Newt got a standing ovation when he slammed John King and CNN for starting the debate with a question from the ABC interview with his ex-wife. And when John King followed up, trying to suggest it wasn’t their interview, it got worse for him as Newt pointed his finger at King and told him it was their idea to start the debate this way.

Newt also categorically denied the ‘open marriage’ charge from his ex-wife, noting that several others that knew him have said that it is not true.

Newt won the debate in the first question:

That is some high-quality bitchslap right there

That’s exactly why Newt should be the one ‘in the ring’ with the One.

      • PFFV

Yup, that right there made me a Gingrich supporter! This is the Newt I used to like on steroids. He is a master of debate and look no teleprompter :D . He said what millions of us wanted to desperately hear “I am tired of the elite media protecting Barack Obama by attacking Republicans”, Go Newt Go… if he keeps this up he will win the nomination. Newt can be the next Reagan and I think he will be.

    • orthodoxyordeath

Only Newt Gingrich could turn infidelity into an advantage.

Goooooooo Newt – that was awesome no matter who you are for. Slam that media!!

  • Maxsteele

Whooo-hoooo! I gave a standing ovation in my living room and screamed in delight over this. “I am tired of the elite media attacking republicans to protect Barack Obama.”
Newt is my main man right now and John King is a spineless, sniveling, lapdog with his tail between his legs..

    • Anonymous

so did I Max, and I already laughed loudly knowing that the media will twist this as once again Newt got angry and out of control. I pray that Newt will give the Media including Fox and the Rinos a messy arse woopin everytime.

I just loved it! Nothing better than a powerful smack down to the elite media to start this debate! Go Newt!

Newt is a potentially dangerous candidate with a lot of questions and dirt.

But man he is fun to watch and his positions are solid enough that I can support him and lose no sleep. He is getting stronger imo.

      • Anonymous

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I wish I could agree with you but Newt’s not the man for me. Unfortunately I don’t like any of the front runners. I think in one way or another they’re all big government statists. Santorum may be the “lesser of the evils” but even he doesn’t give me the warm fuzzies.

        • Anonymous

Yeah, we’re all in the same boat I think…

This nation needed a Marco Rubio and/or Allen West in 2012.

We’ll have to focus on winning the Senate, House, Judges, and state legislatures now.

        • Anonymous

Gov Sarah Palin … even behind the scene … is setting the scene … we need her to rise and shine when the opportunity arises for a write-in … only if Romney rises and conservatives are on a low limb … she would sweep the floor!!!

    • http://twitter.com/Chris100358 Chris

Obama has made the not so palatable republican crew of candidates palatable. We need to get behind whoever (except Paul) is the nominee.

It’s like trying to decide who you will have to your house for Christmas dinner, Charlie Rangel or Charles Manson.

When whoever it is defeats Obama, we will need to CONTROL them by hammering them when they step out of line and start to go INSANE!
And support them when they STAND FIRM!

Oh well – keep working at the grassroots everyone to change Congress one seat at a time. It has taken the liberals in both parties 30 years to get these eunichs in there – it will take us half that time – it’s called inertia! Once we get going and people see the changes, real changes, the old guard will resign and the new guard will step up as DC becomes again a less swampy, depraved, cesspool(sp?), of old guard politicians.
      Go Spirit of Tea Party!
      Don’t TREAD on ME!

After the crowd response, I think the primary on Saturday may go well, after all. This interview may propel Newt into the lead by a wide margin.

Two standing ovations in the first question. wow.

    • Anonymous

on a side note…. love to see what Saturday Night Live does with this…. (LOL)

    • Anonymous

Monday’s debate — Newt received the first standing ovation in history … then these two … I’d say he is resonating with the audience … We would take almost any character if they would FIGHT for the heart of America … and right now he is the only one doing that … except of course, Sarah Palin.

If nothing else the media will have to rethink its strategy of how it attacks conservatives. They’re used to being critiqued on talk radio but they sure aren’t used to being confronted, directly, face to face, on national television. Newt is a breath of fresh air in this regard. The left is so used to being the bully and getting away with it. No more!

    • Anonymous

WOW, a guy below stood up in his living room and clapped for NEWT.

So did I, I wonder how many millions did that?

We are so hungry for a TRUE champion, we need to STAND up and kick some tail in DC ASAP.

Looks to me everyone here likes NEWT, so SC may be fun Saturday.

WE need the best fighter, whoever makes it to the end is OK with me.

Mitt and Paul doing much better tonight, but RIck has been desperate, I am afraid.
    VERY noticable.

I shouted at my TV and clapped really hard. I must admit I shouted an obscenity at John King while clapping that I’m sure my neighbors heard.

