It’s being reported now by CNN that the Trump administration admits that their Obamacare replacement bill needs major changes or it won’t pass the House and Senate.
Of course Rand Paul has been a big part of that and today he hit Paul Ryan, accusing him of selling Trump a bill of goods on the Obamacare replacement:
Paul starts by saying:
I think Paul Ryan is selling [him a bill of goods, that he didn’t explain to the president that the grassroots doesn’t want what Paul Ryan is selling.
Then a reporter asks if this means that Trump doesn’t understand healthcare policy. Paul responded:
No not at all. I think that when you’re president that the leadership has a – the laws are written by Congress. So I think it’s very appropriate that the president goes to Congress and says ‘write this bill’. And then he gets the leadership coming back to him saying ‘Yeah we’re going to write it, and everybody loves it! This is what we campaigned on!’
We did not campaign on Paul Ryan’s plan!
He’s right, and it’s good to hear that more Republicans are backing away from it and the administration is finally considering big changes to the bill.
