First they spend a trillion dollars claiming that will ‘stimulate’ an economy in recession. Remember those ‘shovel ready jobs’?
Then they argue, over and over I might add, that unemployment benefits will stimulate a still-fledgling economy and that’s why Republicans must pass them. I guess we’re still waiting on that stimulus.
And now, after several failed attempts at stimulating the economy, they are arguing that raising the minimum wage is the key to fixing a still-sluggish economy. Seriously, that’s exactly what Rep. George Miller (D-CA) said, according to CNS News:
“Because the economy is sluggish and your wages are the key to the recovery, we have to increase those wages,” Miller said. “That’s what this is about.”
By making people believe that raising the minimum wage is key to our economic recovery that we’ve been waiting on for 5 years now, this enables him to argue that GOP opposition to the idea is really the GOP standing on the throat of our economy:
“So what are the Republicans doing when they won’t vote for the minimum wage?” Miller said. “They’re standing on the throat of our economy.”
How is taking away money from a business and giving it to their employees going to grow the economy? It’s just more redistribution by the government. Nothing is being created here that will add value to the economy. In fact it will have the opposite effect by raising unemployment and stifling job growth.
This is nothing but more vote-bribery, something Democrats have mastered over the years.
