Paul Ryan endorses his right-hand man for Speaker…

This was so predictable it’s pathetic:

AP – House Speaker Paul Ryan is backing Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy as his successor.

In an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Ryan says McCarthy is “the right person.”

“I think Kevin is the right guy to step up,” Ryan says in the interview that will air Sunday.

Of course. RINOs gonna RINO.

If anyone ever believed that Ryan would endorse someone outside of his immediate leadership team, they maybe they are shocked. But the only thing that would have shocked me is if Ryan endorsed someone from the Freedom Caucus to run the House. That would have been epic.

But alas, he endorses someone who will no doubt continue his big spending, Obamacare saving legacy for the next couple years.

This by no means guarantees that McCarthy will get it, but Ryan has now told all of those loyal to him that this is the man to vote for. So he probably will.

In very much related news…

House Freedom Caucus co-founder Jim Jordan confirmed Friday he is considering a run to replace Paul Ryan as House speaker.

“Paul Ryan’s the speaker. There is no speaker’s race. If and when there is, I’m open to running,” Jordan, an Ohio Republican, told the Washington Examiner.

Friday morning, HFC Chairman Mark Meadows, R-N.C., acknowledged that Jordan is “being encouraged by some of his colleagues” to pursue Ryan’s top position in the House.

Now that’s a speakership that I can get behind. Let’s just hope enough Republicans will do it as well.
