Penn Jillette schools 2 libs on what to do about mass shootings

These libs are out of control. One of them is Nicole Lapin who is a former CNN financial reporter who wants to ban all semi-automatic weapons because they ‘can be turned into machine guns’. Yeah, she really said that. She also said that if the Sandy Hook shooter had walked in with a handgun, that he could have only killed 2 people. Yeah, just like in the 1800s? Oh wait, those were six-shooters. Well, seems clear she is far more beautiful than she is bright.

While Penn Jillette doesn’t touch the gun stuff, he makes clear that we’ve got our priorities wrong, that more children die in swimming pools and cars and we should focus on that instead of on something as rare as a school shooting. And he makes the point much better than I did repeating it.

Sorry Scoop…I don’t think Lapin is that beautiful at all…so IMHO, her intelligence is even than that of your estimate…

    • Can I add. is “Wendy” really a woman? As in born a woman and not just a shehe? Looks like a man in drag to me.

      • LOL! Wolfie, I was wondering the same thing!!!

      • warpmine

My wife says the same thing.

      • “Tha’s a man baby!”

      • Orangeone

That’s put her on the next Maury Povich show when he does the “Was she born a man or a woman”?

      • Orangeone

I bet the (s)he has armed security packing semi-automatics!

      • Sara

Be nice – she’s just a big woman. She has a husband and a son. And no, I don’t watch her show – I find her subject matter petty and annoying.

    • Nukeman60

Just remember, beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes all the way to the bone. Deep down, this brainiac is one ugly… 🙂

    • I think it was sarcasm! LOL!

    • Orangeone

Boom! I was going to post that it’s make-up not God-given beauty because it looks to me like God passed her over.

    • GretaN

She is funny looking. Reminds me of a sloth.

    • don’t call her dumber than a bag of hammers because the hammers would be offended.

  • StrangernFiction

    Fast and Furious.

  • I don’t know what pisses me off more; the three libtard shitheads talking out of their asses about things they know nothing about, or the idiots in the audience clapping like trained seals.

    • badbadlibs

Perfect. It’s a toss up on who elicits the most frustration. oy vey doesn’t do these nut cases justice…

    • Joe

      seals! – Perfect!

    • Conservative_Hippie

The difference is I’d pay to see trained seals perofrm, lol!

      • Orangeone

And the trained seals are worth the price of admittance 🙂

    • Jazzee

      excellent point scary isn’t it?
get the BAD guys guns why don’t they? good GUYS don’t kill people………so why the push for their guns? well we all know the answer and it ain’t pretty
God help us if they convince the idiot public………… for more yrs of this arrogant mentally ill obama pray

    • Orangeone

The audience follows the cue cards, unable to think for themselves.

      • str8ttalker

Sort of the same people who watch the MSM.

        • MovingToNevada

You mean the typical Obama voter…sheeple.

    • Pyrran

      Why not both?

    • str8ttalker

I share your frustration, Kevlar. Watching the debates and the likes of Candy Crowley was equally asinine. Who appointed these morons to be talk show hosts or debate moderators? They have the collective I.Q. of the pet rock I got as a gag gift back in the 70’s. Or the idiocy and crassness of Bill Maher. Is calling people vulgar names supposed to be funny? I don’t believe most Americans identify with these cretans and have better sense to watch something else, with someone more credible as a host.

    • 2bubba

Dimwits talking to even dimmer dimwits. And, what makes that one woman ( I’ve forgotten her name already) “legendary”?
What a collection of unimportant fools!

  • Libtards try to school a Conservative… Ends up getting schooled themselves… learns nothing!

  • aposematic

The people chosen to propagate “information” along with those those people have chosen to lead is proof positive that America is no longer a moral Nation or even one with common sense.

  • These people ask, “What do these people need…” “Why do these people have..” I’d ask the same. Why do these people ‘need’ armed bodyguards? What do these people need with security?

I’ve never heard of any of these people except for Penn, whom I love, and I find them as useless as those from other “talk” shows I never watch. She quotes Jamie Foxx?! Now that’s a laugh, the guy who worships dear leader as his messiah.
Penn was the only common sense in this whole clip.

    • Watchman74

To quote Mark Levin, it’s not a Bill of Needs it’s a Bill of Rights. If our 2nd amendment right is suddenly taken away then the rest can too. It’s a slippery slope.

    • clockwindingdown

Add to that Foxx has a violent shoot em up film opening on Christmas day… Why, he should be giving his income from that movie to help those evil people his movie is going to influence into committing crimes. I mean why should he prosper from it, he didn’t build that…(sarcasm off).

      Foxx is such a tool!

    • CalCoolidge

Why do we “need” to have idiots on TV, making endless factually false assertions? I think there should be a psychological test to have a TV show, and I should be the “czar” who adminsters that test.

  • That…..was almost impossible to listen to. Inane. Ignorant. Narcissistic know-it-alls spewing opinions on subject after subject that they obviously know little to nothing about.

Penn Jillette doesn’t normally sound like a font of wisdom and sanity, but those women would make anyone seem like a statesman.

    • str8ttalker

Have you ever witnessed a conservative thinker-or talker on any of those shows on MSNBC? Same treatment. Especially morons like Chris Matthews, Laurence O’Donnell, Ed Schultz,Rachel Maddow, etc. I’m not surprised their viewership ratings suck, because only depraved minds listen to such drivel.

  • Nukeman60

You really wouldn’t want your kids aware of gun safety, now would you? Parents that refuse to let their kids know about guns are the ones that find their kids aren’t responsible with guns. Gun safety and personal responsibility is paramount in this issue.

Unfortunately, there was only one responsible person on this discussion group. Eleven minutes and I feel I’ll never get those lost brain cells back. This panel makes me feel like they found the worst of every liberal point of view and put them all together.

Please, Lord, let me immediately forget there ever was such a thing as “Wendy’s show”.

BTW, did you notice that she introduced the three as “a news woman, a financial reporter, and an ‘outrageously opinionated’ comedian”? Setting up the biases once again from the getgo.

    • JeffWRidge

I’ve never understood why so many people prefer to make their kids afraid of guns, instead of teaching them to respect guns and how to properly handle them. If they taught people to fear cars, instead of how to drive them, then how likely would those people be able to handle a car safely when they got ahold of one?

The key is education. Teach people gun safety and handling as children, and there would be fewer gun related deaths in this country.

      • Well said!

      • warpmine

Guns are scary stuff to liberals because they can fire a projectile that can tear into flesh thus killing the target. They never want to examine the intent of the person holding the gun which is the underlying force and or emotion for the act of violence perpetrated upon innocent victims. If they had to examine those thoughts they may finally come to the realization that the roots of this violence could be their culture they’ve been slowly instituting since the 60’s. One where God’s place is mysteriously vacant. Troy Anderson gives a nice wake up call to all of this in this piece …

      • str8ttalker

Jeff, you nailed it! Education is the key. You can either learn how to use a weapon responsibly, or learn to be a victim. Is there any other alternative?

    • She forgot to include “a comedian that never gets a word in”

    • Orangeone

Nuke, you forgot its emphasis of “atheist”

  • This video should be called 3 screeching harpies and one rather tall but very reasonable sounding man.

  • James1754

Just lovely, the three women were spewing left wing talking points, most of which were wrong or unfounded assumptions and Penn Jillette was the only voice of reason in the room.
And as for the comment about the murder only being able to kill two people if he had only been armed with a handgun, the murders at Virginia Tech were committed by a lone gunman armed with a 9mm Clock 17 and a .22 Smith and Wesson. Both pistols.

    • Also the Gabrielle Giffords shooter here in Arizona only used a Glock handgun.

      • And if he didn’t have a gun, he’d try with a knife. It’s not the tool, but the user that has to be blamed. If a handyman kills someone with a hammer, do we see a cry for all hammers to be banned? For handymen to have “hammer safes” and “hammer locks” and background checks to ensure you are safe to have a hammer? No. Therein proves the Libtard lie. They don’t care about the murderer, they don’t care about the victims. They only care about disarming law abiding citizens to forward their Big Government is your daddy now agenda.

        • warpmine

Bigger is better to them. If change is needed than the lumbering giant will take centuries to correct the course and by that time, well, time runs out and it’s to late. Beware that lumbering giant girls, when it moves it won’t see you standing there and will crush you to death as another inconsequential statistic on the way to utopia.

        • Orangeone

Thanks Wolfie. Now I’ll have to get a permit to buy a new hammer. Was going to treat myself to one for New Year’s. Guess I’ll stick to projects where I can use a drill instead 🙁 or use that old hammer, likely older than you!

      • warpmine

…but both were semi-auto pistols. If forced to use only revolvers, the killers would just bulk up on those. The real culprit is intent and these liberal fascist a-holes cannot figure that out. They desire to bypass this obvious fallacy the same way they tell us that communism didn’t work in country A because of the leadership wasn’t benevolent.

Would you take financial advice from one that is this illogical? Apparently many did which is why country A is $16.5 trillion in debt and growing.

        • Orangeone

The felon might move to a bomb instead, smaller with larger casualties.

  • Sandra123456

Where to start… face palm.. For one thing you can begin to see how “reporters” spread falsehoods. They don’t know anything about firearms but act like they are the experts with the answers. This bobble head reporter probably learned all she knows about guns from other bobble head reporters, and the lies begin to spin.

One person mentioned that school shootings don’t happen in Switzerland. But all men have military training and most homes have firearms there:

Penn and Teller video from 2008: “BS on Gun Laws”:

    • Great post! Great links Sandra, thank you! 🙂

      • Sandra123456

Thank you! President Bill Clinton proposed funding for cops in schools in 2000.

” Clinton also unveiled the $60-million fifth round of funding for “COPS in School,” a Justice Department program that helps pay the costs of placing police officers in schools to help make them safer for students and teachers. The money will be used to provide 452 officers in schools in more than 220 communities.

