Michelle Malkin fed up with “Fed-Ed”, BLASTS “John Dewey/Saul Alinsky-marinated progressives” pushing Common Core

A great clip of Michelle Malkin fighting against Common Core, brought to us by Shark-Tank. I’ve transcribed a good portion of it below:

And you know as well as I do that before it was Common Core, it was No Child Left Behind. And before it was No Child Left Behind, it was Outcome-Based Education. And before it was OBE, it was Goals 2000 and Schools-to-Work.

And who are the people behind these efforts to usurp local control and sovereignty, to trample parental rights, to invade student privacy, and to undermine basic constitutional principles? Chamber of Commerce types, Republican Party types, Jeb Bush, Mike Huckabee, the Establishment — they’re just a facade for the people who are really pulling the strings behind the scenes: the John Dewey/Saul Alinsky-marinated progressives who’ve been trying to undermine local control of education for as long as they’ve been alive and for as long as I can remember.

Fed-Ed. I’m fed up with Fed-Ed. And I’m fed up with people swallowing the lies of Common Core propagandists who say that it was state-led. And yet it’s Arnie Duncan and Bill Gates who are the only ones blabbering about it all the time on the air-waves.

It is one of the biggest boondoggles that we’ve seen come down the pipe in decades. It’s a cash-cow for text-book companies and testing companies and every educational so-called non-profit out there who does not have your kids interest at heart.

  • God Bless her for standing up against the progressive indoctrination of the kids.

At my kid’s parent teacher conference, I told her what I thought about Common Core…and how pathetic it is for any sane human being to advocate for such criminal intent…I will teach my kid proper reading, writing, and ‘rithmatic…

God bless and keep you, Michelle Malkin and may He bless your fight against these slime!

  • ColonelNeville

The incredibly hard working Michelle Malkin is one helluva empirical n’ patriot heroine. Relentless repackaged Commie Core variants are actually deliberate Marxist agenda driven indoctrinational child abuse. I like that Michelle called out the junk text book phony need sales schemes that they invariably go hand in hand with. And yes, the RINO’S of the establishment GOP are nauseating. No, really.

  • olddog

Go girl…Someones got to wear the pants in the (R)ino-Tards panty party..The establishment is TOAST..

  • “Common core is the enemy of school choice…..period.”
    Bravo.

SCOOP: Was there more to the talk? Sounded like she was fixing to hit on another good point about how No One is safe even though she home schools and charter schools.
As the divorced parent of a 5-year old, I’m fixing to begin battle with the school system to allow my child to split time: home schooled with me and public (or maybe private) ed with his mom.
Public schools measure “Success” as how many days an ass is in a seat. Days an ass is in a seat = money which = “success” to public schools. They couldn’t care less whether or not the child has actually learned anything.

  • Laurel

    She nailed that.

  • VL123

Apparently the comic Louis CK doesn’t like it either from his latest tweet.

  • Gene White

Very compelling speaker. Strong voice against all the government-instigated programs and policies that are ruining this country. We need more like her. Wish we could get her to run for office.

there are more like her, check out Sandra Stotsky in Arkansas, she was on the curriculum board for common core, she was one of five on the board who REFUSED to sign off on the so called “standards”. She recently spoke in California and still is, she is on a tour across the state to educate parents, local and state school board members and teachers, all of which were LEFT OUT of the decision process of common core. http://www.sdcqe.org Citizens for Quality Education

Here is one of several comments I took home from the meeting: “Common core is a theory, licensed as a product, and marketed as a standard.” The only people who stand to benefit from common core are those such as the publishers and the technology manufacturers. As for the CHILDREN it’s a race to the bottom, and California is already there, from first to worst in a few short years.
      It’s a tragedy!

  • MontyRay

I’m happy to see that my home state has put up some legislation recently to end common core and replace it with a state derived standard. However, the sad news is that even with the legislation, it will likely take 1-2 years to do since there is no state standards formed today. It makes me wonder who is running the show if it just now occurred to them that they need to fill the gap with something. Oh well, glass half full.
Let’s hope that our national representatives have a serious replacement proposal to unwind the ACA.

  • Common Core is the dumbing down of the kids.
    Push American History!

  • cheesyhead

Home schooling next year. Watch out for Next Generation Science Standards…they are slowly and sneaking into our schools.

