According to reporter Laura Rozen, Trump asked Deputy National Security Advisor KT Macfarland who she wanted to be her new boss, Mike Flynn’s replacement.

She was apparently non-negotiable, and Trump wanted her to stay as Deputy NSA. The expectation is that she will serve 2 years on the NSC 3/

Quite coincidentally, or not, Ted Cruz advocated for Bolton for the position earlier today.
And Fox News is claiming they have confirmed that Bolton is indeed being considered:
