Open Thread: Fast forwarding into the future

We are doing something a little different with our open thread today.

I think it’s fair to say that both Marco Rubio and Rand Paul are both running for president in 2016. Both are giving a major response tonight to the State of the Union and both have pushed themselves into the spotlight in the last month or so over various issues and speeches.

So if the election were held today to pick one of these two men to be our nominee, who would you vote for?

NOTE: Please don’t complain about the lack of candidates. The list will grow as more people begin to show signs they are running. And please don’t be idealistic. It was proved last time that people who we think will run don’t necessarily end up running. In fact these two men could very well be the last two men standing at the end of the primary season in 2016.

  • MiketheMarine

I won’t vote for either of those two.

    • BlueGood

O/T Giggle Snort of Tuesday….Which one do u like Goodest?

      • MiketheMarine

Now, I MIGHT vote for you. That there showed more intelligence and humor than our entire congress, combined.

        • bbitter

Congress IS the biggest joke… are you sure?

          • MiketheMarine

A humorless joke. Nearly as funny as an anurism.

        • sDee

The reason the Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines bicker amongst themselves is that they don’t speak the same language. For instance, take the simple phrase “secure the building”.

The Army will post guards around the place.
The Navy will turn out the lights and lock the doors.
The Marines will kill everybody inside and set up a headquarters.
The Air Force will take out a 5 year lease with an option to buy.

      • Rshill7

        Cold milk, silly 🙂

      • LOL I really needed that laugh this morning BlueGoodBrother. Loved no. 17. I’m so politically incorrect. 😉 Thanks!

      • poljunkie

        Those are great!

The braile one is funny, and # 21 is pretty good too.

      • Conservative_Hippie

        Those sound Steven_Wright(ish) 🙂

        • NYGino

          More Steven Wright:
-If at first you don’t succeed, skydiving is not for you.
-If Barbie is so popular why do you have to buy her friends?
-What happens if you get scared half to death twice?
-I’d kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.
-Always borrow money from a pessimist, they don’t expect to get paid back.
-A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.
-Depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.

          • Conservative_Hippie

    • Me either.

    • onetwopunch

Hate to say it, I don’t trust either one of them. Might seem like hyper-critical BS on my part, just tired of being burned. Rubio’s immigration whatever you call it, is pointless. Paul’s stance on defense, the speech he gave this past week, seriously wtf?

      • MiketheMarine

Exactly, I’d vote for Joe the Plumber or King Tut’s mummified who-who’s over both of those clowns.

    • nosilasunny

You took the words out of my mouth. Me either

  • anneinarkansas

Of the two, Rubio. I want a Ben Carson!!!!

  • Conservative_Hippie

I’ll start. If I had to pick between the two I’d go with Rubio simply becuase I think he is the more conservative of the two. I know some will disagree. Plus Rand’s last name is a “thorn in the flesh”.

    I yield the floor…

    • Sober_Thinking

      Lol… 🙂

  • Linky1

You should have added a choice for “none of the above.”

  • StrangernFiction

I have not read a more important article than this:

Absolutely terrific! A call to actually fight back and DO something, rather than simply describe events.

    • BlueGood

Thanx Stranger…copied & pasted to email to all on contact list….

    • Excellent!

    • joyfulgiver

SF – thanks for the link to the article – Terrific is an understatement, this is exactly why we homeschool our son. Socialization is NOT always a good thing! I too am sending it to all on email list.

  • 3d81

I voted for Rubio simply for the fact I watched him once giving a great pro-life speech. I barely know anything about the guy nor Rand Paul. But both are prolife.

If you can get the smallest thing right then the rest follows.

Your never gonna get the perfect politician but We as voters can’t be stubborn over everything.

    • Conservative_Hippie

Agreed. Although I did not know Rand was pro-life.

    • badbadlibs

      3d81, I second your response.
You have it correct, “if you can get the smallest thing right then the rest follows”, I would only quibble with the idea that securing the lives of the unborn is the “biggest thing of all”.

      • 3d81

Indeed. Smallest in size wise ofcourse :p

But your right its the biggest issue. We can’t move ahead whilst killing our own people. 50million people are not with us today. Morally socially financially its all wrong. Affects all aspects of life. 50million tax payers out of the system.

