New Romney ad reminds us nothing is free, attacks Obama for raiding Medicare to pay for Obamacare

The Romney campaign has come up with a different approach to help people understand Obama raided Medicare funds to pay for Obamacare, which effectively guts Medicare:

Bang for the buck. Good ad. No wasted verbiage.

The majority of the baby boomers have worked hard all their lives, raised their families, worshipped God and loved their country. To have Obama try to transform their lives into vision that he has no foundation to build on is something they will not swallow like the lenmmings form the left do so willingly. If they follow the leftwing fanaticism that their country has been unworthy, then their lives has been a lie. That will not happen. Americans are known to not pay attention until the attention is due. Obama is going down because he should. He is terribly wrong for America and it cannot be denied by the majority of voters.

    • They more than anybody else know that nothing in this world is free. The only thing that will be “free” if ObamaCare is fully implemented is the space in our pockets or wallets where our hard-earned money used to be because we will be paying for O-Care (among other things) long after the $716 billion runs out.

Very nice-Makes one point, repeats it, point to a solution ans closes. These 15 sec pieces are very effective and informative and don’t generate a need to hit the mute button. Very professional and tasteful.

Except they ought to add a picture of Obama in a zebra suit at the end.

  • Goldni007

    This ain’t your McCain’s campaign.

I’m sure this is one of those “smear ads” Obama accused Romney of making.

Short and sweet. This is a winning topic and hope in September and October that they start pounding out these messages on national T.V. – America has to understand what a liar and a devil this monster in the white House really is.

As an extra point… check out this excellent article from Thomas Sowell. It really pin points what a threat Obama is:

    “Issues” or America?
    “Issues” or America?

There are some very serious issues at stake in this year’s election — so many that some people may not be able to see the forest for the trees. Individual issues are the trees, but the forest is the future of America as we have known it.

The America that has flourished for more than two centuries is being quietly but steadily dismantled by the Obama administration, during the process of dealing with particular issues.

For example, the merits or demerits of President Obama’s recent executive order, suspending legal liability for young people who are here illegally, presumably as a result of being brought here as children by their parents, can be debated pro and con. But such a debate overlooks the much more fundamental undermining of the whole American system of Constitutional government.

The separation of powers into legislative, executive and judicial branches of government is at the heart of the Constitution of the United States — and the Constitution is at the heart of freedom for Americans.

No President of the United States is authorized to repeal parts of legislation passed by Congress. He may veto the whole legislation, but then Congress can override his veto if they have enough votes. Nevertheless, every President takes an oath to faithfully execute the laws that have been passed and sustained — not just the ones he happens to agree with.

If laws passed by the elected representatives of the people can be simply over-ruled unilaterally by whoever is in the White House, then we are no longer a free people, choosing what laws we want to live under.

When a President can ignore the plain language of duly passed laws, and substitute his own executive orders, then we no longer have “a government of laws, and not of men” but a President ruling by decree, like the dictator in some banana republic.

When we confine our debates to the merits or demerits of particular executive orders, we are tacitly accepting arbitrary rule. The Constitution of the United States cannot protect us unless we protect the Constitution. But, if we allow ourselves to get bogged down in the details of particular policies imposed by executive orders, and vote solely on that basis, then we have failed to protect the Constitution — and ourselves.

Whatever the merits or demerits of the No Child Left Behind Act, it is the law until Congress either repeals it or amends it. But for Barack Obama to unilaterally waive whatever provisions he doesn’t like in that law undermines the fundamental nature of American government.

President Obama has likewise unilaterally repealed the legal requirement that welfare recipients must work, by simply redefining “work” to include other things like going to classes on weight control. If we think the bipartisan welfare reform legislation from the Clinton administration should be repealed or amended, that is something for the legislative branch of government to consider.

There have been many wise warnings that freedom is seldom lost all at once. It is usually eroded away, bit by bit, until it is all gone. You may not notice a gradual erosion while it is going on, but you may eventually be shocked to discover one day that it is all gone, that we have been reduced from citizens to subjects, and the Constitution has become just a meaningless bunch of paper.

ObamaCare imposes huge costs on some institutions, while the President’s arbitrary waivers exempt other institutions from having to pay those same costs. That is hardly the “equal protection of the laws,” promised by the 14th Amendment.

John Stuart Mill explained the dangers in that kind of government long ago: “A government with all this mass of favours to give or to withhold, however free in name, wields a power of bribery scarcely surpassed by an avowed autocracy, rendering it master of the elections in almost any circumstances but those of rare and extraordinary public excitement.”

