Romney: I’m the clear choice in this election – and no more Mr. Nice Guy

Not really an ad in the conventional sense, but a nice juxtaposition of positions by the Romney campaign on Obama’s “you didn’t build it” comments versus Romney’s rebuttal:

Also, Buzzfeed is reporting that Romney no longer believes that Obama is a ‘nice guy’:

In speeches from Des Moines to Dallas, Romney has always been careful to hedge his tough digs at Obama with a civil nod toward the president’s moral character: “He’s a nice guy,” the Republican has often said. “He just has no idea how the private economy works.” But Tuesday’s speech included no such hedge — and one campaign adviser said there’s a reason for that.

“[Romney] has said Obama’s a nice fellow, he’s just in over his head,” the adviser said. “But I think the governor himself believes this latest round of attacks that have impugned his integrity and accused him of being a felon go so far beyond that pale that he’s really disappointed. He believes it’s time to vet the president. He really hasn’t been vetted; McCain didn’t do it.”

Indeed, facing what the candidate and his aides believe to be a series of surprisingly ruthless, unfounded, and unfair attacks from the Obama campaign on Romney’s finances and business record, the Republican’s campaign is now prepared to go eye for an eye in an intense, no-holds-barred act of political reprisal, said two Romney advisers who spoke on condition of anonymity. In the next chapter of Boston’s pushback — which began last week when they began labeling Obama a “liar” — very little will be off-limits, from the president’s youthful drug habit, to his ties to disgraced Chicago politicians.

“I mean, this is a guy who admitted to cocaine use, had a sweetheart deal with his house in Chicago, and was associated and worked with Rod Blagojevich to get Valerie Jarrett appointed to the Senate,” the adviser said. “The bottom line is there’ll be counterattacks.”

You took the words right out of my mouth…..great, he must get elected.

  • M_J_S

STOP saying Obama is a nice guy. He isn’t. He’s an anti-Constitutionalist scumbag from Chicago. He’s a punk.

    • JerrymB

And he’s told more outright LIES than anybody in history as POTUS! It is incredible how he gets away with this with the MSM.

      • It’s not “incredible”; it’s par for the course with the MSM. Sadly, it’s incredible when they actually do their job and report the truth.

      • cheyennecowboy

Odumba….still not my president! He is just simply not qualified. SHOW ME! NOT!

Been thinking the same for a while – got an answer at Powerline today, John Hinderaker via Byron York:
“Campaign finance laws. Romney officials believe this is the most under-reported aspect of the ad war so far. Until the Republican National Convention, which begins August 27, Romney is forbidden from spending the money he has raised for the general election. Instead, he is using money left over from the GOP primary race. Of course, Romney spent a huge amount of money — about $85 million — to win that primary race. Even though he has been raising vast amounts for the general election, he doesn’t have gobs of cash to use right now. Obama, on the other hand, didn’t have to spend any money winning a Democratic primary. The result is that Obama is hugely out-spending Romney in key states. A recent Washington Post report said Obama has outspent Romney in Florida $17 million to $2 million, as of July 6. The numbers in Ohio were $22 million to $6.5 million, and in Virginia, they were $11 million to $3 million. That is a huge, huge advantage for Obama — not unlike the advantage Romney enjoyed over his Republican rivals during the primary season.”

He acts on behalf of darkness. This man is showing what kind of person he truly is. He is the ultimate marxist!

  • yungbuck

romney=bush=obama=all presidents before them….ron paul ftw!!

  • keyesforpres

Disappointed? Mitt, you should be pi$$ed off at what this usurper is doing to this country. I remember when I saw you in Jan. and you said he’s a nice guy who is just in over his head. BARF and NOT. Afterwards I spoke with Gov. Haley who stood up on the stage with you and I told her that you have to stop saying that. That O is doing this on purpose!!

Well, I’m glad you are starting to see the light. Start hammering the point home: O is doing this on purpose and that makes him evil.

    • sDee

“”That O is doing this on purpose!!””