    • Anonymous

I think Santorum hurt is chances considerably tonight. He just didn’t do well at all. He needed to shine and he just looked uncomfortable. He didn’t even make a good case for where he stands or his proposals. He was an open wound tonight.

I thought that Romney gaffed noticeably more than once and may have gotten nicked. I feel this was his worst debate to date (for 2012).

Ron Paul did better than last time but I don’t think he won anyone over.

Newt did very well (again) and will likely do well in the polls.

I fear Santorum is almost done.

This year debates have become actually popular.
Normally, Americans hate them and won’t watch.
WE are freaked out that OBAME is ruling over us ignoring the Constitution.
Never happened in my life time, and I am 56.

CNN WAS dogging NEWT a little, after conceding he kicked them in the butt up front.

Big debate on when the QUESTION had to come.
Should not the debate be should the question come at ALL?

Newt nailed it, GRAND SLAM, but what if it would have been someone who could not handle it.

I see it tonight NEWT won with his first swing of the bat, but the the other 3 did well and it was nice they all had the time.

Rick attacked and it did not look good to me, but he was way behind trying to shake things up. He come in last looking back stabby desperate (and a little better than thou, like how hey act at church sometimes when you get your 3rd beer), even when he perfomed almost as well as anyone tonight, weird, huh?

Romney was a little shaky on some of his issues as taxes.
For some reason tonoght I liked Romney and Paul more than ever before.

Newt has the abiilty, and is the best debater too, to take on OBUMMER, to me.

We are looking for a PRESIDENT, not a tiddly wink player.

His confidence and personality is infectious, and I have not seen someone light things like that since REAGAN.
Reagan always made me feel like he was my smart Grandpa and he had the answers.

NEWT is Babe Ruth, the others are just players in the game.
The fans in the stands light up when it is NEWT’S turn, and I want the best to take on the ONE and only.

I still can’t believe Glenny Becky the Huckster is still trying to take this man out as he fights for his life and reputation against ALL comers, right in front of us.
HISTORY in he making, Newt is feeling it, all those sparkly things (Synaptics ?) must be going off in his brain when he hits the stage

HE is the only one who does not studder. Notice that? I just hope he has not sold his soul to the bad angel. Looks like he has the good angels on BOTH his shoulders.

Just ain’t fair to the boys when big daddy starts letting the sparks fly.

Sorry, to me he actually had a bad night (emotional stress in his voice) compared to Monday, but took on the kids wih half his brain tied behind him, and still knocked it into the upper decks. BABE should be his nickname as PREZ.

    NEWT – 38% (BABE)
    Romney – 24% (Timmy)
    Paul – 22% (Squeaky)
Rick – 14% (Whinny the poo)
    Perry – ? write-ins
Beck – BIG FAT ZERO PUTZ anti-progressive

    • Anonymous

Well Stated RJ. gb lost me with his tunnel vision on progressivism.

I held the Hukster in high regard when he was Lt Gov, but lost quite a bit after becoming Gov here in AR.
1.) he tried to buy votes by a grocery tax refund to everyone, which includes a rebate to those using food stamps which would have been like a loto windfall.
2.) he also tried pushing a state paid tuition for secondary education of illegals.
I like a lot of things he did as Gov, but those showed me he was not a true conservative.

Newt is champion of the media putdown. He did well tonight.

  • Anonymous

At least once a month President Gingrich will have to give his own daily press briefing.

2.) to keep the media in check.
    3.) for R & R

I think this gave Newt the edge early in this debate, he was the one to beat after that, and while I think Santorum did his very darn best to take it from Newt, I think Gingrich was able to hold on and won this debate.

  • s.hayward2

If newt isn’t made the nominee for a fight against the annointed one. Iam giving up on politics. The man knocks it out the park. They love him. And you know, I have heard individuals say he won’t get the female vote. Michael savage says it’s because newt doesn’t turn him on like a lean black man ,newt looks to me like a cuddly grandad (we all know in reality he holds a machete behind his back though) ,he might not look like a male model but I disagree that newt doesn’t have a pleasant image. And really if the election comes down to who people would ‘do’ out of Barack or newt I don’t want to be part of the human race.

Also on his martial issues which apparently turns women away , from what I know, women like a scoundrel. And again ,there are far more important things to discuss than newt and his liking for rumpy pumpy. Women are sensible individuals surely they can see the bigger picture than this? As a man I kind of like it there could be a player in the whitehouse .Barack always struck me as being led by his wife. This is between newt and his family.

Anyway,Iam disgusted with the media and whoever is behind this. I want the most capable person as nominee, to me this is a distraction not only wasting airtime but potentially making sure the republicans nominate a weaker candidate.

