Paul Ryan abruptly ends interview after reporter gets snarky

Paul Ryan did an interview in Michigan yesterday but it ended abruptly as the reporter got snarky at the end. The reporter asked if the US has a gun problem, and Ryan answered by saying no. When pressed, he talked about the solution to inner city violence is to encourage opportunity, discipline, and good character via the civil society.

The reporter then responded “and you can do all that by cutting taxes, with a big tax cut?” Ryan said “those are your words, not mine” and then ended the interview.

As he was pulling off his mic, Ryan told the reporter “That was kind of strange…you’re trying to stuff words in people’s mouths.”

  • Glad to see that Ryan has the backbone not to take any junk from biased “reporters,” who really are just operatives for the Democratic Party. Good for him.

    • marketcomp

I think this is a preview to the debate. Paul Ryan understands that not only will he be against Joe Biden he will be also be going against the panel and the media. Who are really the same.

      • sDee

interesting – maybe Ryan’s assistant should have let Ryan go on to decimate the guy – as target practice.

Or maybe the reporter has the debate questions already was simply drawing out Ryan’s response to help out ole Joe?

        • RosiesSeeingRed

That’s what I think sDee. Someone off camera ended the interview abruptly, not Paul Ryan, and I think Paul Ryan would have loved to take that snarky guy to task, but he was held back. That interview would have gone on, as evidenced by Paul Ryan continuing to talk to the reporter after the so-called “abrupt ending.” The left is “running” with this story of Paul Ryan abruptly ending an interview and “walking off” — like he can’t handle a tough question or something. He did nothing of the sort.

          • Conservative_Hippie

” The left is “running” with this story of Paul Ryan abruptly ending an interview and “walking off” — like he can’t handle a tough question or something.”

You hit the nail on the head Rosies!

            • JohnBarry2012

To the discredit of the reporter Terry Camp and serve notice to ABCNews, who put out a junior doing an unprofessional juvenile hectoring of a senior congressman. Won’t be surprise if ABCNews apologize to Paul Ryan.

          • steprock

Yeah, I noticed it was not Ryan who ended the interview. Though I find it odd that he didn’t say “no, let me answer this” or something.

        • marketcomp

Very possible, sDee. Almost every time a reporter interviews either Mitt Romney or Paul Ryan, whether George Stephanopoulos or David Gregory, they always ask either Romney/Ryan the specifics of their plan, whether its taxing structure or healthcare. In the debate Barack Obama make some stupid remark that Romney never gives specifics about his plans when Ryan has said time and time again that they will make decisions about the deductions and tax rate in conjunction with Congress who are elected by the people. Which is something that Barack Obama never did when it came the health care law and Mitt Romney pointed that out in the debate. Moreover, these reporters know that Barack Obama never gave specifics about anything in particular health care and if he had told people about his health care plan and that it included an individual mandate, and that he was going to ram it through Congress without Republicans and against the will of the people then he would have never been elected. Romney/Ryan should never trust these wing-men for Obama.

        • No, as the network can edit the hell out of Ryan’s comments and make him look foolish – they can’t edit that. Ryan did the right thing thing, and I don’t think the other side looks forward to debating him- maybe the smartest and well spoken guy in DC. Finally, as an NRA member and person licensed to carry a concealed weapon, no gun killed a person- it took an evil or demented person using the gun. If someone in Aurora last summer had a gun in that theatre, maybe that whacko would have been stopped before he committed as much carnage as he did. Go Ryan!

      • Don

Great point, marketcomp. Evidently Obama being soundly trounced by Romney was because of Jim Leher being objective and seeking the truth. Ryan can expect a pack of mad dog leftists foaming at the mouth when he goes against Biden. The truth will be the last thing that will allow to be presented. When all is said and done though, Ryan against a pack of fanatical leftwing bigots and and a clown like Biden is pretty close to an even match as you can get. If the truth wins, Romney/Ryan wins.

