Obama’s speech is still going on as I publish this, and will probably go on forever, but there’s one part that I found very interesting. He actually tries to reach out to the disenfranchised poor white voter that put Trump into office. He even seems to talk down the concept of “white privilege.”
Watch below:
Pres. Obama: "We need to uphold laws against discrimination…but laws alone won’t be enough. Hearts must change." pic.twitter.com/jt9qkSkucr

Obama says they need to be sympathetic to “the middle aged white guy, who, from the outside, may seem like he’s got advantages, but has seen his world upended by economic, and cultural and technological change.” Interesting huh? I doubt the people that need to hear this message will hear it.
Already liberals are applauding the speech because of the other parts that seem to subtly criticize Trump:
This isn't so much a "farewell speech" (he ain't goin' anywhere) as it is a lecture in how democracy works to one Donald J. Trump.

LOL! Sure buddy.
This entire speech is an elegant, mature, dignified middle finger to Trump's entire platform and agenda. #obamafarewell

Obama threw shade to Trump in a eloquent and intelligent way during his speech. I don't want him to go. #obamafarewelladdress

Like…Obama is literally pleading to the American people to rise above the hate Trump instigates all through this speech. #ObamaFarewell

Ah well.
