Dutch civil records: the Dutch state, prior to the war, had recorded substantial information on every Dutch national. This allowed the Nazi regime to determine easily who was Jewish (whether fully or partly of Jewish ancestry) simply by accessing the data.”

This is an example of what govt controlled registration of every citizen’s private information can, and will lead to. In this case, gun registration information of each and every person if the country.

  • Sorry for your trauma, and glad you survived, Ms. Giffords.

As for your plans to infringe on the Second Amendment,

    Come and take them.

And by the way, are you aware that a strong negative correlation exists between gun restrictions and homicides, worldwide? And that in Sweden, which has very strict gun laws, the number of Rapes keeps increasing, so that, by 2008, it was already the second-highest rate of rapes per 100,000 per year, at over 53, among all countries. So now people estimate (hey, it’s probably a ballpark figure, so don’t get all excited) that one in four women in Sweden will be raped in their lifetime. That’s a lot of women who probably wished they had some way to defend themselves. But the Swedes gave up their rights to own guns, just like you want us to do here. You want our guns.

    Come and take them.

Oh, and did you know that we have unalienable rights, guaranteed by our creator, which the Federal government is expressly forbidden to infringe upon? And yet you join in the cries to infringe upon them at the federal level. To take away our right to own and bear weapons capable of defending ourselves from a tyrannical government.

    Come and take them.

You will find that the People will insist upon enforcing the Constitution, which is the law of the land, regardless of your opinion. The people have a right to keep and bear arms. You would do well to remember that we plan to do exactly that. But if you insist,

    Come and take them.

  • BetsyYoung

It is so very sad that the proponents of gun control are USING this woman! Just despicable! Just as they used the Brady’s!!

  • Never let a crisis go to waste

  • Like Brady, they are going to make her a poster child for gun control

  • tinlizzieowner

deeme wrote, in response to tinlizzieowner:

“You know what I don’t get is they interviewed…Asians and Hispanics and asked them whether they would rather have less taxes and small government or more taxes and bigger government and they all said bigger government..How come they don’t recognize the “crap holes” they left…???”

They’re like the the North Easterners we have filling Florida right now. They bring what they know with them and expect us to accommodate them.
Case in point, I had a snotty old lady come into the store where I work asking for a copy of the New York Times. When I told her we don’t have the NY Times, she got real indignant and said “well, where can I get a copy”. I told her to go up to the next intersection, turn right, go to I-75, turn north and go 1,300 miles. My boss almost spit up his coffee. 😉 😉
