Tonight Rick Santorum spoke at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition and then answered a few questions from a panel. I’ve split the Speech from the Q&A and both are below.

Many thanks R/S for making these videos available to us!

This is the same guy who supported that traitor Arlen Spector . No thanks .

    • Anonymous

Yes when Spector was a Republican. Not after that. if that is the only strike against him please. that and voting for the patriot act. Rick Santorum is a true Conservative as close as one can get. He did not support Spector when he flipped or right before he flipped.

      • http://twitter.com/LisaGraas Lisa Graas

We got two Supreme Court justices in exchange for that endorsement: Alito and Roberts. I’ll trade ten Senators for one Justice any day of the week….and we got two.

Also, when the left found out about Specter’s deal with Santorum re: voting for conservative justices, Specter lost his bid for re-election. So…it was a win/win.

    • Anonymous

Yes, that is the guy. But, really its one of his few blemishes. Research his record in Congress and you will see he is a stalwart conservative.

You remind me of that verse:

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
      Luke 6:41

Doesn’t the Bible ask you to love your neighbor?

    • Anonymous

You do Mr. Cain no favors with this garbage.

    • http://twitter.com/LisaGraas Lisa Graas

See above re: Specter, Alito, Roberts.

I’m not sure how you could possibly claim he is not gentle of heart if you actually bothered to watch the videos above.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Kat-Wells-Anderson/100001128516686 Kat Wells Anderson

You sound angry…is that of God? I guess it wasn’t God who turned the tables in the Temple? I met Santorum, he is filled with the Holy Spirit and one of the few with integrity. Most are “hirelings”, he is a shepherd.

    Where’s Ron Paul’s video?

  • http://www.kennethballard.com Kenneth

You know one thing I’m really getting tired of hearing is these candidates saying “My policy will create jobs”. No it won’t. Your policy won’t create any jobs at all.

How will your policy affect market demand in such a way that the companies feeling that demand will create jobs? Tell us that, Mr Santorum, Mr Cain, Ms Bachmann, Mr Perry and Mr Romney. Don’t tell us that your policy “will create jobs”. Show us how it will affect market demand, then I’ll believe you when you say the policy will create jobs. Otherwise it’s nothing but hot air and talking points.

    • Anonymous

Having the right policies will promote jobs–promote or create–symantics.

      • http://www.kennethballard.com Kenneth

Semantics? Not according to a lot of Americans.

The only thing the people are hearing is “create”. And that is why people are in the streets looking to the Federal and their State governments saying “where are the jobs you said would be created?”

When politicians make it clear that their policies are not what creates jobs, the people can become more focused on what truly does instead of turning their attention toward policy makers, who will then only make excuses.

Here we have campaigners saying they will create jobs, so if one of them gets elected, and jobs are not created as they said, what then? Likely just more excuses.

    • http://twitter.com/LisaGraas Lisa Graas

ZERO percent corporate tax rate for manufacturers, Santorum’s plan, “creates jobs” by getting government off the backs of the widget-makers. We need to be making widgets again. There’s always demand for “widgets”…so to speak. :-)

      • http://www.kennethballard.com Kenneth

But is it the policy that is creating jobs? Again this is what the people are hearing: “my policy will create jobs”. This is likely the thought process that runs through the heads of most people: we just need to get his policy in place and the jobs will come automatically. And again, not necessarily as there are a ton of other variables that must also be aligned properly for jobs to start springing forth.

It might sound like I’m arguing semantics, but I’m actually arguing language. It is very easy for a message to be misinterpreted because of poor word choice, something I’m sure we’ve all run into in the past.

Sen. Santorum is the ONLY candidate worthy of my support in 2012. He’s earned my vote. He’s the only candidate who came to Iowa in 2010 when we needed help mustering support to vote out three of the Iowa Supreme Court justices who gave us same-sex marriage. He’s served on the armed forces committee, he wrote legislation outlawing partial birth abortion, he authored the welfare reform act. He’s not Rick Perry – a governor who REQUIRED 13-year old girls be given a vaccine for an STD. He’s not Mitt Romney – a governor who approved of same-sex marriage, instituted RomneyCare and promised to be a bigger gay rights advocate than Ted Kennedy. He’s not Herman Cain – a man who says he’s against abortion, but he doesn’t think he should “enforce others to not get abortions” – a man who said he’d consider releasing hundreds of Gitmo detainees for one american solider – a man who supported TARP – a man whose former senior policy adviser was also a member of the Madison gay pride group – a man who worked for the federal reserve… Santorum isn’t Gingrich – who appeared in global warming commercials with nancy pelosi and said he cheated on his wife because at times he loved his country too much. He’s not Michele Bachmann – who celebrates a birthday on the day someone dies (Elvis), thanks “Dordt County voters” when she’s in Sioux County at Dordt College and mentions John Wayne, but the wrong one… And Santorum certainly isn’t Ron Paul……

  • Anonymous

Santorum is a good guy but just doesn’t have the skill sets the are required to meet the challenges we face.

