Michelle Malkin: We need to support Hobby Lobby for fighting against Obamacare

Michelle Malkin believes that since Obama has been able to drive a wedge between House Republican conservatives and capitulators, that he is now trying to drive a wedge between the same camps in the Senate. And in the end she believes Republicans will cave and nothing will be done to curb the massive spending the plagues us.

Also, considering that Hobby Lobby has said it intends to violate the HHS mandate to provide contraceptives in health insurance coverage and not it’s faith, Malkin says we should make an effort to support them since they are on the front lines fighting against this illegal Obamacare mandate.

O/T but a fun read. The French Supreme Court has ruled the “millionaire tax unconstitutional”. Not saying ours would do the same but if it can happen in France…..

    • BlueGood

Yes Orange, heard that on our very own Made in Canada “Welfare Radio”..aka CBC….which only costs taxpayers $ 1.16 BILLION EVERY YEAR!

      • Orangeone

Glad the Cannuck’s have gov’t paid too, love that “Welfare Radio” .  We have NPR (and state level too) and also “Welfare TV”

        • TitaniumEagle

NPR is 501c3, so of course, it doesn’t display any political bias. Ever. Right…?

          • Orangeone

Right!  And the unions are nonprofit organizations as well.  Hummmm, no wonder they don’t want a Republican in the WH.  If Bush had done his job, the IRS would have shut all of the unions down.

    • Kordane

There will still be a 75% income rate tax, since they said they’d just “re-word” it to make it more constitutional.

Don’t doubt that they can and will do that. A constitution is no barrier to statism, especially the French constitution at that.

  • Yazz55

No deal is better than a bad deal.

Keep in mind that this “crisis” is completely created by congress and the white house. The creators of this shenanigan aren’t able to fix it.

    • sjmom

We’re on the same page. I’d rather go off the cliff now because with one of their “fixes” we will eventually anyway.

      • warpmine

We’re already over and off the fiscal cliff. How in Hades are we supposed to pay our debt down when the credit rating is sure to be downgraded once again as soon as the agencies get wind that the regime and it’s rubber stamp Senate will do nothing in terms of responsible budget(sorry, isn’t a budget as required by constitutional law) cuts. The only question is how hard is the ground below and at the speed at which we’ll be arresting that fall.

  • Joe

I hope we reach the tipping point very soon for a “revolution”

The attacks on the good CITIZENS of this Country is out of control

I would at least like to see an IMPEACHMENT started-Just for fun!

    • sjmom

I’d rather see Obama tried for treason than impeached because then he gets prison time and can do no further harm. Impeachment did nothing about Clinton and seems toothless to me.

      • warpmine

        ….and ALL his minions.

        • sjmom

        • Joe

          OK by me here too!

      • Joe

        OK by me!

      • Part of the reason it was toothless was the spineless GOP senate refused to convict!

  • Mackie

I have said this numerous times: Christians have got to band together in solidarity against the ever growing infringements on their First Amendment rights under our constitution. Businesses like Hobby Lobby simply cannot carry the Christian banner alone. There are strong advocates in the legal profession out there who work to preserve our Constitutional rights, but they need strong binding support from all Christians.

    • badbadlibs

One is suppose to open fairly near me in March, I plan on shopping there as often as I can afford and get there.
I read on another blog a homosexual say he shops there to buy things to put a curse on Hobby Lobby. I let him know that being homosexual doesn’t seem to exempt one from being not too bright. I went ahead and clued him in on the fact by spending his money there he is helping to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and also keeping the company in business!
Being he’s a liberal, I don’t expect he’ll get it and will continue to spend his money at Hobby Lobby! 🙂

    • I’m not a Christian, however, I will still do everything in my power to protect the rights of Christians, or most faiths, in any way I am able. Most of the people in my faith do everything in their power to try to take rights away from Christians, Jews, etc. That is despicable behavior. I shop at Hobby Lobby, and now am spending even more money there to support them. Any group that tries to take the rights away from other people are the real problems. For me, this isn’t a religious issue, it’s a RIGHTS issue.

      • badbadlibs

        Bravo, Tracy!

      • mls008

It is unusual that someone who is not of the Christian faith takes any stand for Christianity. Thank you for supporting us and this business. I want to pray now that The Holy Spirit will continue to move you towards the truth of the Gospel of Christ Jesus…because Jesus loves you so much…He did what no other Priest could do…He made the ONLY ONE and true Sacrifice that is, was, and ever will be needed to face God and have a relationship with Him…So we are “pardoned” through Jesus’ sacrifice of His life and are assured that when we accept His “free gift” that we will spend eternity with God and His Son (Jesus)…I have some Bible Scripture for you: John 1:1-15 (NIV Word of God)…and also John 3:3-8…I pray also that God will send to you others that will help you to understand this and know that “Christians are never perfect, but should Always be striving and progressing to become more and more like Christ…be patient and Know that God wants to know you….
        Lovin’ Christ, Follower of Christ

  • Conniption Fitz

Stand with Hobby Lobby, Chick-Fil-A and all other businesses targeted by this illegal and immoral regime.

Hobby Lobby has more than just decorative items, there are staples like stationery, gift wrap, picture hangers, photo frames, book stands, storage boxes, tote bags, etc. I went there yesterday scouting for what I could buy to support these brave Christian company owners who will not back down because of their conscience.

    • Orangeone

Thank you for that great info on Hobby Lobby’s wide range of offerings. Because of your post, I just made a great online purchase to support them and because goodies are for the biz, get the tax right off too! That’s a one-two punch against Barky Boy 🙂

      • tvlgds

They are awesome. They’ve got just about anything you could possibly want. Almost everything is 1/2 off all the time -which makes them very competitive. I’ve gotten some really nice buys there.

      • RighteousCrow_JustCaws

Me too. There’s something for everyone, even if one of their creative gift cards! This should go viral. Here’s the link:

        • Orangeone

Thank you for posting the link! Thanks for supporting Hobby Lobby!  And thanks Scoop for posting the Malkin video 🙂

  • PovrlaChasse

Muslims and anything Islamic is exempt from any government edict concerning religion. Muslims cannot be forced to do anything which violates their conscience.

However, Christians are ordered to do as they are told and suffer under the lash of government force.

Yeah, of course, that seems perfectly normal and fair. But nobody better dare call Obama a Muslim. That would be CRAZY.

    • warpmine

Sure and in a sane world, Obama and all his minions would be swinging from trees by now but as I’ve said before, America hasn’t the stomach for Liberty anymore, present company excluded.

  • sjmom

Michelle as always was on point. The only thing I will disagree with is Boehner did not have the votes last time so unless more conservatives capitulate I don’t think he will have them this time.

Everyone keeps talking about how the GOP will be blamed if we go over the cliff but nobody has discussed what will happen to the GOP if they do cave on taxes. I think they will find losing the base more harmful than what any MSM organization or site can do.

Unfortunately, I cannot financially suppport Hobby Lobby because there are no stores in my neck of the woods but I am and will continue to support them in prayer.

    • Well said!

FYI: Hobby Lobby have an online store at: http://hobbylobby.com/ you might check out.

      • sjmom

      • I do like that they still carry dollhouse and miniature supplies…those are hard to find these days.

    • Orangeone

Hobby Lobby has a great online store and they have free shipping on orders over $25 through today.

      • sjmom

        I will.

        • Orangeone

They have super cute things too!

      • c4pfan

    • warpmine

Check out their website(sure they have one).
      Spoke to soon, thanks Wolfie.

      • 🙂

        Great minds! 🙂

If a Supreme Court judge can not recognize when a law violates the basic beliefs of a religion, or favors one religion over another they need to be removed. Supreme Court justices can be impeached, but the gutless wonders in Congress won’t act…time for a Constitutional Convention?

Let’s impeach someone. How about Barry? Let the race riots begin. The cities will burn, but…

    • demographicallychallenged

That is exactly why nothing is being done! Look at the Supreme Court appointments he has made.

      • tvlgds

And he’s got plenty of time to stack the court with a majority of America hating, Constitution ignoring idiots just like himself.

  • Hacker5988

They will not go over any Cliff. The folks will see where all the spending is going and neither the establishment PUBS or LIBS want the folks to know this, This is all show and a last minute deal will be cut to “save the country”. Of course the PUBS will cave all in the interest of “saving the country middle class tax increase” All BS ! This was the plan when Boehner & McConnell viste the WH after the election. Only good news is this could be the end of Boehner in January. The PUBS will lose big time ,AGAIN!

    • sjmom

Boehner out of the speakership…………from your computer to God’s ear.

  • Wanna bet that one of the MSM is going to find a former disgruntled employee to try and destroy the reputation of this fine business?

    • sjmom

You’re probably right and are now most likely sniffing out someone.

  • c4pfan

I just wish there was a Hobby Lobby closer to me! Maybe, they sell online?

Oh, and totally agree about the budget. The GOP will cave and I knew from day one they would.

  • You may just get more and more companies NOT paying into either Obamacare OR the fines. Unless the IRS wants to start closing down lots of businesses and religious organizations as well as throwing all of their top executives in jail, then how will the Federal government enforce this? If people just decided not to pay, what would the IRS really do? I don’t have a good answer to that, but what I do know is that Obama and his henchmen are pushing the outer edge of the envelope when it comes to civil disobedience. And this could get a lot worse, especially if the nuts in Congress decide for massive gun control laws. Try putting the owners of 300,000 million guns in jail. I don’t think that will work, do you?

    • Guest1776rcp

Doesn’t O-Care give the IRS power over your bank account? So unless businesses are hiding their money under the mattress the IRS will collect their fines one way or another.

  • Sober_Thinking

Michelle is right. Pray for Hobby Lobby and support them.

Regarding congress… pray that Reid and those other obstructionists on the Democratic side suddenly get a bad case of conscience and vote in a manner that will truly help the country and not their own twisted interests.

    • Reid’s been screwing America for-how long now? He’s made, literally,a FORTUNE off us;I seriously doubt he’ll develop a conscience in this life. He’s going to be leaving soon anyway.

      • Sober_Thinking

Two things: I still hope he gets right with God and I do hope he leaves soon – one way or the other. He’s a walking geriatric patient and continues to hurt this nation terribly.

  • joyfulgiver

If they can’t come to a “deal” then they should EXTEND the “Bush” tax cuts until they can meet with a REAL plan. That plan should begin with a BUDGET, a balanced one at that. It should also include EXTREME spending CUTS and that begins with doing what ever is necessary to overrule O’s Executive order to give pay raises to Bidn, congress, and govt. employees. Not one of those people deserves a raise at the expense of HARD WORKING AMERICANs. Personally, in the past four years we have lost over $20,000 in annual income because the companies working for down sizing and/or going out of business. No vacation since Jan 2009 and no pay raise in the forseeable future. CUT SPENDING!

    • I’m not nearly as worried about the taxes as I am about the lack of any meaningful spending cuts. Without them, you can bet the spending will increase enough to use up any revenue gained by more,or NEW taxes, plus some. So far,the best they’ve offered for spending cuts is their offer to cut spending in TEN YEARS. Please forgive me for not trusting a Liberal as far as I can throw one. (And I’m not near as strong as I once was.)

  • proudhispanicconservative

“Capitulationists” Meaning Tax collectors for the democrats.
I am pissed off in advance, for whats going to be another loss by the Rinos in Washington, yes they are going to cave. I wouldve loved for it to come during Levin’s show so he can call all of them out like he did on december 20 when the “Levin surge” stopped Boner’s plan B.

  • tvlgds

There’s a Hobby Lobby about a mile or so from my house and I do shop there. They get good prices, they’re a Christian based co. and closed on Sunday. I try to patronize both them and Chik Fil A for that very reason.

  • WordsFailMe

Republicans belief that money will bring power, Democrats believe that power will bring money.

The Republicans lie to keep their money and the Democrats lie to keep their power.

Their are no conservative in this government. A conservative believes that no matter what skunk is in the white house, it should keep it’s freaking hands off my Constitution, my guns and my kids.

Hobby Lobby, if you are waiting for some group of Catholics, Mormons or Christians to come to your aid, forget about it. You are going to hang alone, Mea Culpa, but you aren’t the first Christian forsaken by the rest. These Christians have good hearts and no guts.

