Romney campaign to ‘carpet bomb’ airwaves after Obama nomination speech

It’s true. You should see all the new ads out today, entirely too many for me to post:

FOX NEWS – Senior Romney-Ryan campaign officials tell Fox News the campaign will launch an enormous media offensive on Friday, the day after President Obama accepts the Democratic Party’s nomination for a second term. The push will include ad buys in several states that will cost tens of millions of dollars.

Aides said more than a dozen new ads, each tailored to different regions and segments of the electorate, will begin airing Friday, aimed at dramatically shifting the dynamics of a contest that Romney-Ryan aides acknowledge, in terms of the hard realities of the electoral map, have until now favored the Obama-Biden ticket.

“Time is short,” said one campaign aide. “We have $100 million we’ve just raised. If you look at our burn rate to date and our cash on hand, there’s not much more we can spend on infrastructure. So we’ve got to start spending our general election funds in a big way, because you know what the value of that money is on the day after the election? Zero.”

Also here’s a great Romney interview with Fox News from a few days ago:

Did you see the commercials … Nothing really hard hitting, what is with republicans, has it been media conditioning, why are they so afraid to ball hard ball with Democrat’s.

    • Smmy…when will people on the right understand…YOU LIKE HARD HITTING ADS because you want blood. THAT DOES NOT WORK!! It can work in primaries but not the general election. Obama did that in June, July and Aug and it has done nothing!! I want ads that use Obama’s own words against him and stats…I want people who voted for him in ads explaining why they will not vote for him again. You can explain without all that GO FOR THE THROAT!! I like tough ads but too many of us want nasty and vicious ads and then say GOTCHA!! That plays well to you but will turn off others. Have hard ads with Obama’s Own Words and Failings…hit him with that and I like ads with former Obama supporters. Those ads work best with swing voters.

I am sorry but this Viking Scorched Earth desire will do little to help. Do not get me wrong I want tough ads but coherent and direct ads!!

I would love to see an ad with Clint’s Words in that Interview with the Pine Cone about Obama being the biggest hoax! with an empty chair!!

      • las1

“too many of us want nasty and vicious”… really?

How is hard hitting truth telling “nasty and vicious”? Please explain. Nasty and vicious is what Dems do because they have no supporting truth.

People who voted for him in ’08, but not doing so in ’12 may just be a small segment in an overall ad strategy. But a thorough vetting in the ads which didn’t occur in ’08 by the Democrat Media Complex is in order now. Why? To plant doubt. Obama’s polls show that the American public still don’t doubt Obama. And economic stats won’t convince them to doubt. Doubt in the electorate comes from a shaken confidence in the candidate’s integrity. And Romney ads could start at Frank Marshall Davis, work on up to Bill Ayers then to Obama’s Illinois Senate run, then blast off from there. But how much you want to bet it won’t happen?

I LOVE this one, don’t know how old it is but I think it belongs to the RNC…. it’s GREAT.
From ‘Hope’ to Hypocrisy: Excuses, Excuses

  • It will be running in 8 states, CO/NV/NH/FL/NC/VA/OH/IA
Its a big mistake for the Romney campaign to ignore Wisconsin and Michigan, They need to put Obama on defense even in Pennsylvania.

    • RosiesSeeingRed

I wish they’d run them in NJ too. If they did, I think Romney could win here.

      • pajamakat

Hi Rosie – I live in NJ also. I drove through Plainfield the other day – Obama yard signs everywhere. There are too many people ‘taking” in this state. But I agree with you and am going to send the Romney people a message. If Christie could win here, maybe Romey could too.

        • RosiesSeeingRed

Hi neighbor! I’ll tell you what pajamakat, Kyrillos is polling well here against Menendez, all things considered, and I’ve heard quite a few pundits say NJ is no longer a slam-dunk for Obama. I know a few Obama-voters who will not vote for him again. The tides are changing. Romney needs to spend a little money here, and Christie can help put him over the top.

    • Amy

We see lots of anti-Obama ads up here in WISC as well as lots of pro-Romney ads. Wisconsin isn’t being ignored.

I think Romney knows how to spend a buck, and how to administer effectively….but others say he/his people read this site for tips. That makes him all the more smart. More smarter? just playing.

    • Here u go
First Wisconsin-centric Romney/Ryan ads start airing tomorrow.

  • Ryan Mobley

I think it’s a sad state in America when we need to “carpet bomb” citizens with ads to convince them that the country is in critical condition.

Shouldn’t reality be enough? It’s like the weather. I do not need a meteorologist to tell me the current conditions. I only need to open a window.

    • U are right!!
But when America is so brainwashed by the administration, we need to fight back!!!

      • actionsspeaklouder

Brainwashed by this administratin AND the lying left-wing media.