      • smmy33

This is great… glad he stood up for himself… I don’t why politcans on the right think voters like to see them get dissed by reporters…. Voters don’t.

    • PFFV

Ryan 1 – Liberal Hack Reporter 0. This is the problem with our media in this country, they are a bunch of biased idiots right along with most of HollyWood and every TV program.

  • I grew up in this town, and am definitely not shocked by the question that was asked. Par for the course in Flint, MI

  • aPLWBinAK

An inspired pick for VP. He’s too smart for the average Commie MSM reporter, they ask him asinine questions at their own risk. They are trying to drive the narrative….but it doesn’t work all that well with someone who just looks at them and says “your words, not mine”. I am looking forward to watching him demolish Joe BiteMe on Thursday

  • Paul Ryan is one of the few intelligent people in politics. When it comes to mainstream media, it’s a jungle out there.

    • Your right it’s a jungle, i’m glad Mr Ryan had Tarzan with him to fight off this alligator.

    • He looks young, but he’s been around the block. And when you’re in Washington as long as he’s been – and you’re as smart as he is – you’re not intimidated very easily. He’s got what it takes to take them on.

    • CalCoolidge

There may not be many intelligent people in politics, but ALL of them are conservative!

  • The best part was at the end when the reporter was saying, “Ryan wouldn’t talk specifics.” What a schmuck. Can you see these guys saying the same thing about Obama?

    • Conservative_Hippie

      Yep, the MSM is “schmuck”land!

    • steprock

Yes. Yes I can imagine that.

“We asked the president what kind of tree he would most like to be. Even though he told us ‘an apple tree’ he didn’t go into what variety. Back to you.”

  • iaintlyin

Go Ryan, your people handled it right but hopefully a well placed commercial on that channel countered what they were trying to do. No wonder Detroit is the fore runner of what this country will look like if we let the left control the White House for another four years. Their left leaning gov’t has driven that city to a grave yard setting. 40 years and running. Who’s the problem there, Bush? Go Romney/Ryan

  • RosiesSeeingRed

Wow, on Twitchy, they’ve completely DEBUNKED this headline. I’m sorry to see this lie spread here.

    • Conservative_Hippie

Good point Rosies, I don’t see anywhere in that interview where Ryan ended the interview, let alone “abruptly” ending it. In fact Ryan actually looked surprise the interview was ended. I think the reporter’s surrogates ended the interview, because they realized the reporter was out of his league!

  • marcellucci

It would have been funnier if Ryan was packin’…..
Reporter “…And you really think cutting taxes will reduce gun violence”
Ryan “I don’t know…(shows him his piece)….ask me another snarky question.”
Reporter “Uh…err…ummm…that’ll be all for now……thank you, Mr. Rysn, sir”

  • Sober_Thinking

Stupid shills. Even on the local level… idiots. It’s not that they can’t “get it” (well, maybe they can’t) but they don’t WANT to get it. Attack anything that doesn’t fit their agenda…

Paul Ryan sat there and would have kept going… he doesn’t back down. He was even courteous as the jack wagon continued to question him.

I’m proud of Ryan… he’s a smart, good man and will make a fine VP (or President).

    • Conservative_Hippie

  • The question from the reporter was being a SMART A$$…Ryan was wise to end the interview and move on. The reporter was doing the usual…YOU NEED MORE GOVT through the back door….you want to cut taxes!! Ryan is right to end the problem in the INNER CITY..teach them to STOP RELYING ON THE GOV’T and encourage opportunity!! EXACTLY!!! Discipline is sorely lacking…that is the problem with the Inner City….Gov’t dominated policy that is destroying any incentive. The reporter indeed was INDEED PUTTING WORDS IN RYAN’s MOUTH!!

    Good Job Paul!

  • Army_Pilot1967

Good for Paul Ryan. The “news reporter” is a first class jerk and didn’t deserve a second more of Ryan’s time!!!

  • Way to handle the reporter Paul! They get away with FAR TOO MUCH!