“Already, it has placed 2,200 officers in more than 1,000 communities across our nation, where they are heightening school safety as well as coaching sports and acting as mentors and mediators for kids in need,” Clinton said.”

Guess the MSM who are making fun of NRA’s Wayne LaPierre’s proposal for armed guards in schools don’t recall this.

        • They’re very good at having a selective memory. 🙁

          • warpmine

Speaking of such, they’re the only ones allowed to have fully automatic……mouths that is spewing such garbage at a phenomenal rate much like the MG 42 machine gun and sounds almost the same.

            • Orangeone

And their flaming rhetoric does much more damage than that machine gun.

        • Orangeone

To add, Newtown had a cop from 2000-2003 through the COPS in schools program them chose not to reapply for federal grant funding.

  • i still cant believe this woman is on tv lol.. this is a stupid show ..

    • aposematic

These people get a platform, i.e. TV in this case, because they spew Leftist nonsense to an ever expanding Leftist indoctrinated and brainwashed segment of society.

    • warpmine

Well they said that cable would bring everybody something to watch but they never claimed that it would be cerebral.

  • Philo Beddoe

They never mentioned how guns would be taken from criminals did they.

    • aposematic

They also never seem to comprehend the simple fact that criminals by definition do not obey the laws or they would not be criminals in the first place. As with most orgs., the solutions for bad actors/actions are first and formost to punish good actors/actions. Its the fantasy that reducing human action to such a simple state that even a monkey could do it. The “unintended/unexpected” result is that humans become more like monkeys. Witness where we are and where we are headed…

  • JRu4Life

The reason these kinds of things don’t happen in Switzerland is because EVERYONE in Switzerland has a gun. The reason Hitler didn’t invade Switzerland was because he knew everyone there had a gun and they know how to use them. Penn Jillette is correct. Blame the nut jobs and their so-called parents, not the guns, movies, video games, etc.

    • Myptofvu

Also the reason Japan didn’t invade the US after Pearl Harbor. The Emperor wanted to but his Chief of the Military told him it couldn’t be done because you would find a weapon behind every blade of grass.

      • Orangeone

2nd homerun hit of the thread!

Out of the ballpark on that one!

  • NJK

I think he and the UN, Ayers, and their ilk, arranged this shooting, just like Fast and Furious. I think when Fast and Furious didn’t get the desired results, they arranged for a mentally disturbed person to shoot Gabrielle Giffords, and the judge. When that didn’t get the desired results, they moved on to CO, and then they murdered children.

Here’s a nice photo of Obama at his teary eyed speech in CT.

And all this time, I thought tears flowed out from the tear ducts located next to he nose. I told you he was an alien.

Once again I could not watch the whole video, 4 idiots talking about stuff that they have no idea what they are talking about, where is a Ted Nugent when you need him?

    • hbnolikeee

      Penn is an idiot? Really?

      • warpmine

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

      • proudhispanicconservative

On the issue of guns he is no expert.

    • Orangeone

These libtards wouldn’t dare invite Ted Nugent. He is a gentleman but he wouldn’t be gentle with their ignorance and deliberate misinformation.

      • proudhispanicconservative

We have been missing leaders with passion like him for a long time. I love that man!!!

      • str8ttalker

Ted also knows a thing or two about firearms, being an avid hunter.

  • Funny she said that things like this do not happen in Switzerland…

“…Gun politics in Switzerland are unique in Europe. Switzerland does not have a standing army, instead opting for a peoples’ militia for its national defense. The vast majority of men between the ages of 20 and 30 are conscripted into the militia and undergo military training, including weapons training. The personal weapons of the militia are kept at home as part of the military obligations; Switzerland thus has one of the highest militia gun ownership rates in the world.[1] In recent times political opposition has expressed a desire for tighter gun regulations.[2] A referendum in February 2011 rejected stricter gun control.[3]…” (Wikipedia, 2012)

  • Jim Ellis

To have a gun or to not have a gun maybe the question, but neither is the answer. This is a problem of multiple ingredients that to focus on one or two of them will not change the bad taste we all feel about the Sandy Hook tragedy. I for one do not have the answer and will not pretend that I do. Nor do I believe the talking heads on either side have the answers. Most are entrenched in their ideological foxholes taking potshots at each other.

I personally believe we are incapable of solving these and all the big issues of our time. We have trouble solving our own personal issues and now we want to solve those of a country or the world.

As long as I have been alive we are still debating the same old silly issues since I was born fifty years ago. Aren’t you tired? Yet since I was born things are so much worse, so much worse. We have tried conservatism and liberalism. What legacy did the great Ronald Regan leave behind? What about the beloved Bill Clinton? It does not matter who is in office or what ideology controls the various branches of government things are getting worse.

Does not anyone see that the Idea that everyone should have a gun so as to protect themselves and others is a very, very sad admission the we are lost, utterly. I personally believe the saying that guns don’t kill people, people kill people. Do teachers need to have a gun? Do movie goers need a gun? When our teens go to the mall, we must tell them, hey don’t forget your gun. And you know one day someone will shoot up a place where teens hang out and there will be a call to arm your teenagers. An armed policeman did not stop the Columbine massacre.

