Score one for religious freedom:
CBN NEWS – The city of Portland, Ore., has been ordered to pay $19,000 to a city employee over religious harassment.
Kellymarie Griffin said her co-worker at the Mount Tabor Maintenance Yard complained when she said “God bless you” after a sneeze.
Griffin said the co-worker also said “I’m tired of your Christian attitude” and mocked her for praying to a God who was a figment of her imagination.
After four years of harassment, including facing several civil stalking orders from the co-worker against her, Griffin filed suit.
A federal jury ruled in her favor, saying her workplace was hostile to her religion. It awarded her just over $5,000 in economic damages and $14,000 in noneconomic damages.
