Immigration reform is NOT about racism. That’s a leftist ruse.

As Michelle Malkin says:

It is not an issue of racism. It’s not merely being anti-Mexican or anti-brown. Look, my skin is browner than Barack Obama’s… It is not a skin color issue. It is a constitutional issue. It is a national security issue.

It begins and ends in making sure that we have new generations of Americans in this country who know and appreciate what it is to be an American.

As a Canadian I've been watching what is going on in America for 40 years. I have many relatives who are American and I am right wing with my wife and 4 young children( having them later in life). As the same left wing lunatic policies were implemented in Canada over the years as Obama is doing to the great USA, I had always wanted to escape to the more sane US- not any more as, thanks to Obama, you are beating Canada in the race to be like Greece. If I sneaked across the border into the USA, does anyone really believe that my family would be allowed to stay...I know damn well that we would be wisked back across the border,( RIGHT-WINGERS). YOUR southern borders openness is for leftist VOTES, that much is clear.

As an American who was raised outside the U.S., it seems those of us who know from experience what freedom is (as opposed to what it is not) are screaming the loudest. Tell, them, Mrs. Malkin, tell them. I hate seeing my country filled with the ideology of the country I grew up in and doubly hate seeing its citizens pouring into our country wanting the good and not willing to adapt to the ways that got us where we are and them the jobs they steal from Americans.

I am not prejudiced, I am a realist and have the common sense God gave me. If we don't do something about illegals in what is left of some areas of our country, we might as well seceed those portions.

Agreed. All countries should reserve the right to restrict illegal immigration without guilt.

"Michelle Malkin: Immigration Reform is NOT about Racism".

I love ya death dear but you're going to have a tough time trying to explain that to "La Raza". ;-) ;-)

The "ruling class" in DC are electing a new people. Today, immigration is mainly about one thing - importing people and thus expanding government in order to create more social programs to help politicians get and stay elected.

Foreigners for the most part, do not know nor care about American values, traditions, history, customs, etc.

The American people, white and black, are being replaced. DC is "electing a new people".

If you come here for the wrong reasons, then you add nothing to the greatness that is this great nation. That is the most simple explanation I can give, to explain illegal immigration.

Intelligentsia from Europe with IQ well above 100?

No!

Ted the Swimmer Kennedy had ensured influx of low IQ people from the south of the border.

These are facts. Leftists do not like them ;)

Tough.

It is a criminal offense to walk on the other side of the border, into USA.

Try to enter Mexico from the south - you may get shot.

Please. Let's not go into defensive I'm-not-a-racist-mode. Nobody ever wins that argument. In the words of Andrew Breitbart and Greg Gutfeld, 'I'm a racist, you're a racist, wouldn't you like to be a racist too?'

John
John

Yes,siree!

But for the sake of an argument - all blacks are much bigger racists than the biggest white racist.

"Conservative" blacks, like Condolezza? When needed for personal advancement......only.....

Maybe a few: Clarence Thomas, Walter Williams, Tomas Sowell....

Hey, leftists, capisce???

Right so we kick people who want to home school their kids out but we leave the illegals here?

Holder and Obama deporting a family back to Germany. Home schooling is illegal in german where authorities threaten to take the kids away from the parents and jail the parents. If only this was a gay or muslim family. Maybe things would have been a little different for them.

Obama released the blueprint for his own amnesty plan and of course the spin is that it is much worse than the gang of eight. Rubio is out slamming it as a terrible plan. This is all smoke and mirrors folks. The idea is to get Republicans to think "Gee I might as well vote for the Senate amnesty plan otherwise we will get Obama's plan by executive order which is much worse."

Michelle is absolutely correct. The massive sloppiness of our government is diluting the real value and meaning of U.S. citizenship. As our government sells bonds at a certain value and then turns around and prints more unsecured dollars, we experience a devaluation of both the bond and the dollar. The same can be said for gun control. The government will not enforce laws on the books. So, they make more laws - as if the act of passing a law will physically guarantee the transgression from ever happening again. Take health care. Our government thinks that all will be covered, at the expense of driving the cost of everything to a point where we are taxed up one side and down the other. The economic, free market system will not sustain this type of dictatorship unless the people rise and make a change in the leadership. A free market system and a socialistic dictatorship do not co-exist, one will survive and one will die.

This is a common thread within our governmental system that will eventually lead to its destruction.

Things seemed to work pretty well before LBJ created his Great Society. Aside from "take from the rich and give to the poor" he also took the duty of charity away from churches and installed the government the Church charity.

Obama has taken over car companies, banks, school loans, medical insurance, energy. He openly invites the least educated to enter the US illegally and rape the country of its resources. All of this doesn't cost HIM 'one single dime' because he is stealing the income of those who work and provide for themselves.

It most certainly is not about racism. It is about trading an easy path to legalization for millions of guaranteed Democrat votes.

It takes 12-18 years to legally become a citizen these days. Just like all the other easily accessible entitlements that illegals seem to be allowed to have, they want quick, easy legalization, where they don't have to do anything at all, but yet get something for nothing (other than a checkmark at the ballot).

It's good for them, good for Obama, and bad for our country.

I find it amazing that, according to the liberal's definition of Natural Born Citizen, a foreigner can sneak into this country, have sex and give birth to a child (an anchor baby), raise that child under the culture of a foreign country with allegiances to that foreign country, and then expect that child to be able to be President of the United States.

This is what we have come to. God help us all.

John
John

I know people from Europe who had waited 15 - 20 YEARS to get citizenship.

Those 50+ million of illegals will have it in a jiffy - to vote in 2016, if voting will ever happen again...........

Core issue here is fairly simple. Do we want to be a country where those who follow the law have a better chance of succeeding than those who break it? Imagine if we were talking about business or politics or sports. Then try arguing that we should give cheaters a break in those areas because they were cheating to create a better life for their family. I understand the desire of people to come here to create that better life. I also understand our current immigration laws are abysmally bureaucratic and so poorly enforced that it seems like we aren't serious about them.

Still, immigration solutions need to be set on the basis of what policies best ensure national survival and prosperity. The answer, a robust, legal immigration system that requires those entering U.S. borders to integrate into our society and learn to communicate in our common language. Immigrants coming here legally must have an advantage over those entering illegally. America needs to welcome immigrants. But we need policies, processes and enforcement that work far better than the system today.

GSR
GSR

Mike - we already (and have for decades) admit more immigrants each year than all other countries in the world admit, added together, for each and every year. When is enough, enough?

Sure, some legal imigration is good and I'm in favor of it but the numbers need to be reduced significantly, for a good 10-20 years. Immigration today is mainly about one thing: growing government and racial/ethnic divisiveness, which benefits demogougic politicians.

This country is all the better because of Michelle Malkin. Her parents did a great job with their daughter.

The only notion I take issue with is the fact that they are not "illegal aliens", they are "illegal criminals." As soon as they set foot on our soil unlawfully, they automatically make themselves criminals.

crossing the border, falsifying documents, lying to the gove - yep, it is CRIMINAL!!!!

GSR

It's also a matter of numbers. Since we essentially stopped enforcing immigation laws and the border years ago. the difference between legal and illegal alien is almost moot. But numbers do matter and quite a lot. When a nation "imports" huge numbers as we do and also when the vast majority of the imported peoplea are of the same culture/language and the majority of them are grade-school educated, the governing class (the Beltway Whores) are "creating a new population" and essentially replacing the American people with a more grateful and docile population, eager for their social programs.

After we secure our borders, and then address the situation with illegal aliens here, Immigration reform ought to be a slam dunk for bipartisan review.

But I want those actually important things done first, and the far less important task of reforming Immigration Law to happen afterward. Like eight to fifteen years from now.

white531
white531

K-Bob, on the path we are on, in eight to fifteen years, we will have an illegal Mexican for our President.

Ordinarily, I would not make such an outrageous statement. But then ordinarily speaking, we should not have a Kenyan Immigrant with no birth certificate, for a President right now. But we do.

Of course leftist call out racist, otherwise they have no argument to justify the crime be committed. There is no logical reason for not enforcing and obey our immigration laws.

Illegal residents, immigrants, regardless of language is about "illegal", breaking of our laws, end of subject, there is nothing more to it.

If we disregard immigration law with a trickle down affect that is bankrupting communities and states, denying citizens of services, jobs, education, then what other laws must we also disregard in order to perpetuate this?

One can see that breaking of immigration law requires breaking of others in order to allow the first crime to continue. Breaking our laws harms all of us, an undermines the foundation of our Nation.

It is a crime issue, nothing less. By living in our country illegally a crime is being committed. The perpetrators existence here is as a criminal, expecting other activities, at least in part, not to be criminal would be naive. Much like telling a lie, so is living a lie, one must take certain actions to cover the first action...

Thanks Infidel for this post.I love Michelle Malkin.Being that she is a child of immigrants and has obviously assimilated into an American gives her opinion on the subject much more weight.Very intelligent well spoken young lady and a true patriot.I have the utmost respect for her opinion. In my mind she is almost even keel with Levin.