        • badbadlibs

God luv ya, 3d81! I thought I was the only one who ever talked about the 50 million missing tax payers…give or take! I had my first baby in 1973, he is about to turn 40…(wowsers, I’m getting old!)…
He owns his own small business (NO thanks to ovomit’n sons), imagine the tax dollars that would be missing just from him, now times that by…only God knows and there you have the stupid world of liberals.
I’m non violent, but sometimes a body just wants to smack these liberals upside the head to see if anything rattles in there!

      • Conservative_Hippie

        Amen to that!

    • Conservative_Hippie
    • aPLWBinAK

When I read your comment, I wondered if you meant this speech… , which I have in my personal top 5 of most important Conservative speeches that I’ve ever heard.

  • Conniption Fitz

    What? Another Hobbesian choice?

Immigration disaster vs Foreign policy disaster?

How about Newt, Palin, Bachmann or Cruz?

    • savageob1

a big no vote on the newt, if a politician can’t keep their vow to their spouse how can you expect them to keep their oath to the Constitution?

      • Conniption Fitz

A repentant sinner is better than the unrepentant closet liberal choice we had last time. In MA, Romney governed left of Ted Kennedy, promoted abortion, gay marriage, etc. and he lied 8 times during the FL debate alone – was an unsuccessful liberal governor, liberal and liar…and much of his money from Bain and the salvage of the SLC olympics cost the US taxpayer billions.

        • savageob1

how did his infidelities(2 anyways) come out? hint: it wasn’t him. was he being repentant from shame, or because it came out? i hold no animosity toward the man, but i also don’t have enough faith to want him holding office again because there is that question of sincerity.

A quote attributed to John Adams “Because power corrupts, society’s demands for moral authority and character increase as the importance of the position increases.” I say that’s a wise policy, wouldn’t you?

  • Conniption Fitz

Both Rubio and Rand Paul are pro-life.

    (response to 3d81)

  • LadyMacKeltar

If there is no other choice, then Senator Rubio. I’ll vote for him like I voted for Gov. Romney, knowing I’m compromising my believes once again, and praying it is God’s will I do so.

    • Conservative_Hippie

      Rubio’s no Romney.

      • LadyMacKeltar

True. But he’s still a politician playing the Republican party’s game. I wish he was more for the people and our interests like West and Palin.

    • badbadlibs

Seems like conservatives are always stuck between a rock and a hard place. But, God understands when we base our vote on the best man standing, even if neither fits the mold of God’s man. One of the candidates should at least be pro-American these days. !

  • badbadlibs

I will vote for either one, same as last time….ANYONE but who the demoncrats nominate.
That is IF we get another election at all.

  • d00mie

way too early to even speculate. TBH, I don’t see a fighter in either one at the moment. I hate saying it, but Trey Gowdy is the man I like most for President, but I don’t know if his passion come from ideals or ambition.

    • Sober_Thinking

      Excellent response.

Trey strikes me as a really good man.

    • MiketheMarine

I like Gowdy too. I’d vote for him 3 times.

      • badbadlibs

“3 times”? But, that would make you a democrat. 😉

        • MiketheMarine

Since we can’t beat them with our techniques, we need to adapt to theirs. LOL

          • badbadlibs

            I’m all for it! 🙂

      • …in each county you can drive to in one day.

  • las1

Oh man! You are certainly very cruel there Scoop.

Death by hanging or guillotine. Pick one.

  • What really pisses me off, is the fact that if these two men were our choices, then some of you wouldn’t vote. How stupid and ignorant can you be, I honestly feel you pulled this same BS in the last election, but yet piss and moan about how bad it is today. Grow up, my Lord, it is better than anyone…ANYONE those Socialists will choose for their nominee.

    • MiketheMarine

Are you really starting this bovine excrement already? The primary process is for this very thing. Neither of those two are true conservatives. They are both RINO’s plus we have no IDEA who is going to throw their hat in the ring. It really bugs me when people like you start the “Holier than thou,” crap before we know who’s running.