This is an admission that as a society we are corrupt and lost. Seriously, we can’t get along with each other? Today, people are arming themselves for the apocalypse; I hear these talk shows and internet radio stations. They stock food and buy guns and are prepared to shoot fellow citizens. This is a daily conversation on these shows.

We are a violent society and because of that we sound foolish when we talk about safety. I heard Jamie Fox, hypocritically talk about how we need to address our violent cultures, yet he is starring in one of the most violent movies of the year. We sound foolish. Yet we don’t want to do what is really required whatever that might be.

We are so free that we fear a child in a hoodie. We are so free that I can’t let my child ride a bike out of my sight. We are so free we must constantly be on guard of someone cheating us. We are so free that I must become a prisoner in my own home. I worry for my daughter that sex crazy porno watching men are the only men she has to choose from.

It seems in so many areas we are admitting defeat. We don’t know how to solve the problem of our world. Religion has over the century been more of a follower than a leader as regards morality. They follow the whims and prejudices of the people rather than raise the people to the level of Christ. So no one listens to them anymore. They are just a political wing now. If Jesus came back and told us we are wrong, we are so entrenched in ideology we would tar and feather him in the press and on forums. We are slaves of corruption.

2 Peter 2:19 – They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.

    • The Liberals world view refuses to accept that the human condition cannot be changed. It cannot be legislated away, nor can it be drugged induced away with the various psychotic drugs that are available.

Only God can fix the flaw.

The Founders completely understood this. That is why they wrote our founding documents according to the precepts of Natural Law and the God of Natural Law.

When they attempted to ratify the Constitution without the Bill of Rights it suddenly became apparent it was not going to happen because they were well aware of the evil in some people’s hearts and their ability to twist the meaning of words for their own evil ends. They wanted their rights specifically spelled out so that there would be no confusion. So Madison and the others had to go back and write the first Ten Amendments in plain language to get our Constitution accepted and then ratified.

And so it is today, just as it was in the beginning of our great nation, men are trying to change the meaning of words so that they might rule over us in tyranny.

“On every question of construction let us carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates, and instead of trying to determine what meaning can be squeezed out of the text, or invented against it, conform to the probable one in which it was passed.”
      Thomas Jefferson.

“I know no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves, (A)nd if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power.”
      Thomas Jefferson

      • Jim

And there is the flaw I must say. If the people are flawed then we are truly lost. I would say the founding fathers were flawed. It is like a man who can speak eloquently of his love for his wife and then beat her to a pulp. While writing glowingly about freedom, God-given freedom these so-called great men held men, women and children in slavery (what hypocrisy). Yes we despise it now but if these men were so much better than us, why did they tolerate it against their belief. Not only that they tolerated the forced removal of the native inhabitants. I agree only God can fix the flaw. I believe that his words can change hearts. This is why religion is a sham. It has lowered itself to the level of the people. I am sorry to say this, I wish it was not true. I think democracy is the best that men can offer but it too is flawed. Just look at what democracy has brought to Egypt and other lands.

It is like a broken down car that forever has to be retooled or repaired. Once we reforms some aspect of Government, the reform needs reformed, not because it was a bad law per se, but because the people skirt around it. All our laws have loop holes into which flawed people slip through. Jesus said that only two laws were necessary. Love God and Love neighbor. This far surpasses anything written by the founding fathers. For if they had submitted themselves to these two laws (laws for Christians), they could not have done what they did to native people nor to the Africans. Nor would we need the reforms that we are constantly adding.

I wish to God, that all those who claim to be Christian would just follow the laws of the Lord and Master they claim to serve. This place would be a paradise.

  • This is exactly why the public is so misinformed about everything. Everyone from the President on down is spewing nothing but BS and they are never held accountable.

People who only get their news from the MSM, and that includes newspapers and magazines, only get the Pravda Liberal viewpoint.

One of these idiots even said if a handgun had been used only two people would be dead.
Tell that to the survivors of the Virginia Tech or the Gabrielle Giffords shootings.

Why can’t we acknowledge that evil is in the world.

p.s. I read somewhere that things will get worse.

    • There is evil in the world. Things will get worse, but then…

“Soon the battle will be over. It will not be long now before the day will come when Satan will no longer trouble us. There will be no more domination, temptation, accusation, or confrontation. Our warfare will be over and our commander, Jesus Christ, will call us away from the battlefield to receive the victor’s crown.”

“Or, maybe it’s the fault of movies.”

“Ok, ok, ok… let’s blame the politicians.”

These people want to blame it on everything and everyone but the psycho who did it. Too many people refuse to take personal responsibility, or to assign personal responsibility anymore. THAT is one of the biggest problems in our society today.

bummer, the women on this vid musta slipped thru the cracks

  • keyesforpres

I always blame the person, but I do believe violent video games and violence in movies and tv shows do affect peoples’ minds.