What bothers me in all this is that there is no way from the get-go that Romney could ever have actually believed that Hussein is a “nice enough guy just in over his head”. I think he was running that one up the flag pole to see just how gullible we are.

I actually never thought Romeny would go as far as the buzzfeed excerpt implies he will. Maybe he will, maybe not. But as you aptly point out, America’s very foundation and is intentionally under attack – Obama is highly successful in what he is doing. America will pay dearly for decades to come for this wanton destruction at home and abroad.

Time to be brutally honest with America. We’ve not even begun to understand were we are – let alone clean it up.

    • Does it matter whether Obama is “doing this on purpose” or not?

Leftists always assume that they have Good Intentions and conservatives are evil and/or stupid (Darth Cheney and Chimpy Shrub). They always get credit for those Good Intentions. But why? If a semi is barreling down the Interstate the wrong way and kills you, does it matter whether the driver was drunk or a deliberate terrorist? YOU STILL DIE!

It’s time to stop worrying about whether it’s on purpose and just tell people “It doesn’t matter whether you think the President is a nice guy or not, what counts is whether his policies and management do what we need done or not.” Don’t ask yourself who “cares” more. Ask who produces results.

      • keyesforpres

As far as the end result? Of course it doesn’t matter. However, it is important that ppl understand that this is on purpose. Why? Because it means he’s not misguided and therefore can be shown the error of his ways. It means there is no stopping him because……….he’s doing this on purpose. That makes him evil, not misguided.

  • Sober_Thinking

Take the gloves off Mitt and start busting his chops.

There isn’t enough time between now and November to list all of bo’s offenses! But, here’s hoping the Romney campaign gives it their all!

    • I don’t know, maybe if we arrange an all&every day reading, by volunteers, and if we get started right away, we could just maybe finish listing and reading them all before November.

      • steprock

Oooh!!! “Offense of the Day” calendar!

Help me “Whatsoever is good, whatsoever is pure, think on these things.” And breathe

        • Yeah. If we could get it illustrated by Gary Larson, then it would be a major hit!

  • odin147

State the facts and make your case, the only conclusion left to be drawn is that the president is a radical who was taught how to appear non radical

    • steprock

Absolutely! Is it not mind-numbingly obvious???
His supporters are made up of the blind and the enthusiastically Socialist!

  • WordsFailMe

I wouldn’t want to piss Romney off. I was a manager for many years. I had employees fly out of their chairs, slam the desk, kick trash can’s across the office. slash my tires, make telephoned death threats to my family at night.

One time, the Postal Inspectors went to an employee’s apartment and forcibly removed his handgun. I’ve been threatened with racial discrimination, sexual harassment, gender discrimination, age discrimination and species generation. Once an employee filed a Union grievance against me alleging that I had violated the 13th Amendment to the Constitution which abolished slavery.

I don’t recall ever being blind angry. It was business. It was my job. I don’t picture anyone other than a liar like Obama being able to get to Romney, and if he does, Obama going to be in a fight for his life. I don’t picture Romney laying off that piece of scum for many years and he has the wherewithal to conduct such a campaign. You don’t picture anyone bothering to protect dufus Obama when he loses, do ya? Napoleon, Obama is not.

    • I’m betting that, even worse than Bill Clinton during GW Bush’s Presidency, Obama will become a major boil on Romney’s backside during the next four years.

    • badbadlibs

      That was a good read!

  • Boris_Badenoff

It is becoming very clear that anytime there is any intelligent adult conversation about the two candidates Romney comes out on top and obummer is shown for the light weight he is..

No wonder why the obama campaign is in the personal destruction mode, they have nothing else.

Obama , the Milli Vanilli of politics…

  • YEAH!!! Kick his you-know-what Romney! we”ll be cheering you all the way!

  • “He believes it’s time to vet the president. He really hasn’t been vetted; McCain didn’t do it.”

Ding ding ding. We have a winner. Now if only Romney will only follow through on the No More Mr Nice Guy!

    Go get him Mitt!

