Mary Katharine Ham on Trump’s Sweden remark: Trump needs to be more careful with his words…

Mary Katharine Ham was on CNN this morning to weigh in on both Trump and his Sweden remark and the media outrage that ensued. Here’s what she said:

In short, MK Hammer is saying that Trump really needs to be more careful with his words. But she’s also saying that instead of outraging over what Trump said, the media should be more interested in what he’s saying rather than characterizing it as something it is not.

Obama misspoke tons of times and the media never outraged over it once. Heck, they didn’t even outrage when Obama promised he’d be more flexible to work with Putin after his 2012 election in a hot mic moment.

If there’s one thing we know about Trump from all of the 2015 and 2016 campaigning, it’s that he doesn’t have the best words – or at least he doesn’t use them if he does. Trump has always been imprecise with his language.

So instead of jumping to conclusions, the media needs to take a chill pill. If they can completely ignore Obama’s misspeaks, they can at least give Trump the benefit of the doubt on such occasions as these.
