NBC does opposition research for Obama, finds clip of Romney telling Olympians they didn’t get there on their own

The fact that they even pulled this clip not only reveals their partisan position as an extension of the Obama campaign, but that they aren’t all that smart either. Basically what they’ve found is a clip of Romney honoring those who helped facilitate, train, encourage, and pay for the Olympians in their journey to the Olympics. A reasonable thing to do I think, however NBC is suggesting this is a rebuttal to Obama’s now infamous “you didn’t build it on your own” comments.

Watch below:

No one has ever denied that the people help people, but that wasn’t the argument that Obama was making. His argument was why people need the government, not why people need each other. I don’t why NBC would even post this clip as a refutation of that because it’s apples and oranges.

After posting this clip NBC notes that a Republican strategist had a similar response attributing this to the Obama campaign. That’s when they reveal that this was their doing, not that of the Obama campaign:

A Republican strategist sends over this response: “The Obama Campaign is comparing the government to a loving parent? What happened to Julia?”

For the record, the post did not originate with the Obama campaign but an NBC archive search.

So where was NBC in 2008? Definitely not in the archives room looking for footage of Obama, that’s for sure.
