This is a great ad but I must admit that I just about feel in the floor laughing at Rick’s entrance toward the end. But his wife does a great job telling their story and I liked the bit about Washington needing some Christian values.

Flip Romney: A PROVEN LEADER, SOMEONE WILLING TO TAKE A STAND ON TOUGH DECISIONS!
    http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/12/21/romney-refuses-to-criticize-boehner-over-payroll-tax-vot/

Romney Refuses to Criticize Boehner Over Payroll Tax Vote

At a morning campaign stop at a restaurant here, Mitt Romney said that while he supported an extension of the payroll tax cut, he was not willing to get into the “Congressional sausage-making process” and refused to criticize the speaker of the House, John A. Boehner, for siding with Republican members in blocking the Senate’s proposed two-month extension of the tax break.

“As you know, I happen to support the idea of extending the payroll tax holiday,” Mr. Romney said, when asked about the issue at a news conference. “I don’t think this is going to change the economy, but it’s certainly going to help a lot of people in tough times. In this Obama economy, this is the last time to raise taxes. We don’t want to raise taxes at a time like this.”

Mr. Romney declined to say whether he supported Mr. Boehner’s decision to reject the proposal, which had the overwhelming support of Senate Republicans.Asked directly if he disagreed with Mr. Boehner, he replied: “I just told you my position,” he said. “I did not say that, so I’m not going to say that I said that. I’m going to work to find a solution. And how they make that work is something they’re going to have to decide amongst themselves.”

I’m sure there wasn’t enough time for a Frank Luntz/rasmussen poll to come out for him to have an opinion.

The candidates do not need to put more gas on the fire. Let the elected leaders deal with it. Back seat driving will make it worse.

“I’m sure there wasn’t enough time for a Frank Luntz/rasmussen poll to come out for him to have an opinion”

Oh wow- he is a little transparent isn’t he?

His entrance was kinda off. But time was ticking, he had to hurry.

    • orthodoxyordeath

It was off, but by golly, it made me laugh. I actually love how goofy it was…

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1396855720 Brian Jones

It made it seem realistic! We ALL know we are all JUST as goofy in real life! Our BEST moments are never timed perfectly, and it was refreshing seeing this moment similarly timed!

If the director knew Rick would be entering the shot, why would he seat Anita on the ground? There was no way for him to make a graceful entrance. He may as well have done a somersault. It does humanize him a bit, but it’s still poor planning.

  • Anonymous

Another great ad by Perry. Anita seems to be a sweet, lovely, down to earth person that I would be proud to have as our First Lady.

    • http://punditpawn.wordpress.com PunditPawn

Which means Libs will be going ape-$hit over the sight of her in this promo.

  • Anonymous

Why is he not breaking through the ceiling with support, this is a one hundred percent American grade-A, top drawer ad.

    • http://twitter.com/rmccorkle Harrison

Yeah it’s a mystery to me how this guy isn’t at the top by a wide margin. His record as governor, service to the country, spotless personal life, and Christian values are cast aside…why? Because he forgot a third agency of gov. that he remembered a min. later. Really? That’s it?

      • Anonymous

I really believe a large percentage of republicans are scared to death of an unapologetic down to earth Christian.

        • Anonymous

          This is true!

    • Anonymous

Don’t pay attention to the polls, they are meaningless except to the media. Sometimes they only poll 100 people, not exactly a cross section of the entire nation. Gov. Perry has plenty of money and if he keeps putting out excellent ads, I think he has a good shot.

As a side note: Your average citizen doesn’t give 2 hoots what the pundits say and are getting tired of Newt vs. Mittens talk.

We the people will decide in 2012 hopefully and not voter fraud.

      • Anonymous

You are right, the polls are just a snapshot in the moment, if he can hold out until the fourth Tuesday in February he will get a check from my wife and I.

  • Anonymous

Short ad, but very powerful! Perry2012!

  • poljunkie

    I like it.

  • K-Bob

His jumping in at the last moment was awkward, but Anita Perry came across very well. She seems like a clear-minded type to me.

Much better than the Mitt and Ann Christmas:

Did you see the Romney Christmas card photo? Cute kids, but what’s with the outfits?

Cute kids, but what booooooorrrrring colors.

        Where’s the Christmas spirit??

Somehow, I don’t think it was taken in the last couple of months. Where’s the snow?

          • http://twitter.com/ranjay25 rAnJaY25

            It doesn’t snow everywhere.

I thought it was a great ad and saw nothing funny about it. Would she not be a refreshing change as First Lady? A genuine lady!

    • Anonymous

… a genuine southren lady. (I know, I know it is not phonetical, but it is lyrical).

      • http://twitter.com/cfallon57 Cheryl Fallon

How do you know? I have lived in the deep sourh for over 25 years and can tell you that the sweet southern draw says nothing about a person other than what part of the country they might be from!

        • Anonymous

          Hi Ms Fallon.

Length of time one has spent in a place, or doing something may not be the only indicator of knowledge or mastery of it.

But, by way of telling you something of two Zen masters, possibly I may enlighten you.

You see the two masters were walking across a bridge one beautiful day and one looked down into the water below and remarked; “Look at the fish how they are playing and having fun.”

The second master looked the first right in the eye and said; “Since you are not a fish, how do you know they are playing and having fun?”

To which the first responded (as I now respond to you); Since you are not me, how do you know that I do not know?”

And with that I bid you a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year with many many returns of the season.

dang it… how can you not like them? :)

    Perry/West 2012

    • Anonymous

They are a cute couple. Rick and Anita not Perry/West – LOL!

  • Anonymous

Scoop, I had to laugh too! That was kind of a Spiderman entrance, wasn’t it!

  • Anonymous

LOL, was Perry playing leap frog?!

  • Anonymous

I must say if I were considering the First Lady as part of my voting decision i would probably lean toward Perry. Anita does seem like a classy woman.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kris-Smith/100000135417264 Kris Smith

Well, if the nominee is Perry, I’ll still vote for him or whoever wins the nomination..

I just ask that we play the NPR election theme when we beat the tar off Obama. (Yeah, I don’t like NPR anymore than most people here, but…their theme would really be rubbing salt in Barry’s wound…in my opinion)

Here is the link to the theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEUPIt-BeuI

First time I heard it was during the 2006 midterms. It was like they were mocking the Republican loss…

Well, now it will be Obama’s turn. XDD

    I empathize completely, Right Scoop.

Many times I have “feel” on the floor. (See opening paragraph and delete this if you care to take the time.)

I have slowed way down on my drinkin’ since those days.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1396855720 Brian Jones

That was quite heartwarming! Nice ad Mr. Perry! I sure hope he stays on a positive note. We can outlaw Mittens and outcast him for his negative ads…but only if everyone else stays positive in their campaigns.

  • Anonymous

I love her southern accent and HER point. He was a true goofball but I personally liked his falling entrance. I saw a twinkle in his eye for the love of his life. Sorry, Bill, no Monica s HERE.

  • Anonymous

    REAL!

  • Anonymous

Perry has been my first choice since he got in the race, gaffes and all. He is a proven leader. Not perfect but who is. Anita would make a good first lady since she is not an elitist. Cute ad. I hope Anita is making the rounds in Iowa. Anybody but O in 2012.

  • http://MsUnderestimated.com MsUnderestimated

You “feel” in the floor laughing? LOL…

    ;-)

I just hopped over to the Bigs (Breitbart’s site) and saw a video of Newt & Calista’s Christmas message. The message was fine, but I must apologize for being catty (I wish I knew how to make that cat screeching sound from my keyboard, you know claws out and hissing). After watching Anita in this ad and seeing Calista in the media there is no comparing Anita to Calista. I actually have ZERO respect for Calista. I’m sure Gov. Perry didn’t lavish Anita with gifts from Tiffany’s, but he didn’t have to because they had true love. (cat sounds again as I vent). Calista appears to be so out of touch, plastic Barbie…. I’ll leave it at that before I get out of control.

I know, I know, don’t get after me. I won’t be voting based on their wives, but it does say something about the man, doesn’t it? It would be nice to have a wonderful first lady again.

    • http://twitter.com/PoeAllen Allen Poe

Maxine, I believe the old saying, “Behind every great man, is a great woman”. Merry Christmas.

      • Anonymous

I always loved that saying! I think Anita is the great women.

Thanks Allen. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.

    • http://twitter.com/cfallon57 Cheryl Fallon

How in the world do you know this?

      • Anonymous

She has been an exemplary first lady for MY state for more than a decade. She has grace, class and has always made us proud in her role representing Texas. Considering the lefts hatred of Perry I am certain if there were any “bitch” stories they would have been printed by now. People seem to forget the absolute totality of vetting the Perry’s have been through over the last 20 plus years as he has risen through the GOP ranks.

  • http://twitter.com/PoeAllen Allen Poe

Merry Christmas to two great Americans. Thank you for all your efforts and accomplishments. How great a POTUS you will make, Rick. It is a pity, so many Americans are so confused. But, we peace warriors fight on. God bless America!

  • http://twitter.com/ranjay25 rAnJaY25

Rick looks like a slasher in the black outfit. Brings back memories of OJ and Nicole.

  • Anonymous

The end is funny, cute though. I like his wife, and I know their origins. His college transcripts are out there, where are Zero’s? Registered as a foreign student, Zero? Failing grades? I bet Rick Perry could back up his birthplace and true father. How about Zero? I guess we’ll have to wait for Sheriff Joe’s report in February.

  • Anonymous

I think it would be wonderful for America if Governor Perry and his wife Anita were the next occupants in the WH. Iowa is still fluid and Governor Perry is campaigning with confidence. I really believe that he has the kind of leadership and strength of character that our country desperately needs.

  • Anonymous

Nice ad…. My wifes exact quote was “ahhhh that was cute.”