    • steprock

Frustrating, isn’t it? Any single person on this site could have told you that.

  • Enoch73

    Finally, the vetting.

  • hwangfeu

If you notice the black man behind Romney, he does not clap nor does he stand at any time.
It is sad that so many black americans are willing to follow Obama off of the cliff. It is so easy to figure out. And the reason Obama didn’t go to do his speech at the NAACP and sent Biden was because they invited Romney to come and speak. How dare they! He’s so narcisstic, it does not take a rocket scientist to see what he will do if he ever destroys this country and takes it over with his regulations. If we drilled oil we would pay 25 cents a gallon at the pump. And we have more oil than the entire world combined. And our money we pay for oil goes to the middle eastern country who come here and blow up our buildings. So we basically finance them. And yet, he bows down to them.
Let me make it easy for those who don’t get it. It is Obama’s agenda to destroy the middle class. Who will be left: People like Goldman Sachs and us. What corner do you think he will be in? Without the middle class claiming most of the jobs in America, what do you think will happen?
Here are just some examples of small business, all the shops in a mall, the fast food places, dry cleaners, contractors, landscaping companies, dress shops, coffee shops, restaurants, storage places, small utility privately owned companies, transportation companies, day care centers, some apartment complexes, flooring companies, nail salons, beauty salons, travel agencies, etc etc etc.
When these have to close because Obama inflicts a 39% tax on these individuals for making 250,000 a year, (and that’s just to start with, they are already at 30) and when they have to pay health care for their employees, they won’t be able to make a living anymore for working 50-60 hours per week. When this happens, the unemployment will be unbelievable and that is when the government will step in causing forced labor and socialism.
In sweden the grocery tax is 27%. They take most of your paycheck. I have a friend in Sweden who comes to the U.S. and when she does we go to the mall for two days and she buys everything because she tells me none of that selection is avialable there. When she sends me costume jewelry at Christmas, it is mediocore at best.
But all everyone sees is that ‘the so called rich’ will pay more taxes, yea, and goodbye to your jobs and freedom when only companies like Goldman Sachs, and Green places are left.
He will pick and choose who gets to do what. This is the same tactic Hitler, Stalin and Mussolini used. Why can’t people see this?
Wake up before you sell out your birthright to those who want to destroy the success of
our country. Like the way Mexico looks? Well, get used to it if we let this man take us over a cliff.
    Said enough.

    • Boris_Badenoff

From the looks of those 2 guys behind him I would venture to guess they just might be involved in a security detail. They are paying a lot of attention to everything but Romney…and they look like they can both take care of themselves…

They caught my attention as well.

      • tshtsh

It looks like a loop background no one is reacting.

  • anyonebutbarry2012

About time, he has got to show a backbone. We don’t need wishy washy we need strong. Barry is a complete, corrupt, agenda seeking socialist who has done much harm, he is not a nice guy mitt, now start countering back.

  • KenInMontana

This is going to be good. Pass the popcorn please.

  • We didn’t start the fire?

I started a Christian web design business in 1998 and I’m working like a dog-damn dog to keep it going.. To earn some keep… NObama had NOTHING to do with it… Didn’t help me, didn’t invest… Didn’t do diddly-squat… So I built this on my own… Thanks NObama… but NO thanks! YOu did F’ALL for me! So you can take your “you didn’t do it on your own” speech and stick it where the sun doesn’t shine!

    • pistol pete

Ever hear of the dyslexic atheist who didn’t believe in dog?

  • Army_Pilot1967

I like the line “President Obama attacks success and therefore under President Obama we have less success…” That is so true! Nobama doesn’t like anyone that is successful, especially those that made it on their own. It’s crystal clear that Nobama doesn’t love or like the United States.

Dumbest statement by a President of the United States: “If you gotta a business…you DIDN’T build that…”

    • steprock

I am consistently ashamed of the words that come out of his mouth. I can hardly wrap my mind around the fact that we have an anti-American Socialist as the President.

