Official federal lawsuit filed to remove picture of Jesus from Ohio middle school

Remember the Ohio School that refused to take down a portrait of Jesus after lawsuit threats from the Freedom From Religion Foundation? Well, they’ve stood strong so far and now a federal lawsuit has been filed from the ACLU and the FFRF to have the portrait removed:

CBN NEWS – A portrait of Jesus at a rural Ohio public school is the focus of a federal lawsuit filed on Thursday arguing that it unconstitutionally promotes religion.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio and the Freedom From Religion Foundation say the portrait violates the Constitution.

“The maintenance and display of the portrait has the effect of advancing and endorsing one religion, improperly entangling the State in religious affairs, and violating the personal consciences of plaintiffs,” the lawsuit says.

The two groups say the portrait should be removed from Jackson Middle School, located about 65 miles south of Columbus.

The superintendent said the school board will discuss “an appropriate course of action” at its Feb. 12 meeting.

School officials say the portrait was donated by a student group and has been in the school since about 1947.

May the courts rule in the school’s favor and put an end to this madness.
