No Louie Gohmert did not equate bestiality with gay marriage. Just more liberal smears and attacks

Taegan Goddard’s Political Wire this morning tweeted a story on Louie Goehmert that sounded like nothing but a smear:

Well that just sounds stupid so I decided to look into it. Political Wire picked it up from a lefty smear blog Right Wing Watch who is intentionally misleading people about Louie’s actual comments on magazine size. RWW entitled their article “Louie Gohmert Opposes Gun Control Because Gay Marriage Leads to Bestiality” which is nothing but a despicable smear. Even the content of his comments they posted don’t support such a claim:

In fact, I had this discussion with some wonderful, caring Democrats earlier this week on the issue of, well, they said “surely you could agree to limit the number of rounds in a magazine, couldn’t you? How would that be problematic?”

And I pointed out, well, once you make it ten, then why would you draw the line at ten? What’s wrong with nine? Or eleven? And the problem is once you draw that limit ; it’s kind of like marriage when you say it’s not a man and a woman any more, then why not have three men and one woman, or four women and one man, or why not somebody has a love for an animal?

There is no clear place to draw the line once you eliminate the traditional marriage and it’s the same once you start putting limits on what guns can be used, then it’s just really easy to have laws that make them all illegal.

This is the same stupid attack that was leveled at Ben Carson, and just like Carson, Gohmert did not equate love for an animal with same-sex marriage. Nor did he even suggest one leads to the other. He was simply making the slippery slope argument meaning that if we change marriage now from what it’s been for thousands of years, where do we draw the line then? Why can’t it mean anything because we’d be changing it on the whims of society.

But these lefties slinging these false attacks are either too stupid to understand reading comprehension or too desperate to attack in order to silence and destroy. It’s probably more to do with the latter than the former. And perhaps there’s a bit of projection in their attacks as well, considering how ‘sensitive’ they are to mentioning ‘love for an animal’ in the same sentence with ‘same-sex marriage’.

The flip side of this is how much they hate conservatives like Louie Gohmert. He’s got them working overtime just to try and discredit him which means he’s doing something right.