He really is the Manchurian Candidate. A man with a shadow government behind him, felons all around him, and a haze of fog over his past.

      • Boris_Badenoff

Let’s don’t forget his lovely wife who finally in her lifetime found a reason to be proud of her country..

You know All THAT just for a Flag….

The Obama’s are very low class.. and it’s all bad..

I mean, is it just me or do most liberals just suck..

    • pistol pete

He’s gonna rue the day he went off his teleprompter and let that slip out.

  • 12grace

Unlike obama, Romney has the intelligence, dignity, respect for G-d and our constitution to be a very effective president.

Pray with all your might that G-d intervenes and removes obama and all of his leftist legislation.

    Nations – Does God Intervene?

  • Help us Obi-Ben-Romney! You are out only hope! We MUST defeat the EMPIRE or all is lost!

  • I can understand Mitt not coming out for a fight too soon…we have to be more patient. People are watching baseball, olympics, going on vacations…its only those of us more hardcore political junkies that are watching every move…Its coming tho…

    • steprock

I sure hope so…it just makes me wonder if Romney even knows who he’s dealing with here. Or is it all clever strategy?

Better late than never I guess.

      • wodiej

        I’m sure Romney knows.

  • steprock

    Late to the party much?

We’ve known for YEARS that he’s a thin-skinned vindictive man, and an outright Socialist. He’s NOT a nice person. He’s NOT in over his head. He’s trying to fundamentally change America into Amerika.

It’s plain as day, and has been to followers of this site, for several years now.

  • Freempg

[Romney] believes it’s time to vet the president. He really hasn’t been vetted; McCain didn’t do it.

Ya think? Too bad Mitt didn’t show up at Sheriff Joe’s press conference yesterday. Talk about felons. What other vetting need there be?

  • joyfulgiver

Best so far! Keep O talking, and we will have enough ads for the rest of the election term.

  • BX75250

  • wodiej

Obama stepped in it with that one. He’s digging that hole deeper and deeper. And especially w someone who knows business. I knew eventually obama would do this. Plus he’s desperate.

  • Romney only needs one ad from now till election day, Obama speaking and a giant neon sign flashing LIE and LIAR in front of him

  • Romney has to keep this up. If Romney keeps this going until the convention, he will win.

  • nibblesyble

Well finally! I remember cheering every time Newt called out the President as a radical and as a Socialist, and groaned each time Romney said he was a nice guy but just inept. Now I can look forward to some more cheer time if Romney really plans on taking down this sorry excuse for a human let alone President!

  • kong1967

    Bring it !!!

  • Clear Choice? They are both big government politicians…

  • MItt Romney “America Street” a campaign song/ad dedicated to Pres Obama-pass it on- (YouTube Video)

  • hbnolikeee

Mitt isn’t didn’t get handed his wealth. It is smart to watch the enemy flex and display it’s attack arsenal. Now you know what and how to counter. Chicago thuggery is only so good.

  • Jay

‘Bout time Romney took the mittens off. He needs to show the people he can lead them from the Land of Hopenchange.

  • Jay

Ron Paul, Ron Paul. Sounds kind of familiar, I think I heard of him.

  • No more Mr Nice guy.. When did Romney ever think being mr nice guy was going to be good enough to beat Obama..

He had better wake up, because he will not only lose the election that way, but the Nomination as well.

Does Romney finally now get it, that this is not just another Presidential election of a Democrat or a Republican.. This is an election for the very core, heart, soul, and fiber of America as a Republic under the U.S. Constitution where Individual Freedom, Liberty, Constitutional Rights, Equal Justice, Democracy, and Free Market Capitalism of the private sector is to be preserved, protected, and defended against all enemies, and the Federal govt is be contained and limited and responsive to the will of the majority of the American people- “the Consent of the Governed”, as the American Declaration of Independence declared, and US Constitution intended it to be.

I guess we will see if he finally does, or does not.. As usual, it takes a catalyst to make any progressive GOP establishment RINO to see anything out of the realm of their own personal egotistical self-interests.