  • 1vote

Refreshing to see politician with a brain and a spine. If Romney wins, can you imagine the team that he will assemble, if Ryan is an indicator. Imagine the difference of this new team vs the idiot commie thugs that are ruling this country nowadays.

    • Yes well, something has to be done about Boehner and Cantor. I’d like to see a Romney petition that says if we put him in the White House that Boehner has to go as part of the deal.

      • gunclinger

        Replace Boehner with West!

And Bolton for Sec. of State!

      • proudhispanicconservative

We will not be able to get anything done, if we dont remove “boner” and Cantor ……….give me a break, both are the epitome of RINO.

        • They should be charged with dereliction of duty. I have to wonder if NOBama has something on them or something, they are SOOOO damn passive and disengaged in the political process. It’s like they are snoozing through the storm while the rest of us wonder if they will EVER wake the heck UP already and fight the good fight!

  • joyfulgiver

    reporter=another useful idiot

  • If that’s a Ryan Gaffe I want to see more, as in at least 4 years worth.

  • E. Lee Zimmerman

This has been so horribly misreported by other outlets, claiming that Ryan “threw down the microphone” and “stormed out.” I’d seriously expected better from Scoop, but methinks the headline says it all; this was an IDIOT REPORTER who didn’t deserve Ryan’s time.

    • Scoop didn’t mention that Mr Ryan threw down his mic or that he stormed out.
your point on the other news outlets is right on.
The head line varies on other sites, I think scoop went with the headline and picture for the sake of farmiliarity.
      The video saids it all.

      • E. Lee Zimmerman

Yeah, you really need to work on your comprehension skills. I never said those things you say I said. I said that I was disappointed in Scoop’s headline as, for the most part, it mirrors much of what the lamebrain press has been saying about this “interview.” I expect BETTER from outlets that support our side of the aisle.

        • Thanks for clearing that up my friend, sometimes i’m a little slow, so sorry I misunderstood your meaning.
Your right we should expect better and we do.

  • BeyondPolls

Ryan didn’t want to get up; his staffer told him that the time was up. The reporter was clearly asking leading questions and trying to trap Ryan in the incessant tax break narrative.

  • SaraPFan

How does the reporter get “tax cuts” out of “gun laws”. The two are so diametrically polar. Too bad for the small time reporter. Trying to make a name for himself.

    • MSM had been recorded conspiring to put Romney (and other RNC candidates too, I am sure) DOWN regardless of his answer.
      MSM = DNC hacks.
iilii <————— my middle finger salute to our left.

  • badbadlibs

Can someone please treat bo the same way? “Mr. president, (yuck), do you think you can help the middle class by robbing from other people? Isn’t stealing against your “so called” religion?

  • Dear Vice Prez. RYAN – plain leftist arrogance everywhere!!!
Do NOT answer their questions – just speak your agenda, let the people know what YOU think.
In the upcoming debate, do not let the “mediator” to ask you Catch 22 questions; refuse!
—> “leave stupid questions for Biden, ask me something with at least a trace of logic” 😉
Cut off all the a-holes, like you did. Great move!! 🙂

  • Conservative_Hippie

My friends I have good news for you, the left are underestimating Paul Ryan. They are trying to spin Ryan as being inexperinced and out of his league when it comes to debating Biden. They are in for a rude awakening! Thursday’s debate will be epic!

    • Biden will be chewed out, spit out, salted, and thrown to the dogs, roaches, skunks and other leftist vermin.
His idiocy will go up in the sky and create a sun eclipse.

    • gunclinger

      More EPIC than last week?

I was laughing so hard last week, not sure if that can be topped, but I’m all for more entertainment!

I love the fact that Americans can see these candidates without the MSM filter.

      • Conservative_Hippie

        “More EPIC than last week?”

As far as VP debates go, yes.

    • NJK

They are fools if they think this. Ryan is smart, Biden isn’t.