      • 3d81

Mate its a simple hypothetical poll. Take it for what it is. Obviously we have no idea who will be running at this stage. We have these two names in the poll simply for the fact they will be speaking alot today.

    • bjohnson55

Listen up you 65% of register Republican voters who did not get off your asses and vote this last elections; Alexander here is absolutely correct. Obama did not win this last election (he had 7 million fewer voters this round) you lazy, apathetic, dip sheit Republican voters gave the Whitehouse to him. Stuff your excuses, Romney would have been so much better than this Marxist who is bound and determined to destroy this country.

      • Amjean

        along with massive voter fraud….

      • JRD1

Sorry I have first hand financial experience with Etch-a-sketch. He is just as corrupt as Obama. He’s not a community organizer like Obama is. Quit believing gopE propaganda.

I proudly did not vote for Etch-a-sketch. And I am not voting for anyone who will further advance the Bush mafia crony capitalist agenda. I believe in the free market.

You want to remain an enabler to the Bush crime family, knock yourself out. That’s your right. But I don’t feel guilty in the least. Do you feel guilty for being an enabler?

Furthermore, I wouldn’t vote for either senator as they both have NO executive experience and NO experience as a reformer. I would vote for a mayor who has executive experience first.

Talk is cheap. And, I am over someone’s drama queen performances.

        • bjohnson55

How much are the Obama’s paying you to play this game? Are you one of the 3,500 minimum wage flunkies they hired to insert yourselves into conservative conversations to try and disrupt constructive conservative conversations and debate? Get lost you tool, your divisive tactics will not work on this Conservative.

  • bjohnson55

Anybody who can look Hilary in the eye and tell her he would have fired her has my vote. Past that he is a bit of a Paleocon but can be brought around. I am not all that thrilled with Rubio over this immigration / amnesty issue. Before anything is done about the illegals in the country (other than throwing their butts out) border security has to be addressed with the border closed. Then we discuss a system to allow the illegals the opportunity to leave and work their way back legally. The cost for immigrants to come to this country has to be addressed. I have seen reports that it cost $15,000 plus to get a green card. That is ridiculous and is a major incentive for these people to cross illegally. The process has to change to decrease the cost BUT we have to control who is allowed to come across those borders. Just because someone WANTS to live in this country does not mean they are automatically ENTITLED to live in this country.

  • Sober_Thinking

As of right now, neither. But I would vote for Allen West, Ted Cruz, Bill Whittle or Mark Levin in a heart beat.

I’d be fine with Sarah Palin, Mia Love and a few others too… especially for V.P.

    • mike3e4r7

Would love to see Bill Whittle or Mark Levin. Unfortunately, I don’t think Mark Levin would be electable. I think Bill Whittle could be, but I don’t think either of them would ever run. I may be wrong about Mark Levin being unelectable, and would love it if he proved me wrong.

  • Rshill7

    • that surprises me. I wouldn’t have begged you for a Paul fan especially after his foreign policy speech.

      • Rshill7

I think 911Infidel went way over the top with that thread the other day. I said I liked Rand Paul a time or two in it. Didn’t like that thread one bit though, and stayed out of it for the most part. I’ve never heard Rand Paul say anything I disagree with.

It’s the Republican establishment that bothers me.

        • poljunkie

“It’s the Republican establishment that bothers me.”

          Me too.

        • mike3e4r7

It’s what he hasn’t said that has me worried. I liked Rand Paul when he first came onto the national stage and have not written him off yet, but in my opinion he has not conclusively shown that he is very different from his father on foreign policy.

He gives very general assurances that he is in favor of strong national defense then focuses on how we need to prioritize, cut foreign aid, etc. The two are not mutually exclusive so that in itself doesn’t make him a Paulbot. But until he gives convincing
and specific commentary on whether he believes Islam, Russia, China, Iran and North Korea are threats to our national security and gives details on how he would deal with such threats, I will be suspicious.

          • Rshill7

Who has given details on how they would deal with such threats?

            • mike3e4r7

Not Rand. I would like to know what assets we would still have under a President Paul. Would we still have the ability to project power to deal with China, Russia, etc. Does he agree that America should be able to handle two wars at the same time, which was our policy until Obama came along. What are his thoughts on nucluer disarmament. Is he in favor of developing new weapons systems to keep ahead of our enemies?

