NRA releases statement on Sandy Hook school massacre, will hold news conference on Friday

The NRA has just released this statement:

The National Rifle Association of America is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters – and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown.

Out of respect for the families, and as a matter of common decency, we have given time for mourning, prayer and a full investigation of the facts before commenting.

The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.

The NRA is planning to hold a major news conference in the Washington, DC area on Friday, December 21.

Details will be released to the media at the appropriate time.

Sadly they will become the bogeyman for the left as they seek to personify their enemy to accomplish their goals. We must all stand with them and fight for our rights protected by the 2nd amendment.

  • Well considering that some people have already called for the murder of NRA folks, I doubt the drones in this country are going to listen to anything no matter how much common sense it makes, from the NRA. I need to scrape up some money and join.

    • sDee

Been wearing my NRA hat all day long!

      • I need to wait for a few pay checks first to come in, but when they do, I’ll be wearing mine too sDee 🙂

    • virginiagentleman1

After guns, ya gotta know they’ll be after yer bow and arrows next!

      • I know it myVirginiaGentleman! Then my Louisville slugger!! >:( They can dream on.
It’s nice to see you dear friend! Just wish this was a better circumstance- but I’ve missed you.

        • virginiagentleman1

I’ve been spending a lot of my time with med tests in preparation for my surgery; x-rays, blood tests, etc. Not much fun!
Believe it or not I used to have a bit of a phobia about needles going into my skin but now I’ve had so many that unless they are doing blood gases from an artery I hardly even notice them. It is amazing how drawing blood from an artery in my wrist can hurt so much!
Have you been doing well Milady?

          • I remember once I tried to donate plasma. The needle was huge- but none of the people could find a big enough vein in my arm, so I couldn’t do it. Oy, I don’t envy you much right now myVirginiaGentleman, but know you’re always in my prayers and I hope all goes well with the surgery!!

I’m hanging in there. Took a bit of a break from “business” but I’ll hopefully have some new video ideas happening soon. Trying to get into the Christmas spirit, but I just don’t have it yet. Too many people in my thoughts. Other than that, I’m finer than a frog’s hair 😀 (((())))S my dear friend!!

          • toongoon

So you’re turning into a human pin cushion my friend? Continuing to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I hope your family is well.

            • virginiagentleman1

Howdy Toon! We are all decked out for Christmas and beginning to get visits from the kids and grandkids. You ready for it?
We are well my friend and I thank you for asking!

              • toongoon

You bet! The tree is up and the cookies are baked and frosted. My entire family, minus a few, will be at my house on Christmas Eve. My wife and kids are the only conservatives who will be there. My facebook page is plastered with Democrat hypocrisy for all to see and not one of them will say a word to me about it. It’s going to be a wonderful Christmas. 🙂

                • virginiagentleman1

ROFL! Sounds like you will be outnumbered.
But since it is Christmas Eve, no politics allowed!
Something much more important is happening, we celebrate the birth of our Saviour!
I have to pause here and THANK GOD! that He allowed me to live to celebrate this Holy Season. It was touch and go for a while, but I’m still here and that is the second best gift! The FIRST is JESUS, my Lord and Saviour!

It is a fantastic Christmas season my dear friend!

        • Didn’t England try to ban pointed steak knives a few years back?

    • badbadlibs

Did these people happen to mention HOW these NRA foks should be murdered? Don’t tell me, with someone’s bare hands……what morons.

      • toongoon

Here you go badbad, and this guy is a Democrat precinct committeeman in Bay Area Houston, HE ALSO SERVES ON THE TEXAS STATE DEMOCRAT COMMITTEE!

        • badbadlibs

Hey, this is getting personal…he wants NRA members to be shot and those who defend them…that’s ME and YOU and everyone else who doesn’t keep their head so far buried up their behind they can’t think straight! Wow, they want to curb the violence? Then arrest that murderous jack butt, pronto!

          • Gotta love the tolerance of the left dontcha. Twitter has had plenty of love coming from the left too on killing those who agree with the 2nd Amendment.