    • A_Truism

Like, don’t they know what Paul Ryan does for a living? Seriously…

  • Mr_A56

I don’t understand why this is news. Time was up, interview over, Ryan suggested the reporter shouldn’t try to put words in his mouth – which reports often try to do. Where is the controversy?

    • A_Truism

      On the left side *teehehe*

  • JeffWRidge

Talk about a non sequitur, Ryan did not link tax cuts with ending crime. He gave a reasonable and intelligent answer. Enforcing the existing laws, giving people opportunities, allow them to raise out of poverty and teaching them discipline and proper character traits will do more to drop the crime rates. Guns are not the problem, people are.

  • NHConservative0221

Terry Camp deserves to live in the inner city of that Detroit…. it’s an absolute sh!thole due to the liberal pieces of trash that he’s in the bag for!

  • A punch in this fool’s face would’ve doubled my already great respect for Ryan.

    • Much as you and I might think that jerk of a “reporter” deserved it, it’s just as well Ryan kept his cool. Had he punched him, we’d be seeing it in ads from here until election day with the tagline “Can we trust such a hothead to be our V.P.?” etc…

      • proudhispanicconservative

Spot on!!!!!! I am amazed as how Ryan is able to keep his cool, I promise i would not have been so nice.

  • sjmom

Looks like the GOP is beginning to show some chutzpah in these interviews. Paul Ryan answered the question and the reporter wanted to make hay of it but Ryan is the one who ate his oats and the reporter is left with the hay.

    • PhillyCon

      Yes, FINALLY!

  • The person working with the Ryan campaign who we heard in the back ground say the interview is over, was obviously not the loser Ed Rawlins who is a back stabbing (RINO) ie Perot / Bachmann campaigns.
The person we heard knew this big government leftist reporter was trying to change the subject in order to prop up the liberal agenda of Obama and the democrat party. So this was a great move by the Ryan campaign people to end the interview.
Maybe the leftest media & RINOS will now play by the rules, but i doubt it, they never do.

    Tea Party Patriot

    • NJK

I think if they don’t play by the rules, you stop doing interviews with them.

      • I wish you were right about not doing the interviews with the left. But who can say for sure maybe someone watching and listening may be turned in the right direction by what they see and hear done by the leftist media talking heads.
We see many voters switching parties as we speak. though it’s to late form many to vote since some states have a 30 rule to register and vote. but maybe we have a few who will not vote for obama or any other democrat.
I’m sure it’s only a dream, but possible.
        we can alway’s walk out.

  • Good handler.

  • Conservative_Hippie

RS, I tend to agree with RosiesSeeingRed that Ryan didn’t end this interview. Can you find any source that proves conclusively that Ryan or one his surrogates ended the interview, because it seems to me that the interviewer’s people were the ones that ended it “abruptly”. I’m just curious what really happened.

    • Conservative_Hippie

According to Politico, one of Ryans spokespersons ended the interview. However a Ryan aide proceeded to tell politico that Ryan did not end the interview. Anybody’s guess. Here’s the whole story:

  • NJK

I hear the condescending tone in this so called journalists voice. He is a leftist who’s wearing the journalism title. Good for Paul Ryan. Somewhere along the line, someone told these people that they’re smarter and more important than they actually are.

  • NYGino

Like it. Ryan must be a fan of Newt.

  • anneinarkansas

    What a jerk!
Ryan is capable of handling this type…love it, love it, love it!

  • I think we were lucky to be able to see Paul Ryan on the video with that reporters huge chip on one shoulder and huge agenda on the other!

Ryan is going to eat Biden for lunch in that upcoming debate! I’m tempted to suggest that Biden might try and pull a sick-day or something at the last minute to get out of the debate entirely. Wouldn’t put it past team NObama to pull that kind of stunt knowing what Biden is capable of gaffing out.

  • proudhispanicconservative

It’s amazing that this liberal hack doesn’t realize that he might be speaking to the next Vice president of the United States. Ryan make sure you take that anger right to the debate okay, let’s make sure that we send that senior citizen Biden all the way back to his little state of Delaware.