              • Rshill7

Who has given details on how they would deal with such threats?

You could mention who has, or who has not. One list would contain nobody, the other list would contain everybody.

                Your point might be moot.

            • Yes. It was really dumb to see the Dems trying to hammer Mitt over not releasing specific “cuts”, while obviously not releasing anything specific themselves.

Being that specific is how candidates implode. It has to be about principles and competence, and the ability to sell those two.

        • But Rubio isn’t Republican Establishment. He’s as Tea Party as they come. Just because he’s caught the attention of the Boehner’s of the world doesn’t mean he’s establishment now.

          • OneThinDime

If Marco Rubio is a Tea Party as they come, then I must agree with the Democrats that the Tea Party is over. I don’t believe he represents the Tea Party, have not seen the Tea Party ever make a statement that people in our country illegally should receive amnesty and citizenship. That is inconsistent with our Constitution and laws. If they have, would appreciate those links.

          • Rshill7

I still like him too. I’m going to be watching as that establishment starts climbing all over him like a bunch of Michelangelos with sculpting tools.

If he starts singing, “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother”…Oh boy.

It remains to be seen who will influence who.

          • pdxlady

Rubio has been groomed by the Bushes, particularly Jeb Bush, meaning also Karl Rove.

I don’t like that he is giving his response in Spanish. Sorry, but that is a large part of the problem with our country, in my opinion.

This is AMERICA. Everyone who originally immigrated here through Ellis Island assimilated into American culture, including learning English, as that is/was the language spoken here.

Now we have a big mess, it is not America any longer, as we have several different nations living within our borders. And we don’t even know who they are because we have open borders; unlike any other country in the world.

I don’t agree with Michael Savage on everything, but I agree with his political philosophy of BORDERS. LANGUAGE. CULTURE. That could solve a lot of problems that have come from Political Correctness.

          • I’m holding out hope you are correct. But so far, I see nothing directly Tea Party about Rubio. He’s playing it cannily. I WANT to see the connection. I hope there is one, because he has the tools to go all the way. But I get a bad feeling about it.

I will jump for joy and send him a sizeable check if he starts sounding like a Restoration-minded guy.

            • white531

The reason you see nothing directly Tea party about Rubio, is because there isn’t any. He is only Tea Party, if it advances his political agenda. He is riding the wave of the popularity among Conservatives who happen to speak Spanish. I’m a Conservative, and I speak fairly fluent Spanish. Doesn’t mean I believe a word he says.

I think he’s a fake. He’s being orchestrated. He is simply the Conservative equivalent of the Chicago Street Organizer we are living with.

The Republican Party is desperate right now. Because the Democrats have wiped the street with them in the last two elections. They are going to approve some sort of Amnesty, and they are going to push as many Latino Candidates as they can, in future elections. To this country’s demise, it is simply not about Freedom or Principles anymore. It’s about winning elections and power and control.

What you and I think doesn’t mean a rat’s ass anymore.

          • white531

He is what they seek. He is the pathway to Latino votes. He may not be Republican Establishment at this moment, but he is their new boy-child. They will run him in 2016. You can bet on it.

  • I like Rubio, but he doesn’t strike me as a guy who would go into a room filled with liberals and kick some butt until they saw things his way. Rand Paul has shown time and again he isn’t afraid of taking the war to Obama, and THAT is what we need right now. His last efforts against Hillary Clinton and his attempt to stop military aid from going to Egypt shows that this guy has a backbone and isn’t afraid of showing it. We are going to need A LOT of that if we’re going to take on the liberals, the mainstream media, and far-left Hollywood in 2016.

  • rsfan1

I find it too difficult to choose now based on the little we know of both Paul and Rubio’s views.

    • mike3e4r7

      Very good point!

  • Amberson

  • O/T this is a few days old but worth a read. If this stuff happens, we won’t be thinking about elections much by 2016

    • Rshill7

At a minimum, we need another 2010…on steroids.