            • badbadlibs

Someone needs to bring suit or call the police or something….these morons get away with calling for the same thing they screaming about, HOW on God’s green earth does someone get that stinking stupid???????????????

              • They see the hypocricy of our government and lamestream and follow like the sheeple they are. 🙁 Psalm 37…

                • badbadlibs

This is for all those evil doers from the actress to the Texan democrat to the rest of them that think their day isn’t coming:
Thought I’d just print out that Awesome Psalm 37!

                  The Insecurity of the Wicked

                  A Psalm of David.

1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers,

neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass,

and wither as the green herb.

                  3 Trust in the LORD, and do good;

so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

                  4 Delight thyself also in the LORD;

and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

                  5 Commit thy way unto the LORD;

trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light,

and thy judgment as the noonday.

7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him:

fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way,
because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath:

fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

9 For evildoers shall be cut off:

but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be:

yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; Mt. 5.5

and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

12 The wicked plotteth against the just,

and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.

13 The Lord shall laugh at him:

for he seeth that his day is coming.

14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow,

to cast down the poor and needy,
and to slay such as be of upright conversation.

15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart,

and their bows shall be broken.

16 A little that a righteous man hath

is better than the riches of many wicked.

17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken:

but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.

18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright:

and their inheritance shall be for ever.

19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time:

and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

20 But the wicked shall perish,

and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs:
they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

21 The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again:

but the righteous showeth mercy, and giveth.

                  22 For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth;

and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.

23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD:

and he delighteth in his way.

24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down:

for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

                  25 I have been young, and now am old;

yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken,
                  nor his seed begging bread.

                  26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth;

                  and his seed is blessed.

                  27 Depart from evil, and do good;

                  and dwell for evermore.

28 For the LORD loveth judgment,

                  and forsaketh not his saints;
                  they are preserved for ever:
but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

29 The righteous shall inherit the land,

                  and dwell therein for ever.

30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom,

and his tongue talketh of judgment.

                  31 The law of his God is in his heart;

none of his steps shall slide.

32 The wicked watcheth the righteous,

                  and seeketh to slay him.

33 The LORD will not leave him in his hand,

nor condemn him when he is judged.

34 Wait on the LORD, and keep his way,

and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land:
when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

35 I have seen the wicked in great power,

and spreading himself like a green bay tree.

36 Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not:

yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright:

for the end of that man is peace.

38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together:

the end of the wicked shall be cut off.

39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD:

he is their strength in the time of trouble.

40 And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them:

he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them,
                  because they trust in him.

                • Like cool water to a parched land isn’t it. Ahhh, can you see why I’ve been living off this Psalm for so long? 🙂 Thanks for printing it all out badbad. xoxoxo

                • badbadlibs

YW. I did go back and edit out most of it, I wasn’t sure if I was going to take up too much space.
But, I sure appreciate your reference to that magnificent Psalm.

It is personal. It is a bunch big mouth morons who would get down on their knees and cry like a baby if the same threat were made toward them.

            • badbadlibs

Whoever made those same kind of threats to those vile pukes (sorry, but that’s what they are) would be making headlines day and night…conference calls would be occurring, the left would be in a tailspin of activity to spread the word, the prez would be calling for civility at the same time he applauds them….good grief almighty…a body can only take so much!

          • Orangeone

Not only that but they are still active on Twitter even though they have made these domestic threats.

          • Don

Uncontrollable hate and the desire to destroy those who disagree with them is what makes liberalism a mental disorder. Check your dictionary and look up the word bigot. It describes a liberal perfectly.

            • badbadlibs

I have no doubt they are the biggest bigots on planet earth. They have taken projecting to levels never before known to mankind. Wow, they are one sick bunch of….fill in the blank, but don’t use the word people.

        • The guy looks like Hugo Chavez. I wonder if thee is any relation? 🙂

      • NYGino

badbad, now that you bring that up, I’m calling my representatives and demanding that something be done about the untenable “human hand/opposable thumb” situation.

