Massive Oklahoma tornado time-lapse

If you’ve been paying attention at all to the news, as I have, then you know a massive mile-wide tornado has devastated Oklahoma City. Some news reports traveling around twitter suggests that this may be the worst twister ever to hit the ground.

A woman on the phone with Bret Baier described a horrific scene where cars had been flung on top of a school building and even at the time of the call they were still pulling children out from underneath the vehicles in the school.

The photo aerials from above show massive devastation where whole neighborhoods are in rubble.

Samaritan’s Purse is already moving into action:

Samaritan’s Purse is responding to devastating tornadoes that hit the Oklahoma City area Sunday and Monday.

Staff members are on their way to the affected area to determine how we can help the people impacted by the tornadoes that raked the area. A Disaster Relief Unit is being deployed from our North Carolina headquarters.

A mile-wide twister pounded the Oklahoma City suburbs Monday, leveling homes, businesses and schools in Moore. The funnel cloud could be seen for miles, creating a debris field several miles wide. Weather officials estimated the strength of the tornado to be an EF-4 or EF-5, with radar estimates suggesting it had the potential to produce 200 mph winds.

If you want to give to Samaritan’s Purse to help with Oklahoma recovery, you can do so here. I just made a donation.