Snap! heheheh. I don’t believe Newt (his ex is probably telling the truth), but the GOP needs someone to take it to the left like this. Romney doesn’t have the spine. Face it, there is no great candidate this year. This is what the GOP is left with. So who would you rather bring the fight and make the arguments for the right? Santorum comes off like a prissy, peeved finger-wagger. Paul has a few good ideas, but is far too dangerous and out of the mainstream on foreign policy. That leaves Romney and Gingrich. Of the two, even if Romney polls better against BO, he won’t be able to bring the fight like Newt.

It’s not just a matter of making BO look bad in the debates. It’s that the right needs SOMEONE to argue their point of view to the nation. Socialism vs. capitalism. Romney is the wrong guy to bring the fight, because a) he looks like a bankster and is extremely wealthy. Like it or not, given current conditions (the anger at Wall St. and the bailouts, high unemployment, jobs being outsourced, the Dems running a class warfare campaign, etc)…this is NOT the election to run a bankster-type, b) Romney is not great at stating his case and making his arguments, c) Obamacare/Romneycare. You can’t run against Obamacare having been the creator of ROmneyCare. It won’t work.

That leaves Newt – warts and all. There is no perfect candidate. Time to deal with reality. I think Mitt would be fine too, but he just doesn’t have that FIGHT that Newt has.

Newt should hire someone to research the 2007-2008 campaign to find every “journalist” who interviewed John Edwards. Then, for the next week, grant interviews to each one who is still around covering this cycle. When they ask him about Marianne and her accusations he should ask them if they asked John Edwards about Ms. Hunter since it is now known that it was common knowledge among the campaign press corps that Edwards was having an affair with her. While he was actively campaigning for the Democrat nomination with a cancer stricken wife.

John Edwards is Newt’s pass on this topic. He should bring it up every time he’s asked about it.

I’m glad this question was asked at the onset, so that we can move on.

I think they do this purposely to see how Newt “unhinges” when asked explosive questions. But, they were in for a rude awakening last night and John King was the recipient of that take down. Way to go Newt.

This feeds into their narrative of the RINOs/MSM/pundits that Newt is an “angry”, “arrogant”, “grandiose”, and so forth.

I just hope the South Carolinian’s and not like the Iowans, know the difference between tabloid news and real news that has substance.

Newt should have taken it one step further on King. Where was the outrage that Obama sat in a racist church for 20 years…where was the inquiry there? Where was the inquiry on Obama’s association with Bill Ayers and other well known socialist terrorists? Obama still has these associations, but why isn’t the liberal media riddling him with these significant questions? Newt pointed out the obvious bias and any candidate facing Obama for the GOP had better develop the backbone to do the same with even more pointed questioning of the media! We still have far too many sheep getting their information from these liberal wolves and believing them. It is time to bring real journalism back and put it in its place by not settling for this sensationalistic crap that only takes away from dealing with the real issues.

Newt is on a roll – he went Juan on Juan with Mr. WIlliams and won that round handily and now, has “Newt-ered” John King, all without the aid of a teleprompter. A two-fer in one week!

    Two conclusions from this episode:

First, never has the contempt for the mainstream media been demonstrated, so powerfully, as during the standing ovation Newt received during his challenge to CNN.

Second, the media ain’t gonna touch Newt anymore. Not Wolf Blitzer, not Anderson Cooper, not Chrissy Matthews, not Matt Lauer the girly-man. None of them want to be humiliated by the righteous indignation that Newt heaped on John King.

    Bravo, Newt!

The only negative thing about that opening is it made the rest of the debate anti-climactic!

I dislike when the media pries into the private lives of public officials. Things that happen with you and your spouse is your business and nobody elses….. but since we know what we know about Newt and his 3 wives we have no choice but to acknowledge. Even if you disregard the shameful and dirtbag method of how he left his previous wife, excuse me his previous wives, does this not attest to the hypocriscy of Newt, who is your standard GOP warrior of traditional marriage? This is one of those republican talking points that irks me. All this talk about how marriage is so sacred, yet look what these “protectors of marriage” are doing within their own marraige(s)!

Also, isn’t adultrey a sin? Last I checked, Jesus was a top dog in Republican circles. So not only is this an offense against traditional marriage, but an offense against the man upstairs. How can we let this slide???

      Yes it’s a sin, however it’s not a crime.

That was great. Too, too bad that with Newt’s past record how can we vote for him? If only Santorum could show fire like this he would get the votes and the nomination.

John had that, dear in road glare, that reads, why did I have to be the supid @ssh*l^ liberal trying to butt heads with a brick wall like Newt.

I’m sure the first thing john did to regain his liberal strength was to read one chapter of carl marx right after the debate.

That’s what I call pounding dirt. Great job Newt!
Obama is already shaking in those marxist boots.
THE O knows he is a loser on his way out in 2012