Far too many people have been killed by this means. Something has to be done, this must be addressed, and quickly.

        • badbadlibs

Thanks for the laugh and the cry at the same time! 😉

        • Nukeman60

More people are shot by people with hands than people without hands. I think we should ban hands. The Muslims already do this. Perhaps, that’s where Obama is heading.

          • NYGino

So, as I see it, we are heading towards the end of the digital world. hmmm

        • If they ban thumbs, then they will have to allow so many people to keep them so that they can have prosthetic thumbs made for themselves.

          • NYGino

This will also be the end of hitch hiking as we know it.

  • Howzah123

The Left is blaming the NRA more than Adam Lanza. It’s sickening.

    • objective123

People kill people. Guns like a knife, a bomb, etc… if used to do evil kill people. A gun left alone does nothing. However, you can’t explain that to a leftist. God stated in Ecclesiastes that the left is for the fool and right is of God.

    • loriannringold

You are absolutely right. This is personal. They are coming after us fast and using the media to bash gun owners every chance they can get. It sickens me. Next, they will require all semi-automatics to be turned in. Not gonna happen to mine. I will never trust the government to protect my family.

      • sDee

It will be far more subtle and sinister.

I believe they will not confiscate our guns but will make owning them or using them so onerous it will put the average gun owner in jail and so liable in both civil and criminal court that anyone arrested, will permanently lose the right to own a firearm and go bankrupt defending ourselves..

They will like do what California has done to semi-automatic rifles – specifically AR15s. They will require magazines to be removed with a tool. They will make magazines over 5 rounds and “scary” stuff like pistol grips illegal. Along with it they will start “police actions” as California has resorted to, which essentially give police the right to search a car or home for illegal stuff like magazines and pistol grips. The only probably cuse they will need is that you are a register gun owner. If you own a gun it is probable that you have an illegal magazine or an illegal grip configuration.

Even if current gum and magazine owners are “grandfathered in”, we will be public enemy number one for search, seizure, harassment, arrest, bankruptcy and stripped of our rights to ever again own guns .

        • Orangeone

Doing any of this will push this country to the Civil War that Barky Boy wants. What he doesn’t realize is that we can defend ourselves without social media while he can’t put socks on without BlackBerry communication.

The question will be, will those that he orders to use them to kill Americans actually do it.  If that answer is yes, then the Mayans might just be right about the 21st.

I fear there may be some who will obey….how about any left like the U.S. Army Major at Ft. Hood, that bo failed to mention in his list of massacres?

true, he hs an army of mooslims

          • proudhispanicconservative

This is all bullcrap coming from the left, I predict nothing is going to happen, as far as legislation, with 2014 approaching this to me opens up an oportunity for any republican, as it gives us ammunition to go against the tyrants, the NRA has been quiet, but dont expect them to just fold, I have said it before they are very powerful, and the left even though they have Soros, and Bloomberg, they are no match for the NRA.

  • notebene

The left doesn’t want to face the truth of the cause, which is the lack of mental healthcare. That’s because it was the left that pushed for the destruction of mental health institutions which lead to ridiculous laws with circular dysfunction resulting in seriously mentally ill criminals running loose and without proper treatment. What passes for psychiatric care is a sick joke and an extremely dangerous one. Columbine, Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech, and Fort Hood didn’t happen because of a gun, it happened because of the mad men that committed the crime with the blessing of the left. It really make sense to think someone with a serious mental illness is going to voluntarily get help…not. If anything, the NRA should be commended for teaching citizens to be informed and responsible when it comes to gun ownership! The hypocrisy of the left is endless, but so is the resolve of intelligent and informed American citizens!

  • Orangeone

Please tell me the NRA isn’t going to consent to a ban on guns or more gun control….

    • toongoon

Hopefully, as long as Boehner doesn’t become preazy of the NRA.