The couch setting with Pelosi and divorce will be used against Newt…but…really, is that a reason to not vote for the person obviously most qualified? Newt has no legislative votes or comments that suggests he buys into the climate change hoax. Sometimes we marry the wrong person. So he made a mistake…he is human. No reason for not supporting him in my mind. He has obviously found the woman he was meant to marry and has been an ideal husband. Don’t let the media decide your candidate for you. Gingrich is no liberal.

    • Anonymous

Santorum is a good guy… yes! Santorum has what we need in a President: he stands up for his principles and he lives by those principles. Gingrich has the knowledge, wisdom, and speaking ability we need in a Vice President: he would not make the gaffs we hear from Biden all the time. Santorum/Gingrich would be a great ticket!

    • http://twitter.com/LisaGraas Lisa Graas

He was floor leader on the Welfare Reform Act that was the only time in American history that a federal entitlement was ended. He also led on the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act, the only federal abortion restriction ever to become law, got Democratic votes for it, and it withstood the test of the Supreme Court. He’s the “git ‘er done” candidate, so I’m not sure what you mean when you say he “doesn’t have the skill sets”. What “skill sets” are you referring to?

  • Anonymous

Thanks RS for putting up these videos as well as all the others you put up. Do you plan to put up Ron Pauls speech? I’m not pushing him but I would like to hear it.

  • deo heerai

This guy attacks everyone and only has one channel the family values channel which for all of their faults ALL the other candidates have . so why is he here again?

    • http://twitter.com/LisaGraas Lisa Graas

He’s attacked no one personally. He attacks ideas that aren’t conservative and there are plenty of them floating around in this race.

  • Anonymous

As Santorum’s former constituent, I can say that he is a good guy (even though he endorsed Specter over Toomey). He ran as a conservative in a blue, unionized state and won election statewide (twice). He lost in 06, mainly due to the anti- Bush, anti-war hysteria of the day. His opponent used daddy’s name ID to get elected as well.

He was a good Senator and a congressman from the Pittsburgh area. As a House freshman, he was one of the Gang of Seven to bring down the House post office scandal.

  • Anonymous

Santorum is a terrible speaker. Santorum comes across as insecure and arrogantly defensive, which is quite a feat. He’s almost like the skinny geek in high school running for class president who lashes out at the student body for seeing him as he is while defiantly begging them to vote for him anyway.

That story about bringing the dead baby home for his three other kids to see is sick. I’d heard about this before but I didn’t believe it. I figured it was typical liberal spin on his own family tragedy. What the hell were they thinking doing that? My god. That is just plain sick.

My dog Sam died in the back yard when my daughter was 6 and I went to great lengths to make sure she didn’t see his body. I can’t imagine the twisted mind that would force little kids to look at a dead baby. Unbelievable.

And spare me your comments about how wrong I am about that. Anyone who thinks that was the right thing to do is just as sick as the Santorums. Sick.

    • Anonymous

Jaynie you’re hyperventillating… go out and get some fresh air.

    • Anonymous

Jaynie59- Not everyone is as freaked out as you over viewing and grieving for a departed loved one. I have been involved in hospice settings. There is nothing freakish about a family who has held their departed baby (or any loved one who has passed away), and said prayers for their souls. You may be surprised to know that children, in a loving, kind, and compassionate setting handle the situation way better than you apparently would. Hopefully someone in your life will be “sick” enough to be there with you in your time of passing.

      • Anonymous

        You’re sick.

    • http://twitter.com/LisaGraas Lisa Graas

Ad hominem. Perhaps you disagree with what he says and it makes your ears hurt. The story about his son is not “sick”. Have you never heard of a “wake”? Christians treat the bodies of the dead with dignity because we believe in the resurrection. It is not “sick” to treat the body of a deceased child as a departed member of the family.

      • Anonymous

        You’re sick.

I love to hear him speak; it’s from the heart. Not snake oil smooth. Many of our great Presidents who weren’t required to be on TV would not make it now when everyone expects a stellar performance as if they were actors instead of statesmen.

Realize that any tax plan that cuts corporate tax to zero cannot be better than Cain’s 9% corporate tax, because by necessity a zero corporate tax system will have to include an equal or greater dividend or capital gains tax (figure it out).

Why not just tax it on the corporate level?

