Revealed: Former Navy SEAL among the four murdered in Libya

This is even more infuriating because Obama’s getting a freaking pass by the media over this:

FOX NEWS – Glen Doherty, a former Navy SEAL from Massachusetts, was one of the victims of the deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, a family friend confirmed to Fox News.

Doherty is the latest victim to be identified. The U.S. government earlier confirmed that U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and Sean Smith, a foreign service information management officer, died in the attack.

The name of the fourth American who died in the attack has not been disclosed.

The Boston Globe first reported that Doherty was among the victims. His sister told the Globe that Doherty, 42, was working for a private company providing security at the time.

A former ski instructor in Utah, Doherty reportedly trained as a sniper and medical officer after joining the Navy SEALs. He served for seven years before leaving to work at the private security firm.

Based on an account of the Benghazi attack provided by senior administration officials, Doherty was one of two people who died while trying to take cover from gunfire in the annex near the main U.S. consulate building. At least three others were wounded in the attack.

The chairman is either very brave or very stupid. Of all groups of people on the planet there are two that would give me pause to cross. One group go by the initials USMC and the other are the Navy SEALs.

Mike, Your post reminds me of my mom.

My Mom was a Marine Corporal in WW2,. As you know they were a special arm of the Marines started in 1942 called , United States Marine Corps Women’s Reserve (USMCWR). here’s the wiki,'s_Reserve

Anyway I never met a women more strong and more compassionate than my mother. Maybe it was her upbringing, she was orphaned at the age of 12 after her mom died in a kitchen fire, which she saw. She raised 7 kids as a stay at home mom, while my dad, a WW2 veteren himself (USN CPO) worked two jobs, some times three, to put food on the table. She was a rock!

She was truly the mother hen type that would cradle her chicks under her wings to keep them safe from harm. On the one hand she was as compassionate as any women I’ve ever met and on the other hand you did not want to say anything against her children, because look out! I can count on one hand how many times I saw her cry, one was at her brother’s funeral and the other was at my dad’s funeral.

The day after my Dad passed away, my sisters went together to tell my mom the bad news. At the time she was blind and in a retirement home. After my sisters told my mom the news, she did not cry. In fact from the time before the funeral and after she was an amazing display of strength for my famnily, who broke down after my dad’s passing (he was a rock too). It wasn’t till my dad’s funeral that I saw my mom’s strength in spades. Through the whole service my sisters were holder her hand and bawling – we were all bawling, except my mom. The only time she cried at the funeral was when the honor quard played taps. Becasue of here history in the Mrines, she was able to connect the meaning of taps to my dad’s passing and that made her cry.

My mom passed on a year after my dad died. And even on her death bed she was a pillar of strength. She died peacefully in her sleep, I was there, and no doubt she woke up to see the face of her Savior Jesus Christ. And I have no doubt that the next face she saw was my dad waiting to greet her.

I think my mom got here strength and compassion from two places, The Marines and God. Semper Fi!

      • MiketheMarine

Damn, that chocked me up. Thank you for sharing. I love our Women Marines though I would never call one of them that to their face. I would call them Marine. The more American Troops you meet the more you see that they tend to have the biggest hearts of anyone you will ever meet.

      • Taps and Amazing Grace always makes me cry. God Bless you and your family.

      • Loved the story. Thank you for sharing.

    • For sure. Not a matter for debate.

  • marketcomp

Our problems are just so much bigger than those communist teachers marching in Chicago. I don’t care if that never work again what their are doing is so irrelevant compared to those who have paid for our freedoms with their lives. I agree with Allen West, bring all of the ambassadors home from the middle-east and wait until Romney is President to re-evaluate. God Bless Mr. Doherty’s family!

    • MiketheMarine

If you were an Ambassador, would you wait for the wicked witch of the south to give you permission or would take a little initiative and head home now?