At lunch today in my work cafeteria (in a very blue state), there was a TV in the background with CNN wailing on and on about assault weapons and large clips etc, etc. I was sitting with a peer and our boss (who’s wife is a teacher) and both of them got sucked into commenting about how ridiculous it was that guns were available, and how things are getting worse, and how people shouldn’t be allowed to own guns. Needless to say I was in a delicate situation. I could not come out of the gate as confrontational even though the platitudes they were regurgitating were straight from the MSM reports on the tragedy.

I gently started to contradict some of their assumptions like how terrible a “Semi-Automatic” was by explaining exactly what that meant. I told them about the recent incident in a mall where the young man of about 22 was able to stop the shooter simply be being seen with his weapon. I explained how No Gun Zones were magnets to crazed shooters and cited the Batman movie incident where there were seven theaters in the area, but the gunman chose the only theater that advertised a No Gun policy. I stated how I would rather have armed teachers in the school that could offer instant resistance.

In short, I had one of my first attempts to rebut the lies and misconceptions that the Obama administration and the MSM are force feeding the average low info American. I feel pretty good about it too.

    • Excellent PicklePlants!!

    • Orangeone

Excellent way to handle the Obamabots! It is the misinformation on CNN that is causing people to scream for the elimination of the 2nd Amendment and for the death of NRA members and leaders.

      • BlueGood

Excellent retort PP, ABIC & Orange….the GUN DEBATE is raging in Canada here too AGAIN!…

Leftoids always want to blame the GUN…..instead of their mistaken policies to remove Mental Health services from North America!

        • Orangeone

It’s long past time Canada adopts the US 2nd Amendment and right to bear arms.  It’s one sure way to stimulate the economy 🙂

        • So, what, no more moose hunting? Isn’t that about the only ones outside of cops who have guns now in Canada? Or are they going to outlaw cops from having them.
Oy, what happened. Rhetorical. I miss the good ol’ days on both sides of the border.

    • sDee

Excellent. And congratulations for keeping your cool.

I lose patience too easily but, find that asking the “media mouth’rs” to tell me exactly what gun control they would propose, it provides an opening.

    • toongoon

Congratulations. You should feel good about it. It’s probably the only contrary view they’ve ever heard that wasn’t ridiculed as part of a MSM hit piece.

My boss is a big lib, and a few years ago when a guy shot a burglar in his house my boss said the family should have hidden in one room of the house and called the police. He went nuts when I suggested that the man has a right to protect his family. We don’t discuss these things anymore, he can’t handle anything outside of his liberal box.

    • Orangeone

I would love to hear about Part 2 when you are brave enough to mention Fast & Furious gunwalking (don’t tell him it was Holder and Obama until they are sufficiently shocked).

  • NYGino

If logic and clear reasoning are in the forefront the second amendment will be enforced and adhered to. There are many examples of the good that come from an armed citizenry, as our founding fathers knew and understood. There are also many examples where strict gun laws actually increase the number of crimes committed against law abiding citizens.

Look at Illinois. Very strict gun laws and Chicago by itself is on track to record over 500 killings this year. These criminals don’t care about gun laws, only law abiding people do.
Whenever and wherever strict gun laws are put in place violence increases and, conversely, where there is a right to carry instituted, violence decreases.

This is the logic and reasoning, stripped of raw emotion, that should be used in any conversation about gun control.

To focus solely on gun laws when a tragedy like Sandy Hook happens is wrong. The heart of the conversation should look at mental health issues. There were many people who knew that this person had a problem but maybe the feeling was that it would be politically incorrect to address his issues.

It is a disingenuous government that demands an unarmed citizenry. One not to be trusted.

Hear, hear NY! It can’t be stated enough, they are not interested in the guns used in Chicago and other big city gangs. They want us to be susceptible to them.

    • PicklePlants

That is a great point NYGino that needs to be made over and over again. I sent this link to my co-workers before I left today:

Does anyone know if there is a website that collects these stories? I would love to be able to cite a few. The problem is they don’t get reported enough.

  • sDee

American Rifleman came today. Wayne LaPierre’s column is The Billionaire Versus We, The People.

The billionaire is none other than Michel Bloomberg. This is full blown campaign by an uber marxist billionaire against just regular US citizens. Massive wealth used to strip citizens of their rights. Welcome to Amerika.

    Billionaires versus individual Americans.

How do you fight an unspeakably wealthy troll obsessed with a sociopathic vision for the destruction of the rights and freedom of citizens? There is just one Michael Bloomberg with his millions of dollars to be spent on taking down our NRA and with it the Second Amendment. But there are millions of us.

A one-man counterweight? Massive wealth? Just what do the Bloomberg big-media water-carriers think the NRA is? We know. It is people—millions of individual Americans who believe in our liberty and will fight for it wherever it is threatened. And yes, NRA spends millions to protect the Second Amendment. To do less would guarantee the loss of our freedom.

We fight a Michael Bloomberg or a George Soros with our collective voice and collective funds that can only come from individuals of modest means—the price of a tank of gas or a box of ammunition or a day at the range. That’s how we stop Bloomberg.

you can read his column here:

    • Orangeone

I will join the NRA after their press conference on Friday. I fear they are going to give Barky Boy what he wants thinking that will appease him. If they do, we will lose our 2nd Amendment rights by the end of 2013.

      • sDee

Reasonable I would say. I do not hang my hat on much but I believe that press conference will just be perfunctory PR fluff.

The NRA will go after this. And I hope, will go full blown “Alinsky” on Bloomberg.

    • proudhispanicconservative

      Just an awesome article.

  • SaraPFan

We live in an age of terrorism. Terror cells are lying dormant in the United States just watching for a more opportune time to continue their jihad. If we take away our 2nd amendment right to protect ourselves, doesn’t this proliferate the jihadist cause to seek and destroy us on our own soil?

    • sDee

They have won over the Natural Slaves with free stuff and mental pablum.

They need fear to bring the next herd to plead for safety at the alter of Government.

The rest of us they have to disarm.

      • NYGino

You’ve covered all the bases sDee. Sounds like you have a direct line into the impostor’s inner circle. If I may say, this seems like exactly the plan they would devise to further destroy our country and bring the people to their knees, ready for slaughter, figuratively speaking of course.

    • Betsey_Ross

This is my biggest fear. Obama has signaled that he is going to disarm Americans, but it was a school incident that finally gave him the impetus to do it. Schools are sitting ducks for terrorists. They’ve already done it a couple of times in Russia. Horrific death tolls of women and children. The police and even the army were not able to stop it. No one was armed and the terrorists had their way for three days. Three days of hell and death for those involved. This will be coming here if we allow Obama and the Dems to have their way. The cells are here and waiting for orders.

      • BlueGood

Not to mention Israel Betsey, however, the Israelis caught on Toot Suite and Posted ARMED GUARDS in their schools!

    • toongoon

      …and that’s just the democrats!

  • sDee

Dick’s Sporting goods took rifles off their shelves today. I am never shopping there again.

Went over to Gander Mountain and bought the rifle I was looking for and some high cap magazines.

    • badbadlibs

I plan on going to a Dick’s Sporting Goods and telling them that is the last time I will darken their doorways until they regain respect for the 2nd Amendment.

      • chatterbox365

Be sure to tell them to live up to their store name…LOL!

  • 57thunderbird

I hope the NRA isnot going to cave to Oblamer. There is no room for compromise on the 2nd amendment. The 2nd amendment was designed as the final safeguard against tyrannical government.

  • Susanna958

Heh, they can always do like ACORN and change the name. (sarc)

  • virginiagentleman1

I have gone about my life armed for years. In Virginia as long as your weapon is worn openly visable to the police and public, you are abiding by the law.
Each legislative session some democrat a$$-hole introduces a bill that would restrict our 2nd Amendment right to carry arms. Each session it is voted down.

Charlton Heston said it best, ” you’ll get my guns only from my cold dead hands ” !
Ya gotta love a guy like that!

