REPORT: State Dept. blocking lawyers from representing Benghazi whistleblowers

WMAL interviewed former US Attorney Joe DiGenova this morning and he revealed that the State Department is actively blocking lawyers from representing the Benghazi whistleblowers by denying them access to classified information, something they must have at a minimum to be able to discuss the case with their clients. He specifically cited Victoria Toensing as one of the lawyers being denied access to classified information, despite the fact that she has top-secret clearance.

Listen to the clip below as he explains how this will end up in a ‘Constitutional showdown’ in which the Obama administration will eventually lose:

They DO have a right to “discovery”.  Period.

    • njmom

metalchick007 No doubt a judge will tell them the same.

      • Orangeone

njmom metalchick007 And Barky Boy and Holder will ignore that court order as they have done with the drilling, the NLRB and others.

        • metalchick007

Orangeone njmom metalchick007  What is even more curious is that the Lawyer of one just acquired a ‘top secret clearance’.  Will be interesting to see how this plays out.  This Administration is so corrupt, nothing surprises me anymore.  and that statement scares the crap out of me!

        • Orangeone

metalchick007 Orangeone njmom Seriously, top secret clearance?  So the attorney can leak more intel to the terrorists?

  • 1tootall

Obama is the classic prevent defense example.  He does his anti- America, anti-Constitutional attacks, and then hides in the court.  He knows it takes forever to work cases through the court logs…and then when the rule against him, he shrugs his shoulders and walks away, never to bow to anything or anyone except foreign leaders….  He knows exactly what he is doing.  He has this cover-up things down pat.  Our side hasn’t a clue.  We need a U.S. Grant and Tecumseh Sherman to come and wipe these guys out, legally.  I’m not sure we have anyone like that in the wings.  Cruz is the closest.

    • badbadlibs

1tootall Well said! “He knows exactly what he is doing”…would that the rest of America understood that truth, we may stand a chance.

      • Orangeone

badbadlibs 1tootall People are listening to Ted Cruz, they are awakening.  They are also listening to Mike Lee.  Jason Chaffetz has also been outspoken, was in Libya.  Too bad McAmnesty is focused on rewarding illegals and not the 4 murdered in Benghazi.

    • lyrical

1tootall   TREY GOWDY is even better than Cruz – check out his youtube videos on Benghazi and Fast ‘n Furious.

  • TwinMs_OneE

Now is the time for a few lawmakers to put on their big boy pants and do what is right.

  • Well this just proves they have nothing to hide.  I’m sure relieved.

  • BetseyRoss

There are other lawyers.  Start a legal defense fund.  We want to know the truth(although we pretty much already do)

  • tshtsh

Yet, the Boston Marathon creature probably has a lawyer already.

    • metalchick007

tshtsh actually, I heard there were three present.  The need for three?  it’s astounding the amount of rights this piece of scum has because our Government failed to do their job and gave this terrorist citizenship.

      • Orangeone

metalchick007 tshtsh I think the “citizenship” was part of the overall plan.  Notice it was done on the Benghazi murder night.

      • tshtsh

metalchick007 tshtsh The governments give way to much concern for criminal rights than victims rights thereby victimizing via government.

    • Orangeone

tshtsh He has a HUGE legal defense team paid for by the taxpayers.

  • strangernfiction

For the regime to lose, either the GOP or the media have to want them to lose. They won’t lose.

    • deTocqueville1

      strangernfiction Agreed.

    • njmom

strangernfiction Not this time. Remember what Cruz said. I for one will not let go of Benghazi.

  • njmom

If the Dems in Congress were smart, which they are not, they would lean on the WH and State to allow these people to testify because all they are doing is delaying the inevitible and this will continue into election season next year.
Did I hear Boehner changed his mind? Is this a light at the end of the tunnel or just a flicker of a candle which will be extinguished? Okay, all you squishies now is the time to stand with and for we the people because if you don’t on this issue consider the Republican party dead. Who wants to make a donation to the tombstone which reads:
HERE LIES THE ONCE GREAT PARTY OF REAGAN AND LINCOLN WHICH GAVE UP ITS PRINCIPLES AND DIED IN SHAME STINKIN’!

njmom With Bonehead it is more likely the train but he thinks its a candle.

    • Orangeone

njmom If this goes to SCOTUS, it will be delayed past the 2014 elections at which time the House will go to the Dems and Benghazi will be buried forever.

      • badbadlibs

Orangeone njmom That’s why 1foottall’s post is spot on. Ovomit knows exactly what he is doing…..he’s ugly as sin, mean as a snake, hateful as satan…but, he’s smart in the ways of evil.

        • njmom

badbadlibs Orangeone njmom Yes, but evil is stupid. Remember, what God did. Satan thought he had the Lord when Jesus was in the pit. Then He raised up Jesus and the Lord whooped his butt once and for all. No matter how smart Obama thinks he is God is smarter and a whole lot more powerful. I’m trusting the Lord.

      • njmom

Orangeone njmom Won’t have to go to Supremes. The lawyers are entitled to discovery. Remember Satan is a loser.

        • Orangeone

njmom Orangeone Yes they are entitled to discovery but the gov’t will appeal and appeal and do so on Constitutional grounds which goes to SCOTUS.

Can’t wait for that conservative television cable new show than can highlight the truth.
Until then, we need to circulate this video and information contained in it to all our email lists.  Some how, some way we need to start getting the truth out to the American citizens en masse.
I think the majority of them are not interested; they are too involved in their own lives which are chock full of work and family commitments.  Many of the lefties are beyond help, however, there are millions who really know nothing about Benghazi, Fast and Furious, etc.  We have to reach them.

