WOW! thanks so much for terrific pictures! Wish I were able to have attended. Can’t wait to hear it all!!

  • Ktch

    Great pictures! It was awe-inspiring!

  • Leel004

anybody has an estimate how many attended? Thanks

    • Noahechols

      87,000 is the official number.

    • Noahechols

      87,000 is the official number.

  • he said on stage round 500k

  • sarainitaly

awesome! great job beck! not bad for a small town boy from the sticks in Washington!

  • Barbara K. Schuckers

500,000 people? GREAT! STAND FOR SOMETHING…OR FALL FOR ANYTHING!~

  • I think the LSM is really going to have to work hard to find anything negative about the entire event. As you can see from top photo, there was a huge crowd, larger than those along the pool, off to the left. Amazing and yes, no matter the lies of the LSM, there were at least 200,000 to 300,000 people there.

  • Mikokeanu

    Terrific! Thank You!

  • AOOP

It is so sad…if you look at the last picture, it appears that Glenn had to wear a vest….just in case….

  • Trishgolucky

I feel sad for you. Open up your heart and mind.

  • MissOdie

Thank You Glenn Beck and everyone who put on a great rally! We didn’t get here in a day. We won’t get back in a day. The message of unity beside God and the answer is within us all. That answer has always been inside of us; we just have to turn off the TV, phone, radio, and listen to the spirit (or whatever you want to call it) inside of each and everyone of us. “We” are the solution, not a government or elite rulers, “We” got us here, “We’ll” get us home.

  • mocha

The first picture clearly shows the AP is right. It’s tens of thousands, not 500,000.

  • mocha

Nonsense. Look at the first and fourth pictures. On each side of the Reflecting Pool is about 40 people across by maybe 300 rows back. 2 x 40 x 300 = 24,000. The area to the left of the line of trees on the left has about half again as many people across, so let’s say 120, but it’s not full, you can see a lot of grass, so let’s say it’s full 3/4 the distance back toward the WWII memorial, or 225 rows deep. 120*225 = 27,000. Let’s add another 5,000 for the people scattered behind the WWII Memorial. 56,000 tops. You can see it yourself when you look at the pictures.

    • TheBob912

Have you ever even been to Washington, DC? Or out of your mommy’s basement for that matter?

      Go away, you little gnat.

  • mocha

He exaggerated by 10x. Look at the pictures and see my counting below.

  • 500,000 is “tens of thousands.” It’s fifty of them. That’s why AP uses that language.

FWIW — I’ve done quite a bit of crowd estimation from photographs — the inner area around the Reflection pool holds between 50,000 – 80,0000 per side, so a conservative estimate puts that at about 100,000. It’s clear that there’s at least that many more over in the area on the left in the first photograph. So we’re talking a rough ballpark minimum of 200,000.

  • and the crowd goes all the way to the washington monument.

  • Yeah, like I said, that’s a minimum. It could easily be twice that number.

The video feed didn’t capture the whole scope very well. It must have been an amazing feeling to actually be there!

  • Anonymous

Very impressive. I was a little nervous wether attendance might be low and the selfconfidence of the movement might collapse. At least that didn’t happen. However I am still anxious as to wether runofthemill christian conservatism might usurp the tea party and launch America back in the old left-vs-right gridlock.

  • yeah. We’ll know for sure on monday.

  • Nobeldonna

Does anyone know where I could watch the Friday night Kennedy Center American Devine Destiny event that Glenn did? I woud appreciate a link. Thanks, Donna

Check the photo out from the BBC. It is like the first image in the thread, but full size. You can see the massive amount of people among the trees on the rights side of the image.

Huffington Post: One man can change the world,” Beck told the crowd. “That man or woman is you. You make the difference.”

Obama used a similar message on the campaign trail. He used to say that one voice could change a room, one room could change a city, and one city could change a state. Obama liked to say that state could change a country and urged supporters to go out and change the world.

  • Lord Maximus

Mocha..are you a troll? Looks like it – 300 rows? 56,000 people? Go to HuffPo with your made up numbers.

Anyways…there were EASILY 500,000 people. I was there. Around the reflecting pool and there was NO ROOM anywhere along it. It fits 200,000 (officially) and it was past capacity from an officer we spoke too.

From the top picture – to your right, there is in an area filled with people that officially holds 300,000 and it was near capacity from the same officer AN HOUR BEFORE THE SHOW STARTED.

WHAT YOU DON’T SEE…the tress on the left that cover the Vietnam Memorial site WAS COMPLETELY PACKED with people, even all around the Vietnam Memorial…it took us nearly 45 mins to walk from the street to the Reflecting Pool, where our seats were at. You can’t even see those people from the tree cover. The officer said that there were anywhere between 75,000-100,000 there.

Finally, what you also don’t see from that top pic is the people that covered nearly 3/4ths of the hill leading down from the Washington Monument to the WWII memorial.

56,000 people huh? For someone who wasn’t there, didn’t talk to crowd control officers, and doesn’t even know official capacity numbers of the grounds there, sure is confident of himself.

  • Tim

Give it a rest mocha…..reguardless of the amount, what’s more important is the MESSAGE.

Can you hear us now. You will in November!!!!

    MLK: “I have a dream”
Obama: “I have a tee time”

  • Tim

Mocha this is the same BS they said about 9/12. You’re coming off as a whiner.

  • That wouldn’t save him with the hardware that’s on the street these days.

  • Anonymous

The reflecting pool is approximately 2,029 feet long and 167 feet wide. Here’s the width and length of the reflecting pool. Maybe you can use this to help you redo the count. Knowing the actual size of the reflecting pool is better than guessing.

  • Imprudent Speculator

I was there from about 10:00 am to about 11:45 am. There were quite alot of people. No exactly standing room only, but much of the area was occupied (most people sitting). Very orderly. I wandered around and the crowd did extend, albiet thinner, all the way to the Washington Monument. The theme (while I was there) did not discuss anything “political” but stayed on personal responsibility, contribution, etc. (Interstingly, on the Metro (subway) down to the rally, a gaggle of “twenty-somethings” with Obama t-shirts boarded and talked about the best way to reach the Mall. Not sure if they went to the Beck or Sharpton rally).

  • I was there! Perfect weather! Glenn Beck said 600,000 attended!!!!!!

  • I was there. The weather was perfect. Glenn Beck said attendance was around 600,000!!!!

  • Sarah Palin had the crowd going nuts. Great speech!

  • I just posted a better photo of the crowd at the top.

  • MrBoJangles

Ha! Beck in a Kevlar vest …. beautiful!

Nice to know he feels so comfortable with his surroundings

  • larryonLI

    mocha your a dick

  • Guest

They announced 200,000 at the rally.

  • TerpAndy

One of my favorite moments was right before it started when a flock of geese in a V formation flew right up the Reflecting Pool towards the stage and rolling thunder of applause came with them.

It was a sign of how wonderous the day was to be!!

  • Anonymous

What a sad, sad day for America. This reminds me so much of Germany in the thirties. Nationalism was THEIR cry too!

    • Gman

How can you be so intellectually dishonest with yourself?

    • BANNED!

  • TerpAndy

LOL….Sorry, there was WAY more than 40 people across on the left side of the Reflecting Pool where we were. Keep in mind that there are people shoulder to shoulder under all of those trees just to the left of the Pool and also way over to the left where there may have been 40 across just there alone sitting in the shade. Heck, it was 15 people across under the trees alone that are obscured in the photo.

    I KNOW….I WAS THERE

Typical that SOME want to downplay how many were there to minimize the message.

  • Outstanding! Good Bless America!

  • Anonymous

A speech? I saw her read a few lines, and then introduce a few veterans. Frankly, I expected more from her.

  • J_phred

Mt dear, the only people I see acting like National Socialists are Mr. Obama and his partners in crime, Pelosi, Reid, Emmanuel, Gibbs, Holder, etc.

  • Gman

Go regurgitate your filth in the Huffington Post where you belong. Who the hell do you think advocates for a National Socialism in the US? Liberals a la the Democrat Party. How thick can your skull be not to know that?

  • Wish I was there.

  • Gman

Don’t respond to her, she’s trolling.

  • mocha

OK, make it 100 people across and 900 deep (27 inches between people is tight spacing) . That’s 90,000. You can’t make it 500,000 let alone a million. There were nowhere near 100,000 people there.

  • Uh Mocha, is the lighting really bad there in your momma’s basement? LOL, You can twist and turn facts any way you want, you can’t change the truth. Folks his math is as fuzzy as 3.3 million jobs saved or created. The Nat’l Parks Service has a method they use, and if you look at their method, it’s at least 350k. Can you hear us now Mocha? You will in November. Then your momma will have to kick you out to get a paying tenant!

  • mocha

No one but the sponsors and the fans are reporting numbers like 500,000. The AP says tens of thousands, even FoxNews says “thousands”. The pictures don’t lie. There are not 500,000 people in those pictures.

  • mocha

The AP uses that language to make the distinction it is Tens of Thousands, Not Hundreds of Thousands. FoxNews even said Thousands. Come on. You know they don’t mean “Five Hundred of Thousand”. It was less than 100,000. Why are you unhappy with that? That is a heck of a lot of fat middle-aged white people to coax to get off their sofas in their air-conditioned trailer homes to come to DC.