      • marketcomp

Get the hick out of dodge and take the consequences later. These people, Barack and Hilary, are so incompetent that I would have no confidence in thier leardeship. Hilary goes on the television this morning and apologizes again! Which is the same message that the White House walked back and tried to blame Romney for jumping the gun on! You know what they say about your first reaction to situation, the initial reaction is always the honest reaction and we all know that the inital statement from Eyght is what they really believe and how that really feel.

        • MiketheMarine

Me too. Either that or I would be in the back pocket of the Marine Corps Gunny running embassy protection. That is, if I were an Ambassador and not a Marine, myself.

    • What those communist teachers are teaching and have been teaching for over a century is direct link and input to our problems today including the indecisive weakness on display from this WH and administration.

Remember no man is an island and nothing ever singularly exists in a vacuum. There is always cause and effect.

      • marketcomp

Which Barack Obama is a product of! Communist teaching is wy I say that I don’t give a rat’s a** what happens to those socialist teachers or the entire teaching system in Chicago I beleive that with an organization so infiltrated with socialist and communist policies and procedures needs to be torn down and then rebuilt into something more reflective of America. Now I know this hurts the children but this is also a chance for the parents to actually get invloved with the learning and teaching of thier children and find other ares in Illinois or LEAVE the city or State.

        • But does it really hurt the children? I would say no. Remember we didn’t have organized education for over a century in this country. Decline can be directly measured to organized education. Current education system is where labor meets education and unites. It is the brain child of Mao and what he used to bring in communism after decades of getting his backside tanned. What is being ‘educated’ into our children is entitlement and a bad attitude. Somehow when Franklin started University of Penn I don’t think that is what he envisioned. You are correct about Obama. Notice him and his hierarchy doing the mad tango to make sure they don’t end up in the useful idiot pile like Hollywood.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the family of this brave young man.

What sickens me more and makes this young man’s death so senseless is reading this:

REPORTS: No Live Ammo for Marines

    • tvlgds

This has been going on for DECADES. My ex BF got out in the EIGHTIES after the attack on the Marine barracks, because of exactly this! Even when being fired upon, they had to get “permission” to protect their own lives, and they had ONE bullet!

      • Patriot077

They did this in Viet Nam also. My husband was shore based US Navy at Camrahn Bay (sp?) in the late 60’s and when patrolling the perimeter they carried rifles – with no ammo.

We didn’t meet until a few years later so I don’t recall further details than that.

  • Dukehoopsfan

And the obama ministry of truth remains in full cover up mode. Disgraceful!

Fair winds and following seas to Mr. Doherty.

  • donmoffet

To survive seven years as a SEAL and then die in a sewer like Bhengazi.

        Semper Fi.

        • MiketheMarine

Neither was mine. I understood your comment was a show of respect and I was riding your coattails in a show of solidarity. And now, to find our you are a Marine makes perfect sense.

          Semper Fidelis, Brother.

        • Thank you for your service donmoffet. God Bless you sir.

One of my intellectual backers. Thank you, and I liked your nuclear reacted duck better.

          • I had to get a different duck… the glowing one kind’a soured on me when the green lantern came out of the closet. I need to find some more ducks.

            (((())))s myMarine.

            • MiketheMarine

Did you know that Daffy Duck has a personnel jacket at Marine Corps headquarters? Daffy was used as a recruitment tool prior to WWII and is considered a US Marine. I don’t know Daffy’s current rank but you should do some googling to see if you can find Daffy in uniform. You have my permission to show Daffy in uniform and if anyone gives you an hard time, refer them to me.

              • Oh man, I knew I loved daffy for another reason other than the sarcasm! Thanks myMarine. I’m right on it sir! You made this old tired duck smile just now. Thank you.

                • MiketheMarine

I think I’m wrong about that. It is Bugs Bunny who has the Personnel jacket. Sorry, I knew it was one of those fellas. I was hunting for it and discovered my error. That sucks.

                • Yeah, I was hunting too. I saw the bugs bunny ones. I did see that the Air Force has some daffy. Thanks anyway myMarine. I did change back to my batduck though- do you like? 😉

                • MiketheMarine

I do. I’ve always been partial to Batman. But a batduck? That is one BAD critter.

America, whether out of misplaced intention, complacence, ignorance, or naivety we have done a great disservice to those who serve to protect us.

It is our mess, and our responsibility to correct. This man Hussein, his Congress, and the subversives who prop him up must be purged.

  • 911Infidel

Once again,Obama and Hillary show their ameteur standing in the world. Since when do we send diplomats to a place w/o security? Oops forgot tweedle dee and tweedle dumb are in charge. Mistakes get people killed. This mistake was an abdication of common sense. Hillary and Obama should be held accountable. But they won’t. The propaganda ministry at the alphabet networks will cover their a$$es.

So much for “smart power”. Looks like dumba$$ power to me.

  • NJK

Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and this slime infested media are responsible for this. The slime in this media pushed this degenerate on this country. All you have to do is see the documentary 2016, and all of the puzzle peices fit together.

Does anyone know if there are any laws on the books, that can be enforced to hold this media accountable for the damage they’ve done, when we take our rightful ownership of our government back? When we start enforcing the Constitution again? They’ve got to either act appropriately within our laws, stop hurting our country or pay a price.

Would what they’re doing fall under anti-American laws of any kind? Treason? They have got to be stopped. I’m sick and tired of them hurting us, and future generations this way. They’ve got to be punished in some way.

    • carmtom13

Thank you, you said it all. BHO and his administration own this and the BS media can’t change the facts no matter how hard they try.

  • I am sick to death of this idiot administration that substitutes self loathing for humility and yet doesn’t understand real and true humility. I am sick to death of the Middle East. We should pull out and make them a dust mote. Enough already! Enough of centuries of appeasing animals who do not understand appeasement and only see it as weakness. Show them force, that is what they want, that is what they understand. No more politicians that make America the useful idiots of the Middle East.

    Sorry, had to rant.

    • MiketheMarine

Laurel, you are an extremely quick study. I like it.

      • Quick study? No I wouldn’t say that. I would say years of education and experience, especially experience actually living in the ME. I’m not a Ron Paul fan by any measure but I do agree with him that we need to openly declare war and go in kick their a**. *Enough of these kinder gentler wars that do no good but far more in harm, and cost us a fortune which falls into the harm category as well. It’s been happening since Korea and we can thank the liberal self loathers and their blatant touchy feely stupidity that has been substituted for real thinking. Cries of imperialism and colonialism with no basis in reality or even fact have warped the critical judgment and thinking skills of generations of Americans and the end result is we get candy assed presidents in office with his clueless minions helping him. The sheer fact they don’t even understand why Libya is sodomizing and killing ambassadors is beyond belief. Someone in the Obama administration needs to show me anywhere in the history of the ME they haven’t rewarded people with a knife in the back. It is bred into their culture and it stems from their religion. What part of infidel does this administration and libtards in general do not understand? I’m ranting again…

*Openly declaring war would also keep low life politicians from politicizing the any wars and using the blood sacrifice of the military as a political ploy and prop.

        • MiketheMarine

          Excellent. Much respect.

  • NJK

Please see 2016 if you haven’t. Obama feels no sympathy for any soldier who dies. He believes in doing it to diminish America. I’m fed up with so called General’s like Dempsey, the idiot, falling in line with this. General Dempsey needs to be removed from the military. He’s doing as much damage as this impostor president.

  • This is infuriating. He outsourced embassy protection from the marines to a contractor!

  • indthinker

To the Doherty family and friends, I am truly grief-stricken for your loss and I am most ashamed of our current administration. I pray you find comfort.

  • Sober_Thinking

God has a special place for heroes like this and the other victims of this lawless and barbaric attack.

And he has a really special place for the animals that conducted this atrocity. If they can’t stand the heat, stay out of the embassy.

And I don’t mean to sound cavalier about all of this. The bastards that did this should and will suffer for their sins. I pray they turn to Jesus before the end but I’m not holding my breath.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

My heart and prayers go out to the family of this great hero. I heard on the news today that he had escaped the building, but went back in to get the other person when he found out he was still inside. I’m not surprised at this news. Once a warrior, always a warrior with honor, bravery and responsibility always at the top of their list, with little regard for their own safety.