    • ryanomaniac

WordsFailMe, you couldn’t be more right. I’ve said it many times here that christians have become lazy. We wouldn’t be in this state we are in if Christians which are the majority weren’t so lazy.

      • Guest1776rcp

The Churches themselves waive their First Amendment rights willingly by accepting the tax-free bribe from the government to keep their mouths shut about immoral pols. Sellouts, every one of them IMO.

        • WordsFailMe

I see way too much liberalism and tolerance in modern Christianity and, as for me, I have never seen the the Catholic Church stand for anything except going along to get along–Nazi Germany, Latin America, VietNam….And Protestant churches follow that model….

One’s salvation is not in one’s church but in one’s self.

      • WordsFailMe

I worked in the federal government for many years and saw very good people become complacent and conformist and silent in their anger at inefficiency as retirement approached.

Everyone knows this. Obama is unafraid to use this.

      • Even the “Lazy Christians” are infinitely preferable to the “Godless Liberals”.

  • tinlizzieowner

If it was called ‘Mohammad’s Hobby Lobby’ and it refused to provide free contraception over religious convictions, we wouldn’t be hearing anything about the ‘religious convictions’ issue right now and anybody who isn’t a situational hypocrite, knows it.

  • Albert Maslar

Would that the GOP would have the guts to do the same as Hobby Lobby…Openly defy the HHS ObamaCare regulation that was NOT in the original ObamaCare legislation but written in by turncoat catholic HHS Secretary Kathleen Sibelius who sacrificed her faith for WHAT?

  • white531

Well, having read your posts and listened to Michelle Malkin, I think I have a plan.

Go shopping at Hobby Lobby, and then go get some chicken, at Chick-Fil-A.

  • sDee

Support Hobby Lobby In The Fight for Religious Liberty

  • white531

On a more serious note, there is no question that American businesses are under attack by this administration. Obamacare is his signature piece of legislation, that defines his presidency. Any business that objects to this communist plan, called Obamacare, will get a stake driven through its heart. Hobby Lobby is only the beginning.

The ego of this man is so gigantic, that he will not accept any opposition to his grand plan. His total fundamental transformation of America, according to his own warped ideas, is sacrosanct to him.

I would feel better about all of this, if I looked out across America, and saw people like the people here on Scoop, in every nook and cranny.

Sadly, I don’t. These people you sit beside on an airplane, these people who work beside you in your office, these people who teach your children, these people you believe to be perfectly normal, elected this madman not once, but twice. Dream all you want, about saving this country from this madness, but those are the facts.

And now, they are using the sadness of what happened in the recent shooting, to try to take away our guns.

I know we talk about all these things on a daily basis, when they happen. We comment on them. We get rid of our anger. We offer solutions. It is a process of dealing with the madness. Meanwhile, they continue to implement their plan for doing away with Freedom in America. Deny it all you want, but they are well down the road, to doing just that.

  • el_polacko

this is all such nonsense. aside from operating a church, there is no such thng as a “christian business”. does this store sell ‘christian’ glue ? ‘christian’ glitter ?? of course not. the owners, the employees, and the customers are all free to believe in whatever religion they choose or to believe in none…but a business is a business and must abide by whatever laws every other business must abide by. imagine what a tangled mess there would be in the law if we were to begin giving exemptions for all of the many myriad and varied religious beliefs in this country. laws would become meaningless.

    • You mean like muslims?

    • It’s THEIR company NOT the government’s. In America we have different companies that offer different pay, different insurance etc.-it is a free choice to go and work somewhere! The government has NO RIGHT to insist that this private company offer what they the government deems the proper type of insurance ESPECIALLY when it involves offering medical assistance that violates their faith. This is evil and JUST the beginning. If the people don’t like what Hobby Lobby offers then noone will want to work for them and they will go out of business. It IS NOT FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO DECIDE when it comes to private-get it PRIVATE business. Where is your sense of autonomy and choice? I mean isn’t freedom to CHOOSE is what the country screams for????? Yet now the government has decided it will INSIST on so many things in our lives because why?? THEY know best-don’t think so! Time to stand up to the government and its overreaching authority!