How surreal is all of that DHS stuff? Lots and lots of people refuse to believe those kinds of things can happen, simply because it has never happened here. They can’t even imagine it. Never thought I’d have to try either. We’ve been blessed. Not so sure God wants to bless this mess anymore. I trust he will though, for the sake of his people. If we disappear and meet him in the air, that’ll be fine too.

I think what you linked to absolutely could happen. I also think we have some major corrupt players in place, and so, if it ever were to happen, the fruit is ripe for the pickins. Hopefully, a lot of this planning is the left being overly paranoid about the right and vice versa.

When the drummer clicks his sticks together and the band starts playing though, Mama Cass is gonna open up her piehole, and the big cities are going to look like something out of a sci-fi movie.

      • You’ve got a way with words myBear and said it better than I ever could.
I never in my life would have believed such things could happen from our governments, and I hate the thought of tin foil, but this stuff absolutely makes sense to folks who have been paying attention.
I still wonder what God is planning with this nation- all I can do is pray and watch, then follow Him. I hope too though that this is paranoia, but somehow I don’t think it is.

Lovely subject to think about now that I’m off to fill a few kids’ skulls with the Founding Fathers. sigh. see you later mybear. ((()))s

      • Maybe we’ll get lucky and she’ll choke on a tuna sammich again.

        But boy, could she sing.

    • oregonproud

ABiC- have you done any checking on this link. While scary at first blush, it so smacks of something from Infowars. Wish I had some more info to research.

      • I’ll try oregonproud. CanadaFreePress is a good site though, and have posted stories on the insiders before. But I’ll check and if I find anything, I’ll let you know.

  • Kordane

    I’d vote for John Galt.

    • Rshill7

What if his opponent were Peter Pan?

      • Peter Pan for president? A boy who never grows up?
We have him already don’t we, by the name of Barry Soetoro! (or however you spell his stupid fake name)

        • Rshill7

He’s every bit as real as John Galt.

  • DavidRobertson

Can we add Ben Carson to the list?

  • 911Infidel

    None of the above

  • m0r0

    Dr. Benjamin Carson.

  • colliemum

I pressed the button for Rand Paul – it’s the only way I get to vote for an US President, teeheehee – but with great reluctance.
Still, Rubio is the obvious choice of the GOPe – so thus out of the running, as far as I’m concerned.

    • sDee

Want an absentee ballot? It is simple to arrange. “Undocumented citizen”? No probelmo.

      • colliemum

Can I vote in all 57 states? Just to exercise my rights, see …

        • Sure! Foreigners get a special pass to vote as much as they want.

Heck, while we’re at it, I think we’ll just skip the whole citizenship thing altogether, and nominate Nigel Farage for President.

  • Joe

    Please add Ted Cruz

These two have shown their true colors already

    No Vote for me

  • poljunkie

This is funny! Maybe ironic! Obama’s good at something- A gun salesman!

65,376,373 guns have been Bought Since Obama Took Office in 2009.

By comparison, the number of gun purchases in Obama’s first term is 91.1% higher than President George W. Bush’s first-term total of 34,214,066 background checks.

  • Conniption Fitz
    • are you on twitter Conniption Fitz?

      • I see you and a few folks mentioning the tweeter thingy a lot. Is there a particular hashtag y’all are using? I think a #TRScoop or #RightScoop tag would be good to have, to identify Scoop’s Troops.

        • @ABiCduckie for me 😀 I’m still learning the hashtag thing K-Bob, the only ones I use are #Benghazi and #militarymonday 😉

          • Let’s add a short one for Scoop followers. Pick one of these or make up a better one:

The shorter, the better, but too short and it’s ambiguous. If all of the TheRightScoop folks use that tag, then we can search for it.

(So in my case, when I log into the tweeter for my quarterly, fifteen minute visit, I can find alla you’se folks! What can I say, I’m not an early adopter anymore.)

            • Or how about just gimme your tweet name and I’ll look you up and send you a message?

              • Heh. I’ll have to log on to look it up. I think it’s @K_Bob. But I don’t remember. (CRS creeping higher)

          • DebbyX

I need a short class on Tweeting 101. Sure, it’s simple, but I don’t get it. My avatar is that stupid egg! HELP!!