    • The person has to have a mind to do violence first. He may enjoy games and certain movies, but they don’t case the problem. Think of how many millions play video games each day. Yet, we might 1 or 2 individuals a YEAR that “go off” Same goes for movies. I’ve watched tons of horror movies and played hundreds of video games, yet I’ve never even gotten in trouble, not even a speeding ticket. So I disagree that the games/movies cause it.

      • Orangeone

But Wolfie, you also had a solid set of parents, a properly functioning brain, weren’t surrounded by violence in your community and worship the Lord. Many, many kids don’t have any of that in their life. There is nurture and nature, both impact the development of a child.

    • Orangeone

Kids are very impressionable and given the vast # of absent parent homes no one is there to help them understand reality vs. fantasy. Combine that with drugs, gangs and the MSM’s constant coverage, you have a recipe for disaster.

  • The ignorance of these people is astounding. I think that the audience would cheer at anything. These ignorant people are basically talking to other ignorant people, so there is plenty to agree on when you know nothing about what you are talking about. This whole thing is just grinding in my gut. It marks the final stages of our decline into authoritarian rule. Though there is no element of surprise here, ignorant people are guaranteeing our destruction, and winning in their plight. Those same people will lament the loss of our liberties, but will continue to blame such things as inanimate objects and fairy tale terrorists, yet they will continue to call for more. They are their own worst enemy, and also the enemy of those who understand the progression into tyranny that we are fully engaged in. The devil has his vast army of deceived minions who will continue their wave after wave of ignorant rhetoric until the people of this country finally succomb to the tide and get carried out into a sea of despotism. The wisdom of those who preceded us in proper understanding of human nature and the nature of government is being drowned out by the central planners and the complicit media machine that seeks our servitude to those who wish to rule us completely. Woe to those who do not understand this, for they will fall into the snake pit unknowingly, and have no chance to survive. The serpent of old will swollow them up and drag them into the lake of fire kicking and screaming with the nashing of teeth. Woe to those who would do harm to God’s little children, killing twenty of them for the purpose of enslaving the rest of us. Our rulers will kill whom they may, so long as it serves their own greater good, and that of their master, Satan. The day will come for you to bow your knee and here the words “away from me, for I never knew you”. Those little children will be there to testify against you, and you will have no defense, no excuse, and no salvation. Repent and let it be known that you did evil, that your soul might be saved, and the people will know the truth of your deeds.

I love Call of Duty and I never shot anyone, but if your try to come and take my guns all bets are off!

When someone says “Who needs a machine gun?” the correct answer is “Anyone who needs to keep a government from becoming a dictatorship, which is the true intent of the 2nd Amendment.”

    • Boris_Badenoff

I saw a post somewhere where someone asked the question,

Show me where a person that legally owned a machine gun used that weapon in the commission of a crime…

Most logical thinking humans know laws only keep law abiding citizens just that. Law abiding.

Criminals, do not by their very nature, abide by laws..

As was stated , when a criminal is committing a felonious gun crime it takes a good man/woman with a gun to stop them.

  • CitizenVetUSA

In the video, Nicole Lapin intentionally makes statements about handgun ammo capacity and semi-automatic assault rifle’s modification capability that are factually false.

Uneducated people declaring false propaganda should be taken to task regarding their lies.

The president uses the term “Military Style Assault Weapons” which is code for “Scary Looking” thus creating Fear.

His scriptwriters compiled carefully prepared words intending to scare the sheepish into a consensus for political purposes.

    • Actually it really isn’t all that difficult for some determined individual to convert a semi-automatic weapon into a fully-automatic weapon.

That was the only sensible thing she said.

      • CitizenVetUSA

Changing the firing pin will change the rate of fire but it is illegal to perform this change

        • I didn’t say it was legal. I’m a machinist by trade, and I would have no problem converting one should I ever want to break the law.

      • I am sorry friend, but even that is not true. You may have heard people talk as though it was true. I have heard “all you have to do is file this or that down”. No so. The lower receiver parts are quite different on an AR-15, than the M-16. Nothing can be “filed” to make it happen. The Ruger 10-22 is the same way. It takes different parts to make it happen.

My understanding of full auto is that is is much less accurate to shoot. They military changed their set-up to include a three round burst, and a single shot per pull because full auto hits the target less, and wastes ammo. A semi-auto can be “bump fired” which can increase its firing rate considerably, but accuracy is compromises as well. Where pistols are concerned, it is very hard to shoot fast and accurate. Many people have a hard time hitting things under normal circumstances.

The shooter at the school had only two pistols, and an AR-15 in the trunk of the car. They expect us to believe that he killed all of those people by himself, and without a rifle with a high capacity magazine. The coroner was recorded as stating that large rifle casings were found in the school. He said they were all over the place. The kid was probably killed with his mother, then planted to take the fall, while two others were apprehended, then disappeared from media reporting. The shooting was staged my friend.

        • Yes they are different. But being a machinist means I can machine new ones. Like I said a determined individual.

          • Yes, the parts can be made, but those who are not skilled at running a milling machine and designing automatic receiver parts can’t do it. Those who illegally own full auto weapons are buying them on the black market from other criminals. That won’t change by banning anything. There may be skilled machinists that are involved in such a skill as modifying autos to full autos, but again, that will never change with a ban.

            • My only point was that a determined individual such as myself could do it. And believe this, there are machinists out there manufacturing parts for just those individuals that want them.

And by the way you don’t need to engineer the parts. They’ve already been engineered and manufactured. All you need are the blueprints.

              • About twenty years ago, I actually saw the blueprints for making a 10-22 full auto. If I recall correctly, it was just a matter of three small parts, but they had to be fairly precise.

                • All the parts in fully-automatic weapons are precise. As a matter of fact they made the M16 to such a close tolerance that a grain of sand would prevent the bolt from locking properly and the result was the weapon would not fire. They then added a forward assist to the weapon to alleviate the problem but it still had a problem with a little dust and dirt interfering with the action of the bolt. They finally open up the tolerances and the weapon became more reliable in the field.

                • I should have the parts in any weapon are precise. That’s why their interchangeable.

                • When I had an AR-15, I went with the gas piston style for those same reasons. (less debri in the action) They say that the AK has loose tolerances, and that is what makes it so dependable.

              • I’ve never been a big 10-22 fan. I like my bolt action 22. Much more accurate.

          • It seems that we are pretty much on the same page. I will say that a ban will probably cause more full autos to exist. If having an auto is now illegal, then why not go full auto.

          • Why are we having this discussion? Point me to a story about a guy who re-tooled an assault weapon to be full automatic then took out 20 or 30 people. Did I miss something? NOBODY DID THAT so WTF are we talking about? I was a machinist for 20 years but that doesn’t make me a gunsmith. Do you honestly believe there is a threat of a CRIMINAL taking a semi-automatic weapon to a random machine shop and asking them to make it fully-automatic and the machine shop saying, “sure!!! Happy to help you out!”.

Some of the stupid, asinine arguments I read online make me understand how Obama got elected.

            • Read my first post and then you with understand oh bright one. I was only correcting a statement CitizenVetUSA made.

    Hey Obama!

A majority of American’s are stupid! Need proof? They elected YOU to a second term!

  • PhillyCon

Did anyone’s IQ just drop listening to that?

    • It was like fingernails on a chalk board.

      • PhillyCon

I could only suffer through half of the “conversation.” Unfortunately, this is what passes for “discussion” in America. Is it any shock why Obama was elected?

Not mine, I went right to the intellectual conversation after reading Scoop’s great intro!

  • PhillyCon

Gillette is absolutely right about people w Aspergers. I think its sick trying to scape goat people with it.

  • WordsFailMe

We is that we think that winning the argument is the same as winning the war.

  • Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t the Virginia Tech shooter kill 32 people armed with only those handguns that Lapin was talking about? If all you want to do is kill a lot of people fast in a confined area, semi-automatic handguns are just as deadly as semi-automatic rifles, and the Virginia Tech shooter proved that. So what’s Lapin’s point, take all guns away from everybody? And I can’t stand it when moronic crowds who know even less than this woman blindly applaud this type of stupidity just to seem politically correct. More kids die needlessly each year in auto accidents than by guns, any guns. Maybe if the left stopped dishing out all this propaganda more Americans would listen to them. But as long as they keep spouting out emotional lies, then they will be tuned out by most Americans, especially gun owners.

    • The only viable solution to this carnage are armed personnel in the schools. PERIOD!

    • Sandra123456

The Fort Hood murderer used a handgun to murder 13 in a GUN FREE ZONE.

The bad guy was stopped by a good woman with a weapon.

“”If she had not responded the way she had, we would have had an extremely high number of dead and injured. The number of lives that this person saved … we will probably never know.” Chuck Medley, director of emergency services at Fort Hood.

      • Orangeone

14 actually (13 adults and one unborn child). And I LOVE your statement: “The bad guy was stopped by a good woman with a weapon.) Yes she did and thankfully she was using a semi-automatic!

    • PatrickHenrysBody

The total lack of rationality and logic those women had was quite telling. They are either ignorant or choose to be blind to the facts. By the way, it is not that easy to convert a semi-automatic rifle into a fully automatic rifle. It takes special accessories and machinery to do the conversion. I mean, one could use hand tools, but that person had better have a lot of time on his or her hands because the task will be difficult. Then you have existing firearms laws to deal with. One cannot possess a fully automatic weapon manufactured after 1986 and if one does have a fully automatic weapon, he or she must register that weapon and go through background checks with the FBI and BATFE. If he or she wants a license to carry the weapon, he or she must get written permission from either the Chief of Police or county Sheriff. Paying for the license is the cheapest part of owning a fully automatic weapon. A fully automatic weapon will cost $10K or higher (usually higher). Of course, if you’re a criminal, background checks, licenses, and laws don’t matter.