  • tularockstar

What a schmuck! This reporter was definitely biased and was trying to ambush Ryan in his interview. This loser couldn’t care less about the inner city and its crimes. Detroit has been a crime capital for decades, and nothing but education and job opportunities will help. I’m glad Paul Ryan gave it back to this liberal slime!

  • hermsmd

Par for the course for Flint. I am from Flint originally, and the intellectual vapidity of its news stations and papers is astounding. It’s amazing how dying cities are paralleled by vacuous city government officials and media who refuse to try something different for a change. But, alas, that would defeat the purpose of the Democrat machine.

So, shout it like Terry–Guns and Tax Cuts murder people just like Mitt Romney!

On second thought, suggest that to your Democrat friends so they sound just a little more eggheaded.

    Camp…you suck….bad!

  • Laurel

Talk about bias! the reporter didn’t even try to cloak it.

  • JohnBarry2012

Ouch! When trying to stuff words in people’s mouths, the reporter quickly found out there are sharp teech at the other end. You can’t treat a “congressional leader” with such a flippant hectoring remark without getting a stern rebuke. The junior reporter did much a disservice to discredit ABCNews.

  • RonPaulSupporter2

Figures, he’s from Detroit. One of the most democrat cities in the nation along with one of the highest rates of poverty, highest rates of crime, lowest per capita income, etc. I guess you have to expect this from the liberal democrat Detroit media.

  • Robert4Liberty

I live where this is our local news channel. They pretty much worship at the Michael Moore alter here.

  • mike3e4r7

This testosterone challenged interviewer thought he could throw Ryan a curve ball that he couldn’t handle. When Ryan hit the ball hard right back at the pitcher’s mound, the interviewer quickly decided the interview was over. I think Ryan’s annoyance was the annoyance you have when someone starts a fight with you and gets your adreneline up and when you’re all pumped up and ready to kick some ass, the wimp decides it’s mike’s off – time to end the interview.

    • A_Truism

What I love is that Paul Ryan eyed him straight when commenting on his last question.

  • Vice Prez. RYAN – your debate moderator is being instructed by WH now. Achtung!!!
Please – hit Biden so hard, that MSM also gets some of your punches! 😉

  • carmtom13

    Good for you Paul.

  • Clevername1234

It sounded like someone in the background cut the interview off before Ryan took his mic off.

  • Clevername1234

I’m shocked we didn’t see a gun fight behind the reporter at the end of the video.

  • aposematic

Hmmm… Why the leftists’ talking/pushing point as this headline? This headline should say: Paul Ryan’s crew abruptly ends interview after reporter gets snarky. Repeating leftist crap like Ryan abruptly ending the interview is incorrect as the recording shows, yet you repeat the leftist BS in the heading. Stuff like this happens on a lot of “so called” conservative sights…someone, anyone, please explain why this happens? Can you not think for yourselves…the D’s hope you can’t…ha, ha, its the D’s only hope… So again, why do it?

    • A_Truism

I think it’s to draw the liberals in so they, in their stupidity, thinking they’ve discovered another liberal site, find, to their horror, comments from citizens and lovers of America who actually know truth from bullcrap, and maybe, can learn something about it. Or am I a wishful thinker? Everyday is Opposite Day for libs.

  • kong1967

Reporter: “So, your goal is to give a better education to our children?”

    Obama: “Yes, Steve.”

Reporter: “….and you do that by killing terrorists with drones?”

This reporter is drawing a false conclusion from unrelated topics.

  • CalCoolidge

Did he say, “civil society/” I think Ryan has been reading and listening to Mark Levin. If he says “statist,” then we can be sure.

And then the reported emphasized the Democrat talking point that Romney hasn’t been “specific.”

