Rick Perry discusses illegal immigration

I wanted to separate out this portion of the Q&A from tonight’s speech in Waterloo, IA. Perry was asked a question on illegal immigration, and since that seems to be a weak spot I was interested to hear his answer:

I think Perry is great on the border, which is the most important part of dealing with illegal immigration at this point. However I wanted to know what his ideas are on dealing with the current illegal population after we solve the problem of securing the border. But, he never got around to addressing that and it makes me wonder if he will use ‘securing the border’ as a dodge on the deeper questions of illegal immigration such as e-verify, amnesty, etc. I agree securing the border must happen first, but then what?