            • I’m still reasonably new on it too Debby. If you’re interested, I’ll help you. First off, you can either go to my twitter page ^^ and follow me, or I’ll look you up.
The home page set up isn’t too hard. I got through it. Only problem I have is we have a letter limit and you know how I love to talk lol!

              • DebbyX

I find the constraints intimidating. You really need to be pithy. Something I haven’t mastered.

How many letters is that 🙂

                • LOL. I haven’t mastered it either 😉 I did look for you though- do you have any Idea how many Debby’s with egg avatars there are lol?!

                • DebbyX

Jeesh I loath that egg! I actually think when I signed up, I didn’t even register under Debby ’cause basically, I had no idea what I was doing 😉

                • lol. Yeah- it’s not eggsactly an original avatar lol.

OK here’s a quick lesson- hopefully I can teach you through it.
When you’re on, go to the tab up in the right corner at the top- the little gear wheel. Click on that and go to settings.
Once you’re on your settings look on the left side of the page and go to Profile. Click on that and it will give you an option to change your photo. Click on choose an existing photo. If you want to use the same one you have here on Scoop, you should have that one in your computer files? Or choose one in your photo file and upload it.

You can also put a different, or the same photo on your header, which appears on your profile page. Do that the same way.

When you’ve got the photos you want, go to the left column again and click on design, which will bring up different things for your background. Pick whatever one you want.

Once you’re done there, go to the left, and if you want e mail notifications when someone mentions you in a tweet, retweets or favorites a tweet, you can set it up to get notifications or switch them off. I get a lot on mondays- because I have a lot of Military folks I send out tweets to for #MilitaryMondays, but most the rest of the time, I don’t get a whole lot so I leave mine on to get notifications.

So that’s about it Miss Debby. I would love to see you on there too 🙂 If you do find your way around it, look for me 🙂 Hope this helps!!

PS- if you want to change your twitter name, you can do that too- go back to settings, go to the left and click on account (at the top) and you can put in a different username 🙂

Wow, thanks for trying to teach tweeting to a bird brain like me. I really appreciate the helpful hints and will try them all out. Do you think it’s a good idea to use your real name, like I do here? Like you said, there must be a thousand Debbys on there. Maybe I’ll find my alter ego.

                  That’ll be scary 😉

                • lol. Alter ego. I think DebbyX would work, even though there’s a few of those. But once you write a couple of things about yourself, you’ll set yourself apart from the others. You’re more than welcome sister. I’d love to see you over there too, and there are a few scoopers who are there.
🙂 And you’re not a bird brain! It took me a while to navigate it too. You’ll get the hang of it!

  • O/T:
Oh this woman. Sheila Jackson Lee, you never fail to amaze me, only YOU can make you “constituents” look bad, without even trying to look good! Gee, fangirl much? (if you are indeed a woman) PACK YOUR BAGS LADY, YOU ARE NOT A TEXAN! You’ll fit better in Kenya where your “crush” Obie used to lived.

Nothing else to say but, you are “deplorable….DEPLORABLE……DEPLORABLE!!!!” (if anybody knows where that quote comes from let me know. I loved it when Michael Berry uses her own words against her lol)

  • Neither, i’d vote Santorum who has recently said about another run that it was “definitely not a no” and that he was talking with some people about it.

    • I think his shot at the Presidency is over. I hope he runs for congress, or Governor somewhere, or joins Jim DeMint over at Heritage, or heads up a PAC or something.

He’s proven constitutionally unable to avoid getting bogged down in the social issues. He refuses to learn how Reagan managed to stay strong on those issues without getting bogged down in them by the media.

Another run by him or Bachmann would just be too painful to watch.

Besides, I’d really rather see him back in the Senate again, if possible.

      • The only reason he’s bogged down in them is because he knows how to answer them excellently, (when he has the chance to answer instead of being called the GOOGLE definition of Santorum) lol.

But there are three years before the primaries start up, and Patriot Voices is growing, in numbers and in impact. So i say don’t count him out, remember, a few days before Iowa his poll numbers were in the 2% zone and he was a laughing stock.

He ended up winning the same number of states that Ronald Reagan won in the 76 primary.

Don’t count him out my friend 😛

        • Well, if I woke up in November of 2016 to discover he had won the Presidential election, I would be thrilled.