-the Saudis are the head of the islamist world, the head of the Islamic world
-Iran wants to show that they should be leading the Islamic world in an Islamist direction
-Iran targeted the Saudi Ambassador – they wanted “to show that they are not afraid of going after the Great Satan”
-Iran believes that Obama is too weak to respond
-he won’t have to courage to do what’s necessary to stop them
-if Iran gets nuclear capability, Iran won’t be afraid of being attacked because no nuclear power has ever been attacked
-he was opposed by Pres. Bush and by Secretary Rice

-he has dedicated his public career r to everything he has talked about
    -national security
    -economy
    -cutting taxes
-but the area he has fought on in the battle field
-this quote from Bill Maher explains
-“Rick Santorum is like the Japanese soldier on a remote island after WW2 who didn’t now that the war was over when it comes to abortion issue and marriage and homosexual marriage.”
-are those issues lost in America?
-no, “but we need to have a leader who understands, in their heart, and will go out and fight for those” issues
-“I’ve done that” in the House and Senate
-“I didn’t always do that, but when I came to the United States Senate I had something happen to me.”
-some of the candidates told how they came to Christ
-“Well, I went to the United States Senate and I found the Lord.” (applause)
-a Partial Birth Abortion bill came up in the Senate
    -he decided to step out
-on the floor of the Senate he fought the battle on overturning Pres. Clinton’s veto on the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act
    -fought in 1996, 1998, 2000
-but Supreme Court struck down the Nebraska statute
    -in 2001 Bush was elected
-we are an equal branch of government
-we don’t have to stand for this
-let’s pass a bill that says up front, Supreme Court you’re wrogn
    -that bill was passed
    -it was signed by GWBush
-it was appealed to the Supreme Court
-the Supreme Court reversed their decision
    -the bill was found Constitutional
-“I hear a lot of theory up here [by the other speakers], that’s practice.”
-he took on the Supreme Court “and we beat them”

THE STORY – his son lived for 2 hours

-next is “the story” of his son 2 hour old son and the reason some want a partial birth abortion
-a baby is somehow not perfect, so terminate late in pregnancy
-after sonogram for his unborn child he and his wife rejected an abortion
-baby boy born alive but too small to survive and died after 2 hours

-he couldn’t understand why the baby died
-he had committed himself “to the Lord”
-he was “doing the brave and heroic thing of standing up for life”
-“risking my political career in Pennsylvania”
    -“and this was my answer”
    -“you take my son”

THE BOOK – Letters To Gabriel

-Karen, his wife, wrote and kept writing
-her mom suggested she publish her letters and maybe help heal somebody
-the book is called “Letters To Gabriel”
    -25,000 copies published
    -every month someone
-“who was touched, whose life was saved, whose baby was delivered, or whose burden was lessened”
-he tells his children “if you can do for God and for life what your little brother did in two hours, you will be a great warrior for God”

    THE LAST PAGE

-a final story from Karen to her son on the last page of the book about the Senate debate
-Senator Feinstein had women who had the partial birth abortion were ask Senators to not support the bill
-Santorum is quoted on the Senate floor

-“… the Senator said in response, ‘The Senator says she hears the cries of women outside this chamber. We would be deafened by the cries of the children who are not here to cry because of this procedure’.”

-“The Washington Post describes what happened next. Republican Senator Rick Santorum turned to face the opposition. In a high, pleading voice cried out,
‘Where do we draw the line?
Some people have likened this procedure to an appendectomy.
That’s not an appendix’, he shouted, pointing to a drawing of a fetus.
‘That’s not a blob of tissue.
    It’s a baby.
    It’s a baby’.”

    THE CRY

    -“The Post continued.
And then impossibly, in an already hushed gallery, in one of those moments when the floor of the Senate looks like a stage set, with its small wooden desks, somehow too small for the matters at hand, the cry of a baby pierced the room, echoing across the chamber from an outside hallway.

No one mentioned the cry, but for a few seconds no one spoke at all.

    A coincidence.

Perhaps a visitor’s baby was crying as the door of the Senate gallery opened at that precise moment and then closed.

Or maybe it was the cry from the son whose voice we never heard but who has changed our lives for ever.”

    WHY PRO LIFE

    -he asks,
“You want to know why I’m pro life?
Do you want to know why I stand up and fight for the family and marriage?
Because God showed me that if you are faithful he will be faithful”

-“… we need people who are leaders in this country who believe that.

Who believe that the faithfulness of God, that he has blessed this country and he has blessed each and every one of us, and if we stand and we are faithful and fear not, that this country again can have a rebirth of freedom like we have never seen before.

    Thank you and God Bless.”

    – – – – – – –

    At 2min. 25sec. of the 15minute Q&A

Concerning the Supreme Court’s supremacy assumption and state actions about liberal abortion legislation.

Santorum is the real deal. As I have been telling people its the morals not the economy stupid. How can you have economic recovery with bankrupt morals? You can’t!
Support Santorum or we face another Obama, whether its Obama or one of the GOP Obama lites.
