Rep. Allen West: Obama’s security agreement with Karzai is ‘a 1930s Chamberlain/Hitler moment’

Allen West doesn’t mince words, especially when it comes to national security. In a recent interview with Frank Gaffney, West disagreed that the ‘war on terror’ is over, as suggested by a senior State Department official, and thus argued that we can’t just say we are fighting the Taliban or Al Qaeda. He said we must recognize that we are fighting radical Islamic fundamentalism and totalitarianism:

We cannot focus this thing down so narrowly to say we are just fighting Al Qaeda or the Taliban or it’s just a war on terrorism which is just a tactic. You really have to understand that this is a fight against radical Islamic fundamentalism and actually totalistarianism. You have to look at that full spectrum of this…the civilizational type of jihad, the infiltration of Sharia into Western civilization.

When asked about Obama’s recent 10 year security agreement with Karzai, West had some tough words for our Commander-in-Chief:

I look at what happened between President Obama and President Karzai as a 1930s Chamberlain/Hitler moment. There is not going to be peace in our time and when the president makes his speech and talks about negotiating with the Taliban, well as we said, less than 90 minutes after his departure, he got the response from the Taliban as far as these negotiations.

He also has a few things to say about Obama’s handling of the Bin Laden raid on the anniversary, but you’ll have to listen for that. I will tell you that in short, West said that “leaders take responsibility, they don’t take credit”.
