The president has just gone full Trump this morning on the new Graham-Cassidy bill, proclaiming his 100% support for it in a mini-tweet storm this morning:
I hope Republican Senators will vote for Graham-Cassidy and fulfill their promise to Repeal & Replace ObamaCare. Money direct to States!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 20, 2017
And of course he also attacked Rand Paul for not supporting the new healthcare bill:
Rand Paul is a friend of mine but he is such a negative force when it comes to fixing healthcare. Graham-Cassidy Bill is GREAT! Ends Ocare!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 20, 2017
Does Trump really think he’s going to convince Rand to support the bill by attacking him on Twitter? I think he’s far too principled for that to work on him. And he’s not necessarily wrong about the Graham-Cassidy bill either. It’s not repeal at all.
Trump promised full repeal during the election, yet he’s vigorously supported every Obamacare replacement bill this year and none of them truly repeal Obamacare.
This is what concerns me with the DACA bill. Trump will support anything Congress comes up with just so he can ‘win’.
