A first year Social Studies teacher is being praised as a hero for rushing the shooter at the Marysville-Pilchuck High School attack, possibly causing him to shoot himself and save students’ lives.

Watch below:

From News.Com:

Witnesses say social studies teacher, Megan Silberberger, ran up to Fryberg and grabbed his arms while he was reloading his weapon. It’s thought her brave act of heroism may have prevented a more deadly rampage.

Erick Cervantes, one of the students in the cafeteria at the time of killings, told local TV station Kiro 7: “I believe she’s actually the real hero. She’s the one that intercepted him with the gun. He tried either reloading or tried aiming at her. She tried moving his hand away and he tried shooting and shot himself in the neck.”

Erick said that Ms Silberberger struggled with Fryberg for only a couple of seconds and then the gun went off, fatally injuring the gunman.

Here’s her statement via the district’s Twitter account:

God bless her for that act of selflessness.