  • kong1967

The kid acted out in a way of things he had learned in entirety over his life. Violence is all around us, always has been, and always will be. There are copy cat shooters, but it’s not the fault of the news media for reporting the stories. People that are over the edge will act out no matter what. Maybe the kid got the idea to do a school shooting because he has seen multiple mass shootings on the news over the years (and it gets attention), but he’s the one with the problem. Those things did not CAUSE his insanity. We can’t shut down society because a rare nutcase takes ideas from his surroundings and uses them to his advantage.

If we did, we’d have to ban cars, knives, swimming pools, belts (used to hang people), scissors, swords, airplanes, and bla bla bla. None of these things CAUSE someone to be a crazy nut job, but all of them are (or have been) used to kill people.

  • sparkyva

A friend of mine lost his double barrel shotgun when Australia banded semi-automatic weapons. Seems that being able to fire both barrels rapidly at a flying goose was way too dangerous for them. This crowd of idiots has consistently misconstrued the meaning of semi-automatic. The Latin root means “like unto”. Semi-automatic mode is typically a setting on a military weapon to fire 3 round bursts. All this is simply scare talk. The second amendment, according to history, was to serve as a means of preventing a strong central government from imposing it’s will on the different States. Now Obama is calling for a national force equal to the military. Knowing 20th century German history, I was astounded that he called for the equivalent of the Brown Shirts here in America. Given his skill at propaganda, Obama may indeed transform America.

    • Orangeone

Americans will not go gently into the good night like the Jews did in Germany and other European countries. We learn from history and are determined not to repeat it.

      • Some of us learn from it, and other are bent on repeating it.

  • clockwindingdown

IF we exchange bullets for words, and guns for people speaking those words then we have just witnessed machine guns being fired blindly into a crowded room. Penn in this case is the protector, guard, police, trying to save us from the crazy people (guns) shooting (words) everyone with blanket fire.

Is this what schooling has taught our citizenry. That all opinions are valid even if they lack actual facts and that speaking ones lack of knowledge is valuable or helpful. Penn constantly corrects these uniformed agenda pushing parasites, yet they continued to reload and shoot.

Penn is an extremely intelligent and conscientious speaker. He brings reality where others live in fantasy. Penn should have this talk show, then just maybe some of the folks displaying their ignorance here would learn something that contributes to a free society.

Now we can see why our Country suffers the elected fools it does, this kind of garage selling it to the masses. The public would be much better served if TV like this was banned (and i’m not for banning things), at least then maybe the parents would spend more time with the children.

    • Why do you think they created the Department of Indoctrination?

“The price of apathy towards public affairs is to be ruled by evil men” Plato.

  • Sweet God in Heaven, how can so much ignorance be in one place and not cause the universe to implode?

  • bjohnson55

Stupidity, ignorance and a liberal agenda mixes to create a very dangerous Molotov cocktail.

  • capelady

I wonder what size sample was used for Obama to say “A majority of Americans support…” ?

And the majority of Americans DID NOT SUPPORT Obamacare, but that didn’t phase Obama. Now, all of a sudden, he is concerned about our opinion?

  • I recall news reports quoting police on the scene that the AR-15 belonging to Lanza’s mother was found still locked in the trunk of his car. The only weapons found in the school were two 9mm handguns.

How is it that now the media insists the students were all killed with that unfired assault weapon?

    • Terry

A single shot, semi-automatic weapon is NOT and assault weapon! I would never want to go into a combat situation with that rifle, you’d get killed. An assault weapon is a much different thing. Why are we letting the LIBS redefine words???

  • greywulf1064

No dipshit, you can’t easily convert them to a machine gun and the 2d Amendment has NOTHING to do with hunting.

  • Kordane

Nicole Lapin: “Who needs a machine gun?

Need is not the source of rights. Need is irrelevant. This is a matter of rights. The unalienable right to own, use, dispose of, buy and sell weapons of any kind.

Don’t let the libs fool you into limiting your rights by telling you only what they think you need.

After all, it’s the bill of rights, not the bill of needs.

If you want a bill of needs, then I refer you to Marx’s communist manifesto.

I applaud all the intelligent women that comment here on TRS’s Blog…

The 3 women on this clip are brain dead indoctrinated socialist socialites, and are not your sisters.

The one that mention Israel, mentioned waiting period, she didn’t mention most photos of a street crowd shows an IDF personnel with an “Assault” rifle strapped across their body.

  • Terry

These libtard women infuriate me. They don’t have the facts straight yet make shrill statements about how the government should not allow citizens to have their 2nd amendment rights – based on hysterical, inaccurate data. Ann Coulter had it right in her book Demonic – the left use slogans and group-think…Americans better stop getting swept up in it. If you don’t know what you have in the constitutional republic, you will lose it!

  • notenoughtime

This individual had social problems and was mainstreamed during his school years because we force our children to be “normal” when they clearly do not have the skills to function in this type of atmosphere.

  • Seriously?

Moron. How many of these shootings have been perpetrated by a monster who converted his semi-automatic rifles to fully automatic?

These idiots really believe we can just go buy military grade assault rifles like it ain’t no thang.