  • Orangeone

This is an interesting development! The 7th Circuit (Chicago) Grants Relief from Contraception Mandate 2 days after Sotouttheidiots denies Hobby Lobby’s request for immediate relief…..hummmm this could get very interesting

  • Time to do a little shopping at Hobby Lobby! They run weekly coupons and all you have to do is pull it up on your iphone and show the lady at the checkout and you will get the discount! It is a great store with great products and they offer a peaceful shopping experience when in their store!!! Great inspirational music!

Christians need to stand with Hobby Lobby!

  • I love Hobby Lobby! I’ll be shopping there even more now just to put it to O.

  • Jay

Good for Hobby Lobby. At least a few of the people who call themselves Christians have a pair. The 0 regime seems to forget the part of the Bill of Rights that says “…and the free exercize thereof.” Unless it comes to Muslims, of course.

I’m tired of the fecal cliff. If the government keeps spending, borrowing and printing money, we’re going down the tubes anyway.

  • Guest1776rcp

I’m sure you’ve all heard that one shouldn’t talk religion or politics but who started this idiotic myth in the first place? Pols? I can see why pols wouldn’t want people talking religion, politics and morality etc… When someone tells me I shouldn’t be talking politics or religion I tell them they are morons then ask them why the pilgrims came here in the first place. Morons who parrot that nonsense are a dime-a-dozen nowadays. Shame!

  • Will continue to shop Hobby Lobby whenever possible.

  • Lizzy Marsh

This is probably the first time in history there’s been an attack like this on the Christian Faith, isn’t it? I don’t remember anything like this. I’m so sick of hearing about “precedent.” Precedent isn’t the law. The Constitution is the law. So if a corrupt judge issues a ruling, like this leftist parading around as a legitimate Supreme Court Justice, other judges should follow? Doesn’t that just make them corrupt?

It’s time to ignore the Supreme Court. They aren’t God. They aren’t the final say in anything. They are acting corruptly, including Roberts, so it’s time to ignore them. We know how to read. We don’t need them twisting the words of the Constitution to fit their agenda. Shame on the “Wise Latina.” She isn’t so wise.

    From tothepointnews.com

“Now we come to the HFR Hero of the Week, a fully appropriate one for the end of 2012 and harbinger of 2013.

On Wednesday (12/26), Justice Sonia “Wise Latina” Sotomayor refused to block the contraception mandate in Zerocare. That this is clear-and-present-danger evidence the Supreme Court has become a political institution that has abandoned any adherence to the Constitution, such that there is no longer any rule of law in America, is the subject of future discussion.

The point at hand is the plaintiff, the arts-and-crafts chain Hobby Lobby, in response yesterday (12/27) told the Supreme Court to go to Hell. Facing a fine of $1.3 million a day, Hobby Lobby has announced it will willfully refuse to obey the Zerocare contraception mandate.

This is heroic. The HFR is proud to salute Hobby Lobby and its Founder/CEO David Green as the Hero of the Week. May this company be the first of vastly more with the courage to disobey Zero’s Fascism in 2013.”

  • Yes, all Christians in America should shop at Hobby Lobby.

  • Diane Logan

Might someone show me where the founders created a welfare state and instead of having created a REPUBLIC they gave us what would later become the USSA ‘United Socialist States of America?
The left has fooled this nation into becoming a welcome wagon for the malcontents of other nations all the while demanding we give to those unwilling to help themselves, not the real needy, an access to a continuance of their greed.

  • DavidScottMasiwchuk

I support Hobby Lobby….My wife loves the place and that’s where my business for her crafts will go.

  • If Hobby Lobby sells ANYTHING I need, I intend to give them my business. I hope all Christians appreciate their courage enough to support them wherever possible.

  • mls008

These may be very “eye opening” statement, but they need to be spoken. Only in America are the rights of the most innocents taken in the name of so called “pro-choice” people. Okay, the opposite of LIFE is NOT
‘Choice”…it is DEATH…the opposite of STRAIGHT is NOT “Gay”…it is CROOKED…the definitions speak a message of the true meaning of a word.