  • Gene White

Not to make it too simple, but most people just live their lives and pay their bills and raise their kids as best they can. They trust the government to take care of things like the safety of their food, the efficacy of their prescription medicines, and the education of their children.

This thread is mostly about the education of their children. I just threw those other things in there to round out the equation. The equation being, that you should trust the Federal Government to look out for your needs and protect you in all phases of your life. From birth to death, trust your government to protect you and take care of your basic requirements. Your government is there for you.

Right about now, most of you are saying, “What pure Bullshit!” Good for you, because that is exactly what it is.

Actually, in all the things we face in living our lives and raising our children, and providing for them, and trying to enjoy just basic freedoms, our own federal government is the biggest enemy out there. Because no matter what you have planned, the Federal Damned Government is already two steps ahead of you. If the Federal doesn’t get you, your local State, county, or city government will wrap you up in regulations and red tape, to such an extent, that you might just want to stay home and forget whatever you had planned in the first place.

Wanna start a business? Good luck. Every new entrepreneur has the same dream. In fact, that is why so many millions try to come to these shores every year. To produce a product, or a service, that others will gladly pay for, thus providing you with a successful business.

Put simply, that is the real dream that America offers. It offered that dream to Bill Gates and Steven Jobs, and they took it to the bank.

The real truth is that if Bill Gates and Steven Jobs tried to the same thing today, they would not be able to do so, because of all the government regulations that are now in place, to prevent such a thing from happening.

Ask any Corporate CEO if they could recreate the multi-million dollar corporation that they are now the head of, in the current environment. Their answer would be No. It would not be possible, because of current government regulations.

Why is China the number one producer of goods that the people of the planet buy? You know the answer already. Because China has no such regulations. They do whatever it takes to produce a product that is cheaper than any product made by any other country.

America used to be like that. We were the economic giant of the world. For those of you who study history, 1959 was the absolute peak, of the magic that was America, economically speaking. Your dollar never bought more after that magic year in our history. Gasoline was 25 cents a gallon. A new Chevie cost you two thousand dollars.

Eisenhower, as a returning victorious General, presided over the healthiest economy in the history of this nation. Tired of war, the GI’s came home and bought homes, and new cars, and American factories began producing products that the world wanted, because they came with that famous label, “Made in America.” “Made in America,” was what the whole world wanted.

What changed all that, was such a simple thing, really. The transistor radio. Compared to the technology we have today, it seems silly. But it didn’t seem silly at the time. Because everyone wanted one. It took years to develop a viable product, based on the new technology. Sony became the leader, and the rest, as they say, is history.

What does all this have to do with home schooling your children? Not much really. Except this. In order to live in this country, as a free American, you have to fight to maintain the freedom of certain rights, that the Federal Damned Government wants to take away from you.

One of those things is the right to educate your own children. Common Core, is the Government’s way of telling you, you can’t do that. Michelle Malkin is a great spokesperson for the opposite perspective on that issue.

Your government has an agenda. They even have a timeline for it happening. Individual freedom is against what they have planned for all of us. It is simply not consistent, with the view of a one world government that these people have. Common Core is part of it. What you are seeing right now, is only the beginning effect of it.

  • Robert Young

This LADY rocks!! From what I’ve read about john dewey he is the father of the DESTRUCTION of the American education system.

  • Terry

    Michelle is a true warrior.

If our decision making is to be free of external interference, boundaries must be set to establish limits inside which the agents and dictates of the state cannot meddle.

  • dicksi

I was a child of the ‘50’s. Education then centered on what was best for
the child and best equipped the child for the future. I don’t remember ever thinking “what would President Eisenhower do to destroy the country today”. Yet hasn’t it come to that now. A president and his minions that do not have the countries best interest at heart. An education system designed to reward the unions and well-connected cronies and the interest of the students isn’t even on the table.

  • USMC 64-68

For those who can’t see the obvious: What difference is there between education under the USSR and America?

Both are programs of the gov’t. Both are infused with anti-American ideology, neither respect Christianity, individual and state’s rights, both feel that they have the right to control our children, and both maintain power and control through centralized gov’t.

The more accurate name for what the left is pushing is: CommieCore!

  • USDiz

Change isn’t the same thing as “fix”. Reform does not mean improve in the progressive lexicon. Fixing that which is not broken should lead us question all “progressive educational initiatives”. Those who teach children do control the future.