  • Laurenhudson1

He was in a kevlar vest because people on YOUR SIDE OF THE ISLE threaten the lives of his family and himself EVERYDAY…..so much for tolerance on the side of the Democrats. laurenjane001

  • mocha

To have 1 million people you’d have to fill the Mall all the way to the Capitol building. That’s a National Park Service number.

  • Anonymous

I hope someone gets a screencap of Sarah wiping away tears as she sang Amazing Grace. That summed up the whole rally for me. Great job Glenn, and thank you for sharing these photos, TRS

  • mocha

    You applauded for geese?

  • Gman

mocha, how can you be so intellectually dishonest with yourself? You and I know all those people are standing shoulder to shoulder from the pool, under the trees, through the field and to the other trees. There has to be at least 300,000 people there.

    • mocha

Not that many people fit in that space. Even Beck said his permit was for 100,000.

  • Iammillionaireman

It is hilarious, at Obamas Inauguration, the libs called this gathering 1.8-2 million people. It is not even a solid group yet Beck only drew “Thousands”

    http://newdandyism.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/newdandyism-inauguration_3_crop.jpg

  • Eddie R

Not Fall for nothing, but fall for a Slogan Hope and Change

  • mocha

The National park service stopped estimating crowds 15 years ago after the Million Man March, but nice try. The AP says tens of thousands. FoxNews says thousands. What? You don’t believe FoxNews?

  • ChiTown

The Million Moron March was empty, without meaning. There was no honor in the first place. How can you replace what was never there?

  • mocha

Moderator, are you saying the majority of the people at that rally were not white, over the age of 40 and overweight? Look at the pictures and try to say that with a straight face.

  • Puma for Life

I think it is sad that Sharpton et al had to have their own march to demonstrate their divisiviness. They could have joined in with Beck in honor of Dr King; that’s what Dr. King would have wanted. I think Sharpton et al are like dinasours on their last legs. Where is their honor?

  • Njack1951

I’ll give Beck one kudo…he IS a fabulous actor and uses all the tricks of the trade. I didn’t know who Larry Lonesome Rhodes was, but watched the 1957 film “A Face in the Crowd”, Thursday night. Glenn Beck is a mirror image of “Lonesome Rhodes”.

    • sodizzy

You are sadly cynical. I hope you see the real light one day.

  • J D

abc lame stream media estimates 86,000 attended. Looking at the pictures it’s hard to imagine that low ball number being anywhere close to accurate.

  • donttreadonme

The area around the pool will hold 200,000 and the field you see next to the left of pool will hold 300,000, there are also people on the right side, not sure how many people that is.

Beck said he made sure to get true count this time after 9/12 rally.

I,ll guess and say at least 600,000, maybe more.

  • Earl2020

And the BBC’s caption for that picture says ” Tens of Thousands of people…” Tens. Not Hundreds of Thousands. Tens of Thousands. Every major news source is reporting less than 100,000. Even FoxNews. Why do you feel the need to inflate the number? 50,000 is a lot of people.

  • Metalist

You really have a problem facing facts, don’t you? You weren’t there (thankfully) and have NO idea what you are talking about. Go troll huffpo or something.

  • Moira

You did mean to put an exclamation ( ! ) point instead of the ( ? ) mark, did you not?…..that is how most of us are reading it anyway!!! God BLess America! Glenn, CARRY ON!

  • donttreadonme

Just area around pool is 200,000, don’t be fooled be the aerial shot, that area is huge.

  • We Love you Glenn….keep on keeping on….

  • Stoxman7

I believe that Glen is an honorable , honest family man , and as far as I know has NEVER been accused of consorting with and abusing prostitutes in a motel room. Praise The Lord!

  • earl2020

That’s the highest number being reported by any media. FoxNews doesn’t even say tens of thousands.

  • Anonymous

I was there today, so you want to talk numbers? Even under the trees there were 10,000’s of thousands of additional people not in the photo’s. The sad thing is that people are talking numbers and not issues. I commend Glenn for the Event, also thanks for the water. The DC Park Police were great and so was the Metro. O’Reilly, I will look for you to make good on your 8pm time slot promise…..PINHEAD !

  • Rawdibob

Gee, I wish my wife and I could have been there but the money spent on airplane tickets (Seattle to Washington) would be better spent on electing conservatives to Congress.

  • Drew_WI

Wow. I was not expecting this huge of a crowd. Couldn’t make it, but I watched it all. Amazing.

As for those trying to mock and disparage the rally and its participants in any way they can, it just goes to show how desperate they are. It’s downright sad.

  • earl2020

I don’t think they were wanted. This was posted on the ustream comments:

5:49 porplemontage: too many black presenters this is not why i watch glenn beck

      gotta love censorship.

  • Anitasusanne423

Thank you for fantastic photos! Very inspiring event, and I commend Glenn Beck. He’s an honest, honorable man, and it takes courage to stand for what you believe.

  • mmmyeah!

    fuckin beast

  • RonPaul2012

Ron Paul the only TRUE STATESMEN in govt and the original starter of the “new” tea party… and he wasnt invited to speak… hmm… funny how the sheeple can be lead by a traitor like Beck and Palin..

  • Bring out your trolls. Bring out your trolls. Wow they certainly have found their way to this thread including some of our favorites that hang around here. Remember folks, dont feed them, its what they want. What an amazing rally this was. Folks of many faiths there, and likely some folks with no faith there as well. Thank you RS for posting the pics and the video so that all can watch.

  • Gman

At the huffpo trolls are considered upstanding citizens

  • Bmorrison77

I saw that as well, prteety cool!

  • RonPaul2012

Glenn Beck for the Patriot Act.. Then not. Beck for the Bankers Bailout… then not…Beck for a VAT tax to repay the Slave Bankers… Beck said Ron Paul was crazy… Then when he stopped running Beck said he could just kiss him… Beck said FEMA camps exist… then changed his mind… but they actually do.. Wake up people we have a Benedict Arnold among us… how much proof do u need to finally wake up and realize Beck is a evil person?

  • KeninMontana

Funny I didn’t see or hear anything about the Tea party until you brought it up. You trolls are really starting to bore me.

  • Mary

Glenn is to give us an accurate count on Monday. Just wait and see.

  • Dude, Ron Paul died in 2001 when he flew that plane into the World Trade Center. Don’t you listen to Alex what’s-his-name?

  • How American can this crowd be? There are no burning flags, no pictures or images of Mao or Che, and there is not an official representative of the Obama Administration to be seen anywhere. No Liberation Scatologian….urr,…umm, Theologian was invited to speak. Worst off all, they started off the rally with the Pledge of Allegiance and (gasp!) a hymn, God Bless America.

Hahaha! “Scatologian” was highlighted by the automated spellchecker since it’s not a real word. On a whim I checked its suggestions, thinking that “scatological” would be the recommendation; it was, along with “climatologist.” Hahahaha! Gotta love it!

  • IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY!

WELL ALOT OF PEOPLE FELL FOR OBAMA’S BULL-CHIT!

  • I was there and I’m not even in the shot. I couldn’t get that close. I’m closer to the Lincoln Monument rather than the Lincoln Memorial. I had to use binoculars to even see the Jumbotrons. Clearly, there are many, many more people there than what that shot shows.

  • I WAS THERE IN SPIRIT!.

THE TURNOUT WAS FANTASTIC!. BEIEVE ME, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN MILLIONS MORE IF WE WEREN’T ALL BROKE!.THINK OF THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE THAT WERE WATCHING FROM HOME!.GO GLEN!

  • Robco26

“You got the stones to say that face-to-face to those folks… that’s one thing. Lifting your leg from the safety and anonymity of your keyboard to relieve your inner seethings… will NOT happen here.”

Unless of course it comes from mocha!! LOL

  • THE MORE THE MERRIER!

YOU DON’T EVEN BELIEVE YOUR OWN EYES, SCARY

  • Mark

you should look to the right and see all the people under the tree’s about 3/4 of whats on the left.. Also not counting people you can not see under the tree”s HMMM Looks close to 750k Might wanna try redoing your math

    America rising!!!

  • KeninMontana

    You’re done, good bye.

  • Dray11

Don’t forget about all the folks under the trees!! Why does the count even matter to you??

  • I have mixed feelings about all of this and this is why. I think Glenn has done a wonderful job in bringing us the history or our nation and certainly of exposing the communists/radicals in the Obama administration.

On the other hand, I find it unacceptable and inappropriate that Glenn is now mixing spiritual and political issues. As authentic Christians, we have an obligation to our Lord Jesus Christ to not be unevenly yoked in spiritual matters.

The Apostle Paul warns Christians against uniting with unbelievers in spiritual endeavors in 2 Corinthians 6:14 where we read, “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” In verse 16 Paul declares that Christians must be spiritually separate from non-believers. Remember Paul is talking about being spiritually separate.

I shuddered when Glenn said that it does not matter whether you go to a church, a synagogue or, a mosque. we need to all pray together to God for His help. Yes, we do need to turn back to God because we have left Him out completely.

But what God is Glenn Beck serving? He is a Mormon and Mormons to not see God the Father of our Holy Bible the same way Christians do. Mormons do not deal with the cross of Jesus Christ! What can I pray about with a Mormon, an Orthodox Jew or a Muslim? These 3 faiths view Jesus Christ very differently.

I am going to please God instead of man. While I applaud and agree with many of Glenn Beck’s conservative and constitutional views, that does not give me or any other Bible-believing Christian justification to compromise Biblical truth by spiritually joining Beck in an event, that according to his own website, included an evening in which “nationally-known religious figures from all faiths were invited to unite…”.

The problem is that as a Mormon, Glenn’s definition of God the Father is not the same as that described by Jesus Christ Himself in the Bible.

Many American Christians will allow their commitment to reclaiming the country, reclaiming Congress, lowering taxes, and defeating the progressives trump their commitment to the Biblical mandate declared in 2 Corinthians 6 as well as the mandate of 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 which commands Christians to expose every high and lofty thing lifted up against the principles of the Lord.

American Christians should not and cannot rate our success on whether or not we return our country and culture to its Christian roots. Our success or failure must be based on whether or not we have been faithful servants of the one and only true God and have earnestly contended for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints (Jude 3).

I commend Glenn for all of his hard work and his ability to just get in the head of our present President. I support Glenn in everything except things of a spiritual nature.

Unless he renounces his Mormonism and declares himself a Christian, there is no way, authentic born-again Christians can unite with other faiths just to save the country. If we really want to save our country, let’s put Jesus Christ the only Son of God, in the forefront and march behind Him. I guarantee all you, we will prevail!

I love Glenn Beck and pray for his spiritual condition as many of you do.

There is a timely post on my blog about Glenn written by Brannon Howse. Please read it at http://www.wearejudeochristianperiod.wordpress.com.

May God continue to bless Glenn and our great country.

  • Dray11

Yes, he was surrounded by security whenever he walked anywhere. I can’t imagine having to wear a vest just for speaking your mind. Thank God nothing happened to him.

  • Guest

    That’s a whole lot of white people…

  • Pjmannc

you should take you own advice.. not to mention they said the same on 9/12/2009, I was there, it takes about 2 million ppl to line up from washington monument all the way to the capital building.. seen that with my own eyes.

  • Max 2008

All of us are not too fond of President Obama’s version of “Change”

  • Max 2008

Can we retire the “how many people were there” arguement. We will not all agree.

  • Guest

    Ouch, censored.

  • Max 2008

How dare you! The fact that Mr. Back needs to wear a vest is heartbreaking. People have threatened him, his wife, his children. What kind of people threaten someone else’s CHILDREN over politics?

  • Msheehy

Yeah, I didn’t see any white people at Poverty Pimp Sharpton’s affair either so what’s your point?

  • Max 2008

I don’t think we should presume to speak for Dr. King, but I think you are correct. It would have meant more had there been true unity, but some people can’t let go. I understand Rev. Sharpton and others of his generation may have difficulty letting go of the past they had to bear, but wouldn’t it have been MORE healing to join thiis event? And on the more realistic side, if this date means that much to your community Rev. Sharpton, why arent’ there annual tributes on this day?

Mocha, there was several hundred thousand then there were about 15 after-rally parties. Guess you’re not up on current events. Bottom line, the conservatives took over DC since Thurs. The rally wasn’t the only gig in town. Wake up dude.

  • Guest

That there’s a whole lot of white people.

  • nativehoustonian

Mocha, you idiot. That was in the mornig before all the people arrived. It’s called the “pre-party”. Guess you have you r microscope doing a headcount in your momma’s basement, as the gentleman above suggested. Get a life. You just can’t handle it that they didn’t do any advertising and had a great turnout. Oh and ACORN didn’t pay for them to attend or travel. These great Americans paid their own way. No welfare there today, mocha.

  • nativehoustonian

Why are you nimrods discussing how many people were there? For the black million man march, only 100K showed up. Who cares? People came and showed their honor, faith and patriotism not a Million. Get over it and be happy that people had a great day and weather was permitting Ya’ll are a bunch of pessimists and sour puss’s.

  • People on the left keep asking what the point of this rally was etc. It really is quite simple. Glenn Beck believes that we are headed downward as a nation. The polls show that most Americans feel the same way….Now, Glenn Beck also thinks that before we can even begin to elect leaders who can turn it around we must first get back to basics as citizens and as individuals. To him this means focusing on God and how our freedom comes from him and not government. It also focuses on what our founders intended the nation to be in regards to individual freedom and liberty with limited government, but also with respect for our defenders IE the military.

Pretty simple, unless you are on the left. All they ever see is RACE RACE RACE. What a shame.

  • Cliffy44

Mocha, you feeble-brained o-Bozo zombie, the actual government established estimate is 525,000.

I hope that your career involves a butterfly net and a can of R.C. Cola; or perhaps you’d be better acclimated to be Lindsay Lohan’s or Paris Hilton’s drug handlers?.

YOU are a prime example of the reason that OUR country is in the shape that it is.

Does Mommy know that you’re using her computer????

    • Is Mocha one of those Obama trolls that wanders around spamming people? Because even the brain dead at the LA Times called it at 500,000. LMAO. Yeah, Mocha, 10,000 people. Wow…just…wow.

  • Moretap

Mocha, I enjoy crowd estimation too. A couple of things you are neglecting is that the area under the trees was the most densely pack (nice shade), the crowd went all the way back to the Washington monument (albeit less dense there). Try using the area. The pool is 167 x 2029 square feet. There are about 4 pool sizes to the south, 2 to the north, .5 to the east, and .5 to the west (7 total). lets give an estimate that each person takes up 5 square feet (some areas are less dense). Thats almost 500,000 right there, and I didn’t even included the people east of the WWII memorial.

That brain-dead O-Bozo zombie is coming across as a talking butthole that should have been consumed, instead of conceived.

And if his Daddy wouldn’t have been so cheap, and would have bought his Mommy one or 2 more drinks, he would have been (consumed, instead of conceived).

  • Cliffy44

Mocha, I saw your sister in those pictures. NOW, I understand why your so messed up; and that’s a word good to describe you, that won’t offend the moderators and / or the censors; even though everyone knows the teal word / intent that applies to you.

    Crowd Estimated at 87,000
    http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20014993-503544.html?tag=contentMain;contentBody
“The company AirPhotosLive.com based the attendance on aerial pictures it took over the rally, which stretched from in front of the Lincoln Memorial along the Reflecting Pool to the Washington Monument. AirPhotosLive.com gave its estimate a margin of error of 9,000, meaning between 78,000 and 96,000 people attended the rally. The photos used to make the estimate were taken at noon Saturday, which is when the company estimated was the rally’s high point.”

  • Cliffy44

    Charley, I missed sharpton’s event.

WAIT – C-Span says that it was the lowest A.C. Neilson demographic of any event that they have ever broadcast.

    WOW, that’s remarkable.

I guess that I’m NOT the only one that missed it.

    GLENN BECK ROCKS AND RULZ.

  • Cliffy44

Ya can’t really blame Mocha. I heard that when he was a kid (last week) that his bathtub toys were a toaster and a coffee maker.

  • Cliffy44

Mocha, did your two Daddys have any kids that lived?

  • Cliffy44

Mocha got blocked by the Moderator?

Just when we were all starting to want to offer him a lifetime supply of Preperation H, because he is an _________ (fill in the blank).

  • Cliffy44

Mocha, go have intimate relations with yourself.

(just like you do, every other night; and 3 times, on weekends)

  • Cliffy44

bojangles, you wouldn’t have had the “stones” to do what Glenn Beck did.

Comparing Glenn Beck to you would be like comparing a Filet Mignon / Lobster / Pheasant dinner (Glenn) to a rancid pile of dog (CENSORED), minus the pooper-scooper (bojangles).

  • Decodenny

Is that a ballistic vest under Beck’s shirt?

  • Cliffy44

Glenn Beck is a National Hero.

  • Cliffy44

Mocha, just like Berserk O-Bozo, no one wants you here. PLEASE JUST LEAVE.

Go to the Huff Po site, where you can bask in the idiots; and feel right at home, with all your brain-dead progressive liberal peers, you moron.

  • Cliffy44

Same people that estimated 50,000 people at Woodstock, back in 1969.

Glenn Beck’s “RESTORING HONOR” will come in at more than the 525,000 that the government guestimates were there.

  • dabbo

I just got back home from the Rally….it was an awesome event. The crowd was tremedous. Bus parking at RFK was overwhelmed and we had to be directed to other lots near by. (there were still buses as far as the eye could see behind us trying to get in)…..there was a 1.5 hr wait at the stadium metro station….so we walked up though town to another station with the aid of a woman with a GPS…. didn’t make it to the Wash Monument until 11am, with people still pouring in behind us….we went around the outside of the main crowd and pushed up as far as we possibly could and only made it a 1/4 way up up the reflecting pool. Close to the last Jumbotron.

The speakers were spot on, the people were receptive, and the message was dare I say, awe inspiring.

OH, and by the way, when it was over barely a piece of trash was left behind. Conservatives are without a doubt the very best of America

Mocha is a Troll who needs to get out of his mom’s basement once in a while.

  • Me

This is what a bona fide crowd of 100,000 people looks like. Use the tool to scan the photo. It is very very dense all the way around and an excellent reference to help because we know almost exactly how many people are in the photo.

    http://www.art.com/products/p10041948-sa-i679140/mike-smith-michigan-the-big-house-at-anna-arbor.htm

If you are at all intellectually honest, you will be able to tell that the crowd on the mall today was probably just a little bit smaller than this one. It certainly is not larger. Mocha is correct.

Mocha, you’re a DOPA! Sitting in your mom’s basement in your underwear, using her computer without her permission and trying to downplay the attendance just isn’t cutting it.

  • Cliffy44

Puma, sharpton has all the class of a black widow spider with buck teeth; and NOT because he’s black; BUT, strictly because he’s an idiot.

What I want to know is this: What did that Jessie Jackson wannabe do last year (when there was no RESTORING HONOR event), or the year before, or the year before that, or at any past August 28th?

sharpton is a moronic, inept opportunist, with no class and even less intelligence.

He should be the poster child for retro-active birth control.

  • dabbo

CBS is high….and not on their estimate….. I often attend Penn State games at Beaver Stadium which holds 110K…..I know what 110,000 people look like ( I’ve been to many sold out games)……the crowd at the rally today would have easily filled that stadium 4 or 5 times…..period.

  • Judith

Shut up and go study your textbooks on socialism.

  • Cliffy44

To those that missed RESTORING HONOR, just know that C-Span will be re-broadcasting it a couple of times over the weekend, and at least once on Monday.

Go to C-Span’s website for details in your broadcast market area.

I can’t wait to see it again. It was beyond excellent.

Glenn rocks and Sarah was beyond excellent.

  • Judith

Great observation. Libs only want to disconnect everyone else with their “little” celebrations.

  • Cher Keeton

Yes it was amazing to watch and i too took photos from my cel phone and video recored some of it , what an awesome day not only bringing us back to the time when Martin Luther King stood up and said ” I Have A Dream ” but the reality of how far back this country has become , by the ways of the world . We need to get back to where the Lord wants us to be . Whats this ? God out of schools , courts , white house , stores , employment ect . No wonder we are so in a mess , we forgot what we stand for ,our principles have become lacks and our values are shifted , our forefathers would be dismayed at this .

  • Cliffy44

He’s NOT sitting there in his underwear.

He’s sitting there in his Mommy’s underwear; as she’s upstairs working, trying to make Mocha have a lil’ baby brother or sister, with no Daddy (to speak of); which is how Mocha got here, on the first place. Isn’t that obvious?

  • Howard Ino

    Dumb de Dumb….

    “THE ONLY….”

At least make a coherent argument!

I like Paul but I worship no man!

  • dabbo

    RTTD,
I agree with much of what you said but I think you’re being a little too ridgid….nobody can come unless they are called. Most stong christians you know today started out weak and a little misguided on one thing or another…or they may have been misguided on a lot of things. Glenn, I believe, is seeking God in earnest and I think God is doing a work in his life.
If this is true I doubt Glenn will continue on with the Mormon Church. The church doctrine that is not scripturally based will begin to take a toll on him until he can’t abide it any longer.

However don’t under estimate what a man will do to keep a happy home….if Mormonism is his wife’s original faith he’ll have a very difficult time seperating himself from it entirely.

  • Anonymous

Great photos and, apparently, a great event – must have been a mighty big crowd if the NYT admits it and NBC says 300,000 – was it over a half million?

  • Howard Ino

Love it…. Americans are laughing at Big Media (refusing to buy their bias OR ADVERTISING)…

They PROMISED us a recession after Bush’s re-election and it is now taking then DOWN!!!!!

They believe in Karma…. and now they have met their enemy and they are them!

Just damn…. I am so happy that I didn’t grad from their Business schools!!!

    As for now….

Since Newsweek…. which rag will sell for $1.00?

  • dabbo

I think numbers would be pretty easy to estimate….I’m sure they know how many people exited at the Smithsonian Metro station.

    Say it was 500,000.

so….500,000 minus the 8 people that were at the Al Sharpton rally gives you 499,992……done.

  • Drdfrck

It does matter how many attended, it was just a confirmation the tide has turned in America back to conservative values. The dumocrats will loose the majority in both houses of Congress in November, and oblamey will be the lamest, lame duck President in our American History. He can proceed with his plans for his ‘one failed term’ prezidential library inside the Ground Zero mosque building.

  • Judy

What a great day! God bless America!!

  • Anonymous

This was awesome! I have to say that it was inspiring to see so many in attendance for such an important event. I wasn’t able to attend myself, but instead watched online. Let’s ensure that the conservative turnout is even larger come November! Buh-Bye Boxer & Reid!

  • Mocha – how’s that Kool-aid taste son? Great pics of the rally! Liberals – We are coming for you in November!

  • Beckisjesuscallimmigration

    Racism is funny…

  • palinsgunsareawesome

I’m glad you had to have your rally at a Government location, supported by police officers (government again), that many had to access via government-funded modes of transportation. The irony is spectacular.

  • gopbottom

    But what was actually said?

  • sosorrybushies

Nice try. How about less than 90,000…

  • fortheloveofnewt

More people will pay $100 for college football games next weekend all over the country. Thousands upon thousands more. Who cares how many showed up for this non-event? Nothing was said. It was a nice day. It was the last day of summer. There are thousands of tourists there on a daily basis who had no clue what the event was. Get over yourselves teabaggers.

  • normy69

Cliffy, your fascination with Mocha’s genital habits is quite revealing.

So you guys who say it’s a lower count of people, you’re tryna tell me that what I see is NOT what I see. Do I have that right?

  • fillmewithgoodies

    What exactly did she say?

  • sodizzy

Let’s see you stand up there then! Easy to take pot shots from behind your computer screen.

  • University of Michigan Stadium holds an official capacity of just over 110,000. Realistically, it crams in about 112,000. That photo shows the stadium filled to capacity, plus another 20,000sh? surrounding it. What’s funny is when I looked at the above pics, I used Michigan Stadium as a measuring stick to decide how many people were at the Restoring Honour Rally. Great minds think alike.

  • I appreciate your passion but please steer clear of purposefully trying to incite people with incendiary comments.

  • KeninMontana

We would expect the same from you in the way of coherent arguments, attempts to incite will get you nowhere but out.

  • What! Reagan was ANZAI? Really? Reagan was a member of the Academy of Australian Audiometrists Incorporated (ANZAI)? Is it possible that the gourd that sits upon your neck lacks the “substance” commonly called gray matter, and that this lacunae is responsible for your misspelling of a difficult word like “Nazi?”

Glenn did well and the rally was well organized and the production was excellent in both its content and pace.

But I must disagree with what our major focus should be. Until we have public figures (pols and policy makers) willing to take a strong stand in support of public financing I am afraid we doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past.

Lobbyist = corruption = a weak and disenfranchised middle class

  • Vanilakisses4u

Maybe if everyone IGNORED the TROLL MOCHA, maybe he would just wither away…Lol!

  • Anonymous

It is quite amazing how many liberals are blowing their head gasket over this event. All over the Web they are in a froth and spamming vitriolic and malicious rants on any comments board.

I guess this hasn’t been a good 19 months for them, and since they have been unable to defend President Obama’s policies, they see that their only option to is project their hatred on a simple little event called “Restoring Honor.”

This reaction shows once again that the progressives can not govern. I wonder if the talking heads on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and NBC will have on-the-air meltdowns so Republicans can run it during the mid-terms.

The Republicans must have one of Congressman Anthony Weiner when he completely blew his gasket. The ad can show Weiner’s meltdown and a voice-over of ‘they control the House, the Senate, and the White House and yet they are so dysfunctional they are having mental breakdowns right in front of our eyes. Vote Republican if you want to safe the Republic.’

    Or something like that.

They must be in a lot of pain if “Restoring Honor” is sending them into the abyss.

And when the best estimated comes out of the attendance of more than 200,000 I would imagine their angry will get even more hateful. As one poster mentioned already that NBC is saying at least 300,000 people and even the NYT is agreeing that there were over 200,000.

Some will say who cares about the number it was all about the message. Heck, I enjoyed the message, but the rabidness exhibited towards Beck and those who attended the “Restoring Honor” event are once again proving that there is a disconnect between those who worship Obama & his policies and with those who think America is the greatest country of all time. No apology tour needed!

  • Well, thanks to Glenn, I am reading more and more history of our country. As I said, he is doing a fantastic job in that area. but, I also read my bible. While I love my country and will fight to save it, I also want my soul saved as well. Really, I’m praying that Glenn will realize that he sounds more like a Christian everyday and hopefully he will just drop the Mormon deal. I’s sure David Barton and now Pastor Johb Hagee are gently helping Glenn along. We need Glenn’s voice. Thanks.