Rest in peace, soldier. May God accept you into His kingdom, as I know He has, and you earned it.

    • WordsFailMe

I am praying that they receive justice

      • Justice by 8×6 or 5.56×45…it makes no diff to me.

  • I am having a hard time lately keeping my eyes dry. I can’t even begin to imagine how military families are getting through these days with such a dispicable so called commander. I can’t imagine our boys and girls, what they do to keep us safe when our own government treats them like crap and puts them in harm’s way with no way to defend themselves and others.

I’m having to rely on my source of strength these days, so pardon all the Bible verses. The tears I’ve cried don’t compare to those these families must shed…

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

    • Conservative_Hippie

I look forward to that day AbC!

Troops don’t fight and die for politics. We do it for our country and for each other. When you boil it down to the nuts and bolts, every troop is really fighting for the man or woman standing right next to them.

      • I know they do, and that’s even more so why they are incredible… but it still sucks. I am more grateful though every time I think about them all- past and present, and present company included.

        • MiketheMarine

I know. Now knock it off. That is about the third time I’ve got misty, today.

          Thank you

      • Army_Pilot1967

Mike, you’re absolutely correct. During my one trip in harm’s way (Vietnam, ’68-’69) I didn’t think about the people back home, other than my immediate family, and I certainly didn’t worry about the politics of the situation since there was zip I could do about that. I was concerned with the soldiers in my unit, as well as other American and allied soldiers. It was us against the enemy…no one else had any impact on what we did or how we felt at the time.

        Semper Fi……

  • Army_Pilot1967

Some of the gomers in Libya ought to pay in blood for the deaths of four Americans. America’s leaders ought to make it known through direct action that any attack on our embassies and American citizens is the same as an attack on mainland USA and someone is going to pay in blood. Our leaders ought to do it, but we know that isn’t going to happen. I’ll pray for the slain Americans and their families, and thank them for their service to our country. There was a time when serving in an embassy didn’t mean the personnel were going to face hostile crowds without any security element to prevent their murders.

    • MiketheMarine

F-111’s like we did back in the day.

There are many of us here who aren’t fans of Romney and I had strong reservations about voting for him. I even thought about writing in my candidate’s (Newt Gingrich) name on my ballot, but I won’t do that. There are no words that can describe the indignation I have for this POS president and those barbaric subhumans.

When I cast my vote for Romney, I am going to do it thinking of the four embassy workers who were savagely killed, the troops who paid with their lives…and for the preservation of America.

The most dangerous threat to our country sits in the oval office. I am going to vote for Romney to get rid of that treasonous bastard disguised as an American president. Obama makes Jimmy Carter look like a patriot.

    • DebbyX

Glad you changed your mind about that write in. We all have to stick together now.

It’s so unfortunate that it took a horrific event such as this to get your to support Romney, May God bless the families of these four men.

      • chatterbox365

There are some very valid reasons why conservatives like me had/have reservations about Romney, but now is not the time to debate those issues. Let’s just hope and pray that Romney does his part to defeat Obama. The base/tea party folks are fired up and angry and Romney needs to be out there hammering Obama about it.

  • RIP Mr. Doherty. I salute you!

  • This may be off-topic, but I don’t know. It has been reported and I don’t know if it has been confirmed yet, but Ambassador Stevens was not only murdered, he was raped as well. Isn’t it odd to anybody here that some of those or at least one of those who participated in the unrest in Libya, unrest that was ginned up by a particular film that portrays Muhammad as a rapist and a murderer, did the very things that offended them? Unless they were only offended by the fact that Muhammad was the rapist and murderer, but if you’re not their holy prophet doing the raping and murder, it’s A-OK. I may have answered my own question.

  • bobemakk

I pray for all the families of these fallen patriots. Stop sending aid to these countries, in reality they hate US.
