Rubio explains new immigration plan – what to do with current illegals in the country

In part 2 of his interview on the BillO show, Rubio explains his vision to solve the illegal immigration issue we have in this country, to deal with 8-12 million illegals already here. Here’s a quick summary of his plan:

All illegals who have committed a crime should be deported. Otherwise, the current illegals in this country should come forward and be fingerprinted with a background check for national security reasons, they must know English and must already be assimilated. If they pass these conditions, they get a non-permanent work visa which allows them to work in this country but does not allow them to qualify for any benefits like welfare, social security, etc.

Then after a significant period of time with no violations, they can then apply for a green card through our existing legal immigration system, getting in the back of the line like everyone else. Once they’ve received their green card, they must wait another 5 years before they can apply for citizenship.