  • Thank GOD for the NRA.

  • proudhispanicconservative

I want to join them, they haved behaved like all law abiding human beings, they have waited and have not said a word out of respect for the families, but now comes the fight, how despicable are the left, to not even wait until the bodies of those babies were even cold, before they started politicizing the issue, but they are gonna soon find out that messing with gun laws is radioactive, and better prepare for a fight. I am dissapointed that not a lot of progun republicans have come out defending our liberties, except for one of my heros, Golmert of texas.

    • 57thunderbird

Never let a good crisis go to waste.

      • proudhispanicconservative

Yeah but in this case I think they chose the wrong one.

        • 57thunderbird

          I agree.As a side note,I love Louie Gomert.

          • proudhispanicconservative

I would also like to hear Allen West, but he is probably giving time to the familes to grief in peace.

            • 57thunderbird

I would as well.He is another favorite of mine.He is too much of a gentleman to come out so soon after this tragedy. As you said.He is allowing time for the families to mourn.

  • Nukeman60

Guns don’t kill people. Idiotic liberal policies kill people.

    1) Chicago bans all guns – crime rises dramatically in Chicago.
    2) Liberal states create gun-free zones – more mass murders happen in gun-free zones.
    3) Liberals decide big cars have to go – smaller, lighter cars are generally less safe on the highway and people die.
    4) Liberals create new ‘sensitive’ Rules of Engagement for our military – soldiers die unnecessarily.
    5) Liberals believe a woman has the right to choose – babies die by the millions.

    6)Liberals…ahhh, suck.

    • virginiagentleman1

Ya know sumthin? If ya weren’t so shy in expressing yerself………………………lol

    • NYGino

Nukeman, this action/consequence list could go on and on.

Some of these consequences are intended but, as befitting the ignorance of liberals, most of their ideas have unintended consequences.

      Either way we pay, dearly.

  • keninil

The only worry here is that O’s admin will go around arresting gun owners that are determined to be “on the edge” because of some minor violation (taxes, traffic stop, etc).

    • Nukeman60

We’ll have to get a card game up when we’re all in the camps.

If they take away all the responsible taxpayers, then who will pay for their entitlements? They can’t have it both ways.

  • PFFV

Once again the average American citizen shows how ignorant they truly are, this time in the case of so-called ‘Assault Weapons’. Just because it looks like a machine gun doesn’t make it a fully automatic weapon. Therefore these fools want to ban all Semi-Automatic weapons that look like Assault Rifles/Hand Guns.

I really believe our nation is lost on every level to a brainwashed moron majority that never lived a life of a real human experience outside their cubicles and city slicker life styles. If you were to take away all the technology and modern comforts of these narrow-minded idiots they would have no clue how to survive. Then (and only then) would they see how remarkably stupid their positions on our second amendment right to keep and bear arms really are.

I guarantee you every parent that lost a child in that horrific massacre wished one of the school administrators had a CCW permit and was carrying that day. They could have taken this monster out before getting to those classrooms!

    • Yelda Miedema

What little logic is embedded in your post leave little room for doubt that you are one of those average ignorant Americans to which you allude. No data to support your CCW opinion, because none exists. The amateur CCWer who attempts to intervene is almost always killed.

  • Totalitarian-crazed lefties won’t agree, but normal people can see this is an atttack on the Bill Of Rights (which is one of the few complete sections of the Constitution yet standing).

Like a child reaching into a candle flame, they need to feel the burn from this latest round of calls for removing the Second Amendment’s critical spot in that document.

I know you folks are aware of this, but it doesn’t get said often enough:

The Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States is the most important safeguard of human rights on the planet. If our Second Amendment is debased, or God help us, eliminated, then the world plunges into totalitarianism unchecked.

The reasoning is simple: The US is still the world’s guardian of freedom. The threat of Marines coming to the rescue is what prevents Europe from falling into total fascism once again. We are virtually their army. Countries like Britain and Australia and Canada have excellent military forces, but they know they can’t take on a major threat without us. It really is our job to be the last bastion of freedom.

