NEW POLLING shows TRUMP keeping lead, Carson climbing! Hillary also holding on despite Bernie boomlet!

The reports of the political death of Donald Trump have been greatly exaggerated, as new polling shows that he’s keeping his lead, even as Ben Carson makes gains in catching up to him.

In the three swing states that Quinnipiac polled, el Trumpo only led in Pennsylvania in August, but he now leads in Ohio and Florida too!

“Those who were waiting for Donald Trump’s campaign to collapse will need to wait longer – at least in the three key states of Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania,” said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

In Florida, Trump tops his GOP rivals with 28%.  Dr. Ben Carson is second at 16% with 14% for Florida Senator Marco Rubio and 12% for former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.  Carly Fiorina and Ted Cruz are next.   No other candidate has more than 2 percent.

…In Ohio, 23% of Republicans support Trump.  Carson gets 18% and Ohio Governor John Kasich is third in his home state with 13%.  Senator Ted Cruz is fourth in Ohio followed by Carly Fiorina and Marco Rubio.

…In Pennsylvania, Trump has 23%, with Carson close behind at 17%.  Rubio has 12% and Fiorina 8%.

On the Dem side, Hillary still has a large lead:

Clinton leads the Democratic field in Florida with 43%, with Bernie Sanders and Vice President Joe Biden tied at 19%.

…Among Democrats, Hillary Clinton leads the field in Ohio with 40%.  Biden has 21% and 19% for Sanders.

…Clinton has lost some support since the last poll in August, but still leads in Pennsylvania at 36%.  Biden is at 25% and Sanders has 19%.

But it’s not all good news for the front-runners:

Despite their front-runner status, Clinton and Trump continue to have the worst overall favorability ratings among any of the leading candidates, and the lowest scores for being honest and trustworthy.

And in other news, Hillary is slipping in the socialist paradise of the People’s Republic of California!

From Politico:

Hillary Clinton’s advantage among likely California Democratic primary voters has slipped over the last five months, according to the results of the latest Field Poll announced Wednesday.

Less than half, 47 percent, said they would vote for Clinton, compared with 35 percent for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and others finishing within the margin of error, while 14 percent are undecided. In May, 63 percent went for Clinton, compared to just 9 percent for Sanders. And in February, Clinton outdrew Sanders 73 percent to 10 percent.

More than six in 10 (63 percent) said that a presidential run for Vice President Joe Biden, who has not declared for the presidency and was not included as an option, would be good for the Democratic Party. Just 22 percent said it would not be, while 16 percent had no opinion. But if he were to declare, just 15 percent said they would vote for him, compared with 31 percent for Sanders and 40 percent for Clinton.

And last and quite possibly least, el Trumpo definitely loved this news from a supporter on twitter named “TrumpGasm”:

Except it’s not really “new” polling because the Reuters/Ipsos is a continuous, rolling poll. Also they chose the best numbers for Trump in that poll from among Republicans in order to get 37%.

If you look at likely Republican voters, for instance, Carson jumps to 21% and el Trump falls to 32%:

Even so, Trump seems to be maintaining a large lead despite other polls earlier indicating that he might have been slipping.

Well, there’s still a lot of time left before anyone actually wins a primary.
