They are either getting more desperate over there at MSNBC or more stupid. Newsbusters caught MSNBC host Joy Reid, subbing in for Ed Schultz, trying to accuse Sarah Palin of hypocrisy because she has a Christmas tree in her home for Christmas. Seriously:
As Newsbusters point out, the passage she referenced has nothing to do with Christmas trees and everything to do with idolatry:
Jeremiah is not condemning Christmas trees. He is condemning idolatry. The trees in Jeremiah 10 are cut down to carve them into worthless idols that will later be decorated with gold and silver. Jeremiah says nothing about Christmas trees. That custom originated in northern Europe, not in ancient Judea.
It really is ironic to hear MSNBC selectively use the Bible to bash conservatives when they could care less about upholding it’s precepts.