  • Conservator1

Thankfully Ryan and his staff ended the partisan attack guised as an interview from a local journalist who had already went far beyond the time allotment the campaign agreed to. When a journalist states after a long interview focusing on guns, “and you can do all that by cutting taxes, with a big tax cut,” it’s obvious the reporter was making a political statement on behalf of Team Obama.

If this is the Ryan who shows up to thursday’s debate, Biden is in trouble even with a lefty moderator like ABC’s Martha Raddatz.

  • Fck nazi paul ryan.

    • toongoon

Don’t tell me, let me guess. You are here from the Obama gestapo and and you’re here to help.

    • AlabamaPatriot2

You’re new to this, aren’t you?

    • celestiallady

Oh my is this a grown-up?

      • PVG

        No, a lib!

    • stage9

YOU’RE RIGHT! Paul Ryan is a NATZI! And we need’a strang him up!

“I’m putting together a special team, and I need me eight soldiers. Eight Jewish-American soldiers.

“Now, y’all might’ve heard rumors about the armada happening soon. Well, we’ll be leaving a little earlier. We’re gonna be dropped into France, dressed as civilians. And once we’re in enemy territ’ry, as a bushwhackin’ guerrilla army, we’re gonna be doin’ one thang and one thang only… killin’ Natzis.

“Now, I don’t know about y’all, but I sure as hell didn’t come down from the… Smoky Mountains, cross five thousand miles of water, fight my way through half of Sicily and jump out of a…air-o-plane to teach the Natzis lessons in humanity. A Natzi ain’t got no humanity. They’re the foot soldiers of a Jew-hatin’, mass murderin’ maniac and they need to be dee-stroyed. That’s why any and every [natzi] we find wearin’ a Natzi uniform, they’re gonna die.

“Now, I’m the direct descendant of the mountain man Jim Bridger. That means I got a little Injun in me. And our battle plan will be that of an Apache resistance. We will be cruel to the Germans, and through our cruelty they will know who we are. And they will find the evidence of our cruelty in the disemboweled, dismembered, and disfigured bodies of their brothers we leave behind us. And the German won’t not be able to help themselves but to imagine the cruelty their brothers endured at our hands, and our boot heels, and the edge of our knives. And the German will be sickened by us, and the German will talk about us, and the German will fear us. And when the German closes his eyes at night and he’s tortured by his subconscious for the evil he has done, it will be with thoughts of us he is tortured with. Sound good?”

      • A_Truism

        Hahaha! That was great.

    • KenInMontana

      And you’re outta here.

  • AlabamaPatriot2

Paul should have followed up with a hard right hook to the body and a combination to the head.

  • notebene

Good for Paul! Another great answer is if you want more tax money, you need to have more people gainfully employed to pay taxes! The 47% playing the system need to get of their arses and get to work once it’s available! Private industry jobs are the ONLY way to get people gainfully employed, not public sector jobs. Without private sector jobs, we can’t afford public employees! Another liberal joke, trying to pass as a journalist sent to the woodshed…can’t wait to see Ryan make Biden so mad he cries!

  • stage9

LOL! I thought Ryan was going to swing at him! Would loved to have seen that!

    • A_Truism

Maybe knock some sense into the reporter? I can’t believe the guy actually kept his smart-alec fail for the news! Hahahahaha…

  • drphibes

That’s why you’re “live from Detroit.”

  • TexasEnforcer

That’s why this reporter will never make it in the big time. IDIOT!

  • Well, let’s see dumb ass, you had an ultra-liberal governor for two terms and Obama for 4 years and DETROIT is the biggest *hit hole in the country; how’s that liberalism workin’ for ya? Michigan is just like California; the harder they push liberalism, (and by extension, the corruption it brings) the more things turn to crap, but they don’t get it. They still push for more liberal democrats. Guns aren’t the problem with Detroit, the PEOPLE of Detroit are the problem. Take a look around, it’s not rocket science.

  • Rocco11

The coordinated corruption in the Leftist media is amazing. Some Leftist douchebag reporter hit the great Steve Wynn with the identical question yesterday.