        • Mark Seplowin

The brain washing has been a long road, the Commies/Socialists started by taking control of the Schools and Media so most of these citizens are just doing what they have been programmed.

as I stated in another conversation. We are in a sad state. When you give a high school graduate, working as a cashier $14.07 for a few items that add up to $13.57 and they look at you like you have 3 heads, that is a statement to our education system. The amts. may be different, and the parts of the country varied but, the results are the same, befuddlement. If these kids can’t figure out simple math like this do you think they have a grip on the dire needs this country is in? Again, like Beck says when he gives a cold hard fact, “don’t believe me look it up”, we have too many young people graduating High School that can’t even tell time from a clock unless its digital. Laugh as you may but its a fact. The remedial rate for kids entering college will knock your socks off. By the way, I use the meteorologist for tomorrows weather, like you said, todays is obvious.

Of course it is a sad state, and that is WHY we need to advertise a lot. Many people are totally unaware of things as we see them. Hopefully we can influence enough people to make a difference. What are you doing?

  • 911Infidel

    Broken arrow.

  • RosiesSeeingRed

I just looked at the first ad on romney’s youtube page. Is it just me, or is him saying “I’ll create 130,000 new jobs in Iowa” much different than Obama pulling numbers out of the air and saying he’ll create new jobs? (As Krauthammer pointed out, he can say we’ll all have airplanes and be disease free, but if he doesn’t say HOW, it’s a lot of nothing).

I have no doubt businesses will begin to hire and spend the money they’ve been sitting on the second Obama is voted out, but still, Romney’s ads are just more promises that at this point, could leave Americans feeling rather skeptical. I admit I did not watch any of the others — hopefully there are some better ones there.

  • Army_Pilot1967

I believe Romney needs to keep pounding on obama’s abysmal performance as president. obama has been a total and complete failure, he has no leadership ability, he has no vision, and he has no solutions for fixing America’s many problems. Yet I’m sure obama will get millions of votes…why, I don’t know, but we can’t afford to have obama remain in the White House. He needs to go home…wherever that may be!!!

    • actionsspeaklouder

Yet, if you check out today’s Rasmussen polling – 48% think Obama has good leadership skills. WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE????????? These polls just floor me. Who in the heck are they polling? They can’t ALL be that ignorant – can they? Don’t answer that!

      • Army_Pilot1967

Well, I’ve lost confidence/faith in a lot of our citizenry because they don’t seem to have the love of country like most people had years ago and they think a fraudster like obama is doing a good job. Like you wrote: “WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE???????” I have no clue as to who they are, but we are miles apart politically and that’s okay, but I just can’t imagine ever being a Dimocrat/Liberal. What a miserable bunch they are.

  • Another note to the Romney Campaign (I am sure they check this site daily)

Campaigning in a swing state BUT going to red conservative counties is almost the same as campaigning in a red state, Don’t be scared!! Go into the Blue counties and fire up the minority vote!!!

    • AbdulBX

Exactly. Don’t concede the urban and suburban areas to Obama. In places like Virginia, North Carolina and Ohio, that could make the difference. McCain made the same mistake in 2008.

  • Linky1

Along with his failed record, the DNC gong show of a convention should provide more than enough material for attack ads.

Romney has to use the carpet bomb approach to keep pounding away at Obama, Biden and all of the other Dhimmi-crats.

  • wodiej

Gracious, informed, well spoken and criticism where deserved. Well done.

  • Infrastructure…I do like the sound of that…THAT IS GROUND GAME which is a MUST with the scum on the left!!! So they have that in place and 100s of millions to spend…I LOVE IT!! This will begin a cascade of ads that will come into the foray!! Very good!

  • Sober_Thinking

    Put. It. On. T.V.

    • Amy

Not sure where you live, but up here in the battleground of WISC we see the ads all the time. We’ve been seeing them for about 6 weeks now. Both sides. Which just tells me that the POTUS is less than certain he’ll carry our state. 🙂 Which just makes me happy. 🙂

      • Sober_Thinking

        Very cool Amy… thanks! 🙂

  • aposematic

Note to Romney Campaign: You have my vote so please stop wasting my donations by sending me Romney campaign ads/fliers. OK! I feel like I’m paying to be marketed to. In my book, that puts at least one of us in the stupid catagory and I hope its not me.

    • GJPinks

Scoop can verify, most of the Internet ads are PPC or pay per click. Do what I do, click on all the lib ads possible, it costs them, pay the site and wastes their dollars.

    • bayway48

Ditto! I get 2 or 3 every day. He has my vote, use the money and sink this turd…Now!

  • iaintlyin

There’s a issue at stake in this election that Romney is failing to shine a light on, our liberty. Why isn’t he making people aware of all the new laws, regulation, rules and fiats that has been passed under this guy. Between the EPA, the DEP, Obamacare and the other agencies Obama has formed, the stack of pages has got to be taller than Romney. He should have them stacked up next to himself every time he speaks. It would be hard for the MSM to ignore this hideous prop day after day. Also why not mention the czars that have been named, show the people visually what this, this, ….has done to us and the road he’s on if left unfettered for another 4 years. If we lose our freedoms while we’re being taxed to death what do we have left?