But every totalitarian takeover in the last 150 years has been preceded by the elimination of the citizens’ right to bear arms. It is precisely that right which prevents our government from imposing draconian measures on us today.

The left may have succeeded in created another, Even Greater American Depression (EGAD) with their policies, and we may have a long march back to prosperity in front of us, but we still hold our government from collapse into absolute state control, thanks to the Second Amendment. Obama knows this, Harry Reid knows this, and so do four million NRA members (and, I would wager, most of the heads of the 47% of the total number of households in the US who happen to have guns).

    • NYGino

Isn’t it amazing how significant 47% has been lately.

      47% households having guns
47% people who pay no taxes
47% the number Romney said would not vote for him

      • It sure is! I was also looking at this bit of statistical misrepresentation, and they don’t seem to agree with the take at TheBlaze.

Two things stood out. 1) The numbers mismatch on households (the Atlantic claims 32%, the Blaze 47%), and 2) The Atlantic’s report on the number of Americans who own guns.

See, if anyone asks me if I own guns, I might just say no. Or maybe “F.O. Buddy.”

My fake statistics show that more Americans feel the same way as I do, than ever before.

        • NYGino

          “Lies, damn lies and statistics”

    • I love it K-Bob!! Well said as usual.

  • By the way folks, this is a good time to link once again to an interesting article.

    “The Constitutional Right
And Social Obligation To Carry A Gun”

    • 57thunderbird

Very good read.Thank you for that link.

  • virginiagentleman1

I honestly believe that the admin, and the congress’s, assualt on our 2nd Amendment rights is already blowing up in their faces.
Handguns and rifles are flying out of stores as the public rushes to arm themselves.
Go to a Wal-Mart and you’ll notice quite a few boxes of ammo in the cart along with the Christmas turkey.
Folks have finally come to realize that government can not protect them or their children.

    • NYGino

Or maybe they feel they might need protection from the government.

    • Terrenceor

You are so right. It took 10 minutes for someone with the government to arrive with guns to stop the shooting. My guess is their were several fireman at the fire station next door who were capable of helping, but were not allowed to have a weapon at work.

If violence is to be stopped early, it is up to citizens being trained and armed.

Those who have a permit to carry are the modern day minutemen.

  • Blame AAA for automobile deaths.
When cars are outlawed, only outlaws will have cars.

  • mark1955

Why not be done with it and just have John Boehner retire his speakership and run the NRA.

  • chatterbox365

I understand that the NRA wanted to wait before making a statement, but I think they should have called out the liberals for politicizing this incident on day one.

Liberals don’t fight fair and I am tired of our side taking the high road. I do feel this is going to backfire if it hasn’t started already.

  • TickedWhiteDude

I have spent the last 4 years screaming about this obama tyrant on fb and elsewhere. Many friends blocked me from their view. Now they are starting to listen and comment a little bit more baecause they realize just how right i was. I told people 4 years ago that eventually HE would come for our weapons, and half those idiots voted for this fool. I am sickend by this man. Im just glad all of my guns aren’t registered.

  • westernhunter

“We must all stand with them and fight for our rights protected by the 2nd amendment.”

  • SANDYHOOK MASSACRE! I don’t own an assalt weapon, I can’t see a good use for them. But I do support the 2nd Amendment. I don’t support teachers bringing firearms into the classrooms. Banning certain weapons is not really a complete answer to the problem. Wackos and criminals will still find a way to get what they need; firearms, knives, fertilizer and diesel, explosives, gasoline, etc. What is needed are prefab safe rooms for the classrooms. Bullet proof and once locked only accessible by the police. One per two(2) class rooms should be enough. Teacher should have a panic button, something like First Alert, that signals the police directly. These changes are feasible and cost effective. Should be Federally funded, may even get some support from the NRA and members. For neigh-sayers: What is the cost of one of our babies?????????