If Obama gets reelected, he knows that he need no longer worry about what the voters think about anything he does. Never having to face them again, he can take his arbitrary rule by decree as far as he wants. He may be challenged in the courts but, if he gets just one more Supreme Court appointment, he can pick someone who will rubber stamp anything he does and give him a 5 to 4 majority.

Sowell always brings it home. While all that Hussein does is leftist, pandering, cronyism and vote gathering, the goal is a constant irreversible undermining of the Constitution.

Hussein is not the problem, it is the cabal that placed him there.

      • Sober_Thinking

Agreed. You make a good point.

Sorry to be gross… stop reading now if you like…

I was thinking that Obama is like the head on a pimple… scratch off the head and squeeze the infection out next. The cabal is the core.

    • Yes but I have seen no ads promising to investigate Obama and Impeach him. If what he did was unconstitutional Impeach him and take away his pension/benefits. Impeachment can happen after you leave office.

With no investigation Obama has just set the new normal.

      • keyesforpres

No need to impeach. He is an illegal office holder, a usurper. Usurpers should be frog marched off to jail.

      • Sober_Thinking

        Yeah… good point(s).

He’s been breaking the rules from the beginning… and just keeps whistling…

        I hope for eventual justice.

      • More than impeached, he and others in his administration will be occupying a 6 x 8 cell in a fed penitentiary. Fitting end for a bunch of true felons.

    • El Presidente’s “fact check” brigade is on it as we speak. He will have a “fact checked” response shortly.

  • Sober_Thinking

Discus or my computer is not functioning correctly… I tried to remove the entire Thomas Sowell article I accidently posted and just give the link… but something isn’t letting me do that. Sorry…

    • No apology needed as far as I’m concerned. It was a good read. 🙂

What a racist, hate-filled, fear-mongering, low-blow character-assassinating ad that was. No, wait, it was actually very good, true, and to the point.

Your turn, Mr. President. Try to tell the people otherwise, but be sure to keep the crowds small, so that you can reach them better. 🙂

  • The commercial should also mention that Obamacare will increase or create over 20 new taxes to support Obamacare. And if you’re an elderly or retired person living on dividend income from your 401K, you are going to get hammered. The taxes will hurt the very people Obama claims to be helping, the elderly. This has to be stopped and the only way to do it is to win in November.

  • Free stuff comes at a very high price. I like this ad. It’s short and punchy with a theme that’s repeated and reinforced all through it. The music in the background stayed a little lower then I’ve heard in other ads too. That’s a plus for me as well. Onward to November, and let’s get this done!

  • steprock

That’s crazy talk. Why not just tax those rich people more? They can afford it, am I right?

Rrrrrrright. I like Bill Whittle’s video on “eating the rich” to show taxing the rich at 100% of their income still won’t make a dent.

  • onetwopunch

For some in this country that have not paid taxes and receive full benefits, it has been “for free.” Sorry Scoop, your title to the post should have read, “New Romney add REMINDS TAX PAYERS nothing is for free.” I’m nit-picking I know. What is that percentage of people that do not pay taxes up to now?

  • brendawatkins

We’ve got to do something about this HIGH MAINTENANCE Administration.. Romney/Ryan 2012! Now that’s the ticket!

  • Hopefully seniors connect the dots between their constant uptick of costs to Obama raiding Medicare. And if seniors have a brain they will put dishonest AARP out of business.

  • NYGino

Nothing is free. Not only does Obamacare come with a massive price tag in dollars but there are other costs to us that don’t have a dollar sign in front. Freedom for one thing. We will no longer be free to Not purchase something. We will lose our freedom to decide for ourselves what kind of medical care we want and need, these decisions will be made for us by others. Just these two loses alone are enough to open the door to many more freedom stealing laws, the precedents have been set. The price in lives that our forefathers have paid for our freedom will be for nothing.

What is Mitts Health Care Plan? He says he will repeal and replace but with what?

He sounds just like Obama and Poloski. Have to vote him in to know the details.

    • kamiller42

      See section titled “Mitt’s Plan”

      • keyesforpres

Let’s just overturn ObamaNOcare. Replace it with one line: We can buy health insurance across state lines. That would fall under the Commerce Clause. Let the private sector reign. We don’t need the gov’t at any level making our medical decisions.

I hope you know how bad Perry is on islam.

    • Army_Pilot1967

I’d rather trust Romney to fix Medicare than to let obama continue pillaging Medicare funding for his grand legacy: nobamacare!!!

  • Yazz55

If you believe in free lunch or the tooth fairy, then you can believe that obamessiah’s free healthcare is actually free.

  • keyesforpres

We need an ad that tells folks you have to buy insurance or be fined. Then tell them all the dems exempted themselves from the bill, along with illegals, approx. 1500 other groups that donated to the dems, and muslims.