I just don’t see any way he can do it. We now have better public speakers in Rubio (who I’m not at all confident of), West, Rand Paul, Tim Scott, Ted Cruz, and others. I would be thrilled to see Santorum on a committee to get one of them elected.

Nice article from Daily Caller on Dr. Carson.

TheDC: You mentioned during your speech that there are some intelligent people leading this country. Do you consider President Obama among those?

BC: I think he’s very intelligent, absolutely.

TheDC: Are there any politicians who are currently in office who speak eloquently to the ideals that you have?

I certainly like Marco Rubio. I think he’s a very, very rational individual.

  • Joengima

I’d pick Rand Paul over Marco Rubio. But if neither was a choice, I would have selected it.

I picked Rand Paul because he doesn’t seem to be co-opted yet by the establishment. He is very much somewhat independent for being in DC for this long.

I used to like Rubio, but he seems to have been tainted by the establishment. To me it seems he’s becoming the Establishment’s token Hispanic. Also I’ve noticed lately from his various interviews, he rushes when he speaks. He talks as if he is down to the last 5 seconds to the buzzard and that to me is a red flag especially in an era where 1 wrong thing said could be the noose around your neck.

Out of 44 presidents, only three—Warren Harding, John F. Kennedy, and Barack Obama—won their presidential races as incumbent senators.

So Presidents don’t really come out of the Senate.

Both of these Senators, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio are only first term Senators with no governing experience or ability.

We need Governors running for President; someone with actual experience running something.

    • Allen West for Florida Governor, 2014!

      • pdxlady

        That would be awesome!

  • chatterbox365

LOL! My guys aren’t on this list but I voted for Rand Paul because it appears he has not been corrupted by the Cantor crowd and he’s giving the Tea Party response. Rubio is walking too close to the RINO line so his speech is particularly important.

I’m not going to waste my time watching Obama BS to the American people. I’ll be doing something more constructive like shopping on eBay. LOL!

  • Neither guy is talking Restoration, yet. Rand at least talks Constitution more than Marco.

So if you held some bacon in front of me as enticement, I’ve gotta go with Rand.

If Marco would just accept the task that must be achieved—the task of championing Constitutionally informed liberty, and Restoration of a Constitutionally-limited government—then I would send him a thousand dollars (yeah, I’d have to sell some furniture, but I would do it).

If Rand spoke more of Restoration, and was not nuts when it comes to Israel, then I’d send him a thousand dollars.

So far, though, the only two people I see talking like Reagan, and caring about the Constitution as either current or former officeholders are Palin and West. West is the stronger speaker. So it’s easy:

    Vote West.

  • DebbyX

I had to think a minute on that one. Voted for Rand. I am already tired of seeing Rubio and it’s soooo early to feel that way.

But I can be fickle 🙂

  • texasgirl46

ATM I’m going with Rand Paul. So far, I like what he says.. Wait and see situation…

  • white531

This is a trick question, right? It’s a little bit like asking, which would you prefer, an ice pick in your foot, or your hand stuck in burning hot coals? Neither, is going to be your answer.

I don’t like these kinds of questions. Because they serve no purpose. Of the myriad of possible Conservative Candidates for 2016, these two would be the last picks most of us would make. So, I can’t help asking, what’s the point? Scoop, why would you want to do this?

  • No to Rubio,

I listen to Marco R. when he was on Rush and everything he said sounded good, up until he said (paraphrasing) “nothing in the bill would stop future illegal aliens from trying to get into the US”. I played it back several times to be sure what I heard him say was correct and it was. With that kind of mentality he lost my vote.

  • Alright- I’m way down near the bottom, so I don’t know who will see this- but hopefully those who need to will.
I’ve been noticing for the past few months now again a lot of activity through e mail alerts every time a comment is flagged. While I appreciate folks being diligent because the moderators can’t be everywhere at once when someone makes a truly offensive comment, a lot of the complaints seem to be out of disagreeing with what someone says.
I understand a lot of what is annoying about many of the comments, but seriously, we can’t go banning people or kicking them out just because we disagree with their opinions.

I ask that new folks would kindly check out the comment policy before posting,