  • wodiej

Because school shootings are less common makes them no less important. While car accidents and pool drownings are most of the time tragic accidents and unavoidable, school shootings aren’t accidents and are avoidable. The statement Jillette made is not sound reasoning in my view.

That being said, we can make the entire school bulletproof but it will not fix the problem. I have no children but I have a 15 year old friend who I have known since she was 4. I would be devastated if she was a victim or even present during one of these shooting sprees. The survivors experience TSD, traumatic stress disorder and they don’t just get over it. It can take years-it can endure for the rest of one’s life. Sufferers experience fear of things such as being far from home alone and having misplaced distrust of people in general. It’s a prison basically.

I believe the problem stems from a society that has allowed people to avert personal responsibility and accountability for their actions. The fault lies w parents who do not teach their kids right from wrong, the government, local, state and federal who pass laws. The fault lies w the progressive groups who push and protest for leniency when people like this shooter should have been institutionalized a long time ago without the need for parental permission.

  • I’ll have what Penn Jillette is having?

  • They should change the name of this show to Ignorant Fools Talking because other than P. J. that’s what it sounded like.

  • BikerHoop

Wow… just wow! These women are so confused and looking so hard for someone or something to blame that they can’t make a valid point for blaming anyone or anything. They just jump from one to the other hoping something will stick, kinda like throwing poo against the wall. Maybe they’d be happy if we all just form a circle, hold hands and sing kumba-ya.

Their statements about guns – can be easily made into machine guns; if he had a handgun he’d only be able to kill two – prove that they have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about but are simply regurgitating liberal talking points that someone else who doesn’t know what they’re talking about made up.

    Liberal lunacy at it’s finest.

  • Charm4sure

It is amazing the number of people who will get on TV and give an opinion not based on knowledge, but based on ignorance with little regard for the fear they are spreading due to their intellectual laziness. They don’t even know enough to be embarrassed by their behavior. If we ban anything it should be ignorance first.

  • “Intelligence” will only get you so far in life. I want to put every one of these people out in the middle of nowhere with nothing but their wits.

  • str8ttalker

I wonder if Wendy’s TV ratings are any better than “The View”? Given the hostess’ and the collective “wisdom” and I.Q of her female guests, I’d be willing to bet, are not very high.I guess you’d have to be a liberal to understand their gibberish, let alone give it any credibility. I”d like to see Penn Gillette on the “Factor or “The Five”, with some of the most intelligent hostesses, like Kimberly Guilfoyle and Michelle Malkin. Fortunately, these ladies do their homework and are pretty educated in their own right. They’re also eye candy for male viewers. Maybe that’s sexist, but good looks and intelligence are an aphrodisiac for men as well. Good figures and good I.Q. “figures” make for successful TV programming. Looks like these ladies better hit the books and hire a personal trainer and an appointment for a makeover—fast!

  • str8ttalker

It sounds like they should have done their homework on guns, but due to the fact they’re liberals, that should be taken into account. Most liberals I know, are smarter than these ladies and show disrespect for themselves, let alone their audience and knowledgeable guests, like Mr. Gillette. I won’t comment on their physical attractiveness–or lack thereof, but I would suggest these people invite more intelligent and knowledgeable guests to educate, not dumb down their audience. Mr. Gillette may not be an expert on the subject, but he at least does not degrade and talk the usual gibberish of fools, as these ladies clearly demonstrate.

Last I heard (and I’m not really following the biased coverage) is that the rifle wasn’t even used. Or at least, there was question. Also, with two handguns, its very likely he could have and did, slaughter that many people.

“ANY semi-automatic weapon can be turned into a machine gun”!!!??? Yeah, lady… I’m using my Christmas money this year to go full-auto on my SA XD 9mm sub-compact. Idiot.

Liberalism, its a mental disorder. THEY are the ones that created and coddle the sick @#$%ers that commit these crimes! @#$% ’em and let them rot in Hell. I hope criminals state-wide in NY are just slobbering, over their new list of UNARMED homes.

First of all you can’t be borderline Autistic. These people are idiots and they should NEVER be allowed to report anything. They have no idea what journalism is and are making an entire sector of our population, who are vulnerable to begin with, the target of crazies. Autism does not make one violent! And that shooter was never diagnosed with any form of Autism. These people should be ashamed of themselves for spreading hate, fear, and paranoia.

  • If there was an armed guard in the lobby, the shooter could have been put down in 2 seconds ( i am talking about the CT shooting). This Liberal lady is knocking guns because libs feel they don’t need them so why should any body else have them???!!!
My wife works part time in a school district and she tells me school security is different in every school…..WHY?…In the inner schools they have metal detectors and guards, why not in suburbia too?…There are plenty of retired cops and other retired oldsters who would love to work part time…and can get a carry permit….I am not blodd thirsty…I can’t even hunt animals… but if I saw some crazy draw a gun and point it at a child I would have no problem eliminating the threat.,.. We must have zero tolerance for this kind of behavior but don;t blame honest gun owners…..we should be blaming the mother who let the gone be available to her sicko son…did she never hear of gun locks and gun safes?
