It’s one thing for people who aren’t around guns to not understand just how loud guns and silencers are. But for a sitting Senator who is opposing legislation about silencers – well there’s just no excuse:

When someone gets shot by a gun with a silencer, it's quiet. Witnesses might not hear. Police will be less likely to track down the shooter.

The same people who call awesome looking semi-automatic rifles ‘automatic assault weapons’ continue to show their ignorance for everyone to see. They get all their information from Hollywood and thus think they are experts.

You know, she doesn’t even need to go to a gun range to figure this out. She can go to youtube and watch people put sound meters on guns and silencers all day.
A gunshot is around 160 decibels. A good silencer will bring the decibels down to maybe 130. That would be the equivalent of putting on a good pair of earmuffs. It’s still dangerously loud, but safer for your ears.

Maybe someone will send Senator Gillibrand this post – though I doubt she’s interested in the facts, to be honest. I expect she has an irrational anti-silencer anti-gun agenda and facts won’t change that. But I’d love to be wrong.