  • Amen … we are all growing in the Lord. Didn’t mean to sound rigid. I, too, believe that God is working on Glenn and with time it is very possible that Glenn will renounce the Mormonism. Until, that time, I guess we should keep watching his show and support him when we can but, by all means, pray for him and Mrs. Beck. That could be the breaker as you said. Thanks

  • Gwells4

Thank God I was there! Totally inspiring and amazing. I met good people from all around our country. Two years ago I had given up on the future of America, and now I have renewed hope and confidence. I finally stood up, got involved and I will not become apathetic again. We the people are are standing up, speaking out and comitted to a government of the people, by the people and for the people once again.

  • Trout

Judging by the cloud cover, those ariel shots were taken just before the Rally began. The clouds were gone and it was completely sunny just as things got started. The crowd was much bigger. All sides of the War Memorial were packed as was the grass area from the Memorial all the way up to the Washington Monument. The people were packed shoulder to shoulder all through the trees back to the little pond on the other side of the hill.

  • RitaM

Thank you for these photos!!!!! My husband attended, said it was an event he’ll remember for the rest of his life. Courage and leadership are indeed coming back! Yay!

  • Barbara Paolucci

Bravo Glenn Beck. You did it! Caught some news clips of Sharpton’s ‘rally’ he constantly referred to this event at ‘they’ in a prejorative manner. Not nice at all. He did not take the high road, Glenn did.

This is a wonderful affirmation of the fact that there are good people; red, white and blue Americans, who still live out God and Country. I can’t wait for November.

  • ginaD

What, exactly, is your point mocha? Many, many people were there. Do the exact numbers really matter? Anyone can look at these photos and the live shots yesterday on FoxNews and see that a huge contingent showed up! Glenn Beck’s ratings alone should make the point. If no one was listening, his show would have been cancelled long ago. I am so tired of the left berating Mr. Beck personally. Notice that no one takes issue with his FACTS, only his method of delivery. They make fun of his tears, his past, his schtick, but I’ve yet to read anything that contradicts his research. Let the numbers go. Hear the message – or don’t if you choose. But please stop thinking that you can stop the tide by picking at the details. We’re mad as hell, and we’re not going to take it anymore.

  • Isemingerfamily

I watched on TV while my family was there…they said there were 1000’s there the night before!! There were easily 100’s of 1000’s but the numbers don’t matter THE NATION watched it on TV and online…But you can fight the numbers all day…they don’t matter till November and everyone will see that this nation has had it with politicians who lie steal cheat and would sell their own mamma for a chance to screw this country over!!!

  • Sally Mcgirk

These pictures are GREAT, woo hoo, yah baby!!! Thanks Mr. Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin. This event looks to be the best time ever for those that attended and for those of us following the news. Praise GOD for the faithful that made the journey in this SUCKY bo-admin economy suffering the beatdown. There are a millions and millions upon millions of patriots in the United States of America that LOVE and support the Tea Party in this country.

  • C Minger

Mocha why do you care so much how many people were there???? So weird that you are practically hysterical about it…Its THE MESSAGE!!! That was given that we are all so excited and passionate about …THE MESSAGE!!! You dear sir are not showing honor….Me thinks thou dust protest to much!!! You didn’t take notes when you watched the rally and apply them!!!!! Maybe you should have DRV’ed it and watched it again….We have got to help our nation..we have got to get the people passionate about what this country means and stands for…we have got to remember our founding Fathers and what they wanted for us…freedom to live our lives as we see fit!!!! Please mocha…think on THE MESSAGE of the Rally not the numbers!!!

    $120,637 per tax payer

I was there with my wife about 50 yards from the stage on the right hand side of the reflecting pool. We were all packed in like sardines. There were even people under all the trees that you can’t see packed in as well. I think there was about 750,000 people there. What you can’t see from the aerial pics is that there were additional people to the left of the trees on the left hand side.

Sharpton’s rally was just the opposite of the Restoring Honor Rally. They ranted and Raved, and it was far from a Unifying event. A Congresswoman Named Norton started ragging on Glenn’s rally so much they cut off her microphone. She was also demanding statehood for DC . There were very few that didn’t have some kind of politcal statement. From the faces in the crowd, and, the guests on stage, it was obvious it was far from an all inclusive event.

It was a great event….I was so happy to be able to take my daughter with me. It is something she (and I) will always have and always remember. She felt as if she were witnessing history, and she probably was……hopefully the beginning of the end of this progressivism scourge.

I liked the part where GB said that in the crowd could be a child that’ll someday end up changing the world for the better, maybe it will be her?

I pray for you daily! God Bless You and your Family! and your staff!!!

    Mocha

What are you talking about compared to other events staged at this venue this one exceeded all expectations with al least 250,000 there, you and Joe Biden need to wake up!

  • proudamericanarmyveteran

mocha – it seems you are so obsessed with minimizing the crowd numbers that you missed the main point entirely. From the special election results around the country in the last several months, and from opinions of ordinary people I meet on a daily basis, there are probably many MILLIONS of folks nationwide who could not be in Washington for the rally, but WILL show up at the polls in November. Folks like you will surely be surprised when the tidal wave of votes are counted. Then the numbers will be absolute and they will count. I believe that ordinary Americans will reclaim their government, and you will either have to change your thinking or get run over by the flood. God Bless America !!!!

  • Fffour

Well I was logged on watching it on FB, and there was at any given time 150,000 people logged on… Can’t marginalize that, you idoit

  • Gman

To be unevenly yoked with an unbeliever is to be married with one.

  • Craig

I don’t care if there were 5 people or 500,000 people at this rally. Some of these nay sayer we have running around this blog need to get in touch of what this country is all about. Freedom of Speech is what this is all about. If we don’t have that we have nothing. Regardless of politcal views (even though the socialist mindset is bankrupt), if one side is trying to quiet the other side you are spreading a cancer this country that goes against it’s core values since it’s foundings. So for all the anti Beck crowd who think your view or the (Obama) view is supreme and no other view is worty to be heard be careful for what you wish for. At this current time you are being looked upon as useful IDIOTS and you don’t realize. Please wake up and be part of the solution not the problem.

  • Kb9ibw

It was a very good and inspiring event. I would have loved to have been involved in the event in some way. As a speaker, or by using Amateur Radio to allow the WORLD to hear it live over short wave. I hope that they will repeat the event again next year. We need a follow up.

  • Kennethy69

Quit drinking the kool-aid and being so jealous. People like you that think they are an elisist but have no morals or common sense (like the “Messiah in Chief” 0bamba) are losing support from thinking, normal Americans. “We the people” will take back our government and our country starting in November….

  • Metwo

You obviously have no clue as to the size of the reflecting pool and the area that is crowded by the people at the Beck rally. Nice try though. Here is the true size of the national mall. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Mall#Dimensions

How many people would it take to fill up 1.2 miles on both sides of the pool?
How long is the stadium? The field is 360 feet(120 yards).

The mall from the steps of the Lincoln to the Washington Monument is 6,337 feet or 2,112 yards, that means that the area of the Beck Rally is about 17 times larger than Michigan’s stadium.

Do you really think people are that stupid?
    Me who?

  • What a powerful day for America! Get on board, the train is moving!

  • Asian_gal41

I was there, estimate is more than 500K because there were crowds all the way to the Washing Monument. Standing room only near the fountain. It was inspiring.

  • Great minds? More like the simple-minded think alike. Your sense of perspective, much like your politics, is way off. The crowd stretched nearly to the Washington Memorial, which is a mile away. Michigan stadium is NOT one mile long but instead around 200 yards (120 yards (10 for each endzone), plus 40 on either end for seating) or roughly 1/9 the size JUST in terms of length.

Thank you, Glenn, for reminding us all that Faith, Hope and Charity are the essence of true civil rights for all Americans…not just one group!

  • Me

I know that you are determined, but you obviously really want to believe what you’ve been told, but the reflecting pool is about 2000 feet long. The crowd was only dense for the first 1500, then it started dramatically thinning out. There were a few hundred people back at the Washington memorial. It was not packed. Lawn chairs are twice as wide as humans crammed on bench seating, so the density is probably far less than a traditional march or of Michigan stadium.

The circumference of Michigan Stadium at its last rows is approximately 2500 ft. The circumference of the playing field is approximately 1400 ft (450 x 250 surface area)

The width of the reflecting pool is a little under 200 feet wide. The width of the lawn and walkways on either side side are just over 100 feet wide. The lawn on the south side of the reflecting pool and walkway is about 250 feet wide.

The width of Michigan Stadium’s seating all the way around is about 300 feet (consider the 20 degree slope of the bowl when making this calculation) wide.

So, let’s do some oversimplified math that even kids from Texas with their f’d up text books should be able to follow:

An average length of 1950 ft multiplied by 300 ft wide = 585,000 sq ft = 100,000 + densely packed people.

The mall has 2000 feet in length by about 500 feet of seating for roughly 1,000,000 square feet of potential seating, which would potentially hold 170,940 people using the same densely packed scale.

But then the question of density comes in. If you look at the pictures the crowd is only filling about 90% of the space, plus they are certainly not shoulder to shoulder like a Michigan Football Crowd. Half of them are in lawn chairs and sitting/standing farther apart, front to back, than the bleacher seats, too.

Let’s be REALLY generous and say that the crowd density is 60% of a potential shoulder to shoulder crowd.

The rough estimate, being rather generous, is 102,564.

I know that math is hard for tea party folks, but really….

    • Cliff121764

If people in Texas are so stupid because of our text books, why is it that we were the only state smart enough to have the ability to secede from the union if/when the goverment forgot its place and who they work for?
It’s people like you- ignorant- that got us in this mess to begin with by electing this idiot we have now! Couldn’t you understand that there was no way he could do everything that he promised and not raise taxes. DO THE MATH!!! Spend billions with no way to make up the money. And you say Texas people aren’t smart. Look in the mirror…

  • Me

You obviously flunked 9th grade geometry. See the math and actual dimensions (well a helluva closer than your chicken scratch) of the two crowds in the post above.

Perhaps you should take a class in cartography, too.

    • TheBob912

You note the circumference of the stadium. This measurement is at the OUTSIDE, correct? What’s the INSIDE circumference? (FYI – it shrinks enormously as one moves toward the center) You also failed to note in your comparison there are TWO sides to the reflecting pool, totaling almost a full linear mile, plus all those around the memorial, at the opposite end of the pool, and around the Wash. Mon. How about the fact there were more people under the trees and not in sight than there were between the trees and reflecting pool where they could be visually acknowledged.

Also agree that we must, when comparing apples to apples, look at past events in the same space and the “accepted” estimates thereof. All told, it would be hard to argue a soul under 1/4 million.

How about the Obama inauguration for starters?

  • Me

Paragraph 7 should read “The Reflecting Pool has 2000 feet in length…” Not “The mall…”

  • Lm9794

Photos are AWESOME — being there was just as awesome and fulfilling. The Revival begins here with each one of us.
    Linda

  • Lm9794

Park Service counted over 600,000 by 9am. Glenn announced that middle pool area holds 250,000, side area alone holds 250,000 to 300,000. Two side areas were full. 250,000 + 300,000 + 300,000 + back to Constitution Avenue. You do the math. I figure just over a million. The Metro was a disaster. Not a surprise. Accidental???

  • KeninMontana

Even NBC has placed it’s estimate at 300K.

  • KeninMontana

So are you saying that NBC is no longer a major news network? Their estimate is 300K.

  • Lm9794

If you log onto GlennBeck.com, you can sign up for his Insider Extreme and watch the Kennedy Center experience (3 hours). It was also great. God bless him.

  • enoughalready

The Washington Post (liberal leaning) said 650,000. Their photo showed people leaving the event. I’ll bet there were over 1 million. We were under the trees to stay cool and it was packed. Sooooo…everywhere you see trees, there are people.

I have never met so many nice, warm and genuine people in my life. From the folks in the plane, in the restaurant, on the street and the mall. The message was something no one could find fault with yet when we saw the round table on CNN, our jaws dropped…who are these people?

It was miraculous! Can you see us now? America is awake.

  • Rockstar683

I was there…there were a million. The Washington Post said 650,000. It was awe inspiring. And the warmest, nicest people I’ve ever met. It also raised over $5 million for the SOWF to provide money for children of our fallen soldiers for college expenses or other needs.

    How wonderful!

  • enoughalready

Mocha, I was there. It was beyond the Reflecting pool, under the trees, and beyond that to completely cover all grassy areas beyond, back to the WWII Memorial and beyond that. It was PACKED!!! And a wonderful experience. Maybe you should have counted Reverend Al’s–only had a few hundred there and they were waving some flag the was black, red and green@*%? Are they Americans? Do they want to be part “of” this country or a part “FROM” this country.

    • AJ

Using the area of the pool, 338,843 sq. ft. and the number 5 sq. ft / person used by the park service when they did crowd estimates, we can assume a number 67,768 people to fill the pool area. By looking at the size of the pool, and how many times the surronding people would fill it, a ballpark count can be reached. I think it would be a conservative estimate to put it at 2-1/2 – I don’t think even Mocha would argue that number seriously. That gives a crowd size of 170,000. I am sure that altogether there were 200,000+, but even at 2-1/2 pool size Mocha’s “guess” is way low – and so is the “professional estimate” of 87,000. There is no way there is only 1-1/4 pool area of crowd in that picture.

      • Idarocbob

You’re only looking at the people you can SEE!!! All that deep green ain’t just a thick shrubbery, my friend. Its nothing but mature, limbed-up trees under which hundreds of thousands stood unseen from the air, looking toward the stage and TV screens UNDER, through, and between the branches. I was one of them; Standing at least 200-300 feet from the pool’s edge and could barely walk the 50 feet or so to the outhouses b/c people were so think under there.

  • Jo_marino28

Not a Tea Party person but was there. So packed I could not get from the rail along the reflecting pool (was at about the half way point) to the porta potties on the outskirts. Not even paths to walk. Say what you want, rationalize all you want, but there was a good 300K there.

  • NOYGDB

    Well, consider this:
    On this page:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWVCiVuTYlg
titled ‘A Day of Dueling Rallies Bring Masses to DC’

In that video by the Associated Press (narrated by Lee Powell), at time 1:56, you have video of a marshal turning people away from the rally, stating, “Nobody else can come in, folks. The park’s at capacity.”

So, if we can find the rated park capacity, we then have an accurate count of the number of attendees.

“Oh, but how do we find the National Mall capacity?”, you might ask…
    http://www.nps.gov/nationalmallplan/Documents/DraftEIS/DEIS/EnvCons_Events.pdf

“An estimated 2.1 million people could be accommodated on the National Mall…”

  • Johnk

What’s happening in November? You don’t mean elections, do you?
I thought this event was not political?

  • Vv

God Help America…..you are so hypocritical and your actions and behaviors are so ungodly. God would probably turn you all to salt.

  • Ardiva

So, it looks like Beck was wearing a bullet-proof vest?

  • KeninMontana

    Bye Troll

  • NOYGDB

Actually, Beck’s permit was for 300,000.

  • abigailadams57

When I logged in to watch on Facebook, there were 1.1 million on with me. WOW! I don’t think it matters as to how many were actually there, as to how many are understanding the message. We have an adm. and Congress who wants to subsitute “God” with government in our daily lives. That’s just plain wrong.

  • abigailadams57

Oh, when I think of restoring honor, I think of Franklin Raines, head of Fannie Mae and Jamie Gorelick (the wall builder between the FBI and the CIA – 9/11) and the 96M and 36M they walked away with for doing “nothing” but making government insured loans to people who couldn’t afford the loan to begin with. They looted a government agency with a “false” compensation agreement (meant to loot) and nothing was done about it. What honor, or love of Country did they have? None.

  • Ganell

I am sure it doesnt matter, but there were over 100,000 on facebook alone – watching the Restoring Honor rally.

  • Me

As someone who knows both, the mall and Michigan Stadium, pretty well (yeah, I went there), I don’t have any problem with my estimate. I’ve seen 100,000 in Michigan Stadium. I’ve seen 25K on the mall. I’ve seen 100,000 on the mall. I’ve seen 500K on the mall. I’ve seen 1 million on the mall.

I know what big crowds look like and this was a very large rally. But it was not historically huge. Not even close.

The one professional group who publicly estimated, airphotoslive.com, said between 78,000 and 96,000. If they want to stay in business, they would not be off by over 200K.

I can only assume that your 300K number is based upon the fact that you were in a big crowd and couldn’t get to the bathroom. That’s not terribly scientific.

  • RightScoop…hoping you and cubachi attended on Saturday. I was following a twitter conversation and hoping you would both be there! Great coverage on the site!

In most photos you cannot see the crowds beneath the trees that stretched from the pool to beyond the pond on the right, and I don’t know how far on the left. The metro was shut down by the crowds, as some here have written, so those people couldn’t get to the Memorial via mass transit.

Of course, I wouldn’t know as much as the geniuses who did not actually attend.

My husband attended 9/12…estimated this crowd to be about half that size, which the British media estimated at 1.5 to 2 million. (Unfortunately, that’s where we have to read some of our news these days…)

When you count those on the ground, and the 125,000 or so streaming the event, plus everyone who watched on C-Span, I think the message reached a sizable audience. Anyway, it doesn’t matter really. It was a remarkable Friday evening and Saturday morning even though talking about God is neither cool nor PC; even though the day “belongs” to MLK, or something; even though Glenn Beck is a shill for [name the group] and a Mormon which definitely qualifies him as the Son of Lucifer (but, to his credit he’s never beheaded anyone on YouTube); even though we were too diverse or not diverse enough…

    Jeez, whatever!

Mr. Beck has our heartiest congratulations and thanks for the two thoughtful and inspirational events this weekend.

  • Read the tweets sent to him on a daily basis. Proof enough, wishing cancer on his young children, hoping he’s killed or offering to do it themselves.

Just go there and read. Any day. Any time.

  • Itsme_cassie

I am so sorry that mocha detoured all of you. He clearly won as you all focused on him … not on Glen Beck and his accomplishment. I could not be there and I came to this site to read all the inspirational comments from those who attended and there are but a few. If you were there please post your personal experience, feelings, admiration, love and the words of the most amazing man in the country today, Mr. Glen Beck! I was hoping to live a vicarious moment through the people who attended.

  • Biermangroup

My wife and I came from Phoenix Arizona to attend the rally. Glad we went. It was a great event and and a great message!

  • Bobsgirl

What an awesome experience!!.. I’m so glad to have been a part of this historical event. It was very moving. Everyone there had the same thing in common: Love of our country, military, and faith in God. I’ll remember it forever…

  • Oh so the amount of people who show up for a rally to raise money for the children of military casualties is a popularity contest for Glenn Beck? Mocha,Mocha, Mocha… As the spouse of an active duty Army soldier that has served you and this country for 25 yrs, I was there. Say what you like but my personal count was 500K-1 million. They were not there in your honor, they were not there to show Beck’s,Palin’s, or Dr.Alveda King’s popularity. They were there to listen to what was being said, and to honor those who were being given awards. Play your numbers game all you like, the people that were there knew it would happen, just like the lie that there were no black people there and I find it so very odd that it didnt matter to those that were there if there were black people there, asians, gays, muslims. For just a little while we were all Americans with nothing to divide us, and we were there to listen and to honor those who have sacrificed their all for us.

  • Nikki_crumpet

One little problem with your “professional group” concept. If you go to airphotoslive website. They do NOT offer crowd estimations as a service they are NOT professionals at crowd estimations. They only take aerial photos for business purposes. So why is anyone giving their estimate any credence?

  • CobaltBlue2009

About 5K people, if you listen to the MSM.

  • Nikk_crumpet

why are you only focusing on how many people attended? Why haven’t you given any credit to the fact that they raised millions of dollars for a wonderful charity. Would it hurt too much to actually admit something good happened?

  • NIKKI_CRUMPET

Not to mention all of us who watched it on c-span. I’m sure for every person there…there were 10 at home who wished they could have afforded to go. Imagine those numbers!

  • Noahechols

Where are the African, Asian, and Latin Americans in these photos?

  • Regman

Forget about how many people showed up at this thing because that’s not the important question. The most important question is why did they not have a rally to take America back from that idiot Bush and his staff? We could’ve avoided all the problems that we’re having now years ago.

  • Tgchick721

Mocha, were you there? Was AP there? Was Fox News there? I was. When both sides of the reflecting pool get filled, it’s 200,000. The fields on each side hold 250,000. I don’t know how much the hill in front of the Washington Monument holds, but that filled up too. Get over yourself. The fact is, there were over 500,000 people there. If you can’t handle it, that’s your problem.

    • TheBob912

No one seems to be noting the fact that a two-dimensional photo hides all the people under the trees. Make a note: Those treetops are HIGH and, with the exception of the area their 1 to 2-foot diameter trunks take up, that spae was PACKED with human bodies. I was among the God-knows-how-many who occupied those spaces. I would guess there were easily TWICE as many under the trees as were in the open space between the tree line and pool.

And then there are the masses which extended out behind the trees…

      Massive indeed.

  • Tgchick721

Oh and you are scientific? I don’t what your politics are, my friend, but you are wrong on so many levels. Get over yourself and realize that the event was enormous and had a huge impact. You don’t have to be a Tea Party person to believe in God and country. That’s what this was about, you moron.

  • Tgchick721

Honey, you need to take off those rose colored glasses. 40 ppl across?? You are seriously blind! Where were you sitting that you counted that? In front of your computer screen? Yeah, that’s what I thought. Try being there being you post unsubstantiated drivel.

  • Tgchick721

    “before” you post unsubstantiated drivel.

  • ThomasPaine II

Whether there was 10,000, 100,000 or 10,000,000 at the event should not be the issue. The number of people able to attend in person is, in no way, a benchmark of those who hold the same values of Mr. Beck.

  • Tgchick721

No he didn’t. His permit was for 300,00. “We” far exceeded that. Again, if you weren’t there, I don’t want to hear your drivel.

  • Reality 99’r

Who cares how many people were there.
The point is that they were there.
From what I read Sharpton had a few hundred.

  • JeffW

Yes look at the pictures Mocha, or are there too many for your 9 fingers and 8 toes? You and your 4 buddies/family members who watch MSNBC and own kneepads, one says obama and the other says olbermann, counted how many there? Beck’s rally had over 500,000, Al “if I can’t win on message, I’ll just call them racists” Sharpton had 2,200. Get a freakin clue Mocha. Even if you’re going to be wrong, at least have the honor and intellectual honesty to be truthful.

  • JeffW

That’s the difference mocha, we’re not lemmings like you liberal retards are. We look at the facts and make up our own minds, yes, I know, a foreign concept to you. Yes you’re right the park service OFFICIALLY stopped estimating crowds after the million man march but they haven’t stopped UNOFFICIALLY estimating and Fox news was accurate, there thousands…and thousands….and thousands…..technically AP was correct as well….tens of thousands…

We conservatives aren’t as afraid of facts as you liberals are….

  • PatelloJohn

Why must everything about race? Does anyone question why there were very few if any white people at Al Sharpton’s rally? MLK said judge by the content of your character. America is a place of equal opportunity, not equal outcome.

  • postonent

It wasn’t “political”, however, it has to be clear that the theme is one of unity and a return to the roots of what was intended for this country by our forefathers, NOT what Obama, Pelosi and Reid want for this country which is pandering to the Muslims. apologizing for American to those who hate us, tearing and running down American’s honor, destroying our economy, forcing healthcare down our throats, refusing to, in ANY way, listen to THE PEOPLE for whom they work, ignoring the Constitution and blatantly breaking it’s laws, wanting to give amnesty to all the illegals just to gain more votes, and the list goes on. Therefore, it could be construed that a “Restoring Honor” rally would be, in some way, political simply because it is to restore America’s honor to its people where it belongs, not the Communist, or possibly even Sharia, agenda of the current administration run by a man who won’t even publish his REAL birth certificate. A “Certificate of Live Birth” is NOT a “Birth Certificate.” All it indicates is that a child was born alive SOMEWHERE, NOT necessarily in the United States. All of you who buy that as a “Birth Certificate” don’t understand the law and how certification works. Obama is, at best, a liar, at the worst, a Muslim infiltrator bent on destruction of our way of life. The people who listen to Beck understand that if we don’t stand up to this regime, we are doomed as a nation and America’s greatness will be lost in the history books.

I am not a member of the “Tea Party,” in fact, I am a registered Democrat, however, I think my party and this country are being led to the slaughter by a silver tounged devil and we need to wake up from the hypnotic trance and show him what “CHANGE” means.

  • postonent

Uh, Rick, HELLO!!! The park service stopped counting after the hoopla the blacks put up after the “Million Man March” only produced about 100,000, not 1M and the park service had the nerve to publish that fact. They decided, to He** with this, make up your own numbers if it makes you happy. So they haven’t counted any rally since then. So, basically, there is NO method used by the park service.

Best to keep quiet when you haven’t a clue. Wish Obama, Pelosi and Reid would do that. IDIOTS, that is all they are, egomaniacs on a power trip determined to force their warped agenda on America. I suppose you support that agenda, eh???

  • Ronster23117

Really? I thought he stated 300 – 500K, But it really doesn’t matter because that’s a relatively small cross-section of the voters you will hear from in 2010, 2012 and every election thereafter. You may as well change the Democratic Party to the Communist/Socialist/Marxist Party because the heirarchy and platform has been exposed for what it is.

  • Ronster23117

LOL…According to your calculations…the “Million Man March” should be renamed the 100,000 Man March. Please inform CNN, MSNBC etal…to correct their statistics.

  • Ronster23117

…and it’s not “terribly scientific” if the photos aren’t time-stamped and there are photos taken at specific intervals throughout the event and there are computations for each photo. I’m an Engineer that worked for the Fed and private industry…I’ve seen how facts have been skewed in the past simply by omission. Provide all proper, scientifically documented data and I’ll believe these lowballing figures by MSM. It’s real simple to take a pic 20 minutes after the final act and claim it to be the “critical mass”. From a Engineering and scientific stance: Prove it with facts…ALL of the facts.

  • Mjad2003

And the number is? …….The rally looks to have been quite a success. If you doubt the numbers of several hundred thousand, you didn’t look at very many pictures posted even on the left media sites. Now it remains to be seen what the follow-up is. Hope it doesn’t become political tripe. We have enough of that every day from politicians. Let’s keep the momentum going of getting back to what our founding fathers worked so hard to obtain. Faith, Hope, Charity and add Integrity. Christ taught 2 simple rules: 1. Take care of God and 2. Take care of the people around you. Faith, Hope, Charity and Integrity go a long way to achieving plenty and following these two simple rules.

  • Patkiker

I was there. we arrived late to only hear part of Sarahs remarks. There were so many people there trying to get under the trees, you had to step over people. It was very hot in the overflow field, to the left of stage. The chopers that flew around the sides of the crowds could not possibly see under the trees. Mostly standing room only. Some were lucky and were sitting on the grass. We were there for a higher purpose. All shapes, all sizes, all colors just Americans who love their freedom and their country. It was awesome! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!!

  • Clem

Mocha, Glenn said that there were esstimates, by others, of 200K; 300K, and up to 500K. These are not his numbers, but those of others. Being off by a factor of 10 is total B.S.

  • Rjipson

My feelings and beliefs also. Well said. These are worrisome times if not scary times.

  • Rjipson

My feelings and beliefs also. Well said. These are worrisome times if not scary times.

  • Rjipson

Again, it does not matter what the number is in attendance. You can see with your own eyes there were a “few” people there. You are blind if you cannot see where this country is being led. Get your head out and pay attention.

  • Marilyn

I would guess Glenn’s count was accurate – we got there late (around 11AM) and we couldn’t get past the Washington Monument – it was packed —

  • Rcwagener

If This was a Liberal Democratic rally the press would say there were 5,000,000
a Republican get together 5,000; a Conservative get together 500; a Conservative Christian rally 50. And Obama, Reid and Pelosi got together and gave their estimate that there was just one person there Glen Beck, and one in the crowd, Sara Paling, and all the rest of the people there are counter demonstrators led by Charlie Rangel

  • Rjipson

Just hate, anger and blame from this “other” group. I refuse to call J Jackson or A Sharpton Reverend. They are the proorest of examples of Christians.

  • Rjipson

Exactly. Something good. We need that in the days.

We are in a highly liberal county and sometimes we feel surrounded. These pictures reafirm that we are not alone in our beliefs

My understanding of the million man march was that it was no where near a million. How about posting a picture for a comparison. This should be good way to prove a point that politics play in estimates.

  • Wildbill

Did you see the mess after the Obama crowning ceremony. No mess after this meeting. Tax payers did not have to foot the bill to clean up after Glenn.

  • Wildbill

Where are the pictures of the Sharpton march? Usually the Mocha media try to make 50 seem like wow, look at all these people.

  • Wildbill

Mocha is making no sense. Figures have been posted in these reply’s that show the mall to be over a mile long. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Mall#Dimensions He has been shown the truth and yet he comes up a figure that is totally outrageous. He is therefor asking for the garbage he is getting. This appears to be the tactic of the far left (out). Then they just try to ignore and marginalize anyone who comes against their ridiculous position. And then they cry racism or some other elitist brain dead plank. Were catching on and the rally should place the far out left on notice that the numbers are increasing who understand the far out left. People do not like to be marginalized. By taking the idiot position that is being presented here by the far left Mocha people who can think should realize that anyone in such a state is part of the problem and not part of the solution. Go Glenn.

Sharpton , Hackson, Write, are christian s in name only. At the judgment seat Jesus will say “I never knew you”

What does it matter to the libs how many people were there? Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Rahm Emanual could not get this many people together if they served a free lunch and advertised for a year. Wait they already do that, and just say vote for us and we will keep it coming.

Geez, whatever you do don’t let facts get in the way.

  • Acuman

Has anyone asked how many showed for the “I have a dream” march last year, or if there was on in the past 10 years?
They should thank Beck for stimulating attendance so that Sharpton could get people to show up to hear his vile racist remarks.

  • Awesome event

  • theeck12

    This is absolutely remarkable!!!

  • Let’s see – The Official Estimate was 500,000+; Some of the Local liberals just can’t seem to believe that many people would attend a “Glen Beck Rally”, let alone a political function. I’ve seen a few “overheads”, and I tend to believe the old rules about “How Far the Crowd Goes” – This one goes beyond the the end of the Reflecting Pool, extending 60+ yards in one direction away from the pool and 30 yards away in the other… I seem to recall the capacity of Constantinople’s Hippodrome held somewhere around 100,000-150,000, Based on that, and on the observations and reports of the sizes of other crowds, I’d say somewhere around 225,000-250,000 people attended the Restoring Honor Rally. This is esp. impressive, when one considers that the “Counterdemonstation” attracted only 25,000-30,000 demonstrators, in spite of the fact that Union, State and Federal employees were “encouraged” to attend the “Counterdemonstration”.

    To Nick_crumpet
I have been reading the replys until my eyes are burning, waiting for someone to say exactly what you said in your comment!!!! Thank you so much for bringing it to everyone’s attention about how important it was and how much money was raised for a worthy cause!! It seems those people who are arguing about how many people were there lost all prespective as to what “Restoring Honor” means. How petty of them to be measuring the stadium in Michigan to compare with the reflecting pool and on and on ad nauseum…..How about all the wonderful guests and their messages and the fact that it was NOT political. All those religious leaders joining hands on stage?? That impressed me, not how much was the body count!! Or MLK’s own niece, standing tall and proud and had a wonderful message to give, not just to black people, but, to PEOPLE…WE THE PEOPLE…….
I wonder if Obama and all the so-called Americans, that are on his side really thought that WE THE PEOPLE would just go quietly into the night, never to be heard from again?? If I were able, I would have been in D.C. last Sat. and I know others that would have been also.
How come, out of the 300,000,000 Americans here, that there is only one Glenn Beck?? There are plenty of conservatives on T.V.,in print, on radio, etc.,but only one to do what Glenn did??? Well, at least there was one……
    God Bless America!

As I stood there, feeling so lucky to be part of the event, I spoke with a number of folks like yourself who wished they were there as well. It woud’ve been cool if someone had given a shout out to all of you who could be there in spirit only (or maybe they did and I didn’t hear it). Anyway, we felt your presence… and that of the MILLIONS of our brethren who were watching or just wishing they were with us but couldn’t be.

I have to admit being caught up in the # counting game myself. I suppose all of us who came were there, in part, to hear and BE heard – and yes – to be COUNTED. Indeed, it was the message and those who were honored that mattered most, but as one who was there to be seen and heard as “the people”, it was infuriating to hear such scant estimates of such an enormous crowd. Does anyone have any idea the amount of time, effort, money, etc. each person expended, just to be there? Does anyone even realize that almost every hotel/motel within the DC Metro area was FULL that weekend?

  • Whamman

Reading your post brought tears to my eyes. After all, the issue is not Republican or Democrat. It is like you so eloquently said…for whatever reason, we have a regime hell bent on the destruction of our way of life…these imposters have essentially hijacked the Democrat party. I am deeply moved by one who has seen through the smoke and mirrors to see the truth…the truth shall set you free!!! Thank you for a wonderful post.

  • Lynda

really, is the size of the crowd really all that important? What a waste of time and text disgusing this.

    • Jonie

Your envy is showing…if the crowd had been small the opposition would have thought it important enough to scream it to the housetops.

  • Measuring with Google Earth’s ruler, I put the south side at from 350 to 650 feet wide, the north at 250. Those are ball-park estimates, of course.

But, Moretap, I think you goofed on that 5 square feet. That’s slightly more than 2 feet square. We’re talking shoulder to shoulder, back to stomach, here. Packed like sardines. Without telephoto lens effects to help. Didn’t you mean 5 feet square? If so, divide your estimate by 4.

I ran the numbers similarly in my first go at crowd estimates. Kinda fun to do and surprised me. My instinct going in was to multiply the media’s number by the usual media fudge factor of 5. Turns out, Mocha did his homework.

Glenn Blecccckkk is a farking NAZI and his followers are brown-shirts.
God help us all if these fools don’t Darwin themselves out of existence soon.
These animals would bring back concentration camps and caucasian testing in a heartbeat.

What a joke. You all spew your hate for Obama and his “radical” ways. His policies focus on the average American not the greedy corporations that Bush favored. All of you who make less than $200,000.00 a year are just hurting yourself by supporting people like Beck and Palin (who both make well over a million dollars a year). Obama is a good, honest man. He has not raised the deficit. Bush and the Republicans did that for America. In addition, if you want to be like other radical religious countries that give no personal rights to its citizens than go ahead and keep on believing that Religion should run our country. And if you favor corporations over the individual American than you go ahead and support people like Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, Sarah Palin and all the other corporate loving celebrities. Because that is all those three are, celebrities and laughing all the way to the bank with your money.

  • The beauty is that Glenn Beck, the loonie fearmonger, had the freedom to hold his rally, AND Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert have the freedom to hold theirs – which I am watching right now and which has, without question, a MUCH larger crowd. Packed in without a speck of ground showing between people, as far as the eye can see. With all its problems, we are the luckiest citizens of the greatest country in the world, and when we start insisting that our politicians STOP taking money from corporations and REALLY represent the PEOPLE, we’ll get back on track. May we all remember where we are!!!

    • Glenn Beck is a ray of hope among a cadre of liberal media empires colluding against the sheep to keep them uninformed.

      • I think “pawn” is probably appropriate. There are no liberal media empires. I only wish. Sadly, nothing could be further from the truth.

        • Please. Your immediate personal attack shows your a: Liberalism and b:the weakness of your argument.

No liberal media empires? Uh, OK.

Might want to talk to Ted Turner or George Soros about that.

  • Rachel

There actually looks like bear spots to stand and breath. I am jealous at the rally to restore sanity there was NO bare spots to stand, because it was so packed.

    • Anonymous

It only APPEARED packed because of the camera angles…compare overhead shots of the Beck rally and the Rally to Restore Mockery/Snark..if you can even find one of the RtSM/S.