  • iaintlyin

I hate to be glomming a thread but another item Mr Romney has so far neglected to mention, a planned BILLION dollar payment to Egypt. Monies that would be well spent not being spent since we’d have to borrow it. Yeah, over 1 billion Uncle Sams on its way to Muslim Brotherhood controlled Egypt. So they’ll think kindly of us, to help build THEIR ECONOMY, a billion bucks. Tuesdays WSJ front page Matt Bradley. I feel sick.

    • p m

MR referred to Israel’s distress ‘at a time like this’, and yet that is precisely what zero has intentionally engineered – a time like this.

Can congress not stop this transfer of money that isn’t there? Don’t they control the purse strings, or is this just another subversion of the Constitution by zero?

  • I can’t see any reason for NOT electing Romney president. He is much more qualified to run the government than Obama was in 2008. I’m also getting a little tired of the mainstream media giving Obama a pass on how bad the employment situation is. If this were a Republican president, I’m sure the mainstream media would be all over that, even bringing back the once-famous “misery index” that was popular years ago. But with Obama you get shrugs from the mainstream media and you don’t hear anything. But I think that this year we can even overcome the mainstream media. I think that Americans are smart enough to know that Obama isn’t working out and needs to be replaced. At least I hope so. Because, if he isn’t, I shudder to think what the next four years will bring.

    • B-Funk

Great comment. I’d add the statistics quoted by Beck today that, in terms of soldier deaths in Afghanistan, Obama’s best month is equivalent to Bush’s worst month for deaths. Crazy! The LSM would’ve been all over Bush, but like you said, Obummer gets a shrug and a pass. It’s dang near treasonous!

  • LiberalBoycotter

Romney needs to tell the American people who Barry, really is and I think he needs to scare the hell out of people about Barry’s politics.

The Democommies, said no God, no Israel. I am telling you Barry, hates America, and he hates white people.. I knew if Barry, became our President what would happen, I have been so afraid for America, in the past 4 years as I love this country with all my heart, and I knew Barry, would try and destroy this great country.

I am pleading with everyone go see 2016 Obama’s America, this movie will show you who Barry, is, why he is doing what he is doing, and what he will be, COMPELLED TO DO IF HE IS REELECTED. I thought I knew Barry, but this movie opened up my eyes even more and has substantiated everything I thought he would do, but now I know that HE WILL BE compelled to bring this country down, he can’t help himself. WE CANNOT LET THIS GUY BE REELECTED!!!! I PRAY GOD WILL SAVE THIS GREAT NATION!!!

  • Boxofteabags

Face it, If “The one” didn’t look so bad, Romney wouldn’t look so good, no amount of adds, good ones or bad ones, will change how people feel about him, people will only have a “I have to vote for him” attitude toward him… a pox on the Elite Repub’s houses.

This is great news. I was hoping for this.

  • bayway48

Obama and DNC ads are starting to run on TV here in Texas! I saw two today. Romney—>sends me emails and flyers asking for more money. Scratching head.

  • Give it up Romney, Americans don’t want to repeat Bush policies.

  • iaintlyin

If Romney doesn’t break out and start being more aggressive in his speeches, shedding some of his pastoral manner, he’s gonna lose. The interview on Meet The Press was disheartening in that he lacked fire while unemotionally claiming to be determined. The closest he’s been to being the guy he needs to be is the night and day after picking Ryan for his VP. For a guy that’s been dreaming of leading the country for the last 8 years he’s not showing it. He’s got my vote whether he falls a sleep on the podium or sets fire to it but, I gotta say, he better be someone different than I’ve seen so far during the debates. His tilt of the head and consoling smile, like he’s in a constant state of sympathy indicate to me he’s weak. I’m not suggesting a barking mad man approach but a little zip, some hand gestures to indicate the enormity of our problems, language other than “I’ll be okay if I lose”. To repeat a past suggestion, continually make speeches with the stack of papers that contain the rules, edicts, licenses, permits, fines etc. that have been enacted since this Socialist has taken over. Have another stack of papers on the other side of him consisting of the restrictions, laws and fines that are projected to take effect in the next two years concerning obamacare, the epa, dep, noia and every other aspect of our lives that are being infiltrated. These hideous looking piles of mandates regarding our liberties would go along way toward waking up the public in ways that Romney hasn’t so far. C’mon Mitt, we need you brother, Light it up for the sake of everyone that believes in the USA, from our Founding Fathers to our grand children. A little emotion for Christs sake. There aren’t many undecideds out there, you better get yourself geared up to snatch them, our Republic is depending on you. You got a great jaw, tighten it up a bit once in awhile to show some intensity.