    • deTocqueville1

Amjean Exactly. The new media at work.

    • Amjean
      Am on it! 🙂

  • The Sentinel

Lol! This regime is doing EVERYTHING that they can to block the TRUTH!!!
I hope this opens up and that heads roll. Obama is a monster. Holder is a criminal. Napolitano is a phoney. Hillary should be in jail. I can go on.
America DESERVES justice on this. This is the most blatant conspiracy I’ve ever seen. Where’s the media?

    • badbadlibs

The Sentinel  Where’s the media? ha ha ha….oh, you were serious!

      • LoJoFo

badbadlibs The Sentinel  They’re at the Correspondents’ Dinner.

  • NYGino

I strongly object to the term “whistle blowers” and it’s derogatory connotations as applied to those who were there and know the truth.

  • Barney59

Wow, this is getting very interesting.

  • The Truth will set US free! Unchain America and throw off the yoke of Socialism!

  • Obama, Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and Holder are doing all they can to stop this investigation by Congress. They will lose. You can’t cover up something this big forever. And Obama and Clinton are both going down over this.

    • badbadlibs

      Libertyship46 From your keyboard………….

    • Libertyship46
All true!  And Republicans that are “going along to get along” instead of standing up and demanding the truth are complicit in the treachery.

      • Smithers_2012

WolfieUSA Libertyship46 I fully agree with you!!!  Boehner is also stopping the Select Committee from going forward. He is covering for Obama.  He needs to be investigated too, at some point!

        • Smithers_2012 WolfieUSA Libertyship46
          Investigated and replaced as well.

I like your optomism Libertyship.  I hope you’re right.

    • Bac Si68

      Libertyship46 Dare to dream!

  • GOLD_CUP45

Benghazi goes beyond politics.  The truth needs to come out for the good of the country. It cannot be allowed to remain a cover-up and Hillary Clinton cannot be allowed to run for president.  She must pay for what she did and Obama must be impeached for allowing those brave Seals to be slaughtered and covering it up.

    • jazzee

      GOLD_CUP45 amen

  • Valin

It’s not the crime….it’s the coverup.

This did not have to happen.

    • Orangeone

Valin In this case it is both.  Murder is a crime w/o statute of limitations. Time for the truth.

  • Laurel A

Stall…stall….stall…..stall…is the name of the game.

  • mike3e4r7

Hey Brian Williams, Scott Pelley, Diane Sawyer, Wolf Blitzer, Steve Croft over there at 60 minutes – this sounds like a cover up!  That would make a great story!  Oh that’s right, you guys are propogandists, not journalists.  Never mind.

  • RocklinConservative

    I CAN”T WAIT !!!!

  • TracyMitchell

The current administration was perfectly willing to sacrifice all of those people to keep their secrets. If it wasn’t for the actions of 2 brave Navy Seals, all 30+ of those people would be dead right now and there wouldn’t be any witnesses to talk to. Now they will do everything they can to keep them from talking to save their own collective butts. This is watergate TIMES 1000!

    • Orangeone

TracyMitchell They can come forward to Congress without attorneys and they should have prior to the election.  I understand being afraid of losing a job but people died.

      • TracyMitchell

Orangeone TracyMitchell I think they are more worried about losing their lives. Remember the Admiral that “committed suicide” on the park bench during the Clinton reign?

        • Orangeone

TracyMitchell Orangeone Their lives are at further risk but not coming forward. Right now, no one knows who or where they are, making it much easier for them to “disappear”.  I’d like to know why they need attorneys unless they did something illegal.

        • TracyMitchell

Orangeone TracyMitchell If they did, I can certainly see why the Messiah-In-Chief would want that information hidden. Treason can be a trifle hard to defend against.

        • bongobear

Orangeone TracyMitchell Anyone who would appear before congress without an attorney in a case of this import would be foolish.  I suspect the government would do their level best to ruin their lives.

        • lyrical

TracyMitchell Orangeone   Remember how many military leaders were removed DURING and after Benghazi?

        • Orangeone

          TracyMitchell Orangeone Great point!

        • Orangeone

bongobear Orangeone TracyMitchell My point is that they don’t need the gov’t to pay for those attorneys.  They can hire their own and sue the gov’t under the federal whistleblower statutes.

        • Orangeone

lyrical TracyMitchell Orangeone Always left unanswered questions with me.  If they are running from Barky’s admin, how would they ever have protected the US from terrorists?

    • jazzee

      TracyMitchell excellent

    • lyrical

      TracyMitchell   You are exactly right!

  • lawngreen

Even now, as tight a grip as the obama regime has on us, they are still afraid of the truth. Clear indication of guilt.

  • pmb88

If the administration thought that they did nothing wrong then they should air everything out, but here they are trying to stop the air from escaping.  This is the most transparent administration I have ever seen. /sarc
Does any one know how many whistleblowers there are?

  • temi227

This is the kind of thing that makes one go.. HMMMMM?!!

  • lawngreen

Scoop, something strange happened – when I clicked my RS bookmark just a couple of minutes ago, instead of going to RS, as it has many times before, I got this dialog box:
    _____________________________

    You have chosen to open:
(Note that there is no name here of what I have chosen to open)
      which is a: application/x-httpd-php (395 bytes)

What should Firefox do with this file?
    (“open with” or “save” options)

I googled RS and tried to open from the homepage there and got the same dialog box. I finally clicked on this topic under the home page link, and got here. Is someone hacking or hijacking RS?

  • lawngreen

I tried clicking on the link that “activated” in that dialog box and got to here:
